Venturing.. [Shin]

The shinigami didn't take long to follow him inside, he caught the attention of a waitress and they were escorted over to a bench, he much preferred benches over chairs, they were just more comfortable, and for shin, they were easier to get out of, seeing as all he had to do was slide to the end and hop off.

The waitress asked them what they wanted to drink and shin asked for lemonade and then the shinigami ordered her drink and the waitress went off to get them, he glanced over the menu that she had brought and quickly found a section on pork, and started reading vigorously, it took him a little time but he decided on the pork ribs. he looked over at the shinigami across from him and asked, "Do you know what you want yet? I'm going to get the pork ribs." Shin smiled slightly and licked his lips, his mouth salivating as he imagined the ribs.

She followed him over to the bench and slid onto it glancing around quickly before also ordering a glass of water as the waitress came over and asked. She took a menu and began scanning over the various dishes that were on offer, pursing her lips with concentration as she tried to decide what she wanted.

She looked over at him and shrugged her shoulders; she wasn’t well acquainted with BBQ restaurants and didn’t know what was best. After a few minutes she breathed out a sigh and shook her head placing the menu down on the table. “I literally have no idea what’s good, I like chicken, do they do anything nice involving chicken?” She asked as she spotted the waitress walking toward them with their drinks balancing on a tray. She smiled at her as she placed the drinks in front of them and then asked if they were ready…

Shin watched her as she became indecisive, and after a while asked if they did anything good involving chicken, shin honestly didn't know, he had never really liked chicken that much, preferring pork over all other types of meat. He glanced at the menu, "Um, they do a good combination if you aren't sure of what's good. Otherwise you're better off asking the waitress not me." Shin pointed the combination out to her on the menu and looked over at her.

Right after that the waitress walked over to the table and set down his lemonade and her water, he slid it over to himself and started drinking from the straw, as the waitress asked them if they knew what they wanted, Shin nodded his head towards the woman across from him and the waitress looked over at her expectantly, pen and notepad in hand.

She frowned a little, hoping that he would be some kind of avid chicken fan and would be able to aid her in her quest for good tasting poultry for dinner, but alas it was not to be. She swallowed thickly as the waitress walked over and took a delicate sip of her water right after it was placed down in front of her.

When the waitress’ eyes landed on her expectantly she looked at the woman over her glass and swallowed her mouthful of water, putting the cup on the table with the slightest of thuds before she cleared her throat. “I um, he said something about a chicken combination, I’ll just take one of those,” she said with a slight smile, not entirely sure what the dish contained but she took a shot in the dart with a selection of chicken, not even thinking to just look it up on the menu, where he’s just pointed it out to her. The woman scrawled it down quickly with a smile before turning back to Shin.

Shin waited while Haru ordered and the waitress turned over to shin and he said, "Can i get the pork ribs?" while pointing it out on the menu and then continued saying," and can i get all steamed vegetable as the sides?" the waitress nodded and picked up the menu's and left with their orders. Leaving him and the shinigami in somewhat of an awkward silence. After a few seconds he said, "Soooo what do you do as a shinigami?" He was trying to learn more about what it truly means to live life as a shinigami, so he could decide for himself if it is what he really wanted to do.

She tapped her nails on the counter rhythmically during the silence, her head balanced on her left fist as she did so, before looking over to him as he spoke. She thought for a second “oh I’m not actually a full Shinigami yet,” she said a little heat rising to her cheeks, almost flattered that he had thought her to be one. “I’m just a student, but I should be graduating in just a few days,” she added. “So, as a student not much except study to be honest,” she shrugged her shoulders, ceasing the tapping of her fingers and grasping her glass of water to take a sip. “Do you wanna be a Shinigami?” She asked after she swallowed her mouthful of water, putting it down and wiping her mouth with the back of her sleeve.

Shin pondered the question for a moment or two before answering, it wasn't the first time he had been asked this question, and probably wouldn't be the last. He wanted the abilities and powers that the shinigami learned, but he didn't really wish to become a shinigami, he'd rather have the powers without being a shinigami, especially the technique known as shunpo, but he had been told that only shinigami could learn them, but he wanted to know more about what it was like to live as a shinigami before he made that choice. Out loud he said, "I want to know what it is like to live as a shinigami, not just fighting hollows, the whole thing, before i make a decision either way."

She nodded her head, taking her glass and raising it to her lips, allowing a small amount of liquid to enter her mouth before setting it back down in front of her, trying to get it exactly in the ring of moisture it had left behind. “That’s a clever way of looking at it,” she said with a smile, “most people just rush in and do it because at the time, it’s an option, but actually thinking about it, it’s very…” she struggled to find the right word to describe it “mature; maybe? I dunno,” she said laughing once and running her index finger around the rim of the glass. She looked up and around the establishment a little, but dipped her head back down, not having seen their food though her stomach was making slight noises, informing her she was by now; pretty damn hungry.
