James stood atop the hill overlooking the Karakura town his eyes towards the scarlet colored clouds, a tear rolling down his cheek as memories of flight dance through his inner eye. The muscles in his back pulled and relaxed as the wind glided over the thin membrane that stretched between my wings felt like the caress of pure silk. James slid down into the grass as he leaned against the safety rail, “It is evenings like this that I wish I had never been exiled. If I still had my wings I would rules the skies like I did all those centuries ago.”
Standing James walked over to the edge looking straight down, I could jump and feel that power of flight once more before it ends. he leaned forward as the memories of flight over came him once more and with that he took the step over the edge smiling as the wind caressed his body once more. As he fell his aura changed solidifying into thin translucent reflections of the wings he once had, James could feel the pull against his shoulders and back once more as he started to glide. “This is good, but my speed is nowhere near what I used have, let’s see what this new body can handle.”
James jackknifed as the city started to blur below him, it seemed like only an instant but when everything focused he was on the far side of the city gliding swiftly over a lake concentrating he righted himself and was seeming balancing on the air above the water. While gliding is fun it is very impractical for this body to fight while gliding. Standing above the water James set his focus on the shore and tried to run it was a good 50 yards away, but after one step he stood in the sand the water still split where he had crossed it in a blur.
Collapsing on the shore of the lake James smiled as the first stars were starting to show up, his body was exhausted from the strain of the speed. “Guess I will have to refine my technique a bit before I apply it in a real battle.” He whispered as he passed out in the sand.
