Mastering Flash Step

Kaoseu made his way back to the track. He was sore still from his intensive training before. He sighed as Rekka appeared in front of him. The fleet-footed Shinigami looked him over then gave a short, slight grunt. He then disappeared down to the track and pointed towards the locker room and held up 5 fingers. Kaoseu groaned and Flash Stepped down to the locker room, then inside. He yanked off his clothes, shoved them in a locker, already having his workout gear on under his robes.

He Flash Stepped back outside and over to the instructor. "7 seconds. You were late. 30 laps. You have 2 minutes." said Rekka, without even looking at Kaoseu. Kaoseu sighed and began his laps, running full tilt. He Flash Stepped and kept up a steady pace. He finished his thirtieth lap and stood next to Rekka who looked at him and did the unthinkable. He smiled.

"One minute and two-point-four-nine-six seconds." Rekka said. "Keep that up and you may be as fast as me one day. Do you feel dizzy? Nauseaus? Queasy?" he asked. "I'm... fine." Kaoseu said, breathing heavily. Rekka chuckledand handed him a bottle of water. "Drink up, then watch." Rekka said.

Kaoseu downed the water and stood. Rekka walked a little ways ahead and stood there. "Keep an eye on me, and follow my every move. When I move away, follow me. Try to keep up." called the famed instructor. Then, he disappeared. Kaoseu's eyes followed a slight movement and he whirled around, then saw Rekka reappear and disappear again. Kaoseu followed the movementagain, to the side.

Rekka Flash Stepped again, and this time Kaoseu saw the movement as if it were a regular one. There was no blur and he saw Rekka clearly. Rekka saw the recognition written on Kaoseu's face and grinned, then Flash Stepped away. Kaoseu followed and Rekka stayed ahead. Eventually, Kaoseu rushed forward and caught up with Rekka who seemed as if he were merely strolling. Then, Rekka surged forward. Kaoseu pushed himself and caught back up. Finally, after several hours, Kaoseu was weary and could not move much anymore. Then he collapsed, exhausted and tired from the excessive use of Flash Step. He awoke several hours later in his own bed, weary, and sore all over again. There was a note on his forehead. He tore it off and read it to himself.

"You passed out. Looks like you need a bit more conditioning. Feel free to drop by any time you feel the need. Your shoes were beyond reapir, so you might want to get a new pair. Keep it up the way you're going, one day you'll make a fine Flash Stepper. But for now, settle with being a master."

Kaoseu grinned and rolled over, closing his eyes to sleep again. He didn't need a new pair of shoes, he decided he'd go barefoot from now on. He sighed contentedly. Master. He now had mastered the Flash Step.
