Odd Numbered -Kaiyo-

Junko was teaching an zanjutsu class, wooden swords only, although they were not kendo swords, they were carved and solid. They were balanced and weighted like a nameless zanpaktou, it was just wooden, and unsharpened.

She yelled out, "Alright split into pairs!", Junko waited a minute, before yelling louder, "SPLIT INTO PAIRS!!!". Junko was amazed to see a 2 groups of 7 stick together. Junko yelled, clentching her right fist, not moving her left arm since it was still slung. "OK So these geniuses here have decided that you will be treated like four year olds! Line up and count off, one and two, All the way down the line." When the arduous counting was done, it ended on 1, which means there was an odd number. Junko walked down, her eyes falling to the end of the line, Buzz, she said, "Buzz, your with me, Now everyone, don't be idiots, and just engage in sparring, if you hurt each other, you are not doing it right."

Kaiyo had an odd relationship with Junko; as much as the girl was intrigued by the woman and her battle abilities she had thus far not exactly seen eye to eye. A few arguments about attending classes and picking a bad meeting place for a covert mission...Well Kaiyo wasn't exactly sure where she stood. Aside from at the end of the line. The girl had been so lost in the shouting and shuffling that she'd spun around to the point of dizziness, and somehow ended up partnering with their instructor for the day.

Never one for tact or guile the girl flicker her sworded hand towards Junko's slung arm, 'What happened?' a voice of genuine concern shining through a light smile. The 4th squad were pretty great about healing, so she would likely be fine in a while. Still, anything that required rest from even magic healing spells must have been bad in the first place.

Kaiyo shuffled around Junko, already hearing the battering wooded blades around her. Like any sparring class, most students viewed it as a very fierce competition and as much as Buzz had a reputation for not such great technique. The temptation to test one of her new squad mates was too good an opportunity to pass up. Kaiyo swung the wooden blade around her body with a light flourish; an absent minded trick that was a little less than regulation. Adopting a fairly relaxed stance, the girl was certain to add flaws into it, including only holding her blade in her right hand. A smirk played along her lips. Wondering just how much Junko would notice.

"A flying hollows with a brain. It got what it deserved though." Junko said this dully, recalling the pain, and how that idiot hadn't helped.

Junko put herself in a light stance, her right shoulder forward, the wooden sword in front. She was unimpressed by Buzz's stance, it was full of mistakes, which would be fixed by the end of today. Junko lunged forward, dropping low, stabbing, aiming for the armpit of buzz, not the vital area, but a disarming techinque. It was aimed at showing the fact that she was nearly on the verge of being dead weight. "Sloppy" she said as she stabbed, slightly after to be more exact.

Kaiyo hid her smile as Junko adopted stance, casually catching her eyes trace along her own adopted stance. Catching the flaws in it with a seeming ease. Impressive so far. Kaiyo stiffened her muscles, stopping her own reactions from avoiding the hit as Junko's wooden sword jabbed at her. The girl retracted her arm, instantly dropping her sword with a frown. 'So much for not hurting your partner' she mumbled.

Keeping a steady gaze on Junko as she bent her knee's and picked up the weapon again. Kaiyo couldn't help it, she just had to see what her latest recruits skill level was. Blaming it on luck would just have to do. Her mind flashed back to a similar situation with Masura, the guy who'd just been paranoid clearly. It had taught her a few things though. Pain was an issue. Obviously the girl could still feel it, but after years of conditioning and combat, her pain threshold was high enough to show to response at all. Her eyes traced along to the point she'd been hit. A beat. 'Owww' she winced, moving her arm as she dropped back into the standard academy stance. Still not perfect, but good for any new graduate.

Once again, Kaiyo waited. She could get a better reading on the handicapped woman if she made the first strike.

Junko smiled as her attack worked, she felt the contact, and it probably irritated the shoulder abit. Junko returned to her former light stance, bouncing allitle on her toes, shifting weight side to side with each bounce, a mistake, a purposeful one, she could have sworn she was trying to observe her as much as Junko was observing Buzz.

The mistake was simple, if she timed it right, she could predict which way Junko would dodge, but Junko was going to plan on that eventuality, for a moment, or two, she bounced like this, keeping her sword between her and Buzz. She kept the flawed bounce going, and waited, engaging in banter, "Your never going to graduate if you can't attack, you might even feel abit of resentment for me forcing you to class, unleash it, use it, you might win... for once..."

Her wooden sword twisted around slightly as the girl gripped the handle tighter, she didn't like being goaded. 'Use it, lose an arm, sure' she snarled back. Dropping her gaze the ground between them. Soft grass; always a bit nicer to land on than dusty beaten grounds. In truth, Kaiyo held no resentment towards Junko at all; though she could completely understand her technique. In most cases a poor combat ability was linked with a lack of aggression, of course, that wasn't exactly Kaiyo's problem.

Kaiyo lifted her head slightly, eyeing Junko from beneath the rim of her hat. Clearly it was her turn to move. Kaiyo figured she'd go for a classic combo, textbook style and predictable. Lunging forwards steadily with her sword before withdrawing the jab, spinning around, both hands firmly on her sword still as she made a slow and heavy swing around towards Junko's hip. It was almost painful to fight like this, but Kaiyo figured if she made it gradual, she might not notice she was holding back so much.

Junko reacted to the stab, but she executed the combo to slowly to hit her, as she just had to pivot her guard, and Buzz's blade clashed with her own, while she dodged to the left, where she had her weight from bouncing, Junko then swept with her feet, trying to trip up Buzz, followed by a surge of force from her right hand, trying to make Buzz offbalance for the sweep.

Kaiyo's feet were knocked from beneath her and in an instant she'd landed flat on the ground. It was a good thing she'd checked the floor wasn't too hard. Playing up to the archetypal pained student, Kaiyo remained on the ground. Wincing and her right hand patted along the floor to find her wooden sword again. She'd dropped it about the time Junko dropped her.

Hell even her hat had managed to tumble a few inches behind her head. 'You said no actual hurting!' she snapped back, still clearly not wanting to stand up yet. All around her she could still hear the panted and bated breaths of heavy stricken students swinging around swords with all their might. It was brief moments like this that made Kaiyo glad she'd been given a chance to go back. Relax.

Junko was stern, dissapointed even, Buzz was terrible at combat, one of the worst senior students she had ever seen. A complainer, and she was laid out with a easy techinique. Junko tutted, a condecending attitude she adopted dropped, now she was going to show her why she needed to pay attention.

Junko stuck the wooden sword into the soft ground, and took a step away from it, "Buzz, you are not hurt, i tripped your onto some grass, i have seen you bleeding profusely and you barely glanced at it, Now get up and try, none of this half assed fighting, come at me. From what i have seen so far, I don't need weapons to spar with you, or apparently 2 arms either" Junko was not goading Buzz, but she was truly dissapointed, she could see why she was needed to escort Buzz...

Kaiyo lifted her gaze to Junko's eyes. In a flash, her calm sense of serenity and relaxation was snapped away. Junko didn't seem to please and honestly, she was starting to annoy Kaiyo. Why the woman felt the need to try and push her to achiever further, it was frustrating. As she recalled though, Junko had never seen her so badly wounded. Then again, most of the time Kaiyo didn't notice. Of course there was her morning run that she'd tripped, but it didn't look that bad did it?...Oh well.

Now get up...A direct command, followed of course by the insult. The bitter words that echoed like a drum through her head. Kaiyo's left hand slowly reached out to her side, her body turning on the side as she kicked her right leg outwards quickly, trying to trap Junko's legs between her own as she rolled over onto her right. An attempt to trip the woman over.

Whether or not it stuck was irrelevant, she'd tried at least. Kaiyo jumped back up to her feet, sliding her foot underneath the wooden blade as she kicked it back up into her hand. 'Try this with no weapon' she finally retorted. Taking her sword in only her right hand as she spun around, swinging horizontally with her blade at Junko with the first spin, flicking around her grip as she twisted around again. Dropping back into a combat stance with an almost impressive ease. Depending on how closely Junko had watched, Kaiyo might just be able to blame that on a sudden rush of anger and luck. Her eyes traced up and down Junko for visual reactions; praying she wouldn't read too far into it.

Junko had been pretty lucky in her dodging, based of course on the foundation of a natural ability. Kaiyo was so far quite pleased with the woman, of course she was no way near done with her. There was definitely a lot more fun to be had. Kaiyo shrugged off Junko's comment, her expression turning colder as she replied. 'What if i don't want to try'. That was vague enough to account for some kind of reasoning or explanation right? Well it was all she was getting anyway.

Shuffling her shoulders up and down a bit Kaiyo added a few faults to her newly adopted stance again. A light grip on her blade the girl stepped back into combat. Swinging her right arm sluggishly upwards towards junko's left shoulder, her left hand starting to swing around with a hook to the side of her face in equal timing. Following the spin she stumbled back into a stance, smirking slightly at the amusing methods of combat she had adopted.

Junko kept her stance steady, facing her, a perfect stance for a moment. then flaws, Yes, buzz was hiding her capabilaties. Junko was ready for the swing but perhaps not the punch, it really didn't matter either way, Junko sprang to her right, trying to run past Buzz to Buzz's left, Junko spun, and aimed for a light hit on buzz's shoulder, trying to just get her attention.

Kaiyo blinked slowly, purposefully keeping her head straight frowards as she followed Junko's movements with her peripheral vision as she knocked her shoulder with her blade. Kaiyo swung the affected shoulder around with the hit. Possibly adding too much force to it as she staggered back a few paces.

Kaiyo shook her head left to her right, her hair flickered slightly from beneath her sacred hat as she wobbled back into a lazy stance. Stepping her right foot forwards, awkwardly bringing the blade to the right of her body as she swung it across at Junko's hip. The pace was starting to bore her, she'd have to take a dive on her next hit. Surely Junko would believe her injury, it was unliekly she'd carry on the fight at least.

Junko saw the reaction to her hit, and still didn't believe it. Junko had the student was faking, the delayed reactions to pain and such. Junko had a thought, she moved her left arm, wincing in pain, it was instictual, but it was benign. Junko yelled, "Alright Class is dismissed earily" then she turned to buzz and said, "Not for you"

A smile dawned onto the girl's face when Junko dropped her stance and turned around. Wincing almost with the woman, Kaiyo felt almost guilty for her wound, certain if she had still been her captain, she could have prevented it somehow. Despite not even knowing the scenario in which she was injured.

Lowering her blade as Junko announced the end of class, the girl turned around to leave. Her foot hovering mid-air when she turned back to Kaiyo. Her smile dropping in an instant. Of course. Never could she have been treated so fairly. The girl turned back around with a petulant glare. Rolling her eyes in her clear annoyance as she shifted her weight onto her left foot. 'I did nothing wrong!' she snapped, starting to lose patience with instructors who made her wait behind in classes. Waiting for the explanation.

Junko watched the class leave, celebrating for the most part.

Junko turned to face Buzz, she nodded, folding her arms, "Buzz, you may have done nothing wrong, but you are hiding something, you are holding yourself back" Junko stared at Buzz, on guard, ready to give chase to Buzz...

Kaiyo shrugged complacently, her eyes flitting from left to right in an attempt to look casual; she just seemed quite rude. 'I'm not holding anything back. I suck at combat, everyone knows this. I just can't do it' she replied bluntly. Lifting her gaze, her hazel eyes glimmering in the shade from behind the rim of her hat. It gave her something to hide behind, and held the only link to her actual self she could keep with her. So Kaiyo liked her hat.

Watching junko closely she had to admit, the woman clearly had good insight, but she had no chance of guessing Kaiyo's secret, not unless she literally fought it out of her and even then it was unlikely. Still, she seemed quite tense, as if expecting her to run away. Kaiyo wasn't the brightest button, but she knew that as a general rule of thumb, only the guilty ran. So instead she stood perfectly still, her wooden sword dug slightly into the soft grass, and her defiant stance as confident as ever.

Junko watched, waiting, she was lying. Junko was convinced of it, "Hmm, you are holding back, you start in a perfect stance and then add the flaws, in essence you have had training before." Junko's mind fluttered to the group of bandits that had killed her 'family' in Rukongai, "Who trained you" Junko stared her blue eyes into Buzz's eyes, showing her resolve, and how strong it was.

Crap, she noticed!

Kaiyo's expression didn't even flinch, an un-faltering gaze of annoyance, showing no hinting signs to her lies. Upon reflection was quite thankful to the many 2nd squad training exercises she had been sent on. That didn't help her current situation at all though. Shiku had sorted this out for her though, a fail safe reasoning. She'd trained with the 11th squad Vice Captain. That had to be a last resort though, the woman had no proof of anything and the instructors at the academy had definitely not noticed anything. In fact they'd probably laugh in the face of anyone who'd accuse Buzz of having prior combat training.

Diffuse the situation. Just walk away

Kaiyo flung her right arm forwards, her wooden sword swinging around at Junko as she twisted around on the heel of her foot. Turning to leave as she glanced over her shoulder. 'You don't know what you're talking about' she retorted, her voice a chilling tone of annoyance.

Junko looked at Buzz looked away, she would not be ignored, Junko drew her sword out of the ground, and roatated it, she would fight buzz, seriouslty, and see how she reacted, "Aye, but you do", Junko lowered her center of gravity, and shunpo'ed in front of buzz, she waited for a moment, letting her eyes convey her intentions, an all out fight, for answers, for the truth, noone was watching, the purpose of clearing the courtyard, and noone was due to be here.

Junko slashed a moment after she shunpo'ed in front, a upward slash from the belt, a standard slash, trying to get 'Buzz's attention to the fight.

Kaiyo could hear from behind her, the faint and ringing noise she knew all too well of a hand that wrapped around the handle of a blade. Decision time. Fight back, or let it swing. The girl didn't move her gaze to look back at Junko, she knew the woman was about to attack her. An un-shaken and firm glare landed before the hit. Motionless, Kaiyo stared back at the woman. A defiant act that showed quite clearly, she wouldn't reveal herself so easily.

Kaiyo's small body was flung backwards, banging and rolling along the ground from a single hit. She'd thrown her body with the strike, the throbbing pain of being struck with solid wood stinging along her front slightly. She winced heavily, adding a false shortness of breath for effect. Kaiyo sat up slightly, her lips curling upwards into a light smirk at Junko. 'Nice try' she snarled, returning to her false injured state as she slowly began stumbling back up to her feet, grasping around the floor for her sword.

Junko made contact, she felt vibration, and it was solid. Buzz flew, a few feet even. She waited for Buzz to pick herself up, she looked like she was hurt, but the actions were to delayed. She stole a glance at the sword, there were hairline fractures, a dozen or so hits would be pushing it.

Junko waited till buzz had her weapon, when she shunpo'ed to Buzz's right side, bringing her right knee up into a blow that would hit Buzz's stomache, and if that made contact she would swing at Buzz's back...

Her patience was seriously starting to wear thin. Kaiyo could take a fair beating, but it wasn't ever what she'd call her first choice and at current, it was just making her want to really start fighting back. She held on a bit longer, biting her tongue and tensing her muscles to refrain from movement as her body curled over Junko's knee, pushing the oxygen from her lungs as the sword hit her back. Flipping her forwards and onto the ground. Kaiyo snarled in anger at the woman, panting lightly as she staggered back up to her feet.

'I'm not fighting you so fuck off!' she finally yelled, her voice wrought with anger and captivated by an intense glare. There was no meaning behind her words, if this woman got any more annoying she'd happily kick her ass. Nobody was around to see anyway, and she could snap her neck in a heartbeat. Self-restraint, at best she could just really show her what she was hiding. Killing her own squad member who's already injured wouldn't go down well under the explanation of she started it. Kaiyo held her sword loosely in her right hand. Standing defiantly in front of Junko. Awaiting her response.

Junko just stood and watched Buzz struggle, and engage in a futile attempt to not fight. She replied, "I agree you are not fighting me, you are getting the crap beaten out of you by me, once you get tired, you will show me what your true skills are."

Junko Shunpo'ed in front of buzz, swinging the sword horizontally from the right to the left, trying to hit Buzz's hip, the center of gravity, and send her flying.
