Role Playing Sample:
The boat rocked and swayed from the fury of the storms waves. Two men wrestled with the wheel, trying in vain to navigate the small craft through the storm. The captains screamed instructions to the crew, but the cacophony of the tempest drowned him out. The storm was upon them without warning, the night sky was clear just moments before. Each wave threatened to capsize the vessel, every strike of lightning blinding the crew, the roar of thunder was deafening.
But to one of the crew, none of these things struck as much fear into them as the sound they heard over the din of the storm. At first they thought they was thunder, but it was louder, and no lightning heralded its coming. It was distant at first, but it only took a few moments for the sound to drown everything out to them. The sound send a primal unknown fear down their spine and through its heart. Then there was only the sound of the storm, which seamed to be nothing but white noise by comparison. They looked around outside the vessel, their eyes wide with fear. Another moment passed, there was a small break in the lightning, but what they say in the flash of the next strike paralyzed them. It was a massive pure black shape, looming just in front of the ship. They tried to cry out a warning, but it was too late. The ship struck the mass with such a force it sent them head first over the rails, to the main deck. They rolled onto their back in a daze, no sound could be heard to them above the high pitch ringing. But what they beheld when they opened their eyes skyward, made everything else meaningless. The shape loomed over the starboard side of the ship. in another flash of light, what they saw was burned into their memory. This massive black shape was no rock, or uncharted landmass, because it turned, and in the brief light, they saw its face. Before they could scream another of the crew was over them blocking their view. No that cannot be. No such creature exists. They thought, as the other crewmen help them to their feet. They began to move back to their position when the ship was rocked by another wave, tipping the ship too far to one side. They didn't have time to panic as the chains used to secure the cargo hit them in the chest. Then they were overboard, watching the dim shape of the ship vanishing above them, and the cold darkness of the depths embracing them.
Some time later....
Its so cold, it thought, pinned to the ocean floor by more chains then they remembered sinking with. It didn't know how many years it had been down here. It could not move. But It could see. Around them walked the souls of their former crew mates, all chained to the husk of the ship. They're so noisy, it thought, the others wailing an lamenting about the ship, some even trying to repair the ship with only vain efforts. It watched them in anger, It wanted to be free, It wanted to survive. Its chains rattled as its anger and will to survive brought something new. Hunger. It heard a noise, and so did the crew, which they froze at the sound of. It felt lighter, able to move, and realized the sound was its chains breaking. "We are hungry..." It said, its cold eyes locked on the fear strikened crew. "....and with you, We Will Survive." It said, lunging at the nearest crew member.
