| Soul Reaper TemplateName: Kenji Yasutaki. Age: Appears to be in his late teens early 20's / Actual age 167 Gender: Male Race: Japanese Birthplace: Edo; now known as Tokyo Japan Occupation: Shinigami Height: 5'6 Weight: 120 Appearance: - Spoiler:
Kenji is very thin, to the point he looks frail. He has cold onyx black eyes, as if he is devoid of emotion which is far from the truth. Also his cloths fit quite loose, his uniform is highly customized to fit his fighting style. There is very little covering the right side of his torso. A side from that the torso of his uniform is held up by straps and his skin wrapped in white bandages. an example being it's much like the outfit Ichigo wore when he fought Byakuya after stopping the execution. Personality: Kenji is closed off, vary few ever see his warm side. He's cold and crude to most people and will not bat an eyelash before tearing someone apart. Even then, he's a quiet one. Only speaking when he has something to add to a conversation he is a part of, but when he considers someone a friend. He can hold a civil conversation, In his mind he see's it as a case of 'vary few can be trusted'. In spite of his personality he will aid others in training if it's a subject he specializes in. That being said, Kenji always appears calm. Though he can be upset rather quickly. He tends to also be vary relaxed, this stems from his philosophy that when rigid you cut your reaction time by a fraction. When that fraction could mean the difference between life and death. He is also crude, though he tries to keep it to a minimum. Special Characteristics: Kenji is exceptionally skilled as a swordsman, and in his own style of combat. Taking the form of a draw style, able to mount a good defense with the quick and often lethal single draw when the time is right. Another abnormal thing about Kenji is that his eye color changes to a cold amber shade of gold when in a fight and in sync with the spirit within his zanpakuto. Sealed weapon: Kenji's zanpakuto is sealed form takes the shape of a normal Katana. The sword is rather plane, sporting a Black saya (scabbard) with a dragon design on the inside of the blade when held normally on his side. The Kojiri (scabbard tip) is made of sliver. The Tsuba (guard), Fuchi (collar) and the Habaki (blade collar) are made of silver as well, and the Ito (braid) is made of black silk cloth for comfort in long fights. The Silver Tsuba is a squared shape with indent in each corner and sports two oval holes on each side of the blade. The Tsuba’s design depicts a Dragon surrounded by flowers under a full moon Picture: https://2img.net/h/oi47.tinypic.com/23t2g08.jpg Stats: Spirit Power: 15 Speed: 25 Technique: 5 Fighting Skill: 15 Sealed Zanpakto: - Spoiler:
Tenryū in its sealed form takes the shape of a normal Katana and Wakazashi set. They are held at his side in the traditional Japanese Daishou style. The sword is rather plane, sporting a White saya (scabbard) with a twisting white dragon design twisting its way up from the Kojiri (scabbard tip) to about half way up the saya. The Tsuba (guard), Fuchi (collar) and the Habaki (blade collar) are made of silver, and the Ito (braid) is made of black silk cloth for comfort in long fights. The Silver Tsuba is a squared circle shape with indent in each corner and sports two oval holes on each side of the blade. The Tsuba’s design depicts two dragons at battle ready stances stalking each other around the Tsuka. History: Act one: The life of a warrior. Kenji was born in a time of peace, and into a privilaged family. Son of a samurai, and close military advisor to the shogun he learned the art of combat. The art of using a sword, tactics and general schooling. It was in his blood, and Kenji was a natural. Though a time of peace there were still dangers, it was at the tail end of the shogun's rule. Many where talking of an uprising, but at that point in time they where only whispers. A few skirmash's took place but where quickly. This took place over the course of several years. Bandit raids and such kept things interesting. Though it would not be till the eve of Kenji's 16th birthday that he would have to put his teachings to the test in real combat. While traveling with his mother, father, and a few samurai with the shogun's protection detail the groupe came under attack. His mother was the first to fall, struck in the throat by an arrow. No one knew the attack had started till the thud of her lifeless body struck the road. Then the cries of men off the road caught there attention. While learning the art of swordsmenship Kenji had developed a draw style and this is where it proved it's worth. When his attacker charged Kenji drew his sword intercepting the blow meant for him. Using his thin body, Manuverability and speed he dispatched his attackers with quick, and deadly procision. Once the dust settled the shogun, his father, and himself where left standing. though the Shogun didn't escape injury. They quickly rushed back to Edo for treatment and Kenji's assent into the life of a samurai. His proformance in the ambush showed that he was ready, but far from finished from a learning stand point. The many battles that would follow against poorly orginized bandits and rebels would earn him several scars. forsaking the armor, and using cloths only to keep his Manuverability, and speed. Including a cross shaped scar on his right cheek. Act two: The end and the new beginning. Kenji managed to win several battles, and duels. Upstarts who that because of his age they would be on equil footing skill wise. Or the veteran samurai who let there over confidence and pride lean them to there deaths. But it was one that did him in. In the early stages of the collapse of the Shogunate against the small group of rebles Kenji let his own pride get in the way of his duty. During the battle Kenji took his eye off an enemy for a split second to aid a fellow samurai and was run through from behind. As he lay there bleeding out he could hear the sounds of the battles, but it didn't take long for him to bleed to death. It wasn't until after the battle that Kenji realized he was dead. The Shogun's men combed through the bodies. A cry of pain as his father pulled his body from the pile. That was the moment he realized he was dead. Anchored to the battle field by a strange chain attached to his chest. It didn't take long, a couple days after the battle Kenji was set upon by a stranger in black. And with a short explination of what was about the happen the stranger struck Kenji's forehead with the pommel of her sword and sent him to his new life. He came to in a decent place. Though it looked like the markets of Edo where he spent much of his free time. After some time, Kenji came to learn that not all spirits that come to the soul society have memories of there life. Which Kenji found weird, because he had all his. up to his death. He could still feel the cold steel in his chest. In time he fell in with a group of spirits aiming at becoming one of the very things that sent him there. It seemed a lot like what he did in life. So why not? These where not his friends, his time in battle hardened his heart and iced it over. To be a killer at such a younge age, he had to. Little did he know that the events that lead him to the Shinigami academy would change the course of his afterlife forever. With an already established foundation for swordsmanship, and a limited knowledge on how to control his Reiatsu. He's have to refine his skills and find his new place in the strange new world. Role Playing Sample: ( This was taken from an opening a post in a captains meeting on the old site. ) - Spoiler:
Kenji had been overseeing the training grounds within 6th division, one thing was for sure. This bunch was going to be ready for when they needed to be there duty. He was going to keep their skills sharp, and their minds sharper. There he was walking around the Perimeter of the training, letting the sounds of and yells of the sparing and Kido incantations fill his ears. Kenji was small and lithe, but packed a real punch, and his demeanor was cold and he demanded perfection. Even in death, his father’s influence still shown through in his actions and his training methods.
“You third seat Aketchi keep your feet planted, do not let them break your center of balance. You do, and you’re dead.” Kenji ordered, yes he was a real drill master. But it was for the good of the soul society that he did it. Shinigami needed discipline and structure or else they will fall apart in a real fight. So they had to bear through the rough training and learn to work together. “Recruit! Always keep your eye on the one…..” He was cut off soon enough by a message, extending his hand he let the black butterfly land in his palm and relay the message.
“Very well, I’ll be there.” Kenji released the messenger back into the air to do whatever it did. “Okay, training is over for now, return to your paper work and chores. I will return shortly.” He turned and adjusted his Haori which seemed to be two sizes too big for him. As he started walking from the sixth division, his hand resting on the pommel of his zanpakuto, which like the captain commanders, was a duel zanpakuto…but it held the same spirit. In the form of a long and short sword worn together on his left side, like the samurai he once was.
There was a sense of urgency in Kenji’s steps as he walked; hurried long strides carried the lithe swordsman towards his destination. Walking to the first division HQ would take too long, so with one more step he took off at full sprint, weaving in and out of others. His upper body leaning forward and his arms hanging behind him, the wind brushed his face and causes his crimson hair to sway.
It would not take him that long to get to 1st division HQ, once he used the walls to bypass the foot traffic. Upon reaching the gate to 1st division headquarters he stopped running and started walking once more. The guards at the gate bowed as they opened it for the 6th division taichou, and he bowed in return. Kenji may have acted cold but he could be proper if need be.
Now was the walk towards the captain’s hall, and for once his companion Tenryu was silent…given the urgency of his movements, he was sure that the 1st division shinigami were watching him as he passed by, coming to a stop at the door of the captain’s hall. He took a deep breath and took a step forward, the door opening of its own accord. Onyx black eyes scanned the room, and it appears he was the first one to come. Better to be early then to be the last one that everyone was waiting on, right?
“Sou-Taichou.”Kenji lowered his head for a brief second, his tone dry and cold, his young face much like hers. Blank of any and all emotion, in ways they were alike in that regard. Though Kenji’s was a guard, a guard against betrayal and only one person among the shinigami has managed to get past the mask he wore. She would be present in this meeting, the lithe swordsman stepped up on his platform letting his left hand fall back to rest his palm on the pommel of his zanpakuto.
A man of few words, and more about action he didn't care for boasting. Eye lids sliding shut and his head lowered, he was not falling asleep. More along the lines of readying himself for whatever this meeting was about. Running through possible reasons for an urgent captain's meeting, Invasion? No, they’d have heard something of it before now. Betrayal? Possible, since the former Sou-taichou has gone missing.
So that only left a handful of other options, but it was hard to pin point. Idle fingers taped the hilt of his zanpakuto as he waited, letting his mind wonder about the reasons.
