Triela Lynne Sage - Shinigami 34qafxw

Personality:

Triela is often written off as a “clown” upon first meeting. Her sense of humor being one that a lot of people can’t relate to, but it’s an amusing funny. She likes to talk about people’s interests in a philosophical manner, often asking way too many questions to be considered polite, but also making a person feel as though they’re the most interesting person she’s ever met. In life she was an extremely charismatic person and that allure followed her into the afterlife.

Sarcastically spirited. Those two words were once a part of Triela’s introduction of herself. Her bright personality shining through with every word she says. She likes to make people laugh and loves to see people smiling, often going to extreme lengths to cheer a person up. When looking at her and taking in her small stature, it’s hard to believe that a girl like her doesn’t’ shy away from people, but instead is the exact opposite. She lives for human interaction, she lives for conversation, she lives so that she can help whomever needs her help at any time. Her intelligence is one of the things that is never questioned. She’s a genius of sorts, but doesn’t flaunt it like most humans would. Sure she likes the spotlight, but not in the way most people think. She would much rather be important to one person than to a crowd of people and would rather learn about someone else than boast about herself.

One of the major flaws in Triela’s personality is the fact that she feels no inhibitions to make her believe in God. She was raised in a Christian household and knows her family’s view on religion, but she refuses to believe in such a thing. She wants her actions, her choices, and everything to be made because she’s a good person at heart and not because some superior being is watching and taking notes on everything she does wrong.

In short, Triela is a girl who loves life. She’s optimistic and always tries to give people their best chance at life. She loves connecting with people and she enjoys every day like it might be here last… Because some day… It will be.

Special Characteristics:

Music || It is easy to call a person “gifted” and for someone to love music to the extent that Triela does it would make one think that she was born with talent. This is not true. Triela has no innate talent in this field of art, but loves it with a passion. In life she would practice every day she was able and can play the cello, piano, and guitar. She loves singing and always has a song playing in her head.

Cooking || One of the few things that passed from Demitri to his children was his love of cooking. Triela isn’t a chef by any means, and doesn’t pretend that she has any skill in the culinary arts, but she tries. The girl is a geek of sorts and thinks cooking is more like a science rather than an art. She knows what things taste like and can imagine what they would combine into. She knows temperatures and timers. She can cook, but it’s not a guarantee that you’ll enjoy her wide palate of flavors.

Multi-Lingual || Due to her condition, a lot of Triela’s human life was spent at home sick. This gave her and Aaron a lot of time to spend together and while most kids would spend free time watching television or playing video games her and Aaron studied a plethora of different languages. Before her death she was fluent in English, French, Russian, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean.

Sealed Zanpakto:

Triela's zanpakto is a standard katana with a hilt wrapped in gold and light blue. It measures just under 25" in length.

The entire sword has a silverish-white color to it. The tsuba is round and the design created seeming to be that of flowers caught in the wind. The saya is white in color and made of traditional honoki wood. It has a light blue cord with a golden cherry blossom ornament handing from it.

History:

When Triela was conceived, her parent’s weren’t sure of what to do with her. They were young, in love, and had the rest of their lives ahead of them. Both Allegra and Demitri had dreams that they wanted to pursue and a baby would only be a setback in their lives. Both of them refused to kill the unborn child and talked about it for hours each day. But while they couldn’t kill the innocent baby… They weren’t ready to be parents.

They had both decided that putting Triela up for adoption would be the best option for everyone. Demitri wanted to finish college and start his career in the military so that he could provide for Allegra in every way possible. Allegra was the love of his life and he wanted to take care of her through his own hard work and not his parent’s money. Allegra had dreams of becoming a college art professor and a baby would be hard for her to care for with her vigorous study plan. They both had dreams, big dreams, and none of those revolved around a baby. But upon the birth of their child, they weren’t able to leave the newborn at the hospital as they had originally intended. They were responsible for bringing her into the world, they were responsible for the existence of this baby, and they needed to find a way to make it work.

Not even two years after Triela’s birth, the small family had another child added into the mix. You’d think after one mistake that nearly ruined their lives they’d get the hint, but just like Triela they refused to abort this new baby as well. Aaron was born 1 year, 9 months, and 2 days after his older sister. He was a beautiful baby boy… He would end up being Triela’s best friend… And her savior.

At the age of 6, Triela was diagnosed with an acute form of leukemia and the doctors told Allegra and Demitri that she wouldn’t live past the age of 13. To be so young and to be told that you were destined to bury your daughter was something that Allegra couldn’t handle. She had given up so much for her children. She had given up some of courses… Extended the amount of time it would take to finish her degree… And devoted herself to being a mother. To find out that one of her babies was dying was too much, but that wouldn’t stop her from fighting.

Both Allegra and Demitri had come from prominent families in the New York area and while they had once had hopes of raising their children by themselves; it was obvious that they needed a lot of help. It couldn’t be helped when two people lived lifestyles designed the way theirs were designed; they had already given up so much for their unplanned kids and it still wasn‘t enough… But they were determined to give their children the best chance at life that they could and the only foreseeable way was to hire nanny’s and tutors. They enrolled their children in the best schools, they gave them tons of extra lessons, and above all they tried to keep their children happy. Aaron and Triela were their pride and joy and with Triela’s cancer in a remissive state; they were going to take on the world. They went to Spain, Italy, France, Korea, Greece, England, and every other country a dying girl could think of. Demitri became the father that he never thought he’d be while Allegra continued to pursue her dreams… Everyone thought the family was perfect… Everyone that didn’t see what was really happening.

The year she turned 13 is one that the girl would never be able to forget. It was that year that her parents went through a hard divorce. Allegra had been caught having an affair with one of her high school sweethearts; Michael. The year was filled with yelling and screaming, and the only people who witnessed the entire thing was Aaron and Triela. Being 13 and 11, they both knew what was happening… They both had friends who had parents who were separated and they both could only imagine what that would mean for them. They feared that they would be separated as well… One having to stay with their ill-equipped, but well-meaning mother while another would be taken by their kind, but distant father. They didn’t want to be separated.

When the divorce paper’s were finalized, Allegra admitted to not being the best mother she could be and full custody was granted to Demitri and he took his broken heart and moved his children across the country in an attempt to get away from his ex-wife. She had hurt him and he didn’t want anything more to do with her.

“I think you guys will really like California. There‘s lots of sunshine and your backyard is basically a playground” Those are the words that Triela remembers her father telling Aaron and her on their flight across the country. During his time with his kids Demitri had decided to take up cooking and had made quite the name for himelf. He was passionate about the things he enjoyed and he had the mindset needed to be something great. In New York he had been the sous-chef at a 5-star restaurant. When the owner decided to open a new location in California, Demitri jumped at the offer to be head chef. The owner took his enthusiasm as a sign of his dedication, but really the man just wanted to leave New York and never look back.

Years passed with only a couple incidents with Triela’s disease, but the year she turned 17 the cancer came back with a giant bite. In the final 9 months of her life the girl needed numerous blood transfusions and Aaron was the one providing them for her. They were genetically congruent and he would do anything, give anything, to save his sister’s life. The girl was spending all of her time in and out of hospitals. Her body was failing her and there was nothing more her parents or her brother could do about it. Three months before her 18th birthday is when the disease claimed her, but by that time she was ready to go. In her opinion she had lived a lot more than any other girl her age. She was fluent in six different languages. She had fired a gun. She had personally touched 5 different continents and met people of all walks of life. In the time that the doctor’s told her she wouldn’t have… In the time that religion told her wasn’t meant to be hers… She had lived a fulfilling life.

But everything comes to an end and in Fall of the year she would’ve been celebrating adulthood… Triela Lynne Sage died.

Role Playing Sample:

“Hey Ace?” The girl’s voice was weak as she said her brother’s name. Her body was failing her and while her mind should’ve been fuzzy from all the drugs in her system; it was clearer than it had been in awhile. She was dying… There was no denying that now. Her lungs were barely working. It hurt to breathe.

Laying in the bed, she heard a stirring beside her and then her brother’s hands wrapped around her own. “Tri. Don’t worry Tri, the doctor said you’re going to be okay. You just have to hang in there a little longer. Just a little longer and you’ll be fine. You’ll be able to come home and we can start studying sign-language… Just like you wanted to.” From the tone of her brother’s voice it was obvious that he wanted to believe everything he was telling her. But from how her body was feeling, it was also obvious that he was lying to her. “Since when did we start lying to each other? I mean, we’ve gone our entire lives so far… Why start now?” Even in her dying state, the sarcasm was noticeable. The corners of her lips curving into a small smile. “That’s what Dad told me… I have to believe it. I have to be strong… For you.” From his words it was obvious that he was hurting; possibly even more than she was.

But she was the older one. She was supposed to take care of him. She was supposed to watch out for him. She was supposed to be there for him… Not the other way around.

“Hey Ace… I’m ready to go. It hurts to move. It hurts to breathe.” Her eyes flickered a bit as she tried to focus on her brother’s face. The little boy she used to chase around on the playground wasn’t there anymore. His eyes were sunken in, his entire appearance unhealthy. By being there for her, he was running himself thin. How could their father let him to this to himself? How could the doctors at this stupid hospital let him run himself this low?

Seeing him try to respond to her… She lifted her hand just enough to make him be quiet. This wasn’t a debate. This wasn’t even a discussion. This was her telling him goodbye. “I’ve reached my limits, but you’re just starting to live your life. I’ll wait for you on the other side, but you have to live for me. Live the life I won’t get to. Please.” Watching the young boy nod his head up and down, the girl smiled as she allowed her eyes to close. While she didn’t believe in God or in religion itself… She knew her brother took it on faith. He deserved a better big sister than she could be, but he also deserved a life outside waiting in her hospital room. Laying there… The girl drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
