Personality: He takes pride in being an intelligent man, who is highly charismatic in bursts. Though, due to his upbringing, he lacks the social skills that are a part of society's norms. He is very friendly, but is more than willing to experiment on anyone he dubs worthy when he feels it is a necessary time to do so. He has an attachment to being flashy, and mischief is never far behind him. He can get lost in his rebellious moments.

Appearance: Flan has fiery red hair that spikes to the left side. He has a small Van dyke beard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Dyke_beard) and bushy eye brows. His face is usually plastered with a cocky grin, and he has a very warm air about him. He has leather bracers, with pockets on them for storage of inventions and nifty tools, on both arms. The sleeves on his shinigami are extended and the opening at the ends are widened, to help conceal any tool he may be carrying. He keeps his zanpaktou's sheath tied to his left thigh (On the outside of his shinigami garb of course.). He has a tattoo of a Spade on his right cheek.

Sealed Zanpakutō : Flan uses a relatively small wakizashi, about 12 in in length. The blade has a black hilt with silver lining. The wrapping on the blade is a dark crimson color. The blade itself as a spade and a rose etched incredibly close to where the blade meets the hilt. The blade is light-weight but not quite suited for fighting.

History/Background: Flannagan was born and raised a tinkerer. He lived with his mother in Rukongai, while his father worked for the Research and Development institution since its beginning. He always was incredibly fond of his fathers work and would listen to all of the reports and studies his father had been involved with or even contemplated venturing upon. Flan never had any interest in becoming a shinigami, nor a simple researcher. He wanted to go into inventing head on. He wanted to make life on the field so much easier for shinigami with his work. Like his fathers research had done to help spark inventions from other members of the institution. A lot of Flannagan's chipper resolve came to a halt when news rang of his father's execution. He still had his original goal in mind, though now it was purely for his father's sake. Flan had decided to become a shinigami like his father asked for in his last words before his execution.
