Ren could hear the sounds of the insects buzzing outside of his window. Grasshoppers were the noisiest of creatures... He tossed and turned in his bed for a few moments before he found a comfortable position in which he felt he could fall asleep in. He closed his eyes and attempted to meditate, shutting all of the outside distractions away, leaving only silence...
That is, until is was broken by the sound of a hollow's roar... A female shriek sounded in the night soon after it, no doubt a soul in trouble. Why was it that all of the responsibility seemed to fall on his shoulders when he knew he was forbidden to act in such a situation. To leave the compound at night would be a direct violation of the rules in which permit him to explore outside of it in the daytime. If he were to get caught, he'd never be let out of the compound again...
The shriek sounded again and the spiritual pressure could be felt faintly even from within his room. Whatever it was that was out there was big. He jumped out of bed and began to run towards his bedroom door, he had to alert one of the family heads, they would be able to slay whatever terrorized the poor soul out there... but what if they chose not to, then there would be no hope for her at all... He turned around and headed towards his window, if some one was to help this person it would have to be him.
Ren slid the paper window open and hopped through it into the cool night air. He was still in his pajamas but it didn't matter, there was no dress code for fighting hollows. He rushed along the wall until he was able to see paper lanterns lighting the pathway. Ren could also make out images of the guards standing by the gate, there would be no way to pass them unseen... He moved away from the light and found a spot where the wall wasn't too far from a building. He backed up to the wall and ran towards the building, jumping and kicking off of it, giving himself just enough air to catch the lip of the top of the compound wall.
He crawled over and ducked into the shadows provided by several cherry trees. Using the shadows for a minute or so, he made his way down a path that he used to go to the park. He felt the spiritual pressure growing stronger and stronger as he neared it until it felt even more powerful than his own. He could hear it's roaring and the girl's muffled cries, it sounded as if he were crushing her. Ren dashed out from under the trees into the opening in which the hollow stood, looming over his kill. "You bastard!" Ren's hands lit up in golden flames as his anger built up. This thing just made a new enemy...
