Field Trip. (Kaiyo.)

The night was cold and quiet, and really, the only thing to do was either drink at the nearest pub, or fill stay inside the squad barracks. And it just so happened that today was one of Saroki's 'Sober' days. And today she was inside her office filling out paperwork. She was almost finished, having gone through a rather thick stack of papers, she felt a bit proud. As she stamped the last paper a hell butterfly fluttered into the room; Saroki's eyes lit up, she was dying for something important to do today, and the recent lack of work had made her a bit worried. After a few minutes the briefing was over, and Saroki was left disappointed.

She was to lead a group of 5 academy students into the world of the living and show them the basics of hollow combat. The whole mission just sounded boring and uneeded; Plus, she never really taught anybody before, she believed that skill came from a persons spirit, not from a book. But alas, she didn't really have a choice. The hell butterfly mummered one last thing, a list of the shinigami she'd be leading. All of them were students who showed promise, but one name in particular interested Saroki; 'Buzz' There was no information on her, just the name. Saroki growled quietly, she didn't even tell her superior her real name. This was starting to look a bit ridiculous, but it didn't seem like she had a choice, at least she'd be able to spend more time with this character now, maybe she could get some answers...

Saroki grabbed the hat she confinscated from 'Buzz' and put it on. She grinned, and headed out to the nearest senkai gate; Just about everyone in her squad was there, except for 'Buzz'...Saroki didn't bother aknowledging anyone in the squad, she just walked to the front and stared straight into the gate, waiting for the last member to arrive.

Kaiyo glared at the teacher, silently seething as she was informed of her latest mission. It seemed that even allowing herself to be awful in combat class, her inability to hide her reflexes had left her more noticed that she'd hoped. She couldn't exactly refuse. Still, Kaiyo had planned on faking an illness, until she heard who was taking the group. Saroki. A glimmer of intrigue shot across her eyes.

Her mind raced back to the many laps of running and beatings she had taken because of Saroki getting her in trouble, that, and the girl still owed her the hat back. Kaiyo rubbed her eyes lightly, nodding to the teacher obediently. The brown haired girl rolled her eyes slightly, 'Really...Now?' she added with a hint of disgust. Not sure why she had been told so late. She couldn't argue, she had to run over to the Senkai gate. It was silly really, from the academy, Kaiyo could have flesh stepped there in literally a second, but no, she had to run.

Maybe it was because she missed Saroki, maybe it was because she wanted her hat back. In all honesty, Kaiyo couldn't explain her reasons for showing up, but show up she did. Panting lightly the brown haired girl jumped off a nearby rooftop, landing just inches away from Saroki. Her hand flicked forwards, hoping to snatch her hat back before she realised she'd arrived. The other 4 students were all too wrapped up in talking battle tactics to even notice really, though they did seem a little on edge about fighting real hollows.

Saroki looked up at the sky, sensing the area around her. She was waiting intently on 'Buzz' to arrive. After a minute of waiting, Saroki started to feel a small, faint pressence that was unmistakable. Saroki waited untill she was as close as possible, and then; Saroki bent her back as far as she could untill she could clearly see Kaiyo. But before Saroki could say something sarcastic and snappy Kaiyo's hand slammed into her face. "HMGPH-!" Saroki made a muffled yell; The hat that was previously on her head fell down onto the ground, the shinigami around the two reacted to the situation in their own way.

One laughed, a few simply smiled, and the remaining just observed with curiosity. Saroki removed Kaiyo's hand from her face and crouched down, making sure to grab the hat that fell onto the ground quickly so that Buzz wouldn't have a chance to take it from her. Saroki put the hat on, and started marching forwards, she wouldn't aknowledge what just happened, she figured nothing good would come of it...

The group entered the senkai gate, and after a small waiting period reached the outskirts of Karakura town. Saroki looked around. There were quite a few people out and about, not a very safe battleground. Saroki started walking down a sidewalk that would take her to the center of town, where presumably all the more advanced hollows would be. Saroki looked back, checking to see if everyone was following her. Since this was simply a field trip, she figured she shouldn't have many problems with keeping all of them safe. 'Just a few dozen hollows and we're out of here, no problem, right?' In all honesty, Saroki was a bit nervous about the mission. She never liked having responsibility, and something as big as keeping a group of shinigami alive...It was a bit too much. No matter how she put it into words.

Kaiyo whipped her hand away as quickly as she could, stunned that Saroki had moved in time for her to smack her face. That clearly could have gone better. Kaiyo quickly shuffled back as Saroki plucked the hat off the floor and back onto her head. It seemed like people had expected her to be killed for the action, though most of the other students didn't know it was actual her hat.

Kaiyo strayed to the back of the group as they entered Rukongai. The chosen potential students had decided to remain silent, their own nerves as clear as the panic strewn across their faces. Even Saroki didn't seem too certain, though she was a lot harder to read of course.

Kaiyo sighed lightly, her eyes tracing along the skyline as they walked towards the hollow centre. This had been a bad idea, she could already tell. The silence though, that was getting more difficult with every step. Kaiyo didn't cope so well with silence. The other students clearly viewed eachother as competition, so getting paired up for any kind of patrol shouldn't be too be. Despite their being an odd number. 'So...What are we doing exactly?' she asked cautiously, trying to sound as polite and respectful as she could. Still avoiding her own characteristics, Kaiyo was sounding complacent about most matters now, trying to hide her enthusiasm for some hollow slashing.

A taste of combat, much like her sweet tooth, Kaiyo found it difficult to take only a taste. Still, it seemed interesting at least, regardless of the motley bunch she had been put together with, and Saroki stealing her hat. It still beat Kidou classes. With nothing better to do during their walk to doom, Kaiyo allowed her eyes the momentary vanity to survey her new team-mates.

Clearly they all excelled in different area's, classically so. So much even that one might never assume them to even conceive the idea of holding each others backs in combat. Still, they had been chosen for their skill and raw talent. Kaiyo pondered which of the 4 would be the best fighter; she pegged on either Nero or Jikuro. The female in all black didn't seem cool enough, or too cool. The complexities of Kaiyo's own mind were sometimes too hard for even her to grasp.

She smirked lightly, oblivious to the vaguely similar reactions of all the students. Fear...Excitement...Determination. All mixing and whisping along behind Saroki, each students reiatsu flairing as they neared closer. All but Kaiyo's at any rate, she didn't get so excited about a first taste of combat anymore and she wasn't trying to act tough around these people. In fact, this was about as calm as Kaiyo had been in a long time. Then again, serenity usually hit her before the battleground.

Kaiyo shuffled her shoulders awkwardly, still un-accustomed to having her Zanpakuto across her shoulder. That and carrying a sword that wasn't your own, it was heavier, without a doubt. With no real connection to the blade she mas as well have been carrying a plastic spoon for a weapon. 'Are you?' the snappy retort of Kairi was spoken with no remorse, she even managed to show little emotion on her face. Kaiyo chuckled lightly, 'You're not trying to scare us are you?' she added in a playful tone.

Saroki slid her hands into her pockets, letting her eyelids hang abit. The group was now entering Karakura Park, the thin stone path would lead the group to the center, where presumably all the action would be. Saroki smirked, her squad was more enthusiastic than she first thought. Their spiritual pressures were ablaze, a perfect situation for Saroki's plans. However, she did realise that all of this reiatsu converging on one point could have been seen as worrysome, as a more advanced hollow might be drawn to it. She pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind though, figuring that now was not the time for that.

The 3rd seat didn't respond to Kairis response, she simply let out a short, quiet chuckle. Not that she considered herself a veteran, but she knew as well as any other high ranking shinigami that the academy students were very fiesty. Saroki's eyes widened, the group was now in the heart of Karakura park; A few civilians were in the vicinity progressing in random daily tasks. Saroki kept a hand near her zanapkuto, just in case of a sneak attack. She looked up at the sky, she could feel a progressing reiatsu that was closing in on the group.

"I advise that everyone keep's their minds sharp, something is coming..." Saroki breathed in deeply afterwards, oh yes, this reiatsu was thick and strong. She would have to deal with it quickly, as this hollow itself would attract numerous fledglings. Saroki refreained from unsheathing her zanpakuto, as doing so before actual confrontation was a sign of weakness in her opinion. She could feel her blood rush through her veins, she hand't experienced such intensity in at least a month. She took a step to her right, feeling three more spiritual energies. Yes, the newly formed hollows were starting to appear. "I think I found some weaklings for all of you...Meanwhile...I suggest you spread out." Saroki took a few more steps untill she was a safe distance away from the group, whatever was coming was strong. Stronger than any hollow she had recently faced, she would say at least adjuchas status. She prayed that her comrads could take on the other hollows by themselves...

Kaiyo clenched and un-clenched her fists as they entered the very centre of Karakura park, the cracking sound of her gloves muffled by the noisy park. Amused by her fellow students reactions to the human souls that were so oblivious to their existence. Of course Karakura was known for even humans with higher reiatsu, so a few noticed a breeze following the group.

Her own head tilted up to the sky in equal time with Saroki, unable to help herself inhaling heavily as the red head spoke. It had been far too long since Kaiyo's blade had cut through a hollow. She was practically getting withdrawal symptoms. er hazel eyes flickered between Saroki and the sky. Instinctively, Kaiyo wanted to make sure Saroki was safe. A deep run care for one of her closest friends in the Gotei 13; Kaiyo swallowed the urge to kill the hollow on her behalf. Things could end fairly badly if she did, and Saroki could handle her own hollows. In fact Kaiyo had more faith in Saroki than most Soul Reapers she had ever met. She was just caring for her friend.

The three hollows that followed appeared quickly; drawn by the larger reiatsu. The rest of the group didn't need telling twice. Fresh out the farm and ready for blood, they all set off as fast as they could. Team-work vanishing as quickly as they did. Kaiyo held a lingering gaze back to Saroki, eventually shooting a reluctant nod to her leader as she turned and ran. Flash stepping might could give her game away a bit. Kaiyo was lagging behind her team-mates. Each spreading across the park, creating a vague web for each of the hollows to fall into. They held a distance to Saroki though, even the fresh meat could tell they were out of their league against her opponent.

The first hollow tore through the sky with a large roar. A rippling wave of energy ruffling the wind against her hair as Kaiyo twisted around. Changing her direction quickly as the hollow appeared. Just a few metres away from Kairi. The other two hollows appeared behind it as well. Clearly they hadn't quite grasped the concept of spreading out. Kaiyo unsheathed her blade in an instant, tentatively jogging across the park to the girl, the other three students did the same. Kairi didn't move though, not an inch. Her blade still unsheathed she was just standing there. The hollows roared in time with each-others. A red hue forming at their mouths. Kairi was still standing her ground. Kaiyo wasn't sure if she'd just frozen or something. 'Hey! Move!' she yelled across to the tall woman, increasing her own speed as she began sprinting towards the girl.

Only then did Kaiyo realise what the woman was trying to do. Flash step. Flickering swirls of her reiatsu danced around her feet. The woman had clearly never done it before, and considering the fact that her energy was aligning itself more on one foot over the other. She'd just end up crashing in front of the monsters attack. This woman was clearly insane. Kaiyo pushed her body forwards, the other three were further behind than she was, and even she wasn't going to make it in time. It wasn't impossible for a student to be able to flash step in a tense situation like this was it? She didn't have a choice.

The intense red lights grew and grew, compressing the air around the hollows in a vortex of energy. Kairi leant forwards as she prepare to make her move. Kaiyo grimaced as the cero's shot forwards.

The brown haired girl rolled across the ground, her arms tightly wrapped around kairi as she let go. The ground still shaken and broken from the impact of the cero's. Kaiyo had only just shunpo'd in time to catch the woman. Of course with no thanks from her, in fact Kairi flailed her arms against Kaiyo's grip, slapping the girl off as she scrambled back up to her feet. 'Don't fuck around with my attacks!' she snapped, throwing a quick kick to the short girl who'd just saved her life. 'And when did YOU learn how to flash step?' she snarled angrily.
