The brat and books.

Kenji sat against the furthest wall of the academy library, taking a load off after a hard days training. Some of these fools think it's glorious to fight, it just shows how big of an ass they make of themselves when a real fight does come up. At this point in time, he had a book resting on his thigh, which kept it up thanks to his foot being placed on the ground so close to his body. Cold dark eyes scanning the pages before him, which contained all the laws in the soul society and explained there duties as shinigami.

Resting against his right shoulder was the hilt of his zanppakuto, which the sheathed tip rested between his legs, his left hand keeping the sword in place against him. A sign that at one point in time did everything with a sword at his side in one way shape or form. Kenji had a bloody past that he kinda wished that he forgot when he passed over to the soul soceity but the memories were as clear as day. That and what he had in sword skill had carried over as well. So not everything is bad about the situation.

It was just that the two went hand in hand and whenever he smelled blood...memories came back and the knot in his stomach returned. The smell made him sick, at first it didn't bother him, but over time and as he became turned to the smell....the more it got to him. But that was the past, now it was time to see to his future.

Shin walked into the library and looked around and the people and shelves before walking over to one of the shelves and looking through the books present there. He was looking for a good book about the duties of shinigami, seeing as he only knew as much as any other person from the Rukongai, which honestly was nothing more than the basics, such as protection and the fact that they fight hollows. After a few minutes of searching he managed to find a good book on the topic, even though it was rather large, and he'd had to ask someone to get it down for him because it was out of his reach.

He took the book over to a table and plopped it down on the table and sat down on a chair, but unfortunately because of his height he wasnt even in a position where he could read the book sitting down. He thought about it for a moment, he really didn't want to stand on the chair and sitting on the table would be rude. He ended up hauling the book off the table and going over to a place where he could just set the book on the ground and read it that way. The floor wasn't exactly comfortable but he couldn't use the chairs and tables so he didn't really have much of a choice in the matter.

He glanced around, it seemed there were a few other people doing the same thing as him, though they all seemed tall enough to use the chairs and tables, he kind of had to wonder why they weren't using them. One person seemed to be reading the same book as him, but shin just ignored him and flipped through the book until he found and interesting topic, "The individual duties of each Division." and started to read.

Kenji sat there, reading the book that was resting on his thigh. He didn't know what to expect but something caught his attention from the corner of his eye. Black orbs moving as he followed the kid that walked through the stacks. He was surprised that they let young souls into the academy, his face remained blank as memories played back in his mind.

Kenji never had a normal childhood while he was alive, from a young age he was made to practice swordsmanship, He even took his first life at the age of 16, Blinking away the memory of his past he cleared his throat and returned his eyes to the page. Left hand turning the page, while his right kept it's grip on his zapakuto. He didn't know what the kid could possibly offer the gotai 13, but that wasn't his place to decide. He was here, to grow stronger and become what he was in life.

He was a swordsman among the top on that profession at such a young age, He wanted that again, to have the power to protect in his own way. He didn't have time to worry about others, he had to focus on himself.
