Bad company (anyone can join)

After a week of solid work a week or rest. Koleri like others of his organization had been given an larger workload. In a week's time he left the country nine times. All the flying around had given him jetlag. He was so tired and weary that he spent the first two days of his break sleeping and doing nothing. He had massive headaches and and the light made his headace even worse. He groaned and ate some canned food he had brought with him as rations on his trips. Each job was simple, find the target, and plan devices. Although he ecelled at killing the number of non-lethal jobs were given to him as much as the lethal ones. The Illuminati were everywhere and knew everything, so they often had spying missions that needed to be done. The more they knew the better off they were. Koleri wondered why they needed to bother when they could use spy satellites anytime they wanted. As much as he wanted to know he didn't care since he got paid more than enough for his hard work. He sat up from his queen sized bed and stepped into the shower. It was a very nice hotel room. There was at least a 40' tv on the wall. He was surprised to see such luxury in Karakura. Although he didn't like the green color of the walls he found it comfortable enough. As the water fell over him the last bit of fatigue fell away. The steem filled the bathroom as he went into a daze. His eyes closed as the water continued to flow and sooth his tired body. Then the phone rang and his paradise shattered. Koleri turned off the water and stepped out of the bathroom. There was no one that knew the number to his room, and he had left instructions to no be disturbed. That meant only one thing, work. Wrapping a towel around his waist he reached the night stand and picked up the phone. "Yes? he answered not even bothering to say hello. "You're up." came the voice of his handler. "Something just popped on our radar, and you're the closest agent available. Normally we'd leave it to the other guys, but this thing is too close too one of facilities." Koleri groaned, there was no way to weasel out of it. "I'm sending the coordinance to your phone." As Koleri began to towel dry himself he looked at the location on the phone, less than half a mile. Tossing the phone down he opened his closet.

Half a mile away and minutes later

The hollow had enjoyed it's meal of three humans and set it's sights on the fourth. The creature had tore into the small store of the mall and corned the people. It was an area tucked into the corner of the shopping center. Six more bodies lay in the corner all unconscious. By knockig them out he got to enjoy his meal in peace. That was until a gray figure came crashing through the door. Koleri sprinted through the store's front wearing a gray trenchcoat. His badge clutched to his left hand as he entered. The hollow turned as he formed his weapon. The hollow leaped sending it's body through the ceiling. Koleri held the arrow in his weapon He could feel the spiritual pressure above him. He ran over to the location the hollow had jumped and saw the bodies of those it had killed. There was a scream and he jumped up after it.

It was around 4:00 AM when Anashi stumbled across the rampaging hollow, it wasn't hard to locate it's positions from all the screams. What a mess this was, the hollow had practically torn the nearby buildings apart, walls were missing and windows shattered, blood and gore were laden in multiple places on the road. Anashi didn't bother to examine the extent of the damage, she was more interested in the hollow itself. It was a fierce looking beast at the first glance, but why was it acting so brashly? A rampaging hollow wasn't exactly a rare thing, but why would a hollow spend so much energy and time destroying the environment? Was it dying? Had it gone mad from hunger? Curious, Anashi planted her back end on the roof she was ontop of and kept a watchful eye on the beast, afterall it could only keep this up for so long. She kept herself occupied by imagining how wonderful the hollow would taste, the power that would surge through her after the meal, and the promised fullness it would give her. She felt a few flickers of joy before she sensed a strange reiatsu in the air, it wasn't too far away either. She hopped down from the rooftop, rolling forwards as she hit the ground. She took a few quick looks around, the pressure she felt, it wasn't one of the sword-wielding humans he met before, nor was it a normal soul or another hollow like herself...It was something else entirely.

Anashi continued into the mall at a comfortable paced run, she counted the thuds of her hard feet on the cold black concrete to pass the time, after about a minute she reached the general location of the hollow, it wasn't all that hard to navigate a mall afterall. The hollow seemed to be fleeing something, and just as she realized what was happening a humanoid appeared from around a corner a few feet behind the hollow. It was revealed to be a fairly average looking boy with the exception that he was holding a large, blue growing triangle of sorts. While Anashi pondered the rampaging hollow turned it's attention to her, and with speed that matched her own it closed the distance seperating them in a matter of seconds. Anashi shifted her sight back to the hollow, she was so startled she could hardly move. As the monsterous creature raised it's fist in preperation to strike Anashi, she only had the time to cross her forearms infront of her chest to block some of the damage. And to a degree it worked, the gray metallic material coating her arms fractured in multiple places and she was sent tumbling backwards from the force of the blow, she ended up crashing into a bench and a vending machine, but the hollow was determined to consume Anashi, it charged forwards to finish the job, meanwhile Anashi was regaining her senses, recomposing her body for the fight, this time she would dodge this brutes attack...

"You got trouble." came the voice in Koleri's ear as he made his way through the hole. People were running and screaming in every direction. The room he was in was a wreck.Home applicances were thrown about the floor. Many of them broken under foot of the hollows escaping. He held his bow ready, but there was nothing in sight. Not only broken merchindise was on the ground, but bodies as well. Humans had been trampled by the hollow running. Koleri felt some guilt but figured even if he wasn't there to fight it they would have died anyway. He leaped over the dead bodies foolowing the path of carnage that lay ahead of him. "What kind of trouble?" he asked as he left the ruined shop. He didn't need an answer as he saw what the handler was probably talking about. Instead of one hollow there were not two. A part of him was hoping for good news like reinforcements were on the way things always got worse before they got better. Sonovabitch. He drew back a arrow on his bow as the hollows were distracted with each other. He targeted the bigger of the two hollows and let his arrow fly. The blue arrow slammed into the big hollow's shoulder. Koleri had aimed for the head but at the last minute the hollow had moved just enough to make it a miss. The creature howled in pain and turned it's back to the other hollow in front of it. Koleri had hoped to take it out with a single shot, but now he had gotten it's attention once again. He pulled anotehr arrow back, but then the hollow's mouth opened. A orb of water came flying out of it's mouth and dropped to the ground to avoid it. The ball of water tore through the like butter while drenching him.

Anashi watched as the stranger shot an arrow of what seemed to be condensed spiritual energy at the large hollow. The arrow pierced it's shoulder, a small fountain of blood sprang from the wound, the hollow roared in agony and turned to the quincy. Anashi thought for a moment, which target was more dangerous? This hollow wasn't a pushover, that much was certain, but the boy was an unknown entity, she had no idea what he was capable of. She figured it would be foolish to go after a foe that was shrouded in mystery, it would be easier to attack the large hollow. She began sprinting towards the large creature, keeping an eye on the boy, who could turn and attack her at any time. Just as the large hollow had finished spitting out it's ball of water Anashi pounced, catching the beast by surprise. She would dig all of her claws into the beast, securing herself firmly onto it's back before she began to bite large chunks of flesh out of the beast. The hollow let out a loud bellow in sheer pain, it reached around it's back with it's large hands in a desperate attempt to grab Anashi. She sensed the danger of the situation and let herself drop down to the ground, one of the beast's hand's reached for her head, but she managed to duck in time, her opponent's hand gliding inches above her head. Anashi remained crouched and raised her left hand, aiming her open hand towards her opponents face before shooting out a gob of blood with the force of a bullet. The blood hit the hollows face, the force behind it knocking him back a few feet.

Anashi jumped back a safe distance to let the blood do it's work. The black blood covering her opponents face began to puff up and gain texture, it soon became a fleshy muscle, it's color an almost sickening pale green. The flesh covered the hollow's face, making it virtually impossible to see. It would attempt to pry the flesh from it's face, but it was of no use, the flesh had already bonded to it's mask. Anashi wouldn't have a lot of trouble finishing this hollow off, but the boy would be troublesome. If she didn't consume the hollow quickly the boy might take her kill. She thought deeply on the situation. Sangre would be useful, but should I really allow the boy to see one of my powers so quickly? She finally decided that it was too brash to assume the boy would be a challenge, and revealing one of her abilities so soon would be a bad idea either way. And she'd be damned if she was going to hand over her prey to this weakling. Anashi charged at the large hollow, who was at this point still struggling to pry off the flesh stuck to it's boney mask. Anashi hopped onto the hollow's head, she dug her right hand into the back of the hollows neck, her legs would push against the front of the hollow's shoulders, in this position she would have free reign to attack the hollow's mask directly. Anashi pushed her left hands claws together to form something that looked a little like a spearhead, she then thrusted her left arm into the hollow's mask, she pierced the bone and her arm entered the hollow's insides.

She left her arm inside for a brief time before pulling it out, blood sprayed everywhere. Anashi enjoyed the gory scene, the smell of the blood drove her wild like a wild animal. However the large hollow had managed to cordinate his movements even after the shock of it's mask being pierced. It raised it's arms and grabbed Anashi, try as she might she couldn't break free of it's grasp. With it's powerful strength it threw Anashi like a baseball right into a wall just a few feet to the left of the quincy. Anashi didn't have the luxury of recovering from the shock of the impact, the small hollow scrambled to her feet and readied herself for combat. She had yet to notice that the bone armor covering her upper torso had fractured in every place. She was in a bad position, she kept getting injured by this damn beast, and she hadn't even started to fight the boy.

One hollow was bad enough, but two was not something Koleri wanted. The word trouble didn't do the situation justice. Ideally he'd just let the two duke it out and take on the hopefully weakened victor. But his mission was to protect the area. When fights occured in such public places they needed to minimize colatieral damage as best they could. The fewer people that die the better. The public tended to noticed when alot of people go missing at once. There could only be so many gas leaks or anthrax scares before people got suspecios. The less destruction to the buildings the easier it is to clean up. So Koleri had to kill them quickly, but it didn't look like either one of them was going to sit still and die. He picked himself up from the floor and shook the water from his hair. Lucky for him the large creature didn't have time for a follow up shot. All the water in his clothes had pasted him to the ground. He'd have been crushed by the water cannonball. He groaned. The weapons he had stashed in his jacked were all wet. Not like he should be using explosives in such a place.

Slipping and sliding he stood up and pulled back another arrow with his bow. The other hollow was on the attack, a perfect opportunity. Or not. He fired just as the smaller hollow moved away. Whatever it had done to the bigger one made it thrash violently. It's sudden movements made it dodge the shot. He wondered if the hollow heard the hiss as the bolt flew by it's head and embedded itself into the wall. Koleri thought it best to move and dashed across the floor to stop behind a half broken pillar. His right hand now free he slicked his hair backwards out of his face. He peeked from behind his stone cover to see the smaller one attacking again. Once more he leveled his bow and pulled back a shot. This time the arrow hit the hollow's hand just as he grabbed and tossed the other hollow in his direction. "Damnit" he said as he rushed from his hiding space. He blindly fired two more shots as me moved. One sailed over the hollow's head the other to the right of his target. He was more worried about finding cover than hitting him. The hollow howled and the whole building shook. Koleri found a new safe place behind a wall. He looked over at his target. He had to do a double take; the hollow was bigger than it was a moment ago. In the few seconds he had taken his eyes off the target it seemed to have doubled in size. They were in the open area of the mall giving them plenty of room to fight. This place had probably been the food court. He saw several trashed booths and stalls all around him. It would be difficult if not impossible to contain such a fight if the hollow got any bigger. "I'm really going to need that back up!" he spoke into his earpiece. There was no response. The water must have shorted it.

The hollow didn't it was if it was waiting it's spiritual power pouring off it's body. "Fine. Now that you're bigger you make a better target." he growled and fired his shot right between the monster's eyes. Nothing happened. He could only stare as the arrow hit it's mark, but had no effect on the hollow. The hollow's mouth opened and Koleri ran as another ball of water came at him. He could hear it crush the wall behind him. As he looked at the target it's body wavered slightly. Behind a new pillar he looked again. Just barely he could see a shifting in the air around the hollow. Koleri pulled back and fired again, but this time he noticed arrow he fired come out behind the monster on the right side. He ran again before the hollow could aim it's next shot. As he moved further right he saw the light filter in behind the hollow. A rainbow of color spilled around it. Then Koleri saw it; a clear sphere was around the hollow. Water. A bubble of water distorting it's appearance. A distortion using water like a magnifier. It looked bigger, but it was the same size it was a moment ago. It would seem it also had an effect on his arrow. Diffraction? That meant he had to get in closer to actually hit his target.

Anashi watched as the boy dived behind cover, moving from place to place while shooting his strange blue arrows at the large hollow. Meanwhile Anashi would regain her senses, stumbling a few feet forward. She was surprised to see the sphere of water her prey created, it seemed to make long ranged weapons useless, each arrow entering the sphere simply drifted off into a completely different trajectory. She was unsettled, what would happen if she tried to enter the prey's sphere? Would she drown? Or would it make entering impossible? If the shield could block off entrance entirely the arrow would've crumbled upon impact, but it didn't...Still, it was too much of an unknown factor to rush into blindly. The small hollow picked up a few chunks of rubble and hurled it at the larger hollow in the hopes of learning a little more about the bubbles properties. She didn't expect to learn much, to truly understand the ability she would have to force a live specimen to enter the bubble. The boy was the best canidate, but there was a sort of unspoken truce between the two, the larger hollow was more of a threat afterall. She was simply at a loss at what to do. The chunks of rubble simply drifted in the bubble of water, soon leaving it and dropping to the ground around the prey. It had now taken notice of Anashi and began to charge up another ball of water. Hmmm, perhaps it will tire soon... Anashi schemed that if she could tempt the prey into using it's water cannon it would sooner or later tire itself and be forced to drop it's protective shield. Unfortunately the watery sphere had loosened the flesh stuck to the prey's mask, and with it loosened the prey would tear it off with relative ease.

The prey shot the ball of water at Anashi, in response she dived to her left, the ball of water smashing into the wall behind her, making a loud crashing sound. She didn't stop after executing her dive, she began running, circling her prey. Just as planned the beast continued to shoot balls of water at her, but the beast was obviously pretty bad at space invaders, it kept missing by mere inches. Nonetheless it kept trying. Obviously all of this footwork and careful maneuvering took it's toll on Anashi, she could only keep this up for so long. A few moments later and the prey had ceased to fire at Anashi, perhaps it's energy was finally depleting? The small hollow stopped her body, she sorely needed a few seconds to catch her breath. Had the prey finally wised-up? Or was it simply tired? She hoped it would be the latter, but there was no way to tell. At this point she hoped that the boy would take advantage of the situation, afterall the prey had it's full focus on Anashi. She didn't really believe any longer that the boy was a threat to her hunt, between the watery shield and the prey's tough skin it would be very difficult to destroy it in one hit. With the bubble of water in affect Anashi couldn't do much to harm the prey.

The idea made sense in his head, but the actual execution was the hard part. Getting closer to the target when it had such a strange defense wasn't going to be an easy thing for him to do. Koleri tried to think up some alternatives to the problem. Each time he tried to run a new scenerio the answer still remained the same. He sighed and tried to figure how to get closer. Thankfully the second hollow grabbed the water hollows attention. It was the perfect distraction while prepared to attack. While the smaller hollow played the part of decoy he began to think of how. He didn't want to rush straight at it. Just as he thought about circling from behind a piece of the upper pillar fell down. The crash made him look left than up. Of course nothing was there, but he still was worried another hollow would jump out at him at this time. His concentration broken as the pillar he looked at the floor above. With the second floor being the food court the third floor over looked it. Koleri spotted the escalator and ran for it. The two hollows were too busy to notice his dash across wrecked floor. Koleri jumps up the steps two at a time til he reaches the 3rd floor. He doesn't stop to catch is breath as he circles from the higher area to get behind the hollow below. The building shakes as the water hollow launched another blast. Another shot was fired and Koleri could feel the ground tremble beneath his feet. "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea." he said as he held onto the railing for support. There below him was his target. He watched as the other hollow dodged it's shots. He wondered how far he would drop if he missed. He wondered how bad things would be if he was wrong. He backed away from the railing and took several steps back. Koleri took a deep breath and looked at the rail many feet away. With a groan he ran as fast as he could straight at it. At the last moment he kicked out his let and used the rail as a spring board to launch himself up and over. For a second it was like he was flying. His body hung in the air as if by magic then gravity and reality took over. Koleri dropped like a rock. Below him was the water hollow. Clutching his badge he formed his bow in his left hand. He was seconds from landing on top of the hollow. He took a deep breath.

There was a splash as he broke through the water. His eyes flinched as the cool liquid rushed to swallow him. He kept he eyes open enough to lock onto his target. It felt like he was sinking to the bottom of the ocean, but his feet quickly landed. He stood on top of the hollow within it's bubble. Below him was the very shocked hollow. His right hand pulled back on his bow. The blue arrow lit up the water as he launched it downwards. The blue arrow ripped a hole through it's mask and out the other side. Long cracks began to form from the hole made. The hollow's roar was amplifed by the water. It knocked Koleri off his footing. Now he sank head first to the bottom of the bubble. Just as he tried to right himself the water shell broke and he was sent to the ground gasping. The area was flooded as the hollow screamed and clutched it's shattering mask.
