In the first months of training Arawn had made quite the habit of visiting the 4th squad with all his injuries. At one point they jokingly said they'd keep a room open for him. Oddly enough they were not kidding. After his return from Hueco Mundo he spent nearly eight days in this private room under the watchful eye of the medical personnel. After the fall it seemed he had fractured several bones, broken his ankle, and suffered a mild concussion. The healers took their time in treating him. Once again his reiryoku was in an agitated state which prevented the more potent healing. They attributed it to the concussion that he had suffered and thought nothing more of the matter. While healing kido was more than capable curing most wounds and injuries. It would seem the 4th squad was also able to use traditional methods as well. In those first 4 days he had tests done and was give a variety of treatments. Ointments, elixirs, pills, injections (which he hated), and just plain rest. He had to just a try to put some pressure on the ankle from time to time to test it's progress. The rehabilitation was rather short. The week ended with a final examination, he seemed to be well enough to get back to his own quarters. Of course they demanded that he report back within the week for a follow up. As well as to be reminded several times to call if anything happened before that. Arawn agreed as he left their barracks and headed for home.

Arawn found his quarters untouched since his departure to Hueco Mundo. In actuality he'd only been in the hollow's home world for less than a day before coming back. It was his injuries that had kept him away longer. No one had visited him during his time at the 4th squad. Truthfully no one had known he was there. All those that had returned from the trip were quickly escorted to the 4th for medical attention or to the 1st squad for debriefing. Everyone was rather tight lipped about the whole affair. On his second day of care a nurse named Kyoko had asked what had happened. He had thought her a nurse and explained how he didn't know anything. Much later he found out there was never such a nurse with that name in the division. Afterwards he had dropped the matter. He was curious to know what had happened, but decided it was best to wait.
For several minutes Arawn stood in the doorway of his room. The place was spotless. He had cleaned before he left. Not only was it clean, there was no work on his desk. After a week in a bed, he didn't feel like sleeping. With a grin he left his chambers and headed toward the main lab. As he entered the institute he recalled the medic's words; light duty. He was to avoid any strenuous activities and heavy lifting. Arawn laughed at the memory. They must have forgotten he was in the 12 Division, there was never any_

KAAAAAAABOOOOOOOOOOOOM

An explosion rocked the building. This wasn't rare, but Arawn wasn't expecting it. The 12th squad had it's "accidents" so an explosion was rather tame when it came to possible outcomes. As he wove his way through the corridors he happened upon a demolished wall that was still smoking. It would seem this was the source of the explosion. Strangely enough it wasn't a project lab, it was a research room. Research rooms were set up like a miniature classroom fused with a library. A chalkboard on the far wall, computers, several desks, and walls filled with books. It was odd indeed for an explosion to start there. Arawn peaked through the large hole. There were two figures in the damaged room. He spotted a familiar hunchback. Well to be fair there weren't many hunchbacks he knew. He an another man stood over one of the less charred desks in the room. All of these things were gone. Burnt to a crisp as black as midnight. The smoke was still thick, but Bryce and his companion didn't seem to mind. Both of them coughed, but made no effort to leave.
"What happened here?" Arawn finally asked unable to wait any longer. "I thought I heard and explosion."
Bryce turned around at his words. His eyes widened in surprise. "Arawn! Perfect timing, we have a problem!"
While part of him he hadn't gotten a 'Hello' from his friend, the look on the short man's face was troubling.
"What's going on?" he repeated as the man motioned him forward. When he got closer he saw what was on the burnt table: a charred piece of a circuit.
"There's a problem with phones." Bryce started. Had a phone caused the damage to the room? Arawn asked himself. "This is the newer model phone we just produced. But it seems there's glitch. When it receives a signal it starts and system overloads."
"Wait it overloads when it gets a call? How could we miss that!?" Arawn inquired. Suck a defect should have been noticed.
"Well it seems that it's because of the software update we just applied. Otherwise the system works great."
"Let me get this straight; all the shinigami's phones are now bombs?" he said "And we can't call them about it because it will cause the phone detonate." The hunchback nodded. "We need to warn people, can we send out butterflies?"
Bryce shook his head. "No, there a none in the area thanks to last month's incident." Arawn slapped his face and groaned. "We've halted all communications, but that doesn't stop shinigami from calling each other. Most of the squad left out to warn people while the rest try to fix it." Arawn sighed and hurried from the room.
"Light duty..." he scoffed as ran through the hall ways. He emerged from the building and looked around. The sun was barely peeking over the horizon. He simple picked direction at random and shunpo'd. He moved across the buildings until he spotted a man walking along an alley.
"Hey!" Arawn shouted before dropping down from the rooftop. The man stopped and looked up. "I'm sorry to bother you, but I need your help." It took a minute to explain the situation, then it took another two minutes to convince the man he was serious. "I need to you warn anyone you see. ANYONE. Do no use your phone. Now go." The man was terrified, but ran at full speed in the other direction. Arawn continued on his way. He had traveled the equivalent of a block when he heard the first explosion.

Ezrachek woke up that morning with a smile on his face. He was finally starting to feel at home in the 12th squad, although he had yet to meet any of the other seated members save the captain. He was curious to see just who he was supposed to be working with and decided to go to the sparring center to train his zanjutsu. Although he was now a scientist, it was no excuse for him to let up on his fighting skills. He spent a few moments setting up the dummies around the sparring center to his specifications. He began training, He spun in circles slashing deep cuts into the wooden bodies. He finished his first set with an airborne strike as he pushed off one wooden body, flying high into the air. He summersaulted in the air, coming down hard with his blade slashing down onto the head of the last wooden body. The entire exercise lasted somewhere around a minute or two. Ezrachek leaned over, placing his hands on his knees as he began to catch his breath. His health was declining. Thoughts, possibly from his conscience, came into his head about possibly reporting to the 4th squad, but he waved them off as he sheathed his zanpakuto. He cleaned up the broken dummies and left the area. He had duties to report to the intelligence center of the 12th squad, where he was in charge of monitoring the events within the 12th squad. He sat in his chair and began staring at the multiple screens. Most people disagreed with the 12th squad's ability to have these monitors, saying that it was an act of espionage against the Gotei 13, however, Ezrachek happened to enjoy the ability. It saved from any unexpected mutinies. Ezrachek grabbed his phone from his pocket and flipped it open. He had no calls during the day, which wasn't odd. Ezrachek had just made it a routine to check it occasionally. He slid it back into his pocket and went to stand up.

BOOM

An explosion rocked his office as he lost his balance. He fell against the desk, smashing his ribs against the sharp edge. He coughed in as the dust from the room was lifted into the air. Ezrachek stumbled around as he headed towards the door. He had to get some fresh air. He fell against the door, slowly pushing it open as he crawled out into the open. The biggest issue with that monitoring room was that there was no circulation, so if something like that were to happen, it began a death trap. Ezrachek breathed deeply for a few moments and finally gained the strength to stand up. He held his ribs as he moved his uniform aside. A quarter sized bruise had already formed on his bottom ribs. He cursed at the pain and decided to take a walk. He walked down a path that headed towards the 4th squad's sector. Ezrachek felt a buzzing against his chest. He pulled out his phone and a zapping noise emitted from his phone. Ezrachek freaked out as he saw a blue spark emit from the phone. He cocked back his arm and flung the phone away from him.

However, the phone had only gotten a matter of 2 feet away from him before exploding. Ezrachek was thrown backwards, crashing into the wall of a nearby building. A window smashed above him as glass rained down on him, some falling beneath him, making for a nasty fall. Ezrachek rolled over in pain, groaning deeply. A warm feeling rolled across his chest as he felt the liquid. He slid his uniform aside and saw the blood rolling from his ribs. A shard of glass was sticking from his ribs as he ripped it from his ribs, causing it to bleed more. He tried to stand up and collapsed as his lungs expanded and filled with the blood. He coughed violently as blood came from his mouth. The taste of the blood made him sick and he turned his head away from his body. The fluid from his stomach came rolling quickly up this throat as it was propelled from his mouth. He wiped his mouth, hoping to rid the taste, however it failed. He crawled away from glass bed that he had fallen on. He didn't get far before the corners of his exposed eye began to close in. He was beginning to black out. He had no phone, and due to an incident in the 12th squad, no Hell's butterfly to request help. He needed to find some way of alerting people of his presence. He grabbed the R.E.F. Grenade from his sling that held his zanpakuto. He looked at it, realizing that if the phone had exploded anywhere lower in altitude, Ezrachek would have been blown to pieces. He pulled the pin and threw it about 15 feet away from him. He watched it collide with the dirt floor as the Mercury Fulminate shards flung from the grenade. He shoved his face towards the floor in order to keep from being blinded. The multiple explosions rocked the floor as Ezrachek began to completely fade from consciousness.

He silently hoped he had misheard , but the distinct sound of an explosion was hard to make. The echo died quickly over the still sleeping city. A part of him wanted to run and check on it, but at the same time he knew he couldn't ignore his mission. In the time he took to double back and find out what happened he could prevent several more explosions. Arawn could only pray that no one had been injured in the blast. Although a part of him wished again that what he heard was not in fact an explosion. That hope was shattered by the second sound the was then heard. A second one? So soon? Upon hearing it Arawn pushed himself harder. He had to tell everyone, anyone. The warning had to go out as quickly as possible. With their current communication network crippled things were difficult. He was tempted to just use shunpo and race around the fortress. But he would tire to easily and be of less use to anyone in that state. Had the others made contact with the other squads? As he wondered this he spotted a small group of shinigami walking on a side street. He diverted his course to intercept them.
"Hello!" he shouted before he had even gotten close. "I'm from the 12th squad, I have something important to tell you." He waved his arm frantically. The three males stopped in their tracks. He took a moment to catch his breath. "There's system problem with the communication services, do not under any circumstances use your phones. They will explode. If you have one now, turn them off. Please." The men stood speechless, then started to laugh.

"You're joking, right?" One of them asked one of the others nodded. He too thought this was some elaborate prank. He reached into his pocket and retrieved his phone. Arawn recoiled.
"Please put that away, turn it off." he said as he raised his hands defensively
The man grinned and flip the phone open. "What's wrong? My phone going to go BOOM!" he jerked the device at his friend who fell over and started to spasm. The other man laughed as the man on the ground continued to jerk. "Don't be silly man my phone has been on this whole time, nothing's happened."
"I'm serious about this, please turn the phone off." Arawn warned.
"No, no, let's make a call." the man pressed buttons on his phone. Arawn's eyes widened and he rushed at the man. Before he could get close the other man grabbed him. The second man wasn't that much bigger than he was, but he had enough to hold him at bay. His friend with the phone dance away. "Let's see who shall we call?" he pressed more buttons then put the phone to his ear. The man on the ground stood up as his phone suddenly rang. Arawn froze. A second ring. All 3 of them started to laugh. The third ring that came out was garbled as if it was being held under water. There was no other warning as the phone detonated. The unfortunate shinigami was the furthest away from the rest. While no one else was harmed by the blast, the force was still enough to floor everyone. The man at the epicenter of the blast was torn in half. Not a single person present wasn't painted with the deceased shinigami's blood. All three were stunned. The first to recover was the man that was holding him, he wiped the blood from his face and then looked down at his hand. Arawn recovered next and shook him violently tearing his eyes away from the smoldering spot the man had occupied.

Ryushiro Rayone practically jumped from his bed when the sun rose in the morning. He was ready for his day, and his meeting with the omnisutkido in the Gotei 13. He was unaware of the death of the leader and the issues that had come with it. He was unaware of most of the happenings within the walls of the Gotei 13. He was only a tool now a days, used by the Gotei 13 whenever they needed a quick kill

OOC: Skipping EZ and finishing thread.

The horrible scene replayed itself over and over, but it was out of his hands. He had tried to warn them, to prevent it from happening, and they had laughed. Now the reality of the situation his them harder than a ton of bricks. The man that had made the call now threw his phone to the ground and scrambled to get as far away as possible. His remaining friend continued to stare dumbstruck. Arawn now free from his grasp merely shook him trying to get him to stop looking at the severed torso. He didn't have time for this. As much as the present scene churned his stomach, it could start happening all over Seireitei.
"Get a hold of yourself!" Arawn said as he shook the other shinigami. "Listen to me." very slowly the man's eyes shifted to look at Arawn as if for the first time. There were tears welling up in the corners. The shaking continued until the glazed look faded from his orbs. "Go! Warn everyone, or this won't be the last one! Go." The words started to slowly register. The man pulled away from Arawn and turned away from his deceased friend. He ran. Arawn wondered if he was running to tell others or just running away from the dead body. Either way he was glade he was gone. Arawn took one more look around him. He too wanted to be gone from this place. Silently he promised to send someone to come and take care of the body. Until then he would continue with his mission. He leaped up and away landing on the wall and raced forward.

There were minutes he saw no one. Those he met he told the same story. His blood stained appearance frightened some. He tried to clean himself before approaching the next group. The next group were more forgiving. So he raced through Seireitei. Some looked at him with surprise and others took his words to heart. It was his sixth stop when he noticed the black butterfly fluttering up to him. The small creature landed on his shoulder mid stride. Almost instantly the message sounded through his head.

Arawn, we've managed to shut down the main communication grid. Using a subsignal and the hell butterflies we've alerted most everyone about the phones. The problem is some of them are still able to transmit. With the captains' permission we're deploying a low level EMP in the area. The phones shouldn't work, but so will alot of the devices. Using the sub network we'll get the rest of them.

He stopped as he let the message repeat before the butterfly took off. Arawn relaxed. Exhausted he took a seat on the edge of the building. He didn't know how much damage had be wrought by the devices, but it was good to know that things were under control. How long would it take to them to fix the matter was another problem entirely. For not the communications were down to a bare minimum, so things would be difficult for awhile. Arawn sighed. Perhaps he'd take his time getting back.
