Challenge! Shinigami vs the mutt (arawn)

Min Kyung left Hueco Mundo immediately to return to his forest outside of Karakura town. He made his way to the forest trees and sat calmly on the edge of the treeline. He wagged his tail and jumped up to the tallest branch of the tree, feeling the cool air through his white fur. He turned his body to face the edge of the forest, and the town of Karakura. He wagged his tail, cracking it like a whip on the wind as he awaited the shinigami from seireitei.

Late nights had gotten dull of late. Arawn sat with Bryce watching movies he'd pirated from the human world. Say what you will about the short hunchback, but he was genius with computers. Sometimes Arawn would wonder if the man dreamt in binary. The power the Bryce had at his fingertips rivaled any power Arawn could summon with his zanpukto or kido spells. At least the short man's skills provided some measure of entertainment as they manned the terminals in the communication stations. Honestly Arawn wasn't there to work. Thanks to his position he was immune from the mandatory shifts at the keyboard. Still he didn't mind coming down and visiting. The movie on the screen was reaching a climax; the hero had finally found his daughter who had been kidnapped by evil space terrorist. The man on the screen reached into his black trenchcoat and pulled out a sawed off shot-gun. Arawn did his best not to snicker.
"How what he hiding that when he fell off that building two minutes ago?" He asked aloud at the spectacle. He didn't mind action sequences, but bad storytelling he couldn't ignore. "And why didn't he use it on that ninja vampire?" Bryce's tentacled reached out and slapped Arawn across the face effectively shushing him. Pushing the slimy limb away he resumed watching the scene unfold until he heard laughter from a few terminals away.
Arawn popped his head up to see two of his division members laughing. Such a thing was rare, so he felt a need to investigate. Pushing his seat away he moved to see what amused his squad mates so.

The laughter of the two people swiftly ended as Arawn drew near. One of the two men had small horns on his head in the shape of a mohawk. Two more horns grew from the man's chin intertwined like tree branches make a stately beard. The other had large one inch ring across his forehead as if he had failed to push his head through a halo. The ring changed with moods. Currently this ring glowed yellow embarrassment. Ironic, with people with such odd appearances saw him as the odd one. His reputation as a scientist was overshadowed by his ability as a fighter. By no means had anyone in the squad shown any battle prowess. The moderate skill in that field made him an oddity among the freakshow cast of higher thinkers. Once again his rank came in handy; he was higher rank and some measure of authority.
"What's so funny?" He asked simply as they tried their best to not give a dirty look at him for ruining their fun.
"Sorry, sir." Spoke the spiked man a very dry 'sir' at that. "We didn't mean to disturb____" Arawn held up his hand, he didn't like the false pleasantries any more than they did. The man shrugged and looked at his companion who's ring now glowed pink: certainty. Or was that gas? Arawn needed to write these things down. "This recent report came in, take a look." The man pointed at the screen.
"It would seem a single hollow led an attack on Seireitei" the other man said as Arawn read the text. "Not only that, but the hollow told the man to meet him in Karakura to fight him!" unable to contain his mirth any longer he erupted into laughter. His friend began to giggle his ring now turning green. "That student has a great imagination!"

"Perhaps." Said Arawn as he finished reading and looked at the spiked man and his companion with a smile. He patted them on the backs and ran from the room. His zanpukto slapped against his thigh as he moved through the corridors of the 12th division's research department. Within seconds he was out side and vanished. A simple shunpo and sent him high into the sky and now he kicked off the air sending himself towards the Senkaimon. The wind howled as he flew and finally stopped at his destination. He dropped like a stone from the dark sky, but landed as if he had barely take bunny hop. Those standing guard at the gate hardly looked surprised to see him suddenly appear. Such thing were commonplace it would seem. There were other shinigami gathered at the gate and stepping through one after the other. It reminded him of a post office. People taking a number and waiting their turn. Arawn waited his turn and had the black butterfly flutter out to him as he focused on his destination. The doors opened and Arawn stepped through the light. Seconds later Arawn was stepping out the portal into the edge of the forest that was in Karakura Town. The air felt fresh and clean against his face. Wasting no time he reached into his robes and retrieved his phone. The screen lit up and the radar swept the area. Sure enough there was a faint hollow signal. The student wasn't lying. Arawn gave a grin, he wanted to see what kind of hollow would challenge a shinigami to a duel. Slowly he started walking in the direction of the waiting creature.

Min Kyung looked in amazement as the man came through the unworldly gate, landing softly on the ground. Min Kyung smiled a wicked smile in seeing that the yound shinigami wouldnt come fight himself feeling the increased strength in this man's reiatsu. It was greater than that of Min Kyungs, however that made him smile even more. Wow! Exciting! A stronger opponent. Finally a challenge! Min Kyung thought to himself watching the strange man look into the forest. Min Kyung cracked his tail off the wind like a whip, announcing his presence, certain that the man would have already sensed his reiatsu. He flared his tail wildly, making noises of constant explosions of firecrackers. Once satisfied with the man's attention, Min Kyung retreated into the forest, starting the fun little game of cat and mouse.

He needed to win this battle before the man could release his shikai, so he couldn't carry on this fun for too long. He traveled only a few meters into the forest traveling from bran ch to branch quickly, randomly switching his path making it hard for the shinigami to keep track of him. He landed on a a branch, looping his tail around the branch as he hung upside down on the branch. He dropped quietly into a bush, hiding for his ambush to take place.

It would seem his arrival hadn't gone unnoticed as there was a loud series of cracking sounds from the direction his phone indicated. Arawn stopped. He had hoped to catch the creature by surprise, but that wasn't going to happen now. With a small shrug he focused his eyes on the phone as the signal started to moved. The hollow was running? Was it because the shinigami he desired had not arrived or was he now challenging Arawn instead? He had come to satisfy his curisity, but he could just as easily just call it in. This wasn't his designated area after all. Even as he had that thought he remember what awaited him; a rather subpar movie. Keeping the phone out Arawn shunpo'd towards the direction of the hollow's signal. Now longer a small signal the beast reiatsu was flaring violently. There was no denying his intent now. So he wanted Arawn to follow him? Truly it was a strange creature that was in the woods. When he reappeared he found only empty forest. The hollow was moving very quickly, he had just missed him. He could see motion through the trees in the distance. To move so swiftly through the area meant it might be familiar with this forest. Did it frequent this area perhaps? If so Arawn would have to be on his guard. The hollow would probably use the terrain against him. Being at a disadvantage so soon in a fight wasn't a very good sign. Still he couldn't deny his excitement. Was this hollow really a fool or something else entirely. Just standing there waiting wasn't going to answer that question. Arawn looked at the phone once more to orientate himself and started off in the direction the hollow was running. Using shunpo in the dark woods might not be beneficial. He ran in silence the only sound were his breathing and the crunch of nature beneath his feet.
