| Arawn sat in warehouse turned lab spinning in his chair while twirling his pen between his fingers. He'd given little thought to the paperwork before him. There were no pressing matter, no deadline. Having completed his work Arawn had started on the work for the next week. Budget projections and time tables for various projects. Everyone filed reports so that all view points could be considered. Sometimes there was overlap sometimes there was not. Either way input was gained from all perspectives to further the overall development. Such was the case with Rover. So far he'd had a multitude of people face off against the mechanical monster. Tall, short, skinny, fat, fast, slow; almost a rainbow for combatants. Happily there had been no deaths during the testing process. The robot could be lethal, but with proper care such danger was avoided. Arawn continued to spin looking a the machine standing in the open area. Arawn sighed. There was no testing today for Rover, both Bryce and Simone were elsewhere. They had agreed that they would not have Rover active without all three present. If the machine went berserk someone would have to use the kill switch or verbal command override. In actuality the reason for that rule was for Simone and Bryce's benefit. Of the three only Arawn had some form of combat skills to fight with the robot and possibly ward off it's attacks. Also of the three he was the only one that could use shunpo successfully. Of the former; with all the added combat data and testing Arawn doubted he could best the machine so easily. As for the latter, while he was confident he could outrun the creature, a prolonged chase wouldn't be in his favor. A sigh escaped from Arawn again. Doing paperwork was hardly helpful in improving himself. Of late he'd been too busy for anything other than work and sleep. Master Sung hadn't sent for him in awhile either. Upon visiting his home the door was locked and no one answered when he knocked. "I really need to practice more." he muttered while the pen spun on around his thumb and dropped to the floor and rolled under the desk. His eyes rolled back and he sighed again. He leaned forward and too suddenly and headbutted the desk. Lights exploded behind his eyes and the jarring pain rushed from his head to his toes. Arawn gave a yelp and quickly placed his hands on his head covering the growing bump. He sat there for several moments wincing in pain and biting back tears from the accidental strike. He sucked in air between his gritted teeth. The pain lessened, but the embarrassment didn't.
He looked around the wide open area. There was no one there, but him. No one had else had seen his moment of idiocy. Well there was Rover, but he was deactivated. He couldn't see anything, nor could he do anything. But that didn't keep Arawn from venting his frustrations out on it. "What are you looking at?" he said aloud. His voice sounded funny in the big room alone. With a rush of reiatsu he pointed that the metal statue. "Bakudo #1: Sai." The metal on Rover's arms turned crimson, but they didn't move. Arawn had forgotten about the sekkiseki polymer they had developed into the armor. While it had made the machine quite heavy it gave it some resistance to reiryoku and reiatsu based attacks. It was quite similar to the testing ground targets he sometimes used. Arawn now grinned. Indeed Rover was a very nice sitting target. The pain in his head a distant memory he hopped from the chair and reached into his pocket. He retrieved his phone and began opening it's menu. Not long ago he had asked Bryce for an application for kido spells. It was embarrassing to say, but Arawn was prone to forget things. As such the listing was to keep track of the many spells at his disposal. It had chants, descriptions, and even names of spells he had yet to master. A nice spell encyclopedia. His finger moved the cursor through the listing. He was quite shocked at how many kido he had yet to learn. | |

| While he had a willing target, the area to discharge kido was hardly ideal. The building wouldn't be able to withstand a full on attack. So once again he had to pick his spells wisely. There were some let destructive Hado class spells he might get away with, but he thought it best to try some of the more passive Bakudo spells first. That was the more practical approach. "This way I won't do too much damage to you" he said aloud to the silent Rover. He didn’t know why he even bothered speaking, it wasn’t like the robot would respond to him Instead he stood there in the awkward silence looking over spells. “Alright this should be a good start, not too messy either.” he said having decided upon a spell. Normally he’d take his time working on spells, but he wasn’t about to sit around studying the spell for day then make notes. At this point all he needed was reiryoku and focus. He began to let his energy flow throughout his body. The energy hit the air making it vibrate slightly. With his right hand stretched out towards Rover, he clutched the phone with his left. Slowly he read the words off the phone’s screen.
“May these strands of silk fasten to mine enemy.” he spoke trying to push his reiryoku into one spot. “Bakudo# 38: Spider’s web.” In an instant the white silk formed at his hand and flew outward. The thin white tendrils danced in the air like and army of snakes. As the crossed the distance between himself and the robot. Once they reached their destination they attached to the shiny metal instantly. In a matter of seconds Arawn and the machine were connected by the airy little strands. The webs connected from his palm to the robot in various places almost invisible to the naked eye. For a moment the shinigami stood there shocked. The spell had gone off with out a hitch on the first try of all things. Honestly he was abit disappointed, he had hoped for more from the spell. But judging from the description there wasn’t much else to it. Arawn pulled on the strands that were connected to his hand. Despite their appearance the threads were quite tough and didn’t break in the slightest. “A nice substitute for rope I guess.” Arawn muttered. As the words left his mouth a sudden idea hit him. “Hado #11: Tsuzuri Raiden.” the spell was one he’d done before so it was easy for him to focus his energy without a chant. The result was instantaneous; the small thin threads came alive as electricity ran along the path they created. The invisible threads were now bright trials of lightning that convened upon the robot. The machine’s body became red as the energy struck it. Arawn quickly stopped the flow of energy ending the attack and then let the threads dissolve. He gave a grin at the interesting combo he had just used.

Arawn’s smirk faded quickly as he looked over the other spells. While they were effective he felt the didn’t exactly match his style. It sounded stupid, but he was more interested in the efficiency and effectiveness of a spell not just it’s function. Some spells gave similar in functions so learning all the spells was pointless. Instead trying to focus on effects he could use as well as their application. He quickly walked over to examine Rover’s body. His last attack didn’t even leave a single mark on the machine. “Ōkasen.” he said as he phone highlighted a spell of interest. A simple spell from what the screen told him. Nothing too dangerous. The other spells he’d learned so far all had fire like attributes, this one seemed to lack that. All he had to do was aim the shot at Rover. “Good didn’t want to only be learning bakudo.” he muttered. Obviously offense was just as important as defense and visa-versa. Amazing thing was it was an older spell. Arawn could have sworn he had learned all the spells he had considered interesting. Instead it looked like he had overlooked it in his zeal to find other spells. Well no time like the present.
This time Arawn switched hands as he brought forth his inner power. He flexed the fingers on his left hand as he looked over the words on the screen and spoke them aloud. “The second sun born, it’s light fades upon the horizon. Burning without flame in it’s soft dying light. Hado #32: Ōkasen.” A orb of yellow light took shape at the palm of his left hand. It was so small he thought he had failed in casting. The ball of yellow energy fluctuated at he finished the spell. While he did expect it to fire forth, he didn’t expect it to fire in an arc. Rather than a beam it became a nearly flat wave to hit Rover and also past him on either side. It was like the battle robot was a rock in the middle of a river of yellow light. The energy hit into the wall and breaking it rather easily. Arawn flinched as if he’d just stubbed his toe. Luckily that was all the energy had done. As he had mentioned the room wasn’t fortified fro such things. It could have ripped a hole all the way through the wall. The description didn’t say anything in regard of the wide firing angle. As he scrolled down on the page of the spell he noted that it was usually cast with a sword. Arawn made a mental note to try it later, for the most part he felt that it was too much trouble to cast the spell inside the building.
