The New Kids Temper(Kyro)

Kain sighed as he walked onto the sparring grounds. Reaching up he tried smoothing his hair then dropped his hands again, giving up on the futile action. He had finally managed to get his hair somewhat manageable then another person had ruffled his hair. This was just plain annoying, no one ever ruffled the others hair. Just his. Didn't they know how hard it was to get his hair to not be a mess. Shaking his head Kain looked around the grounds, a slight smile on his face. This was one of his favorite places in this place. Where people could prove their skills and no one deny that fact because of how they looked.

With a smile on his face, Kain hopped over to the edge of the nearest sparring circle and sat down cross-legged, watching the combatants. This was another reason he came here. He had found out early that if he saw someone fighting it became easy for him to fight that same person. He didn't know why, but their moves were so much easier to read. Like that big guy fighting now was about to try to body slam his opponent. But it wouldn't work, his opponent was much to fast. Grinning, Kain watched as his predictions came true. Thinking back, Kain realized that it had always been this easy for him. Just before it was watching someone to pickpocket, now it was watching them to see how they fight.

Biting his lip, Kain looked around. He wondered if the winner of this spar would fight him. He doubted it, they would probably think it to embarrassing or demeaning to fight a kid. At that thought a scowl crossed Kain's face. He hated being called a kid, even though he secretly called himself a kid. How many times had people called him a kid here? To many times to count, it was unbearable. At least back home he could do something about it. Here it was against the rules, he had to be polite and not fight.

Kyro and Mia entered the Sparring Grounds, their eyes roaming the room to see what kind of skill the students had. They had come seeking opponents other than one another, as it truly did grow boring sparring with the same person day after day with absolutely no one else thrown into the mix. So, they had come here, to find a Student near to graduating that would make for a good opponent, or at least someone who would make for a good opponent. As they walked around the perimeter of the room, they talked about and laughed at the obvious flaws in many of the forms of the Students, ones that, once they had become Shinigami, had been forced shut.

"Well there's something you don't see everyday," Mia said with a grin, pointing to a Sparring Area where what looked to be an eleven year old child sat observing the other fights. Kyro turned to Mia and gave her a grin, which she returned, and then he turned and sat down at a bench, observing the extremely young-looking Academy Student as he observed the other Students. Mia sat down as well and crossed her legs, just as interested in the odd Student as her friend. They sat there for a while, but Mia, ever the impatient one, finally couldn't take just sitting there any longer and stood, walking over to the Student.

"Hey, kid! What're you doing out in the Sparring Grounds?" she asked. Kyro shook his head in disbelief at her boldness in words. He knew that she didn't mean to sound condescending, but to anyone but her closest friends, meaning himself and Sukeno Tennu, 5th Seat of the 5th Division, she would no doubt sound very rude. Kyro stood and moved over to try and defuse the situation as quickly as possible, not wanting to anger anyone, especially not an Academy Student, as they needed to be able to concentrate during their classes, and one generally couldn't concentrate when angry.

Kain stood up slowly, stretching as he watched the spar winding down. It was almost time for him to prove he wasn't just some kid. Then he heard that word. Someone had just called him a kid. It was obviously aimed at him, he was the smallest and youngest one here. Anger written all over his face, Kain slowly turned to look at the woman coming towards him. He opened his mouth to say something but he noticed the man walking up behind her. He wasn't sure if he was her boyfriend or something, but he didn't need him yelling at him and calling him a kid to.

But who cares? He was already having a bad day, how much worse could it get. And if it got better cause of his temper then it was worth it right? Opening his moth again he answered the womans question "I'm doing a lot more then asking stupid questions like a certain woman i see!" Shaking his head, Kain would stomp closer to the woman and look up at her, "And your so rude! calling me a kid! I'm a lot better then just some kid!" Scowling Kain would look over at Kyro. I wonder what he wants. Probably to insult me again, Kain thought. Just what i need, another tough guy going to prove his worth by picking on me.

Well not this time, he thought. Pointing at Kyro he would once more open his mouth to speak in an accusing tone "And why dont you keep your friend from being so..so..Ru-" at that point his voice would crack "-de!" Shaking his head in anger, but at himself this time he would look back to Kyro expectantly.

Kyro's eyes widened at the rudeness of the Student, thinking it quite improper for one to speak to two Shinigami like that. Of course, when he considered the fact that it was because of the rude way that Mia had spoken to him, he didn't really blame him. Still, he would have a word with him. He stepped forward, moving Mia aside, who's eyes were wider than his own at the way the Student had spoken to them. "Mia, would you please go get me a training sword? I need to speak with this child for a moment," he said to his friend. She nodded, knowing that Kyro must have something important to say if he wanted her gone for a moment. She moved off to collect a training weapon for Kyro.

"Now listen here. You are an Academy Student, not a Shinigami, and so you will show Shinigami proper respect. I do believe the proper way to teach you respect is through combat. I trust that you don't mind that?" he said angrily to the Student once Mia was out of earshot. He looked to the right and saw her returning quickly with a training blade. "I will be the one who teaches you respect," he continued. He stood back up to his full height as Mia returned with a training sword, and he took it, nodding at her in thanks. He then turned towards the Student, aiming the wooden practice blade at him. He motioned to the Student to stand, and to get a practice blade prepared for combat.

Kain blinked as the man reacted differently then he thought he had. He had been in the academy for a while but he still wasn't used to things. Like, before if he had done something like this to those bigger then him they would have left him alone. Why bother picking on someone who can yell back? But apparently that wouldn't work here. He had actually miscalculated a situation. This was probably going to be a painful lesson he had to learn. This would be the last time he let his previous life affect his decisions here.

However Kain grinned. So this man wanted to teach him a lesson by hurting him. He doubted this man could hurt him as much as his former gang could, so why not indulge him? And if by some miracle Kain won, then even better. He nodded to Kyro before running over to a rack with the practice weapons. He carefully looked each over before picking up a bent wooden rod a couple inches longer then a wakizashi but smaller then a katana. This would do, the same size as his real one.

Moving back over to where Kyro was he looked at the sparring circle and realised the previous fight was over. So their wouldn't be a wait, even better. Turning back, Kain opened his mouth "By the way, my names Kain. Not kid." Moving past Kyro, making sure to stay out of arms reach he moved into the Circle, taking his place at one end of the circle. "And it'd be my pleasure to learn whatever you have to teach. Though i hope the first lesson here will be to her, and how not to call me a kid!"

Kyro growled at that final insult, and so as he took his position, his anger building, something that very rarely happened, he was very ready to teach this brat a lesson. As soon as they were both ready, he came in, his wooden blade coming in from the left, and then the right, the same motion repeated over and over again, building momentum as he moved. He played out his anger in those attacks, and then moved into strategy, having calmed himself somewhat in that unthinking barrage. He brought his blade forward in a stab, halted his momentum, and then arced his training weapon, bringing it around to strike at the Student's neck. Then he hopped back, not looking to see if he'd done any damage or not.

"Kyro, I'll just be watching!" called Mia, and then she moved back to the bench and sat down once more, a smirk on her face, thinking that the bratty Student was about to be taught a lesson, although she'd been the one to inadvertently anger the extremely young-looking Student. "Teach him a lesson, would you?" she called out, just for good measure. Then she crossed her legs and grinned as she watched the fight progress, believing the fight would be an easy when for Kyro, although nothing was certain, not in the least bit. Kyro stood on the balls of his feet, ready to spring into action at the first sign of movement from Kain. His eyes were slits, his anger plain to see. But he wouldn't let his anger effect his fight.

Kain smiled as Kyro growled, so this was his opponent? A Shinigami that didn't know how to hide his temper? this would be easier then he thought, though he cant get cocky. It might all be a ploy. However if it wasn't, then he knew just what to do. His eye's wide, an easy smile on his lips Kain waited. Their it was! The hurried steps, the repeated motions. Theese were so easy to read. Charge to meet him, raise the practice blade then... Hop back out of reach of the first swing.

Nodding Kain hopped back again, moving back from each of the wild swings. This was true anger then, the final sign. The easy and predictable movements. He was just waiting for the inevitable slip up that happened to these bullies. Their it was. Raising his practice blade to strike his eye's went wide as he noticed the change in Kyro. He had somehow gotten past his anger, or maybe it had been a feint the entire time! Kyro's blade was coming in to fast, it was going to stab him in the throat. He started to bend backwards then noticed the practice blade changing courses. Hmph so it was a feint, but it wasn't well thought out. Feinting after that change of tactics took to long. Stopping his backbend quickly kain leaned forward, dropping into a ready crouch as the Practice blade flew over his head.

Hmph, maybe he wasn't so smart! He's not paying attention! As kyro leaped back Kain charged forward, hoping Kyro's uncaring about that last strike would aid him in this. Aiming a quick slash at Kyro's stomach as a distraction kain gathered his legs beneath him and dived, Twisting as he does so. Moving past Kyro as he twists he'd aim a hard kick at the back of Kyro's knee before flipping away. This was more like it. A big opponent not thinking things through.

Kyro had to admit, Kain was good. He slapped Kain's training blade out to the side, and then spun as he launched a kick at the back of his leg, bringing his own foot up to catch the Student's at the ankle and yank the foot high, causing him to collapse to the floor. Mia stood, thinking the match was about to end, and grinning as she did, her anger not yet gone. Kyro, though, knew that his rash decisions had been what allowed Kain to almost knock him to the ground. It was time he showed this kid the difference between an Academy Student and a Shinigami. He hopped back once again, and threw a glance Mia's way to let her see that he had a plan.

"A Single Feather Flutters. Sojourn on the Clouds, Bend the Wind on My Wings. Hado No. 16, Sonic Wave Arrow," he spoke quickly, and then he raised his free hand, open, palm facing the direction of Kain. With a smirk, he fired the Hado as the invisible 'V' of wind formed, shooting through the air in the direction of the Student. It was an incredibly fast Kidou for less powerful Shinigami, and he grinned, thinking he had the Student cornered. However, not one to take chances, he was already into the next casting phase. "May the Black Sounds of Those that have Felt Death Emit and Destroy. Hado No. 7, Black Lightning."

The electricity immediately began to build up in his palm, and as it built, he forced it to rolled around his hand, shooting between his fingers. He aimed his hand, finger tips forward, at Kain, and then fired that Kidou as well, the black lightning exploding in the direction of the Student. As it was a more wide-spread technique, it formed a kind of net behind the first technique, which would make it much harder for the Student. He had heard from Draylon that he had once made an example of Shioshi, both of them other Shinigami, when Shioshi had challenged him to a fight before he'd graduated the Academy and after Draylon had. Kyro hoped for a similar result here. As the Hado reached the area new their target, Kyro waited to see what Kain would do.
