| Hania had used up most of his savings to purchase the large mansion he had heard so many rumors about. They said that there used to be a family of vampires living in those walls, never coming out during day. At least that was one of the rumors...there were others, too, such as the mansion being haunted by the murdered wraith of the previous owners, or that it was secretly the hideout of a mad scientist who was killed in a gun fight with local police. There were even reports stating that there were traps all around the house to ward off curious children seeking hidden treasures.
All of these rumors were a load of crap to hania, save for one: the rumor about vampires. he was a Bount, and his race was often considered a kind of vampire, so that one might indeed hold a bit of truth. That was why the mansion had been so intriguing to him...it would serve as a wonderful home where most humans left him alone. He could access different parts of the town this way, shopping for a few years in one location, then swapping to another to keep his profile low.
Hototo also loved the idea, for she could be in her normal forms as much as she wanted. No room service coming into the apartment to tidy things up, making her hide in those cramped rings. She could run around and stretch her legs as much as she wanted! it was a win-win situation.
Slowly, the cab came up to the driveway, the taxi driver getting out to assist Hania in unloading his luggage. He was, after all, paying the driver a hefty sum of money to assist in moving to the mansion. Taxi drivers had no need for credit checks, or identity checks like movers required: they got cash, and they were happy.
After dragging his belongings into the house, he looked around. it was fully furnished, and just needed a bit of dusting...it would do for now. he would also begin looking for those like him, if there were any out there. Living alone for hundreds of years was truly boring and got old real quick...
"Alright...time to start searching for housemates...Hototo, you are going to have to start working rather hard in order to find others like us. We'll get this house filled and begin forming a life with others like us. no more being alone..." | |
