| Ikaru’s tail wagged menacingly over the hollow that stood before him. The life light in the eye of his combatant had dimmed considered as the two clashed amidst the swirling circle of violence that had erupted within the forest of Menos. It wasn’t often that lower class hollows showed themselves in these parts, but Ikaru was drawn deeply as he sensed the throbbing amounts of spiritual pressure lingering in the air. His small beak-like mouth over flowed with saliva that dripped on the floor beneath, but he stepped over it with one muscled leg as his tail hovered behind him with its sharp tip flickering in the darkness. The scent of spilled hollow blood reached him and his beady eyes flickered in the direction of three hollow that had united against a single opponent and now feasted shamelessly upon its rotting soul. Bits of the defeated hollows mask flew as each set of teeth continued to feed adding more and more to the malevolent blood lust that began to drive the group of hollow into a frenzied madness as each clawed trying to draw out a little more blood than usual.
Even Ikaru who desire for more power usually made him hostile let out high pitched screech as the wave of feelings flowed through him and suddenly he released the full extent of his spiritual force all, but immobilizing his prey while drawing the focus of the other hollows in his direction; the hunger that was magnified by the hostile intentions floating in the air made it apparent how much the longed to feed on such an abundance of spiritual power.
“CRREEE!!” Ikaru screeched again, green flames of spiritual power flowing from his insect body as the air thickened with his reiatsu and suddenly even more hollows came out with watering mouths. Their eyes glowed with the hunger making it seemed as if the darkness was littered with suspended red and gold jewels floating in the air drawing closer to where Ikaru and his prey where. A sickening thud followed by an even more disturbing suction sound signaled the finish to Ikaru’s prey. His red eyes flashed brightly as he sucked ravenously away at the spiritual power that had once belonged to his opponent. Black blood trickled out from where the tail punctured the moist flesh. The encroaching hollow stopped their advance seeing this scene and for a moment silence save for the bitter moaning of pain that the slain hollow emitted before its chicken like head fell into the dirt; it became still for the last time. As if the death excited them the hollow turned upon each other and began feasting upon their fellow descended souls. Now hundreds of hollow scratched and clawed wildly at anything that had an inkling of spiritual power resonating within its structure.
Soon Ikaru’s space decreased to only a few inches around him as every claw was met with a strike from the already blood tainted tail and a few well placed snaps from his beak. Something was happening although none of the hollow knew or even comprehended it. Their consciousnesses were melding together and soon the desire for blood no longer belonged to anyone hollow; it lived one as a group desire. It forced all manner of hollow to savagely bite one then another and even more than that until blood lined the mouths of every hollow as roars of delight, sorrow, pain, guilty, suffering, elation sounded into the high roofed cavern. Life had been reduced to nothing more than satisfying the strange tick that had wedged itself into the barely discernible minds that the hollows once possessed until it slowly began to drive them mad. With threads of spiritual power erupting angrily with each strike Ikaru laid waste to many hollow around him, engorging himself fully in the art of hollow slaying, filling his beak with the blood of his fellow hollow until he could no longer think anything other than the singular thought of wanting more.

| One moment he was standing over a long limbed hollow filling his face with its entrails and then suddenly a strange sensation swept over him; it was surreal in nature and the hollow couldn’t understand it however it did understand that it was not the he was not alone in this new state. Trying to move his body he realized that he no longer had control of his body and then he tried to look down to see if perhaps something had ensnared his legs. It was then that he realized that he didn’t have eyes to see nor a body to call his own. Suddenly the images that he saw where in his mind and fuzzy at that as if they were from bad dreams rather than things that he was actually seeing. There was also a frightening feeling that little parts of himself were disappearing to meld with emotions that were not his own, to beings that had never been him. Memories began to root themselves in his consciousness and he could not recall ever living through them; his consciousness was drowning in the overwhelming primordial sea of evolution as the hollows continued to move towards the full transformation of a Gillian. A few, Ikaru, sensed had made peace with giving up their individuality for the sake of trying to become part of something greater, but fear gripped Ikaru or more correctly what was left of the hollow’s fragmented consciousness. For the first time he had complex thoughts that had nothing to do with feeding upon other souls instead he reminded himself that he had his own desires that he would never share with any other thing than himself.
When this realization came true Ikaru found that he was looking down from a very high place in the sky at a pair of pale booted feet that were almost covered by a long, draping cloak however he still felt that there was an incompleteness that demanded he submit his spirit to the evolution. For a brief moment he did and he could feel everything that he had ever been in his short life as a hollow begin to fade away into a murky nothingness that had no memories before its birth into the world as a Menos.
At the last moment when everything seemed to leave Ikaru, even his sense of what he had to accomplish faded away, one thing remained. The ecstasy that was only brought to him when he wanted to fight, when his own existence was pushed against the line as another existence tried to destroy it; it drew his mind away from the hunger of the other minds for his soul. As if this sensation were a guiding light, Ikaru’s mind which was now emptied of all other emotions overwhelmed the collective mass of consciousness that had nearly swallowed him hold pushing it away with sheer spiritual power. His dominion extended not only to himself, but to the consciousnesses that had once belonged to hundreds of other hollow and for the first time he opened his eyes to the new world reborn as a Gillian. His new eyes caught sight of several other Gillian that had been drawn to the sudden rise in spiritual energy in the area and now they looked on silently at the new Gillian for a few moments before bellowing mindlessly at it walking away. There was something different from him and the others, he thought as his new clammy, pale hand snatched one of the Gillian that had turned its back to him: he desired more power.
With a sickening crunch he filled his mouth with the flesh of what was considered the lords of the Menos forest as the massive beast neither retaliated nor attempted to flee; like a slain sheep it remained silent as the other Gillian watched on and then moved away monotonously. Finishing his feast he felt as new power filled him. Blood dripping from his fangs the newly born Ikaru moved slowly to through the forest, his fears leaving him as he became among the superior races of hollow, a Menos Grande.

| Many days had passed and the looming hunger that he had felt upon his evolving into a Menos only grew in intensity drawing his hunger to larger opponents until even the smallest hollow posed almost nothing of a threat to him and mirth filled him as he would pluck them daintily from their roosts howling in fear. Even this was not enough for him and soon the normal sized hollow which had satisfied him for the longest time now barely scratched the surface of his desire to feed, nearly consuming what little sanity he had left. One day as a flock of deer headed hollow scurried away from Ikaru’s massive Gillian form, he ran into the nest of group of Gillian that only mourned from day to day releasing random bursts of spiritual power either to scare any hollow away from it or to draw the curiosity of the more dim witted of their species to it. The deer hollow frantically scrambled looking for places to hide as the ominous steps of Ikaru trailed closely behind them. Finally it seemed that the deer had been cornered and Ikaru would feast joyously on their flesh in order to become even stronger than he was now, but at that exact moment the nest of Gillian moved as a single unit as if called by some unheard whistle. In the process of their getting up the massive hollow revealed several caves that connected in a network where they had been sitting. The quick thinking deer hollow wasted no time in bolting for the holes eventually altogether escaping the ailing Ikaru as his cries were heard projected through he large of expanse of the Menos forest.
Filled with the maddening desire to feed he went into a frenzy searching for various hollow in the most obscure places, knocking over various portions of the forest in his desire to eat, yet even with the passionate search to find hollow to devour the near mad Gillian found nothing. An unusual thought crept into its head as it heard a group of Gillian approaching its direction, most likely drawn by the subsequent release of spiritual energy as well as the bellowing that erupted from the pit of his stomach if he had one.
The moment the group of Menos reached him, Ikaru firmly took hold of the nearest one and to his surprise none of the other hollow budged nor recognized the fact that the Gillian was indeed in any danger. Dim witted and slow the endangered Menos simply remained still in its grasp as he drew its cloaked flesh to his mouth. The jagged rows of teeth, the smell of rotting meat encased the Gillian’s senses and Ikaru knew the smell must have been repugnant for he had spent many of his days hunting tirelessly for more hollow to devour. Sinking his teeth into it he heard the crunch and awaited a blow to the head or a shout of some sort to warn him away, yet none came. Now more focused upon devouring the flesh already wetting his gullet he savagely ripped his face away from the Menos taking with it a large fleshy chunk of its shoulder leaving the anatomy hanging in his mouth dripping with black blood as he chewed sweetly on it. Each crunch filled him with overwhelming additions of power and the Menos began to fade away as he continued to digest his meal feeling as the substantial increase in spiritual energy filled him; he had been barely scratching the surface when he had been biting into the low level hollow. Now he could feel for the first time the energy stored within these “cows” of the Menos world and if he could shift the alabaster mask to resemble a smile he would have as he approached the next Gillian with his jaws open.

| Many hollow classes drifted about the Menos forest, yet still high from his euphoric discovery that the Gillian class hollow felt nothing and there weren’t even consequences to devouring them. It was as if a fire had been lit in the hole that was existent within his heart; he completely ignored the lower class hollow and continued to consume only the Gillian feeling as his strength increased each time he sunk his flesh deep into an unsuspecting hollow. Soon it seemed as if he was no longer a simple lord of this forest, but that he was indeed its master for how could he not be when he devoured whomever he chose without any repercussions? Soon confidence filled him and he continued eating his way through various Gillian no longer paying heed to subtlety or discretion as to where or when he ate them. Blood seemed to be always be filling his mouth as he bit deeply into Gillian left and right never satiating his desire to feast upon their lives. Unknowingly however this new upstart Gillian with a vivacious appetite for Gillian class hollow had started an uprising without knowing it; slowly there were other beings that began to move in the shadows, showing up in increasing numbers viewing the heinous devouring of their legions. Until one day trudging haphazardly through the forest knocking down a large number of trees with this recklessness Ikaru was surrounded by strange looking hollow that were stronger in terms of spiritual power than most of the other low class hollow. Since they weren’t Gillian Ikaru merely scoffed at their sudden invasion as he passed by moving towards a nest of Gillian he had spotted no too long ago.
A searing pain sent a splash of bright yellow flashing through his mind and craned his neck to see where the attack had come from, but he hadn’t seen any Gillian in the area nor had he sensed them. Only the strange hollow stood there facing him menacingly as if there were poised to attack, but normal hollow in Ikaru’s understanding neither possessed the spiritual power nor the ability to produce Cero strong enough to wound a Menos. Still…he began to feel uneasy about the situation with the wound still sizzling where he had been struck.
Rather than taking a chance and heading into the nest with an injury he decided that he would feed upon these hollow that stubbornly remained out in the open when he was coming through, after all this was his domain, he was in control of this area so their impudence defied his concept of being an all powerful hollow which made him quickly turn hostile. Spiritual power filled the air around churning the staleness with the evil desire to devour spewing out of the Gillian’s body and he was certain that the hollow felt it as well, but they seemed unaffected by the spiritual pressure that he was exuding. This should have drawn his attention, yet it did not dawn upon him that he was about to clash against beings that surpassed his own ability; they were the fabled Adjuchas. Turning slowly as a red light began to charge in his mouth as he eyed the unfortunate beasts as they remained seemingly completely unaware of the devastation that was about to befall them. Soon he felt the heat flowing from the compressed ball of spiritual energy as he aimed directly at the group of hollow that stood motionless as the light filled the entire space for miles around and the energy swayed the trees ever so slightly. Even with these things taking place, all of these events bearing witness to the power he had amassed, the hollow still stared showing no inkling of respect for his power and for some reason it infuriated him.
Roaring as the red light shot from his mouth and accelerated towards the where the hollow stood a dull thud came before the massive explosion that shook the entire ground as smoke arose from the target area bringing great satisfaction to Ikaru as he began to turn away from the destroyed hollow with confidence coercing his soul. He did not perceive the shadow above him nor did he detect the Adjuchas as the descended silently through the air upon what was supposed to be the all powerful Gillian. Black blood sailed wildly through the air as booming bellow sent many of unsuspecting hollow scurrying from their hiding spots in fear; a battle had begun.

| The attack had been swift and merciless downing Ikaru despite his mass in one collective strike, for the Adjuchas had struck as one precise unit in bringing down the massive hollow without giving any chance for retaliation. For moment Ikaru rested upon the ground with blood seeping from his wound as the cool dirt of the forest pressed against his mask and some of it even filling his mouth. Hissing could be heard in the distance and at first he assumed that it was simply the ringing in his ears as he moved one bulking had to support his weight as he rose to his feet. Eventually righting himself, the hollow found that the hollow that he had blasted still remained wholly intact without so much as scratch upon them and even more disturbing was the fact that the hissing was coming from one of them. Without warning the area became alight with their mixed energies which burned around them with such brilliance that even Ikaur was forced to shy away a few steps despite being many times larger than them.
”What could this be?” he thought not comprehending that there could possibly be a greater power than his own even though the evidence was standing directly in front of him.
Defiantly the Gillian rose its own spiritual energy to rebut the impressive show of power that the hollow that stood before him had put on, but his moment was short lived as once again he was struck by a force that he could only identify as flashing lights as his feet were hoisted from the ground leaving him suspended in the air for an instant before he crashed painfully into the ground. His mask was cracked and for the first time since he had become a hollow fear enveloped him because like any other creature of Hueco Mundo , he understood the truth that if one’ s mask broke their existence was over regardless of how strong or determined they were to live. Hearing the footsteps of his attackers drawing nearer to him sent him in a panic and he flailed in a hurried attempt to rise back to his feet so that he could at least defend himself, yet his body would not respond to his efforts as the spiritual force of the Adjuchas began to press him into the ground threatening to incinerate him where he lie. Since his days as a hollow, he had never experienced such power,
“Lowly Gillian…we have been watching you devour brothers. Your appetite is commendable, however” came a fierce voice that was interrupted by a snarl every few seconds.
Ikaru could not move to see where the voices were coming from nor could he properly view the image of the Adjuchas, but he could hear and feel as they desired kill him where he laid one of them even going as far as putting their hoofed limb on his mask. For a second there was pressure and for a moment his greatest fear he was certain that hi greatest fear was about to be realized sending him desperate as well as unfulfilled into oblivion, but shortly after the pressure was gone along with the hoof that had been causing it. The voice that had been talking to him before continued to speaking in a deep, threatening tone until finally it grew quiet though Ikaru dared not to move his body until he was certain that he could no longer feel the spiritual energy of the four monsters that had overwhelmed him with ease. It occurred to him that unless he continued to feed and grow, he would remain under the clutches of the monsters that had attacked him as well as monsters that were even stronger than that.
Letting out a frightening guttural noise the Gillian allowed his misgivings to flow out of his mouth into the sky above him, the same sky that was made of rock and sealed him within the confines and not where the arrancar resided for it was forbidden often times that lower class hollow lay eyes upon Los Noches; it was suited only for those with power. Quietly dragging his feet thought the soil, Ikaru vowed he would indeed one day set eyes upon Los Noches even if he had to devour all the hollow in Hueco Mundo just achieve this goal.
