ShinigamiName: Hibiki
Age: Actual Age- 13, Age of Appearance- 13
Height: 4 feet, exactly
Weight: 95 lbs
Gender: Male
Personality: Despite his age, Hibiki is a hardened individual. He views the world as his own. He feels driven to accomplish his goals, and will stop at nothing to do so. Although he has the demeanor and self pride of one who's been through Hell in his short life, he's still a kid, and is prone to childlike behavior. He doesn't talk much, unless hyper or he is among friends, yet he somehow tends to be charismatic, and seems to have a persuasive tongue. He absolutely
loves anything sweet. His size doesn't bother him, and tends to be more of an advantage. His favorite pastimes include eating sweets, pulling pranks, and trying to sneak a peek into women's baths and what-not, typical young teen actions.
Appearance:
- Spoiler:
Hibiki has a thin, deceptive frame. His build is unremarkable, though his muscles are extremely toned on an internal and physical level. His right eye is covered by a leather eye patch, though not because he lost it. Ever since he was born, he had had heterochromia, or, in layman's terms, two different colored eyes, though his were even more different. His left eye is a purple/indigo color
- Spoiler:
and his right eye is a glowing shade of silver
- Spoiler:
The reason he keeps his right eye covered is because he doesn't see what's in the world around him with it. The landscape he sees through that eye is foreign. It's a craggy landscape, with black, jagged spires of volcanic rock against an indigo sky with blackened clouds. A strange, electric blue fog swirls around the spires, just above the ground. Every time Hibiki removes his eye patch, he can see this strange place, in full detail, if he closes his left eye. He isn't always sure, but he believes he can see a figure far off in the distance, a tiny spec. He doesn't know this, but his silver eye is constantly looking into his mindscape, the lair of his Zanpakutou spirit.
Sealed Zanpakutō :
- Spoiler:
The blade is of normal design. It is approximately 30 inches in length (2 1/2 feet) from the guard up, and the handle is approximately 6 1/2 inches. It is a full tang blade, meaning the blade goes all the way down, including inside the handle. (Hibiki will not start off with his blade. I'll make a post where he obtains it, though.)

History/Background:
Hibiki's history is a relatively short one. He remembers nothing but the world that was the outer districts of Rukongai. He had died only 5 minutes after being born in the human world, and his infant soul was raised by several people, handed down, almost, until he was old enough to walk and talk. Often, he would cry, and no one would know what to do with him. At the age of 5, they began to find out. Hibiki, who normally kept his eyes virtually closed, began to open them all the way. When others saw his odd colored eyes, they usually shied away from him, as if he were some kind of bad omen.
At this age, others saw he was slightly off-balance. Being an intelligent kid, he began tying a piece of cloth over his right eye, fixing his problem. At the age of 10, he made friends with several kids his own age. They had been prowling around the alleys and Hibiki had followed them in secret. He soon found out they were scoping out the stalls for food that looked edible. At one point, they split up. One group, consisting of a boy and a girl, went out into the small market area, while the three others circled around to another stall, with the same formation. The boy in the group closest to him, that had the girl as his partner walked through the stalls, patiently, putting on a facade of genuine interest. The girl had walked up to a stall where a man was selling watermelon.
The man had a bowed back and greyed hair, though he looked fit and strong. The girl gently tugged on the hem of his torn clothes. He looked down, raising a cane as he shouted at her.
"Damn kids, I've seen you 'round here before, stealin' food! Like you nobodies need it!" cried the man, a high whine in his crackling voice. He lifted the cane higher, with the intention of swinging, and Hibiki reacted on instinct.
He leapt from the roof he had been spying from and came down with his left foot forward, planting his heel square into the man's face. He used the farmer as a stepping stone and jumped from his face as he rocked back to the ground by the stall. He then proceeded to take up the largest watermelons he could find under his arms, wrangling up three of them before his small arms were full.
He then nodded to the boy and girl, trying to signal for them to grab an armful before the man woke up once more, since he wasn't well acquainted with speech. Both of them had been slightly stunned by the way things had played out, but shook off their surprise and rushed forward, gathering as much as they could carry. They then took off, and Hibiki followed, knowing not where they were going.
After running for what seemed like miles, they eventually ducked into a dilapidated building and placed their melons in a basket. There was a clear piece of string that was virtually invisible unless the light hit it, and it was tied to the handle of this basket. There was also a section of wall missing on the right hand side. The boy and girl disappeared into this missing section, and Hibiki heard scrounging. Slowly, he poked his head inside and saw the two scaling the wall. He was shocked, thinking there was nothing they could be grabbing onto, until he saw small boards nailed to the opposite inside wall that they were using to scale to the second floor, seeing as there were no stairs.
Hibiki quickly ascended after them, and found himself in a spacious room, with makeshift beds and pillows scattered about the room. Jars of preserved fruits and dried meats lined the far wall. Hibiki's stomach did something it had never done before, something that most people's stomach's in Rukongai normally didn't do; it growled. The boy and the girl laughed at this, and went to haul up the melons.
After they had them pulled up, they put one aside and rolled the others to the center of the room. They then sat around a large curved plate with sticks and logs in the center. the boy fumbled around underneath it for a moment and produced two pieces of rock; flint. He hastily lit a fire in the room that Hibiki soon realized was rather chilly. He moved closer to it and sat down on the opposite side of the two.
There was a few minutes of silence following this and then the girl stood up and came and sat by Hibiki. She avoided his gaze, staring int the fire with hard eyes.
"Thank you... For helping us, I mean... You didn't have to risk getting caught..." she said. It sounded slightly forceful, but he could see genuine gratefulness in her eyes.
He grinned and nodded slightly. The girl looked at him now, having not seen the nod.
"Well, aren't you going to say something back?" she asked, incredulous. Hibiki, still grinning, could comprehend what was being said, but couldn't speak, so he pointed to his throat and shook his head.
The girl was obviously not getting what he was trying to say. the boy came around and was standing beside the girl, and he translated what Hibiki was trying to say.
"He can't speak." he said bluntly.
Hibiki nodded, and the girl giggled.
"Well, then I'll have to teach him so he can tell me I'm welcome and how pretty I am." The girl said matter-of-factually. The three of them laughed at this, and from that day forward, they were inseparable in their group.
Hibiki had learned to speak, though he still didn't talk much, unless he was speaking to Aqua, which was the girl, or Ferrum, the boy. Their other three friends had died in the three years since they had met, though. In those three years, Aqua, Hibiki, and Ferrum had decided they'd dedicate themselves to becoming Shinigami, the nobles of which they'd seen pass through Rukongai only once before. The three of them had learned that they had Spiritual Pressure, though minute at this age. They honed their skills, however, as best they could. Ferrum was the best at manipulating his Spiritual Pressure, and had even succeeded in creating an aura of it around himself once, and could do it now as easy as if he walking. Eventually, Aqua caught up to his level. The two soon were off, on their way to becoming Shinigami. Hibiki, however, had trouble building up his Spiritual Pressure. It wasn't that it wasn't present, he just had trouble controlling it.
However, after much training, managed to achieve the same level of mastery as Aqua and Ferrum had beforehand. He was giddy with excitement, and immediately ran off to the Primary Academy, where you were tested to see if you were capable of enrolling into the Shinigami Academy. Hibiki managed to ace all his tests, and soon found himself standing in the gateway of the Shinigami Academy. It is here that his story begins.

"Alright everyone, today is all about speed and reaction time, as well as what that reaction is. So, pick up your Bokken and find a person of equal height, if you can." The instructors voice was commanding, but gentle. Hibiki couldn't help but smile as he looked around for a partner, only to find that all of them had been taken up. All except Manmosu, the 7' 6" giant. Hibiki gulped, but held his ground as he paired up with the hulking beast. The instructor eyed the matching curiously, being as Hibiki was the smallest in the class. He had not intentionally let this happen, but he'd roll with it.
The two opponents faced off, and then Manmosu let out a battle cry as he swung his Bokken in a slow, slanted sweep, though it was backed by an immense amount of power. However, since the giant was trying to aim so low to hit such a small target, Hibiki merely stepped further into his reach, aiming a well placed jab directly at the solarplex. He felt the air rush from Manmosu's lungs as his wooden blade forced it out. Hibiki pressed in harder, then brought his makeshift blade out and jumped simultaneously. He swung the blade square down the center of his body, as he reached a height where he was face to face with the lumbering giant. The handle Bokken smacked hard into his forehead, directly between the brows.
With the air out of his lungs and lack of oxygen to his brain, coupled with the quick, sharp strike to this sensitive area, Manmosu was down for the count. The mammoth's eyes crossed as he fell backwards and hit the ground with a crash. Hibiki had extended his legs to where his feet touched his chest and rode the Goliath of a man back to the ground, where he quickly jumped of his chest. He grinned and made the motion of sheathing a blade, sliding it between the cloth belt he was wearing and his robes. He then bowed respectfully to the felled giant and turned to the teacher, saying his first words he had the entire week.
"What next?"
