| Something Crazy - Part 5
Tatsuya had been practicing on the sparring grounds for over two hours now. He had moved on from using just sword techniques to hand-to-hand techniques. This proved to be a bit of a problem at the beginning because of the complete differences in movements from one technique to another. In fact, he had been trying to incorporate hand-to-hand techniques for the past nights. The problem was because his arms and hands were now moving for other reasons than to catch his sword. When he first started, his hands and arms would get hit by his sword, or he would simply miss it because of miscalculations. As the nights progressed though, his ability to catch the sword increased exponentially. Now he never missed, though he had to see it.
Tatsuya finished his current set of movements before taking a quick break. He walked over to a nearby tree where he kept some water. He picked up the water and leaned against the tree before taking a drink. He looked up at the clouded sky and wondered if it was going to rain. Tonight was rather windy as the clouds rolled in, but not the slightest bit of water fell from the sky. As Tatsuya gathered his breath, he walked back out into the field. Just as he prepared to start again, the sky lit up and roared with thunder. Tatsuya simply smiled, he always found thunderstorms calming, even when he was caught in them.
Tatsuya took his stance with his sword in his right hand and proceeded to throw it up in front of him spinning it clockwise. Just as he let go of the sword he brought his right hand horizontally across with a back fist and then followed up with a left hook. Continuing his motions, he threw a right hook and continued turning to his left into what seemed like a left hand back fist. As he continued turning, his sword found its way into a reverse grip in his left hand. He brought the sword back, horizontally to his left before throwing it up in a clockwise spin. He then threw a left cross and followed up with a right hook to a back fist.
After throwing his right hand back fist, he caught his sword with the same hand and swung it downward to his right at a 60 degree angle. As the sword came to his right side he continued swinging his arm around his back before he released it spinning it counter clockwise. Tatsuya caught the sword with his left hand and immediately swung it horizontally to his right and continued to another back fist. Just as his back fist passed he swung his sword straight upward with his left hand and released it into the air. Tatsuya then jumped while turning to his right and grabbing it with his right hand. He came down with a vertical strike.
As Tatsuya hit the ground, he jumped forward into a front flip and switched his sword to a reverse grip, turning his flip into an attack as he turned. Before landing Tatsuya threw his sword in the air. When Tatsuya landed he threw two jab punches to a left hook and then a right uppercut. When his uppercut finished his right hand continued up to catch the sword. After catching his sword he swung it down to his left and then back up to his right. He released the sword into the air and jumped so his body was spinning parallel to the ground with his arms extended so they acted as wide punches. In the act of spinning, Tatsuya grabbed his sword before landing and coming to a stop.
Tatsuya took a minute to breathe before continuing to a different set of moves. During that moment he looked into the air at the vibrant light show that nature was creating. Lightning pounded the earth and lit up the sky with a loud roar following behind it. It truly was a sight to behold. The sound of a nearby lightning strike snapped Tatsuya back to reality. His moves seemed just as wild as the storm above and he knew it. This night was most definitely “Something Crazy.”
