Bringing back a patient (Kaz & Ryouta please)

Kaiyo sighed. She didn't feel safe around the 12th squad, it wasn't anything to do with Ryouta personally, but in general, inter-squad relations between 12th and 11th weren't good. This was mainly because it had been decided a long im ago that the 11th squad made great test subjects, Kaiyo had been trying to change this, with little actual success. Though the Captain was there today regarding other business. Slung over her right shoulder was a superhuman, who went by the name of Kaz. Kaiyo hadn't wanted to bring him here, and had it not been for the fact that the order had come through at such a bad time, she wouldn't have bothered.

The girl lifted her head upwards, her eyes taking in the sight that was the main 12th squad barracks. The Captain sighed, and entered the main building. For some reason, a stupid attacking device thing had already tried to blow her into tiny pieces, Kaiyo figured it had been her un-announced appearance. Though by now, Ryuota would probably be expecting her. The short blonde girl wandered along the hallway, clearly not happy carrying her new friend over her shoulder. Though the sight of the short blonde girl carrying a human with such ease was vaguely chucklesome.
Kaiyo rounded the corner and knocked loudly on the door to Ryouta's office. He'd probably been altered by the central 46 by now anyway, and Kaiyo was just waiting to find out what kind of crazy scary tests he was planning on running.

"Let them in," Ryouta's voice sounded muffled through the door.

"Of course," responded a female computerized voice. The door swung open to reveal Kaiyo and her baggage.

Ryouta's face brightened. "Ah, Kaiyo-taicho! What a pleasant surprise! What can I do for you?" As he greeted her, his eyes of course focused on the most prominent aspect of her appearance- the body she had slung over her shoulder. His eyes gleamed with undisguised zealous curiosity. Ryouta stood up and approached quickly.

"What is it you've brought me? Not a Shinigami, else you'd be visiting the 4th..." Ryouta reached up and lowered his goggles. "Not an Arrancar- a human...how interesting. Now I am even more curious as to what your purpose is here..." He stiffened, as if realizing something of terrible significance. "Oh dear, I'm being an awful host. Please prepare some tea."

At his words, a panel in the wall slid open to reveal two teacups, both of which were full of steaming hot green tea and a small plate of dango. Ryouta reached over and helped himself to a cup and a stick of dango. He then turned to Kaiyo and gave her a politely curious expression, though inwardly he was dying of curiosity.

Everything was dark, save for a small circle of dim light in which he found himself. The light didn't seem to have any source, it was just there. He was laying on his back, staring up into complete darkness. 'W-where am i?' He said, his voice barely above a whisper. His body felt heavy, and it took great effort just to move a finger. Slowly he he worked his way to sitting up, his body feeling somewhat numb. 'Just where the hell am I?' he said, surveying his surroundings. Although he could not see past the circle, he could sense something out there. 'h-help me....' said a small voice behind him. He spun around to see a small boy, of maybe six years old, standing just inside the circle. The boy was covered in blood, and was slowly shuffling towards the Him. As the boy stepped more into the light, He saw something that scared him, the boy was dragging the body of a woman, atleast what was left of her. 'W-What t-the Hell?!" he said, taking a few steps back. 'w-why didn't you save my m-mommy, m-mister?' the boy said, his voice sending chills down His spine. 'Yes,son, Why didn't you help us, either?' Said two voices behind him, in unison.

He froze in place at the sound of the two new voices. His skinned went ghostly pale, as his body began to tremble. No.. he thought, slowly turning his head to look over his shoulder. 'n-No..i-it c-can't b-be..' he said, as he identified the owners of the new voices. He backed away from them slowly, completely forgeting about the boy. The sight of the two newcomers sending a primal fear through him. The fisrt owner was a man in a military fatigues, his throat was slit wide open, his head hanging to one side. Blood poured out of the neck wound, and dozens of stab wounds across his body. But his eyes were locked on the second owner, a young japanese woman, with blue-ish black hair. Her body was slice, stabbed, and cut open almost everywhere, save for her face, which didn't have a scratch on it. 'M-mother....F-father...' he said looking at them, his eyes wide with fear, panic gripping his heart. Suddenly more people began to appear in the light, surrounding him, all asking him the same question.'Why didn't you save me?'

'N-no....this...this can't be happening....' he said as they all closed in on him. They stopped short of overwhelming him. All was silent, save for the sound of Kaz's heartbeat flooding his ears. Where his mother and father stood, the crowd parted, revealing a pair of glowing red eyes in the darkness. A sound eminated from the direction of the eyes, a sound not unlike a hollows cry. He was frozen in place, He thought his heart had stopped altogether. 'Because he is a coward. Because He is weak.' said the glowing eyes, 'To weak to protect anyone. To weak to save anyone.' He knew deep in his soul, that whoever own this voice, was smiling. 'Weaklings deserve to DIE' the voice said, after a short pause. It happened so fast that He didn't even register what had happened. He felt an impact in his chest, felt a warm liquid running down his chest. He look down to see a long black blade impaling him. Then He saw nothing but darkness.


Kaz began to stir on Kaiyo's shoulder. Starting with what seemed to be muscle spasms, and mumbling, quickly becomeing violent thrashing and shouting.
"n-no...NO....NOOO!!!" Kaz shouted as he came too. He didn't know where he was or who was holding him, nor did he care, he needed to get down. He swung his body forewards, shifting his weight and dropped to the ground, headfirst. He rolled, got to his feet, and spun around with his arms up ready to defend himself, only to be shooked again. "K-Kaiyo?!??"

Kaiyo smiled weakly back at Ryouta, she actually quite liked the guy, she just hated his squad... The short girl opened her mouth to respond, just as Kaz made a noise. Kaiyo's already quite sombre expression dropped further. The girl just turned her head to the right, still holding onto the guy as he began to stir. Kayo whipped her head back a Kaz swiped at her, his dream didn't seem too healthy actually. Kaiyo was strong enough to just hold onto the guy, but she didn't want to, it just seemed even worse of her to do so. Instead, she just stood still, not showing any affect on her face as Kaz's hand slapped the side of her cheek. It barely hurt, and kaiyo's resistance to pain was fairly high. The girl could feel it though, the weight, dropping further and further down her stomach, the guilt for even bringing him here at all. It was a mistake, but one she couldn't rectify. Kaiyo released her grasp as Kaz finally woke up, and threw himself onto the ground. The girl flinched to help him up, instead just taking a small step backwards.

Kaiyo didn't take an aggressive stance, she just looked at Kaz, apologetically for a moment before she spoke. 'I'm sorry...I got an order to bring you in for monitoring and stuff...You're safe, i just had to make sure you'd come without a struggle.' the girl glanced back to Ryouta. Responding finally to his ramblings and looks. 'He's a superhuman...And you have to run some tests on him'. Kaiyo spoke carefully, her gaze piercing Ryouta's as her tone was serious, and commanding even. Kaiyo figured Ryouta would get the hint, he wasn't to hurt this guy, not at all, or she'd be the first one to stop him. his whole situation made Kaiyo feel sick, but she was too torn to make any decision at the moment.

Ryouta chewed and swallowed a bite of dango pensively, watching Kaiyo's face intently as she spoke. She seemed...tense, though probably not because of the body slung over her shoulder. At least not directly. Was she uncomfortable around him? Possibly, though Ryouta thought this unlikely given the length of time they had known each other. Was she protective of this Superhuman? Perhaps romantically so? This seemed unlikely too, but who was Ryouta to question motive? This would be an excellent chance to learn new things.

"What kind of tests, exactly?" Ryouta asked. "He is a human, so there's no need to do any kind of blood test, vivisection or anything like that unless you've seen a reason otherwise. What are his powers?"

Kaz slowly relaxed his guard. He watched Kaiyo as she spoke, his heart sinking as he saw the hand mark on her face. He looked down at his now mostly healed hand, which still stung from the slap. "Kaiyo, first I want to say that I am sorry about hitting you. I had a weird dream, and I guess I was just reacting." He said, looking back up at her, a guilty expression on his face. "Secondly, I'm not sure how got...umm...here. Or, where 'here' is for that matter." he said looking her in the eye for a moment too long, then quickly looking down at the ground. "I..ah..I mean were friends and all, s-so next time just ask." He said quickly, his face reddening slightly, as he rubbed his neck nervously.

Kaz look over at the man, his eyes sizing up the stranger."I...uhh..I am sorry if I have cause any problems, sir." he said, giving the man a quick, bow. "My name is Kazuhiko Tatsuma, and well...my powers?" He asked, glancing in Kaiyo's direction, looking to see if it was okay.

Kaiyo shrugged at Ryouta, 'I just got told to bring him here to you, so you can run tests, thats all'. The girl glanced back to Kaz, still feeling the plummeting guilt dropping at the pit of her stomach. The blonde girl smiled weakly, 'It's fine...And you're in Soul Society, the 12th squad barracks to be exact'. Next time, it was almost laughable. Kaz was taking this pretty well though, in fact, he was taking it hell of a lot better than she'd expected. Though,he seemed a bit out of it at current to really understand the situation fully maybe.

Kaiyo shuffled a little closer, nodding slightly to Kaz. Ryouta would find out his powers anyway. 'It's fine, you can tell him' she re-assured him. The girl ruffled the back of her hair gently, not making it look much neater at all, but Kaiyo never really looked 'neat'. That whole demeanour never really suited her. Kaiyo rummaged around in her pocket for a second, tossing Ryouta the message she'd been sent. Not really looking at him as she did so. Kaiyo was seldom told specifics, in fact most Captains weren't. People just assumed Captains could fill in the gaps.

"Nice to meet you Kazuhiko," Ryouta responded. "As Kaiyo said, you are in the 12th Squad Barracks, and I am the Captain. We are the research and development squad of Soul Society, responsible for every technological innovation since...well...a long time ago."

Ryouta paused to munch on some dango before continuing; it was his favorite candy after all. "Anyway, as Kaiyo said, it is all right for you to tell me what your powers are. I assume that they are special in some way, which is why they brought me into this mix."

I can only assume that they either see him as a potential ally or a potential threat...Ryouta thought. Either way- I should develop some kind of nullifier to be used against him should he ever turn on Soul Society.

Kazu listened to the Kaiyo, then to the other captain speak. But waited for a few seconds to respond. Something about the other captain made put him on edge. But he pushed his slight paranoia to the side for the time being. He raised his hand infront of his body and clenched his fist. "Okay then...well here is my power." he said, but after a few seconds nothing happened. A puzzled look came over his face, and he open and closed his fist a few more times. "Huh...out of energy it seems. Oh well, I'll just have to absorb more." he said grinning. He closed his eyes, and focused on absorbing the energy in the room. Very suddenly, a blue aura burst forth from kaz, and swirling around him, Kicking up a strong wind. Kazu's eyes shot open, a look of pure amazement in his eyes. He was absorbing energy at a tremendous rate, even some of the furniture was breaking down to it pure energy form. "Woah...so much ambient energy..." he said his eyes taking a dark blue glow, "its like everything here...Oh CRAP!" Kazu said as he noticed the chair near him was starting to dissolve. Shutting his eyes quickly, a look a agonizing pain on his face as he forced his aborbtion power off, and redirected the energy he had gathered. On his arms (from the elbow to the tips of his fingers) and legs (from just above the knee down) dark blue energy feilds formed like a second skin, taking the shape of armor. "Sorry about that." he said opening his eyes again, "Had to force my powers off again. Anyways this is my 'Jimmu.' It is the only technique i have mastered so far." he said, holding his arms up for the Captain to see.

Interesting, thought Ryouta. He has powers much like a Quincy, but they manifest differently. Perhaps his DNA will yield an answer as to how this works.

Outwardly, he smiled warmly and said, "That's quite impressive; I'm going to have to do some shopping now, haha. Don't worry about it, that was truly amazing." He tapped his chin thoughtfully, though this was of course an act. Ryouta already knew what he wanted to do. "I think that I will start with basic preliminary tests- a blood sample; and a mouth swab, I think."

"Affirmative," said a computerized female voice from nowhere. There was the sound of a muted mechanical whirring, and then a different panel in the office opened to reveal a Q-tip, a syringe, a small bottle, and some gauze. Ryouta retrieved them all and handed the Q-tip to Kaz.

"If you wouldn't mind, please swab the inside of your mouth," Ryouta said. "Then I will use these-" he held up the bottle and gauze. "A mild anesthetic to take a blood sample." Ryouta poured a small amount of the bottle's liquid onto the gauze, and then reached out to take Kaz's arm and apply the anesthetic to an area just past the inside of Kaz's elbow.

Kaz smiled at the captain, and deactivated the 'Jimmu' with a thought. He took his right glove off his hand, revealing the numerous and deep scars on his hands and forearms. One of which ran on top of the main vein in the arm."Good like getting the vein, the Docs back at Okinawa had a hell of a time." He said with an amused smirk on his face. He swabbed the inside of his mouth, as instructed, handing the swab back to the Captain. "What other tests are you going to do? And how many more needles?" He asked the captain, his voice had a hint of loathing on the last question.

Kaiyo glanced around the room for a moment, deciding she'd just be safer off standing the girl leant back against the wall. Folding her arms as she watched Ryouta and Kazu. If anything, it was just a bit amusing. The short Captain didn't feel comfortable, the camera's Ryouta had everywhere made her feel constantly on edge, plus his squad in general were just plain creepy. Kaiyo rubbed the back of her neck, it ached. 'Erm...I think you need to put a tracker on him' she added, making direct eye contact with Ryouta. Of course by 'on' Kaiyo was thinking more along the lines of under the skin. The girl tilted her head back against the wall for a moment, her eyes lighting up as she jerked forwards. 'Can you get him an upgrade Ryouta?' she asked, wide-eyed. Kaiyo knew Ryouta was smart, so she figured him making Kazu something cool to fight with or channel his power could only be a bonus.

"At the moment? One more." Ryouta approached his desk and activated a console in the desk. He typed into it briefly, and a panel in the ceiling descended down toward him. There was a single syringe half-filled with clear liquid on it. This clear liquid was no ordinary liquid- it was filled with nanobots that could be used to track the target as well as gather data on it. These nanobots had more than observational purposes, however. They could also be given the order to attack the target's cells from the inside out.

"You'll feel another pinch," he said. As he prepared to inject the nanobots, he said, "I don't think a tracking device is necessary, Kaiyo. Kaz seems very much the trustworthy individual." After all, he did not wish to scare Kaz away from him. It was so much easier when subjects were cooperative. "But I think I *do* think I should be able to devise some kind of upgrade...perhaps something that would allow you to channel your powers more efficiently? It would be no substitute for training, but, every little bit helps."

"A tracker? wait WHAT?! Kayo you really mean that?" He said, the thought that she thought he needed a tracker hurt him alittle. He had placed trust in her, and now she wanted him to be tracked like an animal, and his mind reeled from the idea. When the captain mentioned something to help his powers his attention shot back to him. "I don't mean to be rude, but I can control my powers, for the most part. I mean yeah, sure, the backlash from them hurts sometimes, but I want to figure out my own way of controlling that. But, maybe a pair of gloves that wouldn't do this" He said holding his hands up, showing the burnt away palms of his gloves to the scientist captain, "Those would be great. And if your determined to help me, then fine go ahead, heck you could even put a tracker in them for all I care." He said giving Kaiyo a playful smile. He knew she didn't mean any harm in her statement, at least thats what he thought. "Kaiyo, when have you seen me take my gloves off?"

"Oh now that sounds like a fun project," said Ryouta, examining the gloves closely. "Now is it heat, i.e. fire that burns away the palms, friction of reishi particles, or a combination of the two?" He paused, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "Actually, it doesn't even matter, I'll synthesize a material that should be able to withstand a fair amount of both. Unless it's something besides those two most probable causes that are the cause of the palms wearing away?"

Ryouta returned to his console and keyed in a command. A panel in the wall opened, there was a whirring noise, and a tin of some blue agar came into view. "Please put your hands into that agar over there so I can get a good solid mold of your hands," he instructed Kaz. Another long pause as he closed his eyes to think. "I would also like to do some basic experiments with your powers- for example, how much energy you can absorb, how you control it, etc. That won't be a problem, I trust?"

Kazu had a dumbfounded look on his face when the scientist went into the tangent of jargon. He knew it wasn't fire, although its looked like it, it wasn't. "Ummm, what do you mean by reishi particles? and it only happens if release my other technique." Kazu said still sounding quite confused. "I guess the best way to explain it would be to show you, but not in here. I don't want to blow a hole in your wall....or worse...." Kazu listined as the scientist continued and complied with him, Putting his hands in the agar for the mold. "Fingerless if you can, regular gloves interfere somewhat." he said without realizing it.

Kazu was actualy eager to get a more scientific view on his power, maybe it would help him figure out more techniques, and control. "I'll show you everything I can do, just as long as you got a bigger area for me, and maybe a sparing partner? I promise i won't hurt them. Or just someone to fight, I think that would be the best way to show you. Not that I like fighting or anything, its just I don't concentrate on controling my powers in a fight, and well I would think that would be the best way to observe my powers. I know it sounds weird, but its really hard for me to explain." He said, scratching his head as he spoke. His powers were one of the hardest things for him to understand, to him they were like a sleeping dragon, only waking during a fight, or when danger was close.

Kaiyo smirked slightly at Kaz's reaction, she'd figured the injection Ryouta had found would be some kind of weird tracker ting anyway, and he probably would have done it anyway. Though it was a lot funnier to see kaz's reaction. The girl shrugged slightly 'It's in case i need to save your ass anytime.' she smirked. He girl only shot Kaz a quick look at his gloves question. Kaiyo grimaced slightly at the weird Agar thing, it didn't seem so appealing, but Ryoute knew what he was doing.

Kaiyo giggled lightly, 'As if anyone doesn't like fighting' she scoffed, the idea alone was a bit silly. Though his explanation was a bit off, superhumans weren't exactly known for their great understanding, having a power and being alone if having that single power, will it probably was a bit more difficult to master something you can't be taught. Kaiyo pushed off the wall and moved closer to the Agar thing, leaning over for a second as she moved her finger closer and prodded it slightly. It was icky.

"Fingerless? I'll keep that in mind. Remind me if I forget, computer," Ryouta said. Already his mind was coming up with interesting ways to use Kaz's power. Gloves that were capable of taking its raw power were interesting; but what if the power could be harnessed to power weaponry that could be used as surprises, or trump cards? Ryouta's imagination filled with images of reiatsu powered explosives and beam weapons for a brief moment. He shook his head slightly to clear it of these ideas; those would come in time, if applicable.

"Hmm...large room, capable of taking punishment...and I certainly don't want the rest of Soul Society finding out you're here. I don't want rumors of a superhuman being allowed in spreading around the squads. Kaito has enough to deal with..." Ryouta scratched his head. "Computer?"

"Yes?"

"Has Experimental Power-testing Chamber 1 been repaired yet?"

"Affirmative."

"Excellent," said Ryouta. "If you'll follow me?" He gestured to Kaz and Kaiyo to follow him. Ryouta led them outside his office and through the barracks into a small lobby like area- empty except for a single elevator. He approached the elevator doors, but instead of pressing the button for 'down', he instead moved his hand to the side of the button, seemingly putting his hand through solid metal. Ryouta hummed to himself slightly as he keyed in the necessary passcode on the hidden keypad, and then smiled a little as a paper-thin panel on the opposite wall opened to reveal a second elevator. "Holographics," he explained to his guests. "Can't ever be too careful. We're working on some pretty dangerous things here."

He gestured for them to follow into the elevator, where Ryouta's hand slid down columns of buttons before pressing the button marked '1'. "Please provide security clearance for Experimental Power-testing Chamber 1," said the computerized voice.

Ryouta leaned forward to have his retinas scanned, his handprint taken, a secondary key code, and finally, a voice test. "Captain Ayame Ryouta...and guests," he amended as two powerful looking guns emerged from the ceiling to point at Kaz and Kaiyo. "Sorry about that...security. You understand. Very few people have access to Chamber 1. Just myself and my Vice-Captain. Not even Kaito."

When the doors opened, they found themselves standing in a room the size of a soccer field, completely stainless steel (apparently) and looking very austere and sterile. "This is Experimental Power-testing Chamber 1," said Ryouta. "We, that is to say, I, use this room to test our most powerful innovations. Last week I used it to test a new kind of sentry gun. Unfortunately, I made a small error in my calculations and caused some considerable damage to this room, which is quite hard to do...but there it is, and that's why we're here."

He turned to Kaz. "I know this must be overwhelming, but I think that it is not a good idea for anyone beyond the people who already know of your presence to know you're here. So...what do you say you use your powers on Kaiyo while I observe?"

Kazu tilted his head at Kaiyo's comment. “I can take care of myself.” he said, his tone very defensive.”I just don't like hurting people. And, I have rules that I live by. Whats wrong with that?” he said, more like a statement then a question, as he removed his hands from the agar, which left his hands feeling odd. He grinned when Kaiyo touched the agar, and the look of disgusted look that appeared on her face.

He listened to the scientist speak, not wanting to interrupt his train of thought. And follow him with nothing more than a nod. When he stuck his hand through the wall Kazu's eyes went wide, “Holographics?” he said trying to think of where he hear that word before. He wondered why if soul society had this level of technology then why didn't they share it with the rest of the world. He could only shrug at the thought, and continued to follow the scientist.

When the doors opened and Kazu saw the training area, he let out a whistle, and walked out and around the area slowly. “I wish I had something like this back in Karakura Town.” He said. He had his training area in the forest outside of town, but he felt a little bad for destroying the land there. He was lost in his own thoughts when the scientist mentioned him fighting Kaiyo, and nodded before he realized that he would be fighting her. He stopped in walking, a thoughtful look on his face which quickly turned to a look of horror. “W-what? Fight Kaiyo?!? I c-can't do that! That's no right! First off, she's a girl, and secondly I don't want to hurt her, cause shes my freind!”

Kaiyo followed Ryouta into the elevator, her hand reaching instantly to the hilt of her blade as the guns dropped down from the ceiling towards her. The girl smiled weakly as Ryouta added the guest part, whether she just had good reactions or was awfully jumpy, Kaiyo did lower her head slightly almost as if she were embarrassed for such reactions. The girl stepped out of the metal box and into the large room, half tempted to start shouting just to see if it had a decent echo. The girl was nodding slightly as Ryouta spoke, stepping away from the other two as she spun around to get a better look at the room.

The girl twisted back around at the mention of her name, moving her hands up as she waved her hands frantically. Opening her mouth to deny the offer, when Kazu spoke. he girl's shocked expression slowly dropped as she moved her hands back down to her side. Mild annoyance mixed with an evil smirk, the girl eyed Kazu up and down for a moment. Kaiyo allowed a few seconds of stunned silence before she moved. Flash stepping to right behind Kazu as she pushed her right foot forwards, kicking him square in the ridge of his back as she spoke. 'Yeah lets see if you can land a hit on this girl' she snarled. Not that she had a short temper or anything.

He had the distinct feeling he had just stepped on a land mine, figuratively. The tension in the air was so thick and heavy it could be cut with a knife. He glanced over to where Kaiyo was standing, just to watch her vanish before his eyes. His eyes went wide with shock, and his face paled. He had caught a glimpse of the smirk on her face before she vanished, and he knew it wasn't a good thing. The kick to his back sent him flying face first into the wall, and yet all he could think was the energy he felt when she made contact. Not only was she faster than he could even track, but her power was unlike anything he had fought up to now. He knew if he didn't go all out, she might kill him. He hit the wall with a thud, and slide to the ground. He got up and turn to face his opponent, a somewhat sad expresion on his face. "I'm sorry Kaiyo... but it looks like I can't take it easy on you just cause your a girl..." He said. In a bright flash, his Jimmu was activated, and a dark blue aura was surrounding him, cracking with energy. He let all his mental restrictions go, allowing his power to flow to its max. He had never fought in this state, but he need to know what his limits were. Once his mental limitation were lifted his aura burst out to twice its size, his eyes glowed a dark blue, and a strange pattern of glowing dark blue lines appeared on his skin. The air in the room seems to come to life, as he drained massive amounts of energy. He moved as fast as he could, closing the distance between them in a blink of an eye, sending his fist straight towards Kaiyo's face.

Ryouta smiled as the fight began. He walked over to where the elevator had been and brought up a small console, which he typed a few commands into. Among these were "have some refreshments prepared" but also "take a small sample of the blood collected and send it down, along with an analyzer." Shortly after, Ryouta opened another panel in the wall to retrieve a smaller vial of blood and a small machine whose use was probably unidentifiable to anyone not in the 12th Division.

He removed both, unscrewed the vial and poured the blood into a section of the machine, and then hit a button. His intent was to see if the blood reacted in any way to Kaz's reiatsu when he was using his powers, that is, checking to see if Kaz's powers altered the structure of his cells in any way. Reason being? That was was a trait that Hollows, specifically Arrancar carried, when they used their Resurrection. His reiatsu did not feel like a Hollows- but it did not hurt to check. So far nothing. Ryouta would have to get closer, but not so close as to destroy the machine.

For now, he would sit back and wait for his opportunity, as well as analyze the way Kaz fought and what information he could garner from just observation. After all, this entire thing was being recorded anyway, and he could watch it for future playback with all sorts of features added in to enhance comprehension.

A tinge of guilt shot along the girl's spine as she watched Kazu's response. Still, Kaiyo smiled weakly in apology. Shuffling her left foot backwards as Kazu released his power. The girl already was struck by a thought. The mild concern over whether or not Kazu's power would soak up her reiatsu, and if he could handle it. The girl pushed aside that thought quickly enough, she was a Captain, she figured she could handle a superhuman.

Attention drawn by Ryouta tapping away at random machines, Kaiyo turned back to face Kazu. His fist moments from her face. Twisting her hips to the left, Kaiyo shot her left hand forwards, clamping her grasp around Kazu's wrist as her right hand gripped onto his shoulder. As quickly as he'd moved close to her, Kaiyo twisted around further, spinning on the ball of her foot as she flung Kazu past her. The girl held her stance, waiting to see how he'd react. Turning quickly to Ryouta as she called over to him, 'Don't think you can run any of your weird tests on me either in here!' she smirked slightly, though she was serious. Paranoia? Maybe, but Kaiyo wasn't a fan of being watched so closely.

A split second before his fist would have connected, hesitation filled his mind, forcing him to stop the punch in that instant. What happened next didn't surprise him. As she easily used a judo-style throw to counter his hesitant punch. He knew that punch would have landed if it was a hollow, but he had never hit a 'human' with his powers activated. Usually if he hit something with his powers activated the energy currently stored in that part of his body would discharge at the point of impact, creating an energy detonation. However, these thoughts and doubts vanished when she grabbed his wrist as he felt her energy being draw into him. He only had a fraction of a second to think about this though, be for she flung him into the air.

He twisted his body in the air, landed on his hands and feet. He slide to a stop a few feet later, his energized fingers digging into the floor and leaving smoking grooves in their wakes. He sprung quickly to his feet and charged back at her. Planting ad spinning on the ball of his right foot, he brought his left foot around with tremendous speed connecting with the small of the distracted Kaiyo's lower back. The detonating energy sounding like a shotgun as it reverberated off the walls.

"I wouldn't dream of it," replied Ryouta. Because I already have all the information I could ever need on you, Kaiyo, he thought. This was because he had access to all the security footage in Seireitei and had knowledge of all the Captains and Vice-Captains. He knew their powers, their kido capabilities, and any special traits any might possess. Nothing could hide from his camera system; not even Kuro.

As he watched, he spotted his chance to act. Kaiyo's energy was being drawn into him, being converted. The perfect opportunity. Ryouta flash stepped behind the boy as he kicked at Kaiyo, holding out his machine as he did so. The instant a bit of the boy's energy touched it, he flash stepped back. Ryouta watched with wary eyes as the machine began processing data...if this boy's powers were like a Hollow's, Ryouta wasn't sure exactly what the protocol was. He doubted Soul Society would see him as friendly.

An alternative explanation was that he was a more advanced Quincy, but Ryouta thought this unlikely. Quincies' powers were strictly defined, while Superhuman and Hollow powers were not. It seemed more likely that the boy's powers were similar to Hollow powers.

Ding! The machine gave a ringing sound to indicate complete analysis. Ryouta's brow furrowed noticeably. The blood had changed the instant it had been touched by the energy, but had reverted back to a normal state after the energy had run out. "Like Jekyll and Hyde...or like excited electrons in a chloroplast," murmured Ryouta aloud. So his powers appear to be very much like a Hollow's...what will this mean for Soul Society?
