After a training exercise Arawn came to his room and found a man waiting inside. He wore the black shinigami uniform and a sword hung at his hip, but in his hand a plain looking envelope. Anger welled up in him, who was this man to break into his room? He had short brown hair, and dark brown eyes. He looked at Arawn as he stood in the doorway. But the man's atmosphere hardly projected any malice. "Dan'Shir, Arawn?" he spoke softly, Arawn kept the door open should the need a quick escape. The man open offered him the envelope, "Congratulations on your graduation from Shinōreijutsuin." He made what looked like a half smile. Arawn was at a loss but took the handed envelope, "Graduation?" He tore open the envelope inside as a diploma like certificate with his name scribed upon it. Completion of the course.. he read aloud. Was this some joke? "What is this?" He asked the man his confusion rising.

"You are now a full fledged shinigami." The man answered matter-of-factly. "You can stay in the student dorms til you get admitted into a division. But you will get randomly called upon to fill in for various duties when short handed. As a fledgling shinigami it's recommended you continue your kido and zanjutsu studies. You will get access to advanced classes if you wish. You will receive a salary based on your ranking as such..." The man droned on with his obviously rehearsed speech. Arawn stopped him with a hand
"Wait, this is it!? I'm done, no ceremony?" he asks, the reality sinking in. This man was serious. The man's first reply is a chuckle. Arawn finds his face burning with anger.
"Sorry kid, don't make that face." He waves his hand trying to calm the student down. "Usually there is an large ceremony and presentation, but there are several factors." He takes a seat in the room's only chair. "The sheer number of students any kind of ceremony would take days to finish." He sighs, "But what's more is your status." Arawn looks at him blankly. The man shakes his head. "The fact you don't know makes it all the more obvious. There are people here of noble decent. For them graduation is a privilege and honor; another shining achievement to further their houses. Such ceremonies are sponsored for by their own families." He points to at Arawn "For someone without any kind of ties, they wouldn't even have such an event." The truth hurts, but he can't dispute it. He was alone here, so his graduation wasn't going to be some parade worthy event. He hung his head slightly in defeat. The man stood and patted him on the shoulder. "Don't let it get to you. It doesn't matter how you graduated, the fact remains you accomplished what's taken others years to do. Become better than those stuffed shirt nobles." He exited the room. Arawn stood there for a moment as the mans words echoed in his head. He had taken a step forward, and yet it felt like such a feeble one.
