The Captains Office

Kaiyo's office had finally been re-decorated. The large room was bright and filled with light. The large slide, double doors opened to reveal a large collection of intricately carved weapons along the adjacent wall. With two sofa's and a small coffee table just to the left of that. The floor was a soft wood. Behind the sofa's, along the 'weapons wall', just to the left, were two more screen doors, opened that lead into a small private Garden. At the far left of the office, in front of a long book-case was Kaiyo's desk. Unusually arranged with neat files and piles of folders and forms.

Kaiyo's office was in general, quite large, open, bright and spacious. Along the wall of the main entrance to the office were various plaques, along with Kaiyo's previous Lieutenant sash, her Captains certificate and her academy graduation certificate. The short Captain lay sprawled lazily on one of her sofa's, a large straw hat covering her face as she napped quietly.

Kaiyo’s head jerked upwards; the straw hat tumbling to the ground with a faint rattle as the girl head butted Leden, in her frantic scramble to her feet. The girl’s initial reaction was to sniff out the aforementioned cookies; apparently growing up had been a negative so far. 'Cookies? Where?!' Kaiyo’s eyes flickered quickly around the room; the tactical knowledge of surveying a combat scene had clearly come in handy here. Kaiyo froze. The smile quickly dropped from her face as a glare fell upon the one responsible for her immediate disappointment through the lack of cookies. This was until the girl’s brain finally kicked in; the registering of her previously ‘dead’ friend was in truth a shock for Kaiyo. As it likely would be for anyone who had been saved by a friend, and after returning to his bed-side each month, surely someone would have told her Leden had finally woken up.

The rush of emotions hit the girl as she stared into her friends eye for a moment longer; utterly stunned. Kaiyo had never been able to explain the gratitude she felt towards Leden; she’d also never been able to tell him how pissed off she was that he’d do something so stupid just to save her…Although in truth, Kaiyo would likely have been dead had Leden not saved her. Regardless, the silence was beginning to seem a little awkward. So, in her usual manner, the girl just smiled up at her friend; flinging her arms around him as she hugged him tightly. Kaiyo was seldom so serious or emotional, but she had fair cause. ‘Welcome back’ she said in a soft voice, unsure of what the appropriate greeting was for someone who had been dead for the past year.

Kaiyo leant backwards from Leden with an inquisitive look, her arms still holding to either of his arms as the girl shot forwards her right knee into the guys gut. 'What the hell were you thinking? You could have died?!' she said in a mild anger; although to Leden, who knew Kaiyo better than most people, it would be clear that this annoyance was simply through worry over his safety, and maybe even a mild irritation, that she wouldn't be able to pay him back.

The girl swept her hair gently back into place, unsure of what to say as her mouth opened to form new words that simply wouldn't come out. Honestly, what else could she say. Leden know her well enough to know what she was thinking, and kaiyo didn't exactly want to explain it. The girl glanced down at herself for a moment, shuffling closer to Leden as she stoop up on her tiptoes, 'Look! I've grown!' she exclaimed in an excitable voice, ignorant of the fact that she was still standing on her tiptoes.

Kaiyo laughed gently as Leden measured her against his sword, an inch quite frankly had already been a magical growth spurt as it was, and 100 years may have been a little ambitous. Nevertheless the girl smiled up at her friend, simply glad to have him back. The girl spun around her office aimlessly for a second as Leden spoke, gesturing to the sofa's as the girl jumped down onto the seat. Kaiyo pulled her feet up as she crossed her legs.

'New guys?' she repeated as Leden asked, of course tha qeustion was a little odd, it didn't seem like Kaiyo had any new squad members. 'Oh yeah..they're new guys, just in from the academy' she beamed at Leden. Only just realising that she was a vice-captain last time they had spoken.

Kaiyo turned slightly where she sat, shuffling her Haori around her as she leant backwards against the arm rest of the chair, facing Leden. 'So...You're still in my squad right Leden?' she giggled lightly.

OF CORSE I AM ..."he stated with much excitement and resolve . he could not see him self in any other squad for right now. he was a born fighter and he need to be in a squad that was going to give him the most opportunity to do so. also he knew he would get stronger fast in this squad mainly because of Kaiyo at her age she could be considered a prodigy in his eyes.

they seem strong ....there pretty nice we should take them out on a mission ....see what there made of..." he smiled in the back of his mind he just wanted to see how good they where. he had been gone for a wile but he was looking forward to getting his rank back and make the squad strongest out of all the others.

leden walked around and sat down across from her and smiled it was nice to hangout with her like this . he was just good to not be locked in his dark dreams of screams and bad memories. he pored her a cup of tea and him self some. " can i ask you something?"

'Good!' Kaiyo giggled gently at Leden's response, figuring the guy would probably like to scare the new recruits with a mission or two, but that was common in most squad actually. The girl knew full well that Leden was a capable fighter, and the sad fact was that if he hadn't been stupid enough to save her life, he'd probably be the Captain by now. There was an edge that then appeared in the room, a serious tone that crept through a mild tension that had appeared between the pair.

Though Kaiyo felt instantly comfortable around Leden, it was simply an effect he had on her, a calm and friendly demeanour that had been so hard to find around Soul Society, and Kaiyo trusted Leden, with her life...clearly. The girl took a sharp sip of her tea before placing it down on the table in front of her. Shuffling back on the sofa as she crossed her legs and arched her back forwards, listening intently, 'Anything' she smiled re-assuringly.

Kaiyo lowered her head slightly, strands of hair falling over her face as she smiled to herself. Even if he tried to act like a tough guy, Leden was a genuine person, and he cared a lot for Kaiyo, and vice versa. The girl giggled lightly regardless, 'Well if you're offerin to help with the paperwork' she stuck her tongue out at Leden, knowing fully well he didn't exactly mean that. Kaiyo sat back up straight, whipping her head back as her hair fanned through the air, falling into its usual messy place. 'I'm not sure i wanna let you beat up my new squad members..I already get told off lots for sending so many of them to the 4th squad ya know' she smirked with a joking serious manner.

Kaiyo smirked lightly, 'Well i guess i could deal with some hollow hunting for a while, we'll have to see what we got' she mused with a light enjoyment of the thought, jumping neatly over the back of her sofa as she began rummaging through a few folders on her desk. Kaiyo blew a few rogue strands of her hair out of her face as she continued the mission search. Her eyes twinkling as she stood back up straight, slinging the folder over to Leden. 'How about that one? Escorting a noble family member through a high hollow count area' the mission wasn't until a few days later, but Kaiyo didn't want Leden jumping into anything straight away. Then again, she didn't exactly know how long he'd been awake for.

Kaiyo pushed off her right hand against the back of her sofa, landing with a padded thud back onto her seat. 'Hey, quick question, what do you remember? Before the whole coma thing?'

Kaiyo raised a slight smirk to the 4th squad comment, it was to be expected really. Despite the girl's own genuine respect for the healers of the Gotei 13, many shinigami weren't so open to their role. Though at the back of her mind, Kaiyo was still certain she could have any of them fighting decently within a few hours.

A polite giggle, Kaiyo always figured if she lost her memory, she'd be able to remember the pain, and how many times her own Zanpakuto had beaten the crap out of her. Kaiyo started to feel uncomfortable when Leden mentioned the hollow. She herself had the image burnt into her mind; her own rush to catch her friend who's saved her life as he fell from the sky. Motionless and empty. A weight at the pit of her stomach anchored her down to the sofa. Guilt. Regret. A maelstrom of emotions Kaiyo wished would just go away. She knew Leden would likely do it again in a heart-beat. Only this time, she wouldn't let him.

Kaiyo shrugged it off with a smile. 'Cool, well get together some folks for a mission. You may wanna check out my new Vice Captain as well' she added. 'He's nice' of course a brief reference to a good character was needed, Kaiyo was unlikely to let anyone not nice be her vice captain.
