Okay, I have a good suggestion. Why don't we have a time limit for posting?

By this I am merely suggesting what almost all successful sites do; give someone a certain ammount of time to respond to a topic before the topic moves on without them if possible.

I don't want to become long winded so I'll give an example.

Currently I am in a Topic. This topic is a fighting topic, an IC fighting Topic involving three people. One of the Rpers haven't responded since about 4 days ago. It's annoying to not be able to do anything else all because I have to wait for some inactive rper who didn't even have the courtesy to post a leave of absense before becoming inactive, before I can do anything else IC.

I suggest in a fight or before actions, users be allowed 48 hours to respond to the said action before the acting character is allowed to connect with the action but in case someone has a leave of absense then the topic can be locked if one of the people involved don't want to wait and want to instead take their character to another setting.

Dude...its your turn to post...

Spoiler:

thats pretty much sums the exsample up...

so please...READ THE EDITED POSTS BEFORE COMPLAINING!!!(dont deny that this is a complaint)

however back to the suggestion at hand

...It is a good idea, and would allow for us to keep track of who is still active or not...just for the wrong reasons it was brought up...

not to mention you hadn't posted a reply until the day before yesteday, and mine was posted as of yesterday... So please, if you're going to exaggerate, do it upon another individual of less intelligence than I, as well as check your facts, and please, stop berrating everyone. It's childish and immature, especially for one who values their precious rules as an RPer. And another thing; your hipocracy astounds me. If you would like to ascertain my reasons, please, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I will continue our RP topic with you and Pajaro, if you would be so kind as to make your post intead of complaining about a fictional and overly exaggerated time-lapse in which I was not here. Thank you.

Please, if you want to talk about the fight, then please PM me about it. Darkness, as a moderator you seemed to have completely disregarded the fact that this is a suggestion and what I used was a example, regardless of if it was or wasn't true, it still applies to the suggestion.

Now then, may you be so kind as to delete these rants about our fight and give your moderator opinion on the suggestion itself?

. . . Are you purposely being rude to me btw? Regardless, it proves my point further; amongst all the ranting and large pictures that should be spoilers, I didn't seem to notice that part in there. Now then, once again and for the last time, I will kindly ask you to delete the posts and details about the update on the fight. Otherwise, I'll just kindly ask another mod to do it for me. If you feel the need to try and insult me with pictures, please do it in pm instead of a suggestion topic.

No no no theres no need for any of this...It is a Good suggestion, but you are exsagurating(blah lack of sleep) on the point that almost all sucessful sites have time limits... ive never been on a site with time limits for posts... so really they are a good idea, but if the community stays active then there isnt a real problem...when they are not active then YES we need the time limits in place, but for now the people on this site are pretty active... Time zones prevent them being on all at once but still we have 20-30 members on within a 24 hour time frame... i know that people on this site are in fact Exclamation PEOPLE Exclamation and have their own lives to lead.

Basicly is what im getting at is "Life comes at ya fast" So people might not get on as often as others, or people might go a couple days without internet and the absolutly cannot post a 'leave of absense' of course life goes on without them anyway.

So Yes to a time limit. No to only 48 hours, it needs to be extended in my opinion...

WARNING EXCESSIVE RANT IS WITHIN

It almost sounded like you just tried to say because we live in different timezones that could interfere with the time suggestion. Time doesn't alter for timezones and by time I mean time. If one second goes by here one second also goes by there.

If someone posted At 2:30am but the time is 4:00pm where you live; Two hours later it will be 4:30am there but 8:pm here. . . meaning 4 hours just went by for both time zones Smile

That's not what he was trying to say. The time zone reference is just bringing to light the fact that not everyone is on at the same time. Lets stop with all the arguing and blaming everytime a suggestion is made and just talk about it objectively. It is a worthy suggestion, but we do have to put the variable of real life into play. If we did put a time limit on posts, I would think it should be longer than just 48 hours. A lot of things can happen to prevent people from being on as often as others.

I agree with Kuro, 48 Hours seems too strict. Yes, alot can happen in 2 days, My computer might get urinated on by a bunch of stray dogs or a ball of yarn might attract a bunch of kittens being ridden by mice holding bottles of water with their sole purpose being to damage my computer as much as possible. I would have no other way of reaching a CPU after something like that, being that the internet I am using is the only way I can use the internet.

Basketball

If we're gonna make a time limit, I think it be best for at least 3 or 4 days before connecting a hit or moving on from the topic without the inactive person.

*Reads a few lines of the first post... and then Kuro's post*

Time limits are a bad idea.

1. People would get annoyed very quickly and leave the site, kind of counter-productive since we are revamping the site to get new members.

B. We understand that not all people can focus every hour of the day to the site. We all have some form of work/school to focus on which can distract us for a day or so depending on if there are exams or something...

GREEN. Rushed posts are not quality posts...

So no time limits. That is all...

M1, I think you are not getting this at all. Or perhaps you are not grasping the full idea.

There are about 10-15 people active here, no? With that being said Do you know how boring and how dead this site will be if we all just stay in one Specific Topic if one person decides to become inactive? Then people will look elsewhere to RP while they wait and probably forget about their post here to continue.

Before you say "Go to another Topic then" Let me remind you of something everyone else may or may not have understood when they read and agreed; Being more than one place with a character IC Is a very popular form of Meta gaming and disorginization.

I agree with Kuro and Kenji's Suggestion Involving upping the time. The fact that you have school shouldn't count towards your posting time if we do allow say a 96 Hour time limit Unless you have classes that last nearly all day (College) in which case you should post saying you may be absent or inactive or rarely on so that we know to avoid being in a Topic with you and if you have so much time as to come on and post in the first place (Not you in particular) Then I'm more than sure you can come on and post an absense.

As for the "What if a accident occurs to me and I can't reach my CPU" Let me respond with this; If such a thing were to happen, How would we know? You expect someone to stay in the Topic you both are in and wait about a few weeks before you are able to get back on finally and say "Here I am" While keeping your character in the same Topic? That would more than likely make people want to leave to go on a site that seems more active and brings me to my second point; This suggestion isn't just for impatient people, it is a. . . (For lack of a better word;) warning from one person to another. Say my cpu does break and no one can know and An entire plot has to Cease merely for that reason for more than 3 Days? Alot of the Captains are in this one IC Topic and are unable to move without this rule and await the response to the absent party. Now if the Party posted that they are absent of course I suggest making it so that the Topics can be abandoned and a Mod or Admin can delete them.

Well I notice another thing you've mentioned. Meta-Gaming.

Meta-gaming usually refers to chracter/player knowledge.

Such as all of a sudden making your character rush back to your house because another poster just said that they are going to kill your wife. You wouldn't know that...

That's what I think of when you say meta-gaming.

Now when you talk of being in only one thread, that is not true on this site. You can easily post saying that this occured before of after another thread. Such as a mission to hunt hollows. In another thread, you can say that you've just returned from that mission, letting us know that this takes place after the fact, so you wouldn't me in more than one place.

The reason I bring all this to attention is if some one is posting slowly, find another thread to apply your focus. If the one satys inactive for more than a handful of days, it can be locked and you can assume it played out however you wish...

But I don't like the idea of time limits...

Meta gamming, like God modding, has many different types and meanings. But lets have that discussion for another time.

Saying something occurd before or after something is still metagaming. Instead of explaining with a whole 'nother rant allow me to give an example.

I joined a topic, but in this Topic I said It was 4 hours before getting into that other topic. In this Topic. . . I Died by the hand of a Hollow, and since it was IC; I'm pretty sure my character couldn't have been revived. So now what?

Do I post saying My character just falls and dies in the other Topic? Or perhaps in the dozens of other Topics I decided to join because I was impatient and waited a week for responses. Get what I'm saying?

Don't end up dying? Most people plan exactly how there characters will die. If you know that's coming up then don't leave the thread...

Preventing your character from dying in a IC Thread is pretty far out of your control. You go into a Topic; and go against someone like me, There is no garauntees of whether or not you will live in that Topic. And if you chose not to leave the thread that goes back to my suggestion, since you just dismissed your own A incredibly crucial suggestion Icon_wink

Btw Nathan, It isn't a form of Meta gaming. M1 was right to an extent but Meta gaming isn't being two places at once, I forgot what they call it but it is in your AMP I'm sure of it.

Read rules 6 and 7

Player characters can not die unless permission is given by the owner, that is one of the rules... You must coordinate how things go down with the rest of the rpers, that's why we have PMs and a CBOX...

That shouldn't come as a surprise 47. Most rp sites work under that rule. New Divide was one of the first I saw that acutally worked on a "checkmate, you're dead" level.

It is a big surprise. I haven't seen that rule since 05, I can honestly say that out of all the sites I've RP'd on This is the third one I've seen use that rule. The last one was

http://www.createforum.com/bleachendgame

and they (because of the many people who took advantage of that rule) deleted that very same rule some time last year. The one before that site, died thanks to the many people who would rather RP on a site in which whatever goes, goes.

I forgot the link to that site as did probably Everyone who rp'd on it but I know the name of the site; Bleach: Zanpakuto or something like that, they misspelled Zanpakutou.
