A Chance Meeting?

Kaoseu walked around the compound, talking to the occasional academy student, subtly asking any if they'd seen any captains lately. He talked to one girl for about 15 minutes, being friendly, then finally got his answer. Apparently, she had seen the 11th division captain at the sparring grounds. Kaoseu nodded his thanks and made haste to the sparring grounds, hoping to catch the captain in action, an maybe ask for a little spar. He grinned to himself, his excitement peaking as he ran through the lanes, finally standing in front of the sparring grounds, his eyes wild.

He walked in and decided to go over a few single blade katas, keeping his other blade hidden, as per normal for him. He swiveled and pivoted off his right foot, lashing his left arm, which held his blade, like a whip. As he came around, he ran through the dozens of students practicing, fighting up to two at a time, disarming them all, just as a warm up. He went around the entirety of the grounds, until every student was disarmed. He then helped each one in turn by showing them pointers on what to do when you're suddenly attacked, as well as to keep from being disarmed.

Kaiyo had been bored...again. The short captain had been offered a morning speech at the academy, so while Kaiyo sent her squad out to patrol the rougher districts of Rukongai, she'd gone for a stroll around the academy. The Captain wasn't sure about the looks she got, there had been quite a mixed reception. For those who had never heard of the girl, they hadn't expected her as the 11th division Captain, and for those who had...well a few had just wanted to fight.

Kaiyo had hidden on the roof outside the sparring grounds, her reiatsu dwindled down into almost nothingness as she lay silently on the roof. Resting her head on her arms as she smiled up at the warm sun. Kaiyo had managed to avoid the group that had literally followed her around the academy, although most had tried not to be so rude as to talk to a Captain so boldly. The girl sighed lightly, about to let her mind wander away with the wind when she sat bolt up. Her face one of mild confusion and interest as Kaiyo flash stepped into sparring grounds; just in time to catch the end of some guys little show. The girl smirked lightly, from behind the masses of students that hadn't realised her appearing behind them.

Kaiyo simply started clapping, the small noise she made was irrelevant, once she'd gotten peoples attention her appearance seemed to sweep through the crowds of students. There was a silence. Kaiyo smiled sincerely at the guy, 'Whats yer name?'

Kaoseu looked up, catching sight of a little girl on the roof, except there seemed to be something a little off about this girl... She had a fierce, hard look in her eyes, something Kaoseu was familiar with, and he suddenly realized this must be the captin of the 11th division. He grinned widely and replied with a bow of his head, The name's Kaoseu. Can I ask yours?" he said, mimicking her slightly aloof tone and way of speaking. He brought his katana up to his shoulder, and waited patiently, his hand relaxing on the hilt.

Kaiyo smirked lightly, the guy definitely seemed to have the tone of a shinigami down. The blonde girl stepped closer to him, holding out her hand to the guy as she spoke, 'Kaiyo Saiyouko, Captain of the 11th Squad...as if the Haori doesn't give it away' she giggled lightly. Kaiyo held out her right hand to shake the guys, tapping the hilt of her blade with her left hand. The girl's gaze dropped slightly, as she eyed the guy up, her smile fading as she did so. Kaiyo looked back into the guys eyes; a faint wind sweeping through the sparring grounds as her headband flickered in time with her clothing. Kaiyo bit her bottom lip for a moment, her smile returning asher face lit up, 'So, are you any good with that thing?' she smiled, gesturing to the guys relaxing blade resting on his shoulder; always on the look out for new recruits.

Kaoseu grinned and took the hand respectfully, gleaning as much information as he could from the way she carried herself and the way she balanced, as well as that she was eying him as well. His smirk grew as he replied, "Great to meet ya, Captain Kaiyo. And as fer me being any good, I don't know how I'd judge that compared to yer standards and abilities as a captain." he said, grinning ever wider. "I'd be up to lettin' you see first hand, and you can be the judge." he added, keeping to the aloof speech, liking the feeling of it rolling off his tongue, allowing her the choice in what she wanted to do, figuring battle was something she got asked for a lot. He'd give her the best show he could, if she said yes.

Kaiyo kept her expression blank for a moment, tilting her head to one side for a moment. With a slight sigh, the girl turned around and walked to the other end of the sparring ground, and turned around. Kaiyo smirked over to Kaoseu, 'You better be better with swordplay than you are words'. The students that had parted to let the Captain walk past didn't need prompting to move, they took their seats quite ready to watch the fight.

Kaiyo's mind wandered for a moment, considering whether she was simply getting a reputation for beating up academy students...she was in the 11th squad people expected it anyway. Kaiyo flicked up the hilt of her blade with her left thumb, slowly unsheathed her Zanpaktou with her right hand as she stood in no particular stance, her blade in her right hand, and her left hand rubbing the back of her neck for a moment of thought, 'Well, i think its fair if you get the first hit...I gotta have time to judge' she smirked, her senses sharpening as she waited for the first strike.

Kaoseu grinned, excited for this battle. He was definitely going to attempt to give this a captain a run for her money. "If ya say so, I can't look past a lady's gesture." he said, as he smirked as well and rushed forward, keeping his blade exactly where it was. When he was within range, he leaned forward towards the ground and slashed his blade like a whip, being careful to keep his guard up and keeping an eye on all of Kaoyo he could in case her limbs lashed out for him. There was no way he was going to let a hit land this early in the battle.

Kaiyo watched closely as the guy ran forwards; good poise, good balance, nice speed. The girls pun on her heel bringing her arm up as her blade collided with Kaoseu's. Kaiyo's smile grew, filled with a certain blood-lust. Nice power as well she mused inwardly. Kaiyo moved quickly after the attack, stepping her left foot to the side of Kaoseu as she brought her blade behind her back with her right hand, aiming a slice along at the guys hip as she turned. Taking hold of her Zanpaktou with two hands this time. Kaiyo jumped backwards slightly, skidding to a halt as she held her stance. Her face still filled with enjoyment as Kaiyo released some her spiritual energy, equalling that of her opponent as her eyes flashed with light for a moment. Kaiyo slight her right foot backwards further, keeping her eyes fixated on her opponent. 'This is gunna be fun' she said in an almost sing-song tone.

Kaoseu matched her sidestep, taking a slight cut to his hip, which he ignored, the bloodlust coming out in his eyes as well. He watched her stance, then saw her right foot slide slightly backwards. He quickly formulated a plan and rushed at her, humming to himself as he went, and at the last moment, just before impact, he switched his blade to a reverse grip and spun, turning his back to her as he pushed down on the blade of the captains and collapsed into the splits in an attempt to knock the right foot from under her seeing as it was farther back, hoping to knock the captain to the ground and gain an advantage. "Hehe, dis is gunna be WAY fun, captain." he laughed merrily.

Kaiyo felt her foot swept from beneath, a moment of panic flashing across her face; arching her back backwards and she released her sword and placed both hands flat out the ground, springing off her hands as she skidded backwards along the dojo floor. Kaiyo been floored, but she had decided to lose her sword...great idea, idiot! she cursed inwardly.

Kaiyo sighed lightly, as she took a new stance. Trying to get her sword back by just running at it would be a stupid idea, and she figured she could take an academy student without her sword, of course her usual idea of not hurting her opponent too badly was likely to get in the way of that plan. This guy was good. Kaiyo moved her arms backwards as she slid her haori off her shoulders and slung it through the air, if she wanted to be quick that damn thing was going to get in the way. 'So what squad are you thinkin of joinin Kao?' she smiled, clearly interested enough in the guy to try and sway his opinion.

Kaoseu couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. He was up against a captain and still alive, albeit taking a cut already, but this was still much more fun than he had anticipated. He was shaken that his attempt at flooring her had failed, but delighted that it left her without a sword. He wondered what her next plan would be, and debated on giving her back her sword, unless then decided against it, figuring that it would make her have to use more force as a captain to get it back.

"The rate this is goin', there's only one squad I'm interested in... Kaiyo-taicho." he said grinning fiercely as he awaited her next move.

Kaiyo nodded for a moment at the guy, her smile strewn across her face like a madman. The girl had in truth expected Kao to take advantage of her being completely un-armed, but maybe the guy didn't think it was appropriate to attack first, given the situation. Either way, Kaiyo vanished from sight for a moment, flash stepping quickly to behind the guy as she sent a roundhouse kick to the back of his head. Upon landing Kaiyo decided she needed to be really quick now, seeing as her opponent was blocking her from her Zanpaktou.

The girl bent her knees as the impact of the ground hit her hard. Kaiyo lunged upwards with a right uppercut, bringing her left arm around with a left hook. The girl pushed off the ground once more, keeping her guard up as she shot her knee up against the guys jaw before landing back to the ground. 'How are ya findin the warm up?' she smiled, bouncing from one foot to the other, simply because she was finding it hard to keep still because of all the adrenaline.

The flash step caught Kaoseu completely off guard and he took the roundhouse hard to the back of the head, and was almost sent sprawling until he felt a small fist connect with the right, then left side of his face, finally ending in a well placed knee under the chin. The white-haired ninja stumbled back, spitting up blood from his mouth, the salty, metallic taste coating his tongue. He grinned bloodily and licked his lips as he righted himself, still swaying slightly.

"Hehe, dat hurt, cap'n. And it's one helluva warm up! But now it's time to step it up!" he said, freeing his arms from his uniform, letting the upper half hang. He tossed the captain back her blade and began rolling up and down on the balls of his feet, then took out his second blade, connecting it to the hilt of its twin in a way that when held straight up, the sharp side of the top blade faced left and the bottom faced right, creating a two-blade. "Ready when you are!" he called

kaiyo caught her blade with her right hand, her smile dropping as kao drew another blade. The girl was in truth a little disappointed he didn't go all out from the start with both blades, Kaiyo shook her head lightly, 'You're so gunna pay for that one' she uttered with only a vague annoyance to her playful tone. The girl assessed the extended blade quickly, unsure if he could break it apart during combat, either way it did make for more interesting fighting. The girl ignored the blood stained bandages that wrapped the hilts, she had no issue with blood, and souvenirs from past fights were a common occurrence in her squad, one guy had brought back an ear...

Kaiyo rushed forwards at the guy, considering for a fleeting moment if her shikai would floor him; she decided against it. Kaiyo leapt into the air, her blade raised above her head as she struck it down towards Kao's left shoulder. In equal time Kaiyo aimed a kick to the guy's sternum, pushing off as as she jumped backwards. No sooner had she landed did Kaiyo rush towards kao once more, flipping over the guys head with a speedy and precise landing as she lunged quickly at the guys back, putting a bit more force into her attacks. The Captain swung her blade quickly as she aimed various slices at Kao's torso. Kaiyo didn't retreat; she was better with close range combat anyway.

As Kaiyo took a flying leap at him, Kaoseu burst into hysteric laughter, the thrill of battle enveloping his mind in a sweet, numbing embrace. He leaned back and put one end of the blade on his shoulder, blocking Kaiyo's with the flat end, angling his other blade so that when Kaiyo's foot landed on him, he could spin the blade swiftly in a circle. He hoped to spin her in the air before she got a chance to move too far away, seeing as his timing was slightly off and he began to spin the blade a little too late.

Hageshii entered the area the two people were sparing, and noticed the smaller one was the capitan that had been roaming aimlessly. Hageshii saw this as a great oppurtunity to learn about the types of poeple these two were by watching the way they fight. He climbed to a small perch indented on a wall and watched from a safe distance as the taller one let out a spine chilling laugh.

"Interesting." He mumbled to himself as he began to take notes on the tall one.

The laughter was a little off-putting, but Kaiyo didn't mind, it was simply the sign of a good fight. Kaiyo loved combat, most folks of her division did, and it was something that couldn't be shared to those who felt differently. Simply put, the heart-pounding pressure that releases a persons true identity is found in combat, and its that buzzing thrill of pain and fun and the competition that Kaiyo loved. There was a well known saying that accompanied the 11th squad, and one that Kaiyo had so early sworn by, 'Pain is only a consequence of having fun'

The girl was thrown off balance when she tried to jump off from Kao's blade, and in a mild panic Kaiyo decided mid-air she needed to flash step a few paces away to safety. The Captain appeared again just metres away from Kao, a smile slashed across her face as her eyes seemed to light up with a short spark of lightning; the girl's Zanpaktou ability. Of course getting so involved in a fight was generally a bad idea when fighting academy students, and the chances of Kaiyo forgetting to hold back soon were getting greater. Kaiyo's head turned only for a moment to the entrance of the new guy, usually people didn't dare move around when she was fighting.

Kaiyo pushed off her back foot quickly, rushing through the air with an un-natural speed as she flash stepped at the last minute, swinging her blade along at the guys right shoulder as she landed behind him. Kaiyo reversed the grip on her Zanpaktou, not turning around as she held both hands on the hilt of her blade and thrust it backwards, aiming to cut straight through Kao's back.

Kaiyo was way too fast to keep up with, but Kaoseu had enough intelligence to lean back as she began to rush. She disappeared suddenly, and he felt a large gash open up from about the center of his bare chest to the back of his right arm, blood spurting upon the ground from the wound. His grip began to slacken on his right hand and he quickly switched to his left, being ambidexterous, but it wasn't fast enough to stop Kaiyos blade from piercing his back all the way through. Luckily, Kaoseu was tall enough that it missed his major organs and arteries. He let the blade pass through, bearing the immense pain as he gritted his teeth and jumped back, falling on top of Kaiyo as he aimed his blade for her ribs, knowing she was turned around from him. He was determined to at least land a scratch on the captain before he passed out from blood-loss.

Kaiyo's eyes shaded back to a lighter colour for a moment as the girl felt a trickle of guilt shoot along her spine. Kaiyo spun around quickly when she felt her blade pierce through the guys torso. Kao was already looking in pretty bad shape, as the guy fell with a pointed blade. 'Catch him and take the hit, or move out the way and let him fall' the thought flashed through her mind almost instantly. Kaiyo didn't have much time to react, in fact, all the Captain managed to do was lunge forwards her right hand to yank her Zanpaktou back out of the guy as she followed the motion in throwing her blood soaked Zanpaktou behind her. The sword smashed through the wall of the Dojo as Kaiyo stood still.

Only pushing her reiatsu around where the blade would pierce her in the hopes it wouldn't cause as much damage. Kaiyo couldn't release of her spiritual energy, if she had, the girl would only have passed out quicker...along with probably everyone else in the dojo. Kaiyo winced slightly as she turned to her side, not wanting the hit to prove fatal as the blade pierced sharply through her left side. Kaiyo caught the tall guy with seeming ease as he fell on top of her. Blood trickling from her wound as she smiled, 'That was fun'.

Kaiyo looked up from Kao's gaze as she gently rested the guy down on the floor, 'I need a healer here, NOW!' she ordered, the various healing students rushing into the fighting area to help. Kaiyo inhaled deeply, pressing down on her wound to stop the bleeding as the most sheepish fourth squad trainee scurried over to heal her.

Kaoseu grinned bloodily up at Kaiyo, a fire burning in his eyes. He was a little upset that he had lost, but he had expected to. He sat up, gritting his teeth in pain as he did so. The blood seeped through the open wound, but he hadn't passed out yet as he looked at Kaiyo and grinned wider.

"That was way fun, cap'n. But keep a lookout. If I can press ya enough to use even a slight bit of whatever that shinin' was, be prepared for me when I get strong enough to fight on par with ya. Still almost kicked yer ass." he joked as the healer went about his duties, treating Kaiyo and him.

Kaiyo nudged aside the other academy students trying to heal her, 'I'm fine' she mumbled, leaning over Kao with a smirk, 'Yeah, its not like i had to hold back or anything' she laughed lightly, tapping Kao's shoulder with her foot as she prepared to leave, 'Really close though' she winked at the guy, 'I'll come and see ya when your patched up better' she nodded. The Captain pushed aside the worrying group of students; 'I said i'm fine! Heal him' she ordered, calming down the mild panic as she passed through the small crowd, she'd send a proper 4th squad member afterwards though, just in case. Kaiyo's wound had actually been healed, it was just the mild stinging and bleeding left, there was no real issue with that though; Kaiyo was used to pain.

The Captain's cheeks tinted a light shade of red as she gently retrieved her Zanpaktou from the hole in the wall...yeah, she'd be paying for that one later. Kaiyo slid on her Haori and sheathed back up her blade, quickly flash stepping over to the guy who's been making notes, as she appeared over his shoulder, peering at what he;d written. The girl smiled sweetly, apparently ignorant to the blood that had seeped onto her white Captains coat. 'Did ya get everything ya needed?' she giggled gently, patting the guys shoulder before leaving the dojo, heading back to her squad barracks with a gentle stroll.

Kaoseu let the healer do his work but stopped him when the wound was closed. He stood and watched the captain leave, laughing to himself. He looked at where she stopped before she left and studied the shinigami sitting there, feverishly taking notes. Kaoseu gathered his blades and disconnected them, sheathing them back. He then walked over to where the guy was sitting and sat down in front of him, waiting for him to finish taking notes, and when he was done, he said, "So, whatcha got so far? I wanna make sure you have all tha essentials, not just watcha saw. You wasn't here from start to finish."

*Hageshii watched the crowd calm when the captain flashed stepped above him. She spoke and he glanced up as her hand tapped his shoulder. He hopped off his perch and rushed to catch up to her.* "How kind of you to hold back. Was it guilt or was it pity?" *Hageshii asked without trying to sound completely rude.*

Kaiyo turned around slowly at the guys voice, he seemed maybe even too eager to find out her answer, even though to her, the question was stupid. Kaiyo rubbed the back of her neck gently, her blood stained haori fluttering gently in the breeze as she looked at the guy in silence for a moment. The girl's face was blank, a calm and yet under-stated emotion had swept over the Captain as she moved closer to the guy.

Sighing lightly before she spoke, 'I don't think you understand...I hold back because i enjoy fighting, and if i didn't, i'd have killed the guy, and where's the fun in that?' Kaiyo patted the guy's shoulder once more, fairly certain he wouldn't understand her meaning anyway, 'Look, i could kill you right now, just by releasing my reiatsu' her voice turned colder as she stared into the guys eyes when she spoke, 'But you wouldn't learn anything from that, and i wouldn't have a good spar'. Kaiyo remained silent for a moment longer after speaking, her eyes eventually drifting away from the guy as she turned to leave once more. Calling over her shoulder with a faint wave, 'Anymore questions and i'll have to show you why i prefer a good fight, but i guess that could just be a risk for you to take' she smirked lightly, turning her back of the guy as she rounded the corner of the academy and headed back to her barracks.

Hageshii heard the tone in her voice and got the message. He stood and waited until the she left before he said anything. He turned back around and quickly returned to the person he had so rudely ignored before.
"Sorry about that." Hageshii said bowing quickly "I was really wanting an interview with the captain, guess I blew it. I noticed though that your almost as eager to fight as I am to ask questions, however, you aren't as blunt. From what I saw you have a better grasp of what it is your doing. Unfortunately her reiatsu and skill level are far beyond ours, mine especially. You're a part of division 11 right? Kaoseu Enjel, was it?"
