"New Recruits Are Like Rough Diamonds..." (Shinji)

"...They have to be polished and developed into something."

Kurama had just gotten word that a new recruit was coming in today. He wouldn't be a seated officer or anything like Kurama had, but they said he may have the potential to become a skilled kido user in the future. Having skill himself in the arts of both Bakudo and Hado, he decided he'd like to meet the lad. Shinji Asakura was said to be in the squad barracks unpacking his belongings. Kurama began heading in that direction, his zanpakuto strapped to his waist as always...

Shinji was in the barracks unpacking his stuff. He had been transferred from the third squad to the tenth. He had his zanpakuto on his back for the first time. Shinji was kind of happy to be there. He was whistling to some unknown song. He could feel the breeze from the near by window. Shinji was smiling as he always does for some unknown reason.

As Kurama reached the Squad Ten unseated officer's barracks, he began to hear the sound of some one whistling. The tune was foreign to him though it did sound like a happy little song.

"Hey there! Would you happen to know where I could find Shinji Asakura?"

Kurama called to the man through an open window in the barracks. The guy was huge! Towering at about six feet, four inches and weighing around two-hundred pounds. He'd never have expected a brute like this to end up in Squad Ten, let alone this be the aspiring young kido user he sought after...

Shinji looked up to see a light blue haired Shinigami looking at him, waiting for a response to the question he'd just asked. Shinji replied, "That is me. Is there something you need?". He spoke in a kind voice, looking at the Shinigami and awaiting a response from him. Shinji smiled kindly at the Shinigami in the window.

"You are Shinji Asakura?" Kurama asked in a surprised tone of voice. He immediately realized that having judged him by his appearance had been extremely rude. "I apologize. I wasn't expecting some one so... big." It was true the man seemed more fit to be in Squad Eleven though that wouldn't get in the way of Kurama's manners. "I am Kurama Himura, sixth seat of Squad 10. I've come to see what all the fuss was over a new recruit. Would you like me to show you around a bit before you have to report to the drill sergeant?" He returned the same kind smile that Shinji had given him...

"No need to apologize, it's okay", Shinji replied. "And sure, I would love a tour around. Thank you for asking. He then walked around to where Kurama was standing. Shinji extended his hand for the Shinigami to shake. I wonder what this place looks like? He thought to himself. Hmm... I guess I will find out soon enough. Shinji waited for Kurama to shake his hand and give him the tour around before he was to meet the drill sergeant.

Kurama shook the man's hand, not quite able to return his powerful grip. "The sergeant is going to love you." He said, still shaking the new recruit's hand. Once they'd finished with their small show of friendship, Kurama began his tour of the Seireitei. "There is plenty to see around here though I'm not sure we'll be able to cover it all before it's time for your drilling. Is there something in particular you'd wish to see? You've already found the Squad Ten barracks, perhaps there is another Squad you'd like to visit? Or perhaps you'd like a tour of the Sōgō Kyūgo Tsumesho? It's the primary medical facility of the Gotei 13 and all of Soul Society. Though I'd have to check in with the Squad Four Lt..."

"I would love to visit either the Captain Commander or Squad 2." Shinji said in a kind tone. I wonder why Kurama said the Drill sergeant is going to like me? I'm probably going to be lazy so I don't think he will. Hmmm... Oh well, I dont care. Shinji thought with a thoughtful kind of look on his face. Shinji was looking at him waiting for a response.

Kurama laughed. "The Captain Commander is just a tad busy on most days." He shook his head as he continued walking. "The Second Squad sounds like an easier option. If you'd like, I could probably get you in to see Captain Akarui." Kurama turned down the next corridor, heading towards the Squad Two headquarters...

Shinji said "That would be great! There some questions I would want to ask... One day soon I would love to fight you when I become stronger. You look like a very strong person. Shinji said in a kindly manner. He continued walking with Kurama to the second squad headquarters...

Fight me? Kurama thought about the man's response for a few minutes as they walked. Was that how Soul Reapers passed the time around here? It seemed like a barbaric way to entertain themselves, or maybe this man truly did belong in Squad Eleven...

"So what did you do before you were accepted into the Gotei 13? I mean, as a kid?"

Shinji said what i did as a kid was nothing special nobody liked me i didnt realy have no friends everyboy tried to ignor me as if something was wrong with me.I started to train harder everyday I would come back to that nice lady house with scatches and brusies from either me fighting or me training,she never ask me why i had those marks so i never told her.One day I was training and about three gang member's came and tried to rob me but i wouldnt let them,so they said that they was going to kill the nice lady that looked after me and then i lost it i got so mad at them for saying that i ended up killing them.When i got back to her house i was coverd in blood,the nice lady just told me to take a shower and be ready for supper we were having my favorit.The next day she made this scarfe for me and told me never to lose it.Shinji then got lost in his memeories.Shinji then said oh mybad i didnt mean to tell you my whole life story.

"Well, it sounds like your life was a tad exciting before joining the gotei."

Kuro spoke from behind the two shinigami, messing with them in the way captains generally seemed to enjoy doing by suddenly appearing out of nowhere. He'd been taking a short walk around squad 2 headquarters when he sensed them coming. Grinning at his bad prank, Kuro bowed slightly in respect to the both of them.

"I am Kuro Akarui, the captain of squad 2. Is there anything you need me for?"

Shinji was a little startled by the captain appearance from no where.Shinji then bowed back at the captain showing his respect.Shinji then said There is nothing you could help me out with in particular i just wanted to get some advice from a captain so when i become a captain i will be able to run my squad perfectly and not make a whole lots of mistakes.
