A New arrival

The wind blasted along the cold empty street, Michael looked around nervously "H...Hello?" he eventually managed, this definately wasn't where he was, he remembered a nice warm cupper and a comfortable jeep to sit in, then a sudden bright light filling everything he could ever know so bright it hurt to open his eyes, and even with them closed it felt like he might go blind... and then darkness, darkness so desolate and lonely he almost missed the light, and then he was here, standing in this quiet street with nothing around but his thoughts.

After gathering his thoughts his hand retreated quickly to his back pocket, phew it was still there, he placed it in his mouth and lit it, taking a deep drag and then relaxing "so this is where I am now? well it's sure as shit nicer than where I was, I wonder if anybody wants to be my friend" and with that he started walking slowly down the street with it sitting delicately in his mouth.

Kaiyo sighed heavily, pushing her arms outwards as she knocked both men back onto the floor, 'I don't care!' she snapped, 'Just stop fighting when i'm trying to relax, it's off-putting!' she yelled. Kaiyo hadn't had a day off in about three months, and after getting just one moment of skipping out of the Captain's meeting, she'd managed to head over to Rukongai and have a nice drink of green tea. Then, two men tried to start a brawl; Kaiyo wasn't a fan. It was the jobs of the shinigami to break up the fights at any rate, and with none around for miles, Kaiyo had decided to step in.

The balding man of the pair stumbled back up to his feet, trying once more to charge at his opponent. Through Kaiyo. Now that was just plain rude. The girl snarled in annoyance, grabbing onto the man's throat as she threw him backwards, with a bit more force this time. 'New plan! You either fuck off, or spend the night in one of the 12th Squad's test tubes!'. It had been a toss up between that, or the threat of the 2nd squad, but considering her own hatred for the science guys, it had come out 12th. Kaiyo's eyes darted left to right. The men grumbled and wandered off in separate directions.

Kaiyo flicked her head back, her blonde hair falling back into place as she wandered back to her seat outside the noodle bar. The weather was quite mild, so Kaiyo had decided to sit outside. The girl sighed heavily and took another sip of her green tea.

Michael, still wandering along with it sitting in his mouth, had come quite far, far enough for the streets to actually yield strangers, none of them seemed friendly enough to talk to however so Michael kept looking ahead ignoring them, he reached up and scratched the back of his head nonchalantly, everywhere looked the same in this place, he was beginning to think he was lost.

After wandering around for what seemed like hours but he couldn't tell, Michael never was good at time, he'd decided he'd had enough and a seat was in order, besides it was finished and he'd need a seat if he was to create another one, but that was a task for later, for now he had the mightily important job of finding himself a seat, unfortunately these dusty streets offered nothing but houses so he continued on his way.

More aimless wandering later Michael was getting sick of walking, the army had made him do enough of that and it seemed like he was no longer in their employ, good riddance he thought to himself as he walked straight past the noodle bar, after doing a quick double take he walked backwards a few steps and sized it up, 'a decent establishment' he thought 'no idea what they sell but it's not like i've got any money' strolling up to the closest avalible seat he made to sit down before realising that this table was currently occupied, another cursory glance told him there weren't any other free tables and the company on this one was by far preferable "This seat taken?"

Kaiyo looked up from her drink to the guy asking to sit down. The girl swallowed lightly and nodded with a friendly smile, 'Hmm? Oh yeah sure' she gestured for the man to sit down. What an odd occurrence, a normal soul asking to sit with a Captain. Rather than side-stepping around any issue, Kaiyo figured she'd just be blunt, after all, tact had never really been her style. 'So, how long have you been dead?' she mused, raising her hand in the air over to the shop owner. The elderly man scurried out to the Captain and bowed low, 'Hi, can you get a drink for my friend please' she asked politely.

Looking over to the strange man with a quite intrigued look. The guy was definitely different from most souls, a spiritual energy that had some kind of actual power to it, either he was very new to Soul Society, or had something against joining the Soul Reaper Academy. no doubt he would have been scouted to join though. Kaiyo leant back in her chair, taking another sip of her steaming green tea before speaking once more. 'Sorry' she smiled, her blue eyes twinkling in the sunlight as she sat forwards, 'What did you say your name was?'

Michael smiled "thanks" he said as he relaxed into the chair, it felt good to get off his feet, he was about to start creating it when her question caught him off guard, he mouthed the words as he thought them over in his head 'how long have i been... dead?' he sat there considering for a moment and was almost ready to answer when her second question once more caught him entirely by surprise... at least he understood this one fully.

Smiling and glad to be back on familiar teritory "Michael's the name" he frowned a little as he thought over her question again quickly "and i'm 24 if that's what you're asking" The old man came over once again, this time carrying a cup, he placed it on the table in front of Michael and bowed low once again to Kaiyo and then left, the whole time Michael watched him curiously, wondering why the old man prostrated himself so, he must be talking to someone of some import, he eyed her up again then shrugged "thanks for the drink in any case, I'm parched" he raised the cup and donned a cheesey grin "cheers!" he offered before downing the beverage

Placing the now empty cup down, making a satisfactory noise Michael looked around once again, still not quite sure of his surroundings, he pulled out his materials cleverly hidden about his person and made another one before returning them to their hidden crevice and placing it in his mouth "say... you wouldn't happen to know where we are would you?" he asked, hoping it was far away from wherever he was before he arrived here, the army doesnt take kindly to desertion.

24, now that seemed all but a bit too young to be dead for a long while. This man was very odd, and what the hell he just put in his mouth didn't seem too normal around in Soul Society anyway, but Kaiyo was fairly certain she's seen such things around in the human world. The girl's train of thought drove to a sudden halt at the final question. The revealer. Seriously? Had this guy literally only just died. He knew he was dead though right?

Kaiyo squinted her eyes at the guy for a moment, leaning forwards in her chair, resting her arms on the table as she spoke. 'Erm, you're dead, and in Soul Society, where all the dead people go basically, we're in a different kind of world from Earth'...Kaiyo didn't want to say anything that might worry the guy, but guessing by his attire, he was an ex army guy, which one would assume meant he could handle it. Still, most people didn't remember a thing when they died, and either this guy was just naturally so calm about things, or he still did. Kaiyo remember her real life, but it was a bit more common amongst shinigami, and the fact that she'd been sent to a mission at her death place had jogged her memory somewhat. Still, he was a very odd case indeed.

'So...What's the last thing you remember, before dying?'. The scar was another point of interest, most wounds like that vanished when a person died. Most people, were not strong candidates to become a Soul Reaper.

Mike lit it and laughed heartily "so I'm dead huh?" he patted himself down "i feel fine" he took a long drag and coughed a little "definately feel good" he relaxed further into his chair and scratched his chin, a thin layer of stubble covered it, his sargeant had told him time and time again to keep clean shaved but he couldn't see the point so deep in the field. "the last thing I remember? well i was sitting in my jeep relaxing, when there was a bright light, it seared my eyes even though they were closed... then came the darkness" he shivvered a little "I never knew darkness came in that brand of black, I don't know how long i was like that but the next thing after that I remember I was here, wandered around a little, nobody really looked friendly enough to approach so I just kept walking and here I am"

One more long drag and then he proffered it to Kaiyo "what's your name anyway? I'm guessing your fairly important, either that or this place has excellent customer service" he laughed then started patting himself down, wondering if he'd lost anything in the transition from there to here.

Kaiyo smirked lightly at his response, he was taking death pretty well. Kaiyo nodded slowly at Mike continued his story, the bright light part made sense even if she didn't know what the hell a 'jeep' was. The girl glanced back over her shoulder, district 14 of Rukongai, it was one of the nicer ones, but she didn't know how long he'd been walking. Kaiyo's mind began to wander off when her eyes caught sight a light blue butterfly, floating through the air with a gently flap of it's wings.

The girl's head whipped back to Mike when he asked her a direct question. Kaiyo stared at him quite blankly for a second, her mind slowly catching up with what he'd said. Kaiyo stretched her right hand out towards Mike, smiling politely as she introduced herself. Name and rank, it had become second nature by now. 'Kaiyo Saiyouko, Captain of the 11th Division'. The girl's blue eyes swaying over to the door where the shop owner stood, she giggled lightly, 'And Naah, i just like a lot of green tea'. The girl shuffled back in her seat, crossing her legs up on her chair as she ran her finger along the rim of her red headband for a moment. Her eyes out of focus as she spoke, 'Well, if you ask me, that's not a bad way to die, at least you don't know how exactly it happened' a light smile was added for good measure. Talking of death all seemed a tad morbid for a relaxing day off.

Michael took the hand and shook it smiling "gee you're not kidding are you... I guess being dead means the army isn't going to come looking for me, pretty glad at that one that was going to be the focus of my next set of questions, but still.. captain, in a previous life I'd be saluting you" he scratched the back of his head "so let's assume for now I am dead, what now?"

Once more Michael looked around, the bar was quite busy, although he had no idea how busy this place is usually. he was beginning to wish he did have some money, although once more he was ignorant of what they even used for money in this 'soul society' if that was even true, still denying that fact wouldn't help him at all and this lady in front of him seemed to be in a helpful mood, he scratched his scar and winced subconciously and returned his hands to his side and stiffened a little, before rleaxing back into his chair and taking another drag from the apparently rejected it.

The girl's lips curled upwards into a slight giggle, 'No, i wasn't kidding, and most people still do salute me' she smirked. Kaiyo drew her hand back, taking another sip of her green tea. The Captain let out a sigh of enjoyment, this was pretty damn good green tea. Her left arm was stretched out further across the table, her right hand tracing around the outside of her glass. 'Okay, well, i'd suggest you join the Soul Reaper Academy. Because you can really, and they pay better than anything else, and for an ex-army guy like you, it'll probably be an easy fit'.

Kaiyo drummed her fingers on the table in thought. What else would a newly dead person need to know. 'Oh yeah, the point of Soul Reapers, shinigami, is to protect all the souls, both here and in the living world. From the impure soul's, they're the ones who after they died, hung around Earth for too long and never came here, so they change into monsters. We fight them. Ooh and we're called the Gotei 13, because we have 13 protection squads' Kaiyo rolled her eyes up to the sky as she took another gulp of green tea, her rambled explanations had never been a strong point, but she had told Mike almost everything he needed to know. Though no actual mention as to other options rose in Kaiyo's mind, because this guy just seemed like a Soul Reaper. Kaiyo tilted her head back as she drank the last of her green tea, raising her hand in the air for two more drinks.

Michael laughed again "So now that I'm dead i get to look forward to an eternity of people bossing me around and fighting horrific monsters... excellent, I suppose I shouldn't have expected anything different considering what the living world is like, so how do I go about joining this place then captain" he stands up quickly, pushing his chair backwards and ripping off a textbook salute "I don't really fancy my chances bumming around in a world I know nothing about" he then sat back down and relaxed into his chair once more with a smirk across his face

Michael's sudden rise startled a few customers but quickly this strange act was forgotten as they had more important things on their mind, things they perhaps wanted to get off their minds and share over a cup of tea, like what that sally did with our ronald, speaking in hushed tones in case either party is in fact within hear distance, the two men from before had in fact found each other once more outside of the confines of the noodle bar, and were testing each others patiences anew.

Kaiyo found light amusement from this soul, his attitude was just odd enough to be refreshing. The salute as well, just made the girl giggle more. The Captain slid her feet along the dusty ground, leaning back in her chair as she clasped her hands together. 'Well basically, you apply to join, go through the training then become a fully fledged shinigami, who fights scary monsters and keeps people safe' The proccess sounded simple enough, leaving aside the fact that the average shinigami took about 7 years to graduate from the Soul Reaper Academy.

Kaiyo flicked her right hand up, throwing a quick salute back to Mike, out of habit ore than anything else. Kaiyo stretched her arms back behind her, tilting her head up towards the blue sky as she stretched. Spanning her fingers out wide, the girl brought her arms back down to rest on the chair. Kaiyo sat silent for a second. Her face flickering to a less than joyful expression. The short blonde girl was never exactly what a person would call 'scary' but Kaiyo had her moments. The Captain stood up from her seat, knocking her chair back onto the dusty ground as she turned once more to the fighting men. Small swirls of dust danced throguh the air where she stood, settling with a pin-drop silence as Kaiyo clenched her teeth tofether. Trying to just take a moment to remind ehrself not to kill innocent people.

The girl flash stepped to in-between the two men. Sweeping her right arm outwards to let one guy avoid an on-coming punch. Kaiyo shot her left hand forwards, clasping her hand around the man's wrist. A sheer look of panic faded onto his bruised face as Kaiyo spun around on the ball of her foot, keeping a falcon grip on the man's arm as she threw him forwards through the air. Probably with a little too much force, as the man soared through the air, a few fields away. Kaiyo turned away, not even bothering to watch him thumping and bumping to a halt, he probably wasn't dead anyway. The Captain's eyes seemed cold and dark, her gaze fixated on the other, now shaking, culprit in front of her. Kaiyo sighed heavily, dropping her shoulders as she shut her eyes for just a moment longer than a blink. The girl made her way back over to her seat, she didn't even need to tell fighter man number two to run away.

Kaiyo slumped back into her chair, ignorant of the stares and whispers that had followed her actions. 'Sorry about that' she smiled lightly, her face lighting up once more, as the street returned to its previous calm nature.
