Kyofu No Tori's Midnight Meal

Kyofu flew among the darkened skies of Karakua town, looking below for his next meal. He flew silently and quickly through the sky as he hunted, and soon he found a part of his dinner. A young quincy who was training in a field. Kyofu flew in close under the cover of the clouds and when the quincy sensed his reiatsu he turned and fired his attack. Kyofu barrel rolled and dodged the attack as he dove in quickly for his meal.

The quincy tried shooting another arrow at him, however Kyofu avoided that as well with another dive. Kyofu, not being one to play with his food, decided to end it now and flew down toward the quincy quickly and grabbed him with one of his hands. He then ripped him in half and ate the quincy in two bites. He ate quickly and took off once more in search of more prey. Oh did he enjoy the night skies of the human world.

Ri jumped from rooftop to rooftop seeing how fast he could get through the town in. He he'd been sent to the world of the living for a patrol which he volunteered for because he alway felt much freer in the world of the living maybe it was because no one could see him or that he was watched by some superior but either way he loved going on patrol.

He kicked off a three story house and landed on a lamp post. He stood up to get a view of the land and then kept on leaping from house to house toward the eastern side of the town.

He wasn't far from the edge of town when he saw a hollow flying nearby. He knew he couldn't fight in the town but he was close enough to lure the hollow away.

""May the black sounds of those that have felt death emit and destroy.Hado seven Black thunder". ri chanted as a wave of black reiatsu was shoot from Ri's hand and with a thunderous noise flew through the air near the hollow. His aim was way off and doubt even if it did hit what it would do much damage at that length but it was only to draw attention.

Ri picked up the pace and started heading for the outskirts of the town hoping to fight the hollow far away from any innocent souls.

Kyofu No Tori heard the shinigami chanting thanks to the wind carrying his voice. He was easily able to avoid the kido and he decided to indulge in the shinigami's game. He flew toward the shinigami, making sure he still had enough range to dodge an attack if need be and he was definitely out of zanpakuto range. He watched the Death god carefully as he flew cautiously.

Ri smiled when he saw the hollow giving chase , he leaped from building to building keeping his pattern erratic so no to be caught out like that. He was nearing the forest that sat out side Karakura town. He could fight in the forest with worrying about innocent soul and with the heavy tree cover flying would be of little advantage to the hollow.

"Hado four White Lightning" Ri said suddenly as he pointed his right hand over is should pointing at the hollow chasing him. He kicked off a chimney and onto the roof of a large hotel that sat at the edge of the town right beside the forest.

"Hado four White Lightning , Hado four. White lightning" Ri said twice as he pointed both of his hand at Kyofu. Two light forces of reiatsu shot toward Kyofu , Ri didn't wake to see if they hit. He turned and jumped off into the forest where flying would give little use.

Kyofu noticed the incoming lightning bolt and barrel rolled out of the way easily. He noticed the man was running straight toward the forest and Kyofu knew better then to go into it. He quickly noticed that the man had fired two more of the lightning bolts at home and he quickly dived out of the way of them and stopped at the edge of the forest. He then turned toward a field about a mile away from the forest and noticed a group of humans out there having a party. Kyofu knew the shinigami would have to come out if his precious charges were in danger.

So he flew toward them and immediately grabbed three of the four. One was in his mouth which he promptly ate, and the other two were in his hands which he ate afterwards. He then gained some altitude so he could watch for any of the shinigami's attack and dodge them if need be. Now it was all a matter of waiting, there was one more human down there who was too terrified to do anything except cry in fear of what was happening. The death god would have to come rescure him.

Ri ran through the forest and seeing as the hollow wasn't behind him he could only assume he was either flying above him or circling around the area. Ri ran a bit further into the wood then by kicking from one tree to another he jump high above the trees and saw the hollow far from him circling another area.

Ri moved quickly through the forest to the field the hollow the flying over. He clear the forest when he saw the hollow eat one of the human while still holding one.*Odd* He though for a moment , hollow usually go for souls not bodied humans. He saw the hollow take to a higher altitude after eating the third human.

Ri ran directly underneath him and focus himself on the task at hand and came up with a plan he should of thought before making himself a easy target in a opened field.

"Engulfed by the need of want come forward. Hado two reel" Ri said point his right hand toward Kyofo while placing his left on his hilt. He turned his right hand to the ground and said "Hado one thrust"


The force of thrust force Ri straight up towards Kyofo and as he took off he drew his zanpakuto and lead the attack with it aimed for Kyofo so they'd both meet in mid-air,

Kyofu was suddenly pulled toward the ground however, he barrel rolled in mid air and was able to dodge the incoming zanpakuto. He then decided the shinigami wasn't a very high rank, as his kido weren't very powerful at all and he felt his reiatsu begin to go down from the few he had shot. He then decided it was time to have some fun as the soul from the humans he had eaten wandered onto the field. He suddenly let out a loud screech, causing anyone nearby to immediately see their greatest fears, he then flew toward the souls and ate them in their entirety and then flew back up into the air, safely out of range of any kido the shinigami could cast.

Ri ears tensed when Kyofu’s screech reached them, it sent a chill through Ri as he landed back on the ground beside a human holding his head and weeping. Ri wondered what was going on his everything around him melted around him and was replaced with pure blue skies all around him.

He knew exactly where he was , he was in his inner world but how it had taken day of mediation to get here the first time. Out of no where a dragon like creature came wielding a impressive red blade.

Without warning it start slashing away at Ri ,who only blocked the first blow then was stuck from behind then across his chest. He against his better judgment he but his entire weight behind a strike for the creature but he didn’t know how but his sword as take from him and he felt the tip of the creatures blade his forehead.

He waited for the legal blow but instead he felt the creature talons rib around his back and then a powerful kick struck Ri’s stomach and sent him rolling away on the ground.

“You’re going to Die. You’re unworthy to wield me” The creature said a in a strict famine tone

“No. No I’m not” Ri said gritting his teeth as he struggled to stand up to face the creature.

“This is not a choice” The creature said as he appeared in front of the Ri and laid one punch into Ri and he felt to ground but the creature wasn’t done as stood on top of Ri and continued punching him.

As the punch came Ri fade in and out of conciseness and failed to understand what was going on at all. He’d no hope left in him he was done for.

“Ri. Ri This isn’t me” The unmistakable voice of the creature said a much more soft and caring tone.

Kyofu laughed at the shinigami's predicament and flew down and sped toward him quickly. Instead of attacking him however, he grabbed the last human right out from under his nose and devoured him whole, however he spat back out the bones in front of the shinigami before taking flight again, awaiting for the soul to reappear. He didn't know what the shinigami's fear was, but he didn't care. This was just too much fun for him to wonder. He flew to a safe distance once more and watched and waited.

Ri opened his eyes and for a moment saw nothing then the blue sky filled his world again. He saw a scale fist came and hit his face but couldn’t do anything to stop it. His own Zanpakuto was about to kill and he couldn’t stop it or even stand.

“Your Pathetic” The creature said as it placed its foot on Ri’s head and pressing down hard on him. “Can’t even put up any form of a fight”

“No Ri That’s not me” The voice of the creature said again but in a different more caring tone. “Pick me up we have to fight “

The creature took its foot off ri and walked away from him laughing with a evil tone. Ri struggled to try and rise to his feet. He spotted his Zanpakuto a few feet from him and started to crawl toward it.

“You can’t even stand. I feel disgraced to even of been wielded by you” The creature said as it slowly approached Ri. Ri managed to put his hand onto his Zanpakuto and feeling a warming sensation he slowly stood up and faced the creature.

“Stand firm and we’ll fight your fear together.” The creature’s voice called to Ri in a supportive tone. Ri took his stance and waited for the creature to raise it’s sword. When it did he went of the horizontal swipe. The strike cut a gash in the creature stomach but as Ri jumped back he saw the wound vanish.

“ As I said this is not a choice you’re going to die” The creature said as it started advancing to Ri.

Kyofu No Tori flew high in the sky and then saw his target on the ground. The soul of the fourth dead victim. He swooped in and devoured the soul of the final victime. He then turned to Ri O'Nocht knowing he could still hear him. "You have failed in your very own duty shinigami, the very people you were sent to protect have died right under your nose." He called as he moved the bones from the other three victims in front of the shinigami. He then flew into the air and opened a Garganta and disappeared back into Hueco Mundo.

Listen to me Ri. Put all your strength into on strike thrust me we'll come through victorious The voice said again as Ri became determined to fight and to win.

The creature came a quick swipe at Ri but he dodged it and leaped at the creature putting everything into the strike. The creature blocked and the two blade collided for a moment Ri thought all was lost but he trusted his Zanpakutou and put everything he hand into the strike.

Suddenly gale force winds were blown out form the two blade and slowly Ri's blade started to cut through the creature sword and as it was cut in two Ri's weight force his blade down straight onto the creature face but before it cut everything flashed white.

When he opened his eyes again he found himself in the open field. He look around the hollow and the human was gone but checking himself out he felt no damage on him what so ever. He figured what he'd gone through was the hollow special ability.

Ri leaped around the town for sometime looking for the Hollow but after a few hour he gave up the hollow had to of retreated and it was time for Ri to returned to soul society.
