Kaiyo rolled her head around dramatically; jerking her neck forwards with a disgusted look when she finished. She stared at the man, she knew he wouldn't change her order; aside from anything else he didn't have the power to do so. 'Seriously?!' she moaned; slamming her left hand down on her desk as she rose to her feet. Sheets of paper sliced through the air from the force she'd hit the desk with: she had to be careful, she went through desks like nobody's business. The tension in her shoulders relaxed when the man visibly flinches backwards. He already seemed too nervous to be telling her this. He stammered a response as he shuffled back forwards a pace. 'I, er-I...I'm afraid it c-can't be changed Taichou'. There was absolutely no resolve in his eyes, but his hand shook as he held out the file to the girl. Sighing heavily, Kaiyo pushed off her left hand and leapt fluidly over her desk. Short and agile like a cat, and speed wasn't even her speciality. She could smell the fear on the guy as she stepping in and took the file from him. He was tall, a good foot and a half taller than the Captain at any rate. She thumbed through the file in annoyance. What the hell kind of problem seriously required the immediate attention of the 11th Division Captain. Had Sereitei really been in such a bad state during her absence?

Kaiyo wasn't really checking the details of the mission, she could figure out the basics, she was on the look out for who's signed her off on it. The back page, at the very bottom, she huffed in annoyance, snapping shut the folder as she stepped in closer to sweating official. 'Right! You can tell the Central 46 that if they think they can just order me around to clean up their mess they can think again!' The poor guy looked as if he was about to shit himself. At the back of her mind, Kaiyo knew it wasn't even remotely his fault, but she didn't like it. She dropped her hand, turning away from him as she flung the folder on to her desk. 'Honestly, people bring you back from death one time and you owe them forever...' She dragged her cold palm down the side of her cheek, thinking for a moment before she looked back up to her messenger. 'This once, i'll do it, but I'll need you to arrange a meeting with them for me' Her words were cold and stern as she spoke and the man nodded obediently. He bowed low before flash stepping out of there.

Her small frame sank in to her chair. She lolled her head backwards with a sigh, allowing her annoyance to wash away before shuffling forwards on the edge of her chair to read over the mission. They'd even given her a picture. Rogue Shinigami causing trouble in the real world; caught or killed. Simple enough, her fingers drummed along the desk as she read the rest of the information. The central 46 were thorough at least. Kaiyo shut the file, deeming the rest irrelevant. She knew he was from the 10th squad, relatively high-ranking, went rogue after his partner died and had already killed shinigami sent after him. She turned to the coat stand in the corner of her office; smiling to herself as the sun lit up her white haori. She took a step towards it before pausing, glancing back to the folder and ripping out the first sheet again. 'What the hell!' She'd been assigned a partner for the mission. She growled in annoyance, tearing down her haori as she slid it over her shoulders. She tugged at the lapel of her haori, pulling it back at he left hip to tuck it loosely behind her Zanpakuto. Looks like she was to meet her new mission buddy at the Senkai gate; she just hoped they weren't annoying.

She scrambled around her desk in a last minute panic to apply some lip balm; the real world was usually cold this time of year and she didn't want chapped lips. She pursed her lips together before exhaling steadily. 'Fun time ahoy!' she cheered to herself, flash stepping off to wait at the nearest Senkai gate.

The huddle of people waited patiently at the gate. A collection of oddly shaped figures with equally strange modifications. All of them adorned in white lab coats broadcasting their occupation; scientist. They were called here for a reason. Not often does one see the brilliant, although twisted, minds that run the Research Bureau this far from within it's safe walls. The last such outing had ended with a lost of personnel. Something that many were willing to risk in the name of their endless thirst for knowledge and obnoxious curiosity. Yes, they would gladly give life and or limbs to accomplish their goals. Some had done just that. Looking at the mutated and modified bodies was enough proof of that. Some had mechanical limbs where a normal one had once been. Feet and legs replaced by tank treads. Another had added a third eye upon his brow, while yet another had the gall to give himself another mouth. At first Arawn had been disgusted by the discolored skin, the strange smells, and rather disturbing eating habits, but now he was more than accustomed to such things. More over he was often seen as the odd ball since he lacked those very same abnormalities. Truth was Arawn was less then fond of doctors unless in a healing capacity. He rather not take up any unwarranted surgeries. He rather build tools to use than have them permanently grafted to his skull. His hand lingered to the pouch located on the small of his back. The items remained secure within. He was a scientist not a guinea pig. He'd not experiment upon himself even if he was sure of it's success.

That all was brushed to the side as the current matter returned to the forefront. All the other men there were putting the finishing touches on the small laptop like device. In his hand was a stack of papers outlining the machine's operation. Almost like a computer it had a keyboard and touch screen function. The device itself was part of the sensor array that the 12th squad had set up many months ago. It's purpose was to assist in the hunting of hollows, but they were attempting to reformulating it to tracking down the rogue shinigami. They hoped it would be an effective way to assist the captain in her efforts. The problem was they were unsure that she would be able to work the delicate device. And should a fight occur they doubted she would prioritize it's safety. Arawn looked at the operational manual and sighed. Well over twenty-seven pages, front and back, on such a tiny contraption. In the division's infinite wisdom they had decided to have one of there number accompany her. Unfortunately Arawn wasn't present during the proceedings of the department heads. Something he didn't know he was also part of. So his department was given the honor. Equally fitting that such a duty would fall upon said head of the aforementioned department.
"This is why I hate being in charge." Arawn groaned. He flipped to the next page trying to commit the contents to memory. Already had he spent the last three night studying it. This last minute cram session was to avoid embarrassing himself when the captain arrived. "Captain?" he muttered. Now that he thought about, they hadn't told him who he was accompanying.

Kaiyo appeared in a flash, skidding her landing slightly as the concrete beneath her feet cracked apart. Haori fluttering the vortex of air her shunpo had created; she looked quite dramatic. Brushing down her uniform, she stood up straight to get a better look at the bustling crowd now just metres from where she stood. They turned to face her and she finally got a look at them. 'Hey!-Ohhh' Her heart sank with her expression. A small laugh of desperation escaped from her mouth as the lab-coated weirdo's took their turn to bow. Her vibrant blue eyes flickered from one being to another as her brow furrowed. She swore silently she would kill the central 46 for this. With a face not dissimilar to that of a petulant child, she stepped forwards. Her heard shook slightly as she looked more intently at the clearly altered souls, trying to work out which one would be her mission partner. Her eyes rested on one shinigami in particular. She thanked her stars he wasn't the one with three eyes.

There was a visible tension along her arms as her muscles aligned higher in her skin; slowly relaxing as her left hand rested impatiently on the guard of her Zanpakuto. They weren't speaking, they just looked dumb-founded. 'Right...' She began, unable to help her attention being drawn to the stupid book thing her assumed partner was holding. She squinted towards the item, straightening her spine as she gestured towards the device. 'Seriously if you guys have tests to run can't they wait until we-' Her voice trailed off as the penny slowly dropped. Rage flash across her face as her reiatsu spike slightly. 'If you expect me to look after a sodding....thing, like that then you're wrong'. She turned away from the crowd of bionic's, dropping her head down in defeat. Sweeping her hair back in to place she dragged her palm down her face as she turned back to them. 'Go on then...Explain' she snarled.

All eyes were locked on the captain. Arawn for one was abit startled when she had appeared. They did arrive early to work on the tracking system and work out any possible kinks. Of course they had lost track of time in their tinkering and forgotten that she was on the way. He didn't wear a watch so he could only assume it was the appointed time or the Captain was ready to leave. The expression on her face as she saw them spoke volumes. It looked like someone had fed her a lemon. Arawn smiled inwardly the 12th division had that effect on people. A valid response at that. The man with three eyes was the first to speak.
"Madam Captain." he said as the walked forward. The lanky man gave a bow. His short brown hair fell into the eye upon his forehead. Swiftly he brushed the hair back as he stood back up. "Sorry for the wait, just putting on the finishing touches." The other scientist went back to their work. All of them had taken a small step back as the woman released her spiritual pressure. They were more than happy, as well as relieved, to let the three eyed man to do all the talking. "Worry not, Madam we won't have you tending to the item's safety. It was decided the task of apprehending this rogue would enough of a task." His third eye darted left then right, until it spied it's target. He took a few steps to the side and tugged on Arawn's sleeve. The man only stood a half inch shorter than the red haired man "This gentleman will be accompanying you in a purely supportive role." Arawn gave a short bow to the Captain. "The device itself will assist in tracking the target down. If our calculations are correct we can narrow the search area to within a half square mile." The other scientist nodded vigorously in agreement.

Arawn merely shrugged and went back to studying the paper manual. Like the man had said he'd be sure to keep out of the young girl's way. His eyes had lingered on the Captain for a moment. He had the feeling he'd met her before. Sadly he wasn't sure if he truly had or merely thought he had. None the less he wondered why they were sending the Captain in the first place. Something like catching a rogue was well below her station. From what he heard the 12th Division had performed some favor for Captain of late. His own personal business had kept him far out of the loop. This was one of those times. Maybe if he had a hand in that incident he might be on better standing with the Captain. But the way the woman was snarling even that might not have made this experience any more pleasant.

Kaiyo winced at the word 'madam', it made her sound so old and boring. She looked away when the man's hair fell into his extra eye; blood and gore she could deal with, but it appeared third eyes were not so normal to her. A twinge of remorse tugged at her nerves as she tried to relax her demeanour; only realising then how visibly uncomfortable and nervous she'd made the nerdy-guys. Making a conscious effort to not look to appalled, the short girl nodded slightly to the lanky man as he tried to explain the doo-hicky to her. Her eye twitched with a micro-expression; she just didn't see the need for the devide. Perhaps for shinigami less skilled in sensing reiatu? Still, it appeared the choice was not hers.

Her eyebrows flicked up briefly when she saw Arawn and thought furrowed in to her brow. Kaiyo met a lot of people in her job, so it was fair to say a lot of people blurred in her memory, still, she recognised the man, or at the very least thought she did. Her hand swept through her blonde locks as she smiled. She could almost feel the tension dissipating around her. That usually happened though, especially for Kaiyo. Perhaps it was the reality against the rumours of her, or just the fact that she looked like a small girl but when Kaiyo smiled at people they usually relaxed a lot. It was lucky that she was usually so happy.

She stepped forwards toward Arawn, gingerly moving her hand out towards him with her signature grin. His face still seemed to be buried in a book, she could only assume he was such a high-achiever that he was always reading. 'Hi, I'm Kaiyo' she hummed lightly, unable to falter her battle instincts as her eyes swept up and down his body, as if sizing him up for a fight. Most people never noticed such glances, or at least never mentioned them.

She clapped her hands together, enjoying for a moment the wave of air created, that swayed against her hair. Striding through the crowd she glanced back to her supportive role guy. Gesturing for him to follow. Kaiyo figured she'd give their invention a try, but she was still a little unclear about it. Was she protecting their device, or their guy?

As the conversation continued Arawn turned back to the paperwork. All that he had tried to memorize had become jumbled. He knew what to do, but the facts suddenly got thrown into a blender without the top on. A groan escaped his lips and he shook his head disapprovingly. What were they thinking using such untested technology? Now they were giving him the privilege or perhaps displeasure of trying to make it work while with the captain. Fantastic. The Captain was gracious enough to introduce herself to him. Arawn tucked the papers under his arm and bowed. The gesture lowered his head barely below the captain's "Arawn Dan'Shir." he said as rose from bending at the waist. The other scientists has paused long enough to watch his introduction, but quickly turned back to their task. Indeed they were done, but the didn't want to leave anything to chance. A quick check of connections and battery were done as the woman sized up the red haired man. Arawn tried to take the scrutiny in stride with a rather impassive facial expression. The calm demeanor only hid the full on panic he felt. He was trying his best not to break out into a cold sweat. Of the other captains he had met this one was different. The fierce attitude then the sudden relaxed air was a bit perplexing.

Before he could put more thought into it, the laptop device was thrust into his hands. The other scientist had finished their adjustments. He was also handed a black long rectangle. It barely a foot long and less than an inch wide or thick. "An extra battery pack" The three eyed man commented as Arawn grabbed it and tucked it into his shirt. Once it was secure he took the paper and folded them until it was only a quarter of it's former size. He then took the small square and placed it into this pocket. Kaiyo was already waiting for him as he tucked the laptop under his arm. The others gave him a nod and one saluted him. Arawn shook his head and fell into line behind the captain.

Kaiyo turned away from the crowd; too many staring eyes for her liking. She sighed lightly, glancing across to Arawn as the Senkai gate began to open. Following her lingering eyes she turned to the man with an inquisitive look, 'How's your fighting?'. The question was simple enough and Kaiyo didn't meant it in as much of a stand-off manner than it probably sounded. In truth, the girl was just wondering if he'd be any extra hassle; especially if he was completely incompetent in battle. That wasn't to say Kaiyo hadn't done her usual sweep; in fact she could almost tell the exact moment this guy had caught her looking at him. He handled himself well though, she appreciated that. Plus, if his spiritual energy was anything to go by, he'd be fine, but she enjoyed peoples answers to such questions.

Within moment, they were hovering above that all too familiar town of Karakura. Instinctively, Kaiyo tugged across at her uniform, revealing the honey toned skin around her shoulder as she scoffed at the seal that appeared there. Damn thing, it ruined all her fun. She inhaled slowly through her nose, exhaling with a palpable enjoyment as she opened her eyes slowly. As much as she hadn't agreed with being sent on this blue-milk run, she decided to make the most of it. Plus she might even get a bit of a fight out of it. Usually, she'd pull at some spiritual threads to find her guy, but seeing as she had help, she thought she'd let the nerdy guy have his moment. Kaiyo twisted around in the air to Arawn with a coy smile, 'Okay nerd-man! Your chance to shine...Find our baddie!' she cheered in as cheesy a voice as she could manage. She'd always had such a way with words.

The others had bid their farewell and it was time to begin their journey. But right before their departure the captain saw fit to question his abilities. For the most part Arawn wasn't surprised. Maybe she thought he wasn't needed. If so Arawn agreed, but at the same time was reluctant to say so. Still it seemed a practical question on the surface. "Well enough." He replied glancing down at the weapon hanging from his hip. In a fight he was capable, but without knowing the opponent it was impossible for him know how well he could do. Of course when compared to the captain he would barely score less than average. "I guess" he finished, not wanting too sound to confident. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that. Anything a captain could not hand he would definitely be unable to handle. Still he would try his best regardless the situation. Even as he said it to himself he prayed that his statement would not come back to bite him in the end. He made a mental note to not say such ominous things before going on a mission. With that being said he stepped through the waiting portal.

Each time he used the gate he was amazed such an ability existed. To transverse not just realities, but distances in a matter of seconds. From one world to the next and then many miles away. No longer in Seireitei, but high up in the air above a human city. His awe would have to wait as the Kaiyo now asked him to earn his keep. Nerd man indeed. He did his best to mask the displeasure in being called thus. But of course to her he probably was the poster child for "Nerd". To him someone like Bryce owned such a title. Not wanting to annoy her he opened the laptop and pressed the button. The machine hummed to life as the system began to boot up. The screen remained black for several seconds before flickering to the color blue. Waves of text danced and moved across the screen as the program initiated itself. From what Arawn remembered from his reading the machine was an advanced form of scanner similar to the ones employed in the phones shinigami used. In addition it used the human world satellites increase it's accuracy. In a way it utilized both Soul Society and the Earth to perform a more exact scan. At the moment the machine was accessing it's own tech and receiving information from Seireitei. Next it would take that information and cross reference it with input from the various radio towers and satellites. The text on the screen vanished and a map of the world took it's place. This computerized globe started to spin as more data flowed into the device. Arawn could feel the vibrations as the CPU and processors did their work. The heat coming off the small laptop was on par with a space heater. On the screen the globe shifted to focus on the country of Japan. Seconds later the screen was blank. For a second Arawn thought the machine had shorted out. Holding it up with his left hand he typed in commands with this right. The machine responded. The screen was no longer blank, but had several red dots all over it.

For several moments Arawn continued to type furiously, but the screen did not change in the slightest. The frustration wad starting to show on his face until he eyes widened. Wordlessly he slapped the palm of his hand into his forehead. He gave a very loud groan and shook his head slowly.
"It would seem the scan is complete." he said as he faced the captain. "But....." For a minute his mouth opened and closed as he tried to find the right words to explain what, if anything, was wrong. "They failed to load the system with region's topography." He said flatly. Not only that, but they had failed to input a proper reiryoku filtering system. At the moment all the red dots were high spiritual signals. But it was impossible to see what signal was coming from where as well as which dot were in fact them. There were at least twenty red dots and no method of knowing which direction to go to reach them. Despite the failure the machine had in fact detected beings within the designated power range. Holding the laptop aloft Arawn began typing vigorously. Maybe he could download the maps and then rerun the search.
