Learning as much as he can

Masataka walked into the large open library in the Bount Mansion. It was filled with row upon row of books. They ranged from really old dusty leather-bound books to the quite modern new looking paperback books. This library was not organised like a public library, but rather the books were simply ordered alphabetically by the title of the book.

Some of these books seemed to be more like journals of Bounts who have written information on certain subjects that normal books would not have like Bount society, hollows, shinigami, Quincy and even on superhumans. There were also normal human books ranging from fiction to nuclear physics.

But he was interested in learning more about Bount dolls, as all he knew was that they are a part of the Bount, and that their power is dependent on the Bount. But he wanted to learn more about them, so that he could better understand his doll and thus unlock her true powers along with his. So he started looking in the B section for a book about Bount Dolls.

Eventually after 10 minutes of searing the B section, he finally found a book whose title was just what he was looking for. Bount Dolls- All A Bount Needs To Know About Their Doll. Thus he picked up the book and went to sit down on a table to read. He opened the book and then started to read it.

“A Bount’s doll is a part of their soul and thus all Bounts are capable of possessing one, even though many don’t. A doll has its own personality and is totally self sufficient and requires that a Bount has sufficient power in order to control it. If one doesn’t have the power to control their, then their doll will go berserk and probably kill their master.

To gain a doll, a Bount must summon it through a ritual. This ritual is a guarded secret and thus is only told to those who are ready to summon a doll, thus how to perform the ritual is not covered in here. But the ritual does include the physical components of a human body and a chant is chanted.

When first summoned, a Bount’s doll is small and low in power, but it grows as the Bount’s power grows as the doll is a part of the Bount and the Bount is a part of the doll. The doll can be sealed when unneeded and it usually takes the form of something related to its powers. The doll is usually released when needed and resealed when its purpose has been fulfilled.

All Bount dolls are unique and have many different abilities. As the Bount’s and doll’s power grow, new abilities can be learned and used by the doll. Also the doll may also change appearance as its power grows and can switch between these different appearances as needed.

The dolls are very hardy in battle and very difficult to kill or injure. Depending on the element of the doll and its individual abilities, some forms of attack may prove ineffective or harmless to the dolls. And many have the ability to reform after they are cut open, to a certain extent. If the doll gets injured too badly, then it will simply revert back to its sealed form and then after just a short time, will be healed and able to be summoned back at full strength. But if a doll gets killed, which is possible, and then the Bount who the doll is part of will also die, turning into dust.

Now if the Bount who owns the doll get injured or weakened badly enough, then the doll may go berserk and will probably kill the owner if it goes berserk. This is not guaranteed though, as if the bond of a doll is great enough, transgressing that which is merely master and slave, may avoid going berserk and still remain under control of the Bount.

Also some bounts have the ability to turn into the form of a weapon, but many do not have this ability. Their abilities are usually tied to some sort of element. By element, one does not mean traditional elements like, fire, earth, water, air etc, but also things like light, shadows gravity, metal, plants and many other types as well.

Remember that a Bount’s ability to control a doll depends on both your power and your relationship with your doll. So it is advised to treat your doll with the respect that it deserves and not to mistreat it. Also you should constantly train in order to gain more power and thus be able to control your doll better.

A doll is a Bount’s best friend and only true partner. Remember that well and a Bount should have no problems.”

After he had finished reading reading it, it brought back the memory of when he had summoned his doll. While some of the information he had read he already knew, there was other things that he discovered that he hadn’t known previously. Now next, he thought, that he would look up information on the enemies of the bount, so then he would know what the abilities of his enemies were to best prepare to fight them when the time comes.

Masataka took the book that he had finished reading and put it back where he found it. Then he started to search the shelves for a good book to learn about the shinigami. Generally in the past he had just avoided them, as he thought it was too much effort to try to eat their souls and that targeting normal humans would be more effective.

After half an hour of searching, he finally found a book which he thought was exactly what he was looking for in order to learn about the shinigami as opponents. The book was called The Ways Of Fighting- Shinigami Edition.

So he went back to the table, opened the book and started reading. “Shinigami have many different ways of fighting and will differ greatly from individual to individual. But the shinigami are said to have 4 main aspects of fighting which most of them know at least a little of each and usually very proficient in at 1 or two of these.

The four main aspects of how a shinigami fighting are swordsmanship, hand to hand combat, agility and demon arts. The most used form of combat by shinigami would be swordsmanship and the least common seems to be hand to hand combat. The first one of these which will be talked about will be swordsmanship.

Every shinigami has a special weapon called a zanpakuto which is the shinigami equivalent of a Bount’s doll. But the zanpakuto has a few differences from a Bount’s doll however. They are usually in the form of a katana, wakizash or a nodachi but can be in the form of something else. They have their own spirit power which is similar to the shinigami’s but slightly different. They are not self sufficient like a doll and can’t externally communicate or move by themselves, and without the shinigami are harmless. Also they seem to be able to fix them somehow if they get damaged or broken. Also they each have their own individual name.

Now there are many different types of zanpakuto. When they are in the usual form, they are sealed and contain no special attack qualities. During battle the zanpakuto can transform up to 2 times depending on the level of the shinigami. The first transformation usually requires the saying of the zanpakuto’s name. This form of the zanpakuto differs greatly from user to users and each one has at least special ability that differs greatly from user to user. There is also a second transformation which is called bankai. This is a very advanced technique and very few shinigami are able to do this, and the ability to do this indicates that they are quite strong. This transformation is usually very large and grand and may even alter their clothing. Their ability/abilities are very powerful and comparable to the strongest abilities of a Bount’s Doll.

Hand to hand combat is not very commonly used by the shinigami and seems to be a mixture of different martial arts styles. But users of this style should not be underestimated and can easily match the level of shinigami using zanpakuto. They are specially trained in order to take on opponents with weapons, but since most shinigami prefer the use of their zanpakuto, it is not likely to come across these shinigami.

Agility is the shinigami art of moving extremely quickly. The basis of this comes from what they call the flash step. This move allows shinigami to move at a speed which is too fast for a normal human to see. This technique is quite commonly used along with swordsmanship or hand to hand combat.

Demon arts are a form of magic that shinigami use. The two main types of spells that are used for fighting are binding spells and destructive spells. Each one is assigned a number, and the higher the number, the more powerful and harder to cast the spell is. The binding spells are defensive in nature and the destructive ones are offensive in nature. They can be cast either using just the name or by using the incantation. Using the incantation increases its power, but takes a lot of time to be cast and thus in single battles using it without the chant is more likely to be used.”

He closed the book and then placed it back where it belonged. He thought, so that is the basics of the way shinigami fight. Well next I think I will look at how the hollows fight.
