The Encompassing Ambition

It had been awhile since Kaito had actually taken the time to communicate with his zanpakutou, but the time had come when he felt that he was as strong as he was going to become without the strength of his blade and he knew enough that without the powers of his blade he wouldn't be able to achieve his goal. "How annoying..." he said as he walked through the sakura blooms that floated around the area of the Kuchiki household; in truth it hadn't been his idea to work with his zanpakutou rather he had heard about the idea from Kaiyo, the 11th squad lieutenant. He always had thought that it would be easier to simply handle situations without having to release that dangerous power, but since he had endured a certain incident he knew that would not be the case for much longer. "My, my...there really isn't any avoiding this whole situation is there?" he asked as he unsheathed his zanpakutou and stabbed the tip into the earth of fertile soil of the sakura field; the scent of flowers was thick in the air. Sighing, the young shinigami sat down on the soft earth and closed his eyes as he tried to sync his reiatsu with that of his zanpakutou, "The last time I spoke with him...he seemed pretty overwhelming...I wonder what it will be like this time around..." he wondered as he strengthened the connection with his blade.

Once again he appeared in the stained glass station where he had first met his zanpakutou, "Oi!...Á Bao A Qu! Come out so that I can have a word with you!" the young shinigami shouted through cupped hands as he tread very lightly upon the stained glass that remained suspended within the dark space. Although he felt no fear of anything within the realm any longer he still couldn't understand why his inner world was so dark or why his zanpakutou would choose to reside in such a place, but he shrugged such thoughts off so that he could try and sense the spirit's presence. Suddenly he heard a loud noise above him and suddenly a skull opened it mouth to reveal a malicious eye that glared at him with such intensity that Kaito could feel its reiatsu pouring out of the spirit just by looking at it. Rubbing his head Kaito simply looked away, "Look, things like that are meaningless...I'm stronger now so those tricks aren't going to work anymore, but I will need to gather more power from your end, deal?" he asked the zanpakutou spirit. "You seek the next level of my power then...it's been a while, Kaito-san...hasn't it?" the eye asked him in a deep ominous voice, but Kaito didn't respond to any of the spirit's question as he awaited to see what condition would have to be met for him to become stronger.

Suddenly reiatsu filled the space between himself and his zanpakutou spirit, the beast's ambition made its presence overwhelming, "I want nothing more than to have the power to encompass everything...to that end I will help you attain any power Kaito..." the spirit said as the glass underneath Kaito's feet shattered. The young shinigami fell into the darkness with the last image in his head being his zanpakutou's spirit before the darkness swallowed him whole and leaving him with no hope of seeing the future. Although Kaito couldn't see anything he knew that he wasn't dead, "Where am I?" he asked the darkness around him as he wobbled around and tentatively to see if he could perhaps find some landmarks to give him a sense of direction. "In order for you attain the next ability of shikai, you must be able to gain the ability to capture whatever is within your will with your own two hands and destroy it..." the deep voice of Á Bao A Qu boomed in the space that surrounded him. Without any warning a small feather floated in the air in front of him, but it didn't seem to fall down towards the ground rather it seemed to hang right in front of Kaito's face, "What's all this now...can't you just grant me the power?" the lazy shinigami asked hopefully only to hear a resounding, "No".

"In order to attain the next level of shikai you must answer a question which will test your will...then I will see if you are worthy..." the spirit bellowed which made Kaito cringe a bit since he wasn't much for tests and things of that nature especially when it came to important decisions. "If I asked you to destroy the feather before with your power, would you be willing to do so in order to attain the next level of power?" the zanpakuto asked the young shinigami who blinked in surprise at the nature of the question. "Are you trying to trick me? Of course I wouldn't crush that feather if you asked me to...even if you said it was for the sake of obtaining the next level of power..." he answered earnestly and without hesitation from the darkness that enveloped him. "Crushing the feather isn't within my will...it isn't part of my ambition so why would I want to destroy something with wanton effort?" Kaito continued on with his explanation in the hopes that his answer would grant him the power that he had been looking for. Silence filled the space making it lonelier than it had been in the dark before, Kaito scratched his elbow as he once again reached out in the darkness trying to find his bearings, but he made certain not to touch the feather in any way.

After waiting several moments in the dark, the booming voice that he had been waiting for finally spoke, "You have proven yourself worthy of the second ability" Á Bao A Qu said with a sense of superiority and pride, but Kaito couldn't tell where it was coming from. "Tch...whatever man...just get me out of this darkness...I hate the idea of spending eternity here with just a feather floating in front of me..." he muttered to the spirit as he tried to blow the pure white feather away from his body. With a start Kaito's eyes snapped open as he realized that he was back in Soul Society sitting in front of his blade, "Geez...you troublesome spirit...you're ambitious and I don't even know how that's going to affect me from here on out..." he said as he rubbed behind his ear. He chuckled a little as he drew his zanpakutou from the ground and pointed the tip of the zanpakutou at a single sakura petal, "Gokuin..." he calmly commanded causing a spherical bubble of reiatsu to form around the sakura petal holding it in place in the air. Once the petal was completely enveloped in the bubble made of reiatsu the young shinigami sheathed his blade as he whispered, "Heki" causing the bubble to detonate from the inside out, completely disintergrating the sakura leaf; the power to trap all within one's will and destroy it.


Second Shikai ability:

Awa No Yokuatsu (Suppression of the Bubble): Kaito points the tip of his zanpakutou at a target which can be at any range. This target is then enveloped within a bubble of reiatsu, but the opponent can only be enveloped under the command "Gokuin (seal)". Once the target has been trapped inside the bubble, Kaito can move the bubble around at will with the wave of his zanpakutou in any direction at the cost of a small sum of reiatsu. Lastly on the command "Heki" the bubble detonates from the inside out creating an explosion that is reflected inward toward the target based upon how much more spirit power Kaito has than his opponent. If the opponent has less than 35% of Kaito's spirit power then this move is an instant K.O for the person and they run the risk of being killed by the attack. The limit of how many targets can be entrapped in this technique is equal to Kaito's spirit power divided by 30. He can contain all targets within respective bubbles for three posts and can only hold one target in one bubble.

Is this bubble an auto-hit skill? Is there any chance that someone could evade the bubble before it enveloped them? That's the only question I have. Everything else is well thought out.

Haha well I was trying to leave room for people to be creative, but I suppose I should explain. The attack can be stopped easily if Kaito can't say the words and further more the attack is directed where the blade is pointed so if a person had the ability like Utsusemi which I'm gonna start writing the post for, then they would be able to avoid it. I'm sure there are other ways around those two rules...also if they have more spirit power than Kaito it wouldn't hold them for any length of time.
