| The white sands proved little comfort when his form impacted against them. Such was the blow, that his body even slid for a few seconds before he righted himself upon the ground that mad up the majority of Hueco Mundo. Like so many times recently, this had started off with a mistake on his part again, having failed to notice the pressure of the colossal hollow. It seemed that recently such encounters here in the desert were becoming more and more common, and the thought of whether the whole world was changing but himself briefly flickered in the dark depths of his mind. The thought was soon forgotten though as one of the large fists of the hollow smashed down where he had been, a nimble escape that allowed for his continued existence.
The fact that Medrus was facing a hollow of size and power he had never seen before was one thing, but it had been long since his time to the human world, and was not at his prime, something that an encounter like this needed for a survival chance. Still, he had only been hit once by this great behemoth and it had hurt him so, meaning that he could not afford another straight hit, let alone a second or third. Even when being hunted before, the hollow had never felt his life being threatened as much as it was now.
He shot to the side as the second fist came hurtling towards him, missing the impact of the beast's attack, but being caught up in the shower of sand that was thrown up by the impact. The colossal hollow was of such size, that his fist had such range. It did not help that its form had his arms being three times the length of his legs, both almost dragging as it moved. So when it raised both appendages at the same time, clasped together, the hollow knew he had to move fast, and with all he could shot forward towards the other hollow, and flew through the gap in its legs as its fists came down with such power it caused a strong wind to shoot outwards. Such a hit would have ended him, there and then if he had taken it.
As the colossal hollow turned and spied Medrus, the smaller hollow stood there for a few moments. He had spend so many decades easily getting by in this desert world, having proven himself to be stronger than many of the hollows he encountered he had allowed himself to get used to those circumstances. Yet what these last few encounters, and what this one here crystallised, was that he needed to evolve, to change, to progress. He did not want to die, he had to get stronger, he had to find a way to once again rise above those around him like he had done all those years ago. This vital lesson had become lost on him, and he needed to address it once more, or his time would be swiftly over.
His concentration instantly returned to the huge hollow seemed to position his arms apart again, though held them both back, it looked like he was ready to sent two powerful attacks that would too hard to run from. Instead Medrus concentrated on his spirit power, gathering as much as he could, almost bottling it deep inside him. It would seem to the other hollow that his reiatsu flared at this, but the beast unleashed his attack, both fists darting forward at such speeds and power.
Medrus focussed his mind as much as he could, and unleashed the power he had quickly stored and jumped just as the other's first made contact with where he had been. The monster was fast, but his action of focussing his spirit power for that exact moment had given him the advantage over his attacker.
Landing a bit further back from where he had been, he noticed the colossal hollow turn to look at him, the slight movements showing it did not expect to see him again, well at least not in one piece. This was what Medrus had forgot for so long, he needed to push himself, he needed to progress otherwise like all weaker hollows, he would end up dead.

| The fight for survival was a tough thing for a hollow. It was what their entire existence revolves around, and it is not helped by so many factors which seem hell bent on finishing them off. This was what this fight with the large hollow was turning into for Medrus, he felt deep within the dark depths of his mind that only sheer stubbornness, an extreme will to exist could be of any help to him here. Despite having avoided a few more attacks from the beast, it was clear that he needed to draw out everything.
It was the red stain. The white sand around him contrasted with the crimson colour of his blood. For the last attack had clipped him, but it had injured him none the less, such was the strength of the large hollow. Medrus did not know where the cut was, his mind was too focussed on the beast as it came around again. Despite a feint throbbing from somewhere low on him, he put all his power into dodging this attack of the hollow's. It was thrown at him expecting the injury it had caused to have slowed him. It did not.
Still, when he had slid on the sands the dull pain had flared up. In an odd way this had had the most settling effect on the hollow since this had all begun. The injury had added an edge, the pain sharpened his mind, it was a sign that he could cease to be any moment. Everything was on the line for him.
Shooting forward, Medrus flew across the sands closer to the hollow, the pain driving him, and dived into the sands in front of it, his form twisted as he did so. The effect was a shower of sand that was thrown high towards the large hollow, its head rearing back, an annoyed growl from its throat. It shook its head, the sand having reached his face, enough to cause it annoyance.
Medrus slid back, his eyes still on the beast's form. It was a minimal movement, but the action previously had cost him more than it would have normally. This fight had tired him down, and injured him. Now he was having to give everything, even if it meant his attacks were causing yet more pain, or injuring him even more by not caring of what effects these might have on his injury. Still, at the back of his mind, it was better to have that than the deathly alternative. This struggle would go on, and it was a struggle, for Medrus could not hold back, and would do anything to live past this.

| White grains of sand sprayed over the hollow as he pushed himself closer to the ground. He had avoided the latest attack by the other hollow, and from the impact it made it seemed one of the strongest yet. As the sand began to fall onto the desert floor, Medrus slid quickly from his position towards the base of the hollow. Seeing the smaller hollow head straight for him, the colossal hollow merely tried to kick at him with one of its large feet. Medrus merely twisted his frame as it came at him, and spun himself and used the movement to deliver a cutting attack across the foot of the large hollow, causing a deep cut from one side of the appendage to the other.
Ending his push to just behind the hollow, Medrus took a second to stop. He was feeling tired now, even in his mind he knew he had now gone beyond his normal limit. In fact, in the depths of his mind he idly wondered if he had ever pushed himself this far. Despite how far he was pushing his very being there was no real fatigue, not that that would change. He was merely to focussed on living and surviving this encounter.
As the hollow turned, he pushed himself from his prone position, and jumped towards the larger hollow, causing another cut, this time across its torso, as he almost flew by. He was using everything, pushing himself beyond the limit. The beast merely swung by and nearly clipped him again as he landed. If this hollow wanted him dead then he was going to make sure that he was fighting until he was reduced to nothing. To merely lay there an accept fate was something he would not allow, not here. If the chances of him not surviving were this great then there was nothing wrong in pushing himself far beyond the limit, just to gain that little more power, that little more life.
The hollow turned its head down and spat three globs of bright green liquid at him, Medrus avoiding all but the last. His form was pushed back into the sands. The liquid had hit him with some force, as if it was a blow from a fist or the like. The colossal hollow all but jumped on his prone form, and Medrus then found that his substance seemed so heavy that it cut heavily into his agility. Bringing out what reserves of power he could he tried to avoid the hollow, this fight getting even more desperate for Medrus.
