| Ezrachek slid the door to his new barracks room aside as he walked inside. It wasn't too similar to his previous one, with a smaller dresser to make room for a table. Ezrachek assumed this table was for any sort of scientific research that the shinigami wished to do in private. He decided to do some research on his own. He quickly placed his bags on the floor and left the room, sliding the door shut behind him. He quickly strode across the walkway towards the Academy Library. He opened the doors and quickly rushed to the chemisty section of the library. He spent hours scattering through numerous books until he found the exact chemical that would work for him. He replaced the book and grabbed another. One after the other, he quickly gathered information as he soaked it all in. After a few hours, he left the library and went to the chemical supply that was at the squad 12's station. He quickly grabbed a few packages of Tungsten and a few slips of photoflash paper. He then moved to the heavier duty section. He grabbed an entire 1 pound back of Mercury Fulminate. He quickly left the supply inventory and returned to his room. He safely placed the items in the top drawer of his dresser. He then quickly left for the store. He grabbed a Cylindrical tube with a cap, a drill, a key ring, a wire, a metal amp plug, an electronic weight scale, a lighter, hot glue along with the hot glue gun, some ducktape, a thin wire and some smaller tubes. He returned to his desk and began working on it silently. the dim lit room didn't help him in his goal of accomplishing this quickly, however, he made do. The next few hours went on for what felt like forever. He drilled a small hole in the cap of the large tube, sliding the wire through the hole. He then cut the wiring from the amp plug so that just the metal rod was left. He glued one end of the wiring to the amp plug and tied the other end around the key ring. He took apart the electronic weight scale and grabbed the pressure plate device and placed it at the bottom with the pressure sensitive portion facing the bottom of the grenade. He then attached the wiring to four locking mechanisms that were attached to some 'loaded' springs. He placed them along the sides, two on each side. He then placed the smaller tubes around the springs and glued them to the walls of the larger tube. Ezrachek then ripped apart the lighters shell, grabbing the button, ignition wiring, and the ignition house (where the fire comes from) He placed the group of mechanisms on top of the pressure plate. He positioned it so that the the amp plug was just above the button. He pushed the plug down to test it as the fire jumped from the metal housing. Ezrachek wiped his forehead as sweat began rolling down it like an avalanche. He then placed the strip of Tungsten on top of the Photoflash paper and glued them together. With this, he lit the paper to see the reaction. The Tungsten caused the intensity of the flash to blind Ezrachek momuntarily. He did notice, however, before he was blinded that the paper and Tungsten still burned at the same quick pace of the paper. Ezrachek fell back from his chair, rolling on the ground as he grabbed at his eye that was not covered by the eye patch. After a few short moments, Ezrachek rose to his feet, slowly gaining the ability to see again. He moved back to the table, replacing his seat back where it previously was before being shoved backwards in his flail. He then glued the paper to the wall of the large tube so that when the lighter was lit, the paper would be ignited. Ezrachek replaced the cap and sealed it. Tugging on the ring softly to make sure that it was tight. He leaned back and smiled at his creation. He had just made his very first invention on his first day as a Squad 12 member. He looked at the grenade and frowned. He had to test it still. - Concept "art" for the grenade":
Note!: The words on the line from top to bottom, left to right, read as follows. "Pin, Photoflash paper infused w/ Tungsten, Housing Tube, Housing Tube, Detonator, Flame, Mercury Fulminate, Mercury Fulminate, Lighter." Also, The shaded bottom of the grenade is the pressure plate. I forgot to label that... | |

| Ezrachek grabbed the grenade and placed a shard of Mercury Fulminate on each loaded spring. He carefully handled the grenade as he walked slowly to the sparring grounds. He found, to his delight, that it was empty as a class had just recently finished up with the area. He happily walked into center and pulled the pin, counting to two before tossing the grenade far towards a wodden dummy. The grenade was designed in a way so that it would be bottom heavy, ensuring that the bottom would always make contact first. The grenade's flash went off just before colliding with the ground. Ezrachek turned his head away from the flash and quickly turned back to hear the clicks of the locks releasing. He watched as the crystalline shards of Mercury Fulminate flung from the tubes of the grenade. They arched out over the dirt floor, landing with a thud before exploding. Ezrachek was knocked unsteady by the simultaneous explosions as he stepped backwards to regain balance. He noticed that the Mercury Fulminate pieces created a square perimeter around the target that was 10 feet in any direction. He smiled a wicked grin as he loved his creation. The only issue he could see with it was that he only had one shell, and so he could only use it once iffectively in battle. He hoped, and planned on that being all that he needed. He grabbed the tube grenade shell and walked back to his dorm. He set it on the table along with the rest of the chemicals and materials. He then laid his head on the table as it was late. He passed out thinking of all the battles that he had been in that this grenade could have saved him in. One particular battle came to mind. The battle in Sanuga City. Ezrachek shook it from his mind as he drifted into the realm of unconscious. | |
