Looking for a spark (solo)

Another issue was nagging at Stratus as he sat. While he had just developed a new method to create crystals there was another problem. His slime had first manifested when he was in water. Later he came to notice that in such liquids his slime useless. In one fight with a shinigami during the rain, he couldn't use the sticky green substance at all. The other shortcoming was that it was extremely flammable. Which was something that had come as a surprise at the worst possible moment. Once in a fight against another hollow the damnable slime had nearly killed him in the resulting blaze. And later in a fight with a shinigami she had pierced his body with a fiery sword and burned him from the inside out. There was still a slight mark on his body where the blade had pierced him and the resulting fire. By shortening the delay between his crystal and slime was one way to prevent fire being used against him, it didn't really help that it was still a venerable weakness. He really couldn't do a thing about it. Picking was a possibility, but impractical. There was no way he could know if his opponent could use fire or not. Shinigami had access to various elements from the battles he had fought. As news spread they would no doubt change their tactics against him. Stratus wondered if he could just avoid using his slime completely. Entrapping his prey was one of his favorite tricks. Not only that, but using the slime to swing gave him added mobility. He grunted. This was indeed a problem. He couldn't just make the green slime inflammable. The best action he could take was avoiding keeping prolonged contact when fire was involved. Changing the slime into crystal did put out any fire caused.
"Damnit!" he growled and struck the rock beside him.

Useless in water and dangerous near fire. He didn't realize he had such a weakness. The more he thought about it he wondered. Was it really a weakness. When he had captured a shinigami the large man had used fire and set himself on fire. The fire weakness had actually worked for him. Was there a way for him to utilize that again? If he used alot of slime the use of fire would be hazardous to his opponent as well.
"Add alot of fuel and wait for the fire?" it seemed too reckless. It was an option, just not a safe one. From his hand he release some slime, the gelatinous liquid pooled on the ground. "All I need a is match." He picked two rocks from the ground and struck the together. There was a loud crack as they hit, but nothing more. Of course it wouldn't be that easy. He kept hitting them rocks, but got nothing more than sound. Stratus stopped mid strike and dropped the stones. Focusing his energy he release his slime. On his finger crystal formed. He snapped the newly gem covered fingers, the fingers chimed as they struck. But there was a small light from the impact. Lowering his hand to the slime he snapped again. The slime pool erupted into flames, black smoke rose from the fire.
"MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" The laughter from Stratus filled the caves and echoed into the depths.
