A much needed break (Junko)

"Say that again?" Arawn asked looking up from his meal. After the long work out he had quite an appetite.
"I said don't have to come to the mountain next week. You've progressed quite a bit, take the time to relax. Why don't you take a trip to the human world?" Sung spoke while sipping his cup of tea. Arawn was quite shocked. His most recent weeks had be filled with paperwork and these intense work outs. Now his instructor was telling him to take some time off.
"That sounds great, I will." Truth be told he hadn't been out of Soul Society in months. He would like to spend some more time in the human world. Before he could completely get his hopes up, Sung continued talking "Since you're going to the human world, there is something you can do for me." Arawn wanted to slap his face, he knew it was too good to be true.

The next week

It still felt awkward in his gigai, but he managed to move without looking out of place. Master Sung's errand proved to be simple enough. He had sent him to get some tea leaves. It seemed like an odd location to get tea from. The city didn't look all that impressive. Not a place to be know for it's tea. He felt uneasy. The security of being a shinigami in the living world granted him invisibility from the masses. There were too many people in the park for him to relax. People everywhere he looked. Arawn sighed, perhaps he was better off locking himself in his lab if he wanted to relax. The shuffled the money in his pocket. There was quite abit left over from the tea purchase. Sung had told him to use it as he saw fit. Maybe there was enough for a movie. He left the park and started to walk down the block.

Junko was stalking an interesting character. Stalking in the sense that a predator stalks her prey. Junko was mingling in crowds of the park, moving parallel to the red haired figure that had bought tea leaves, an odd purchase by itself, but not suspicious. Junko felt that she should have know the man from somewhere, perhaps in her time as a soul. But a pang of recongntion flowed through her as she saw the man, and she instictivly trailed him,

Junko was wearing black skinny jeans, with a white elastic tank top. Her hair was still bleached white, more of a grey really, and she wore a snow hat on her head, the same silvery grey as her hair. And her blue eyes pierce through the shoulder length hair, inadvertantly glancing over to the man occasionally, And her Converse Hightops were white, spotless, conspicuous.

As he left the park she increased her pace, hoping to catch him and talk to him.

He was lost. There was no denying that he wasn't anywhere close to the theater. The fact was he was sure he had passed one on the way to the tea shop. Silently he wished that Sung had given him a better map. But it had served it's purpose; it guided him to the tea shop. Now he was on his own. If he was a shinigami he could have leaped from the rooftops to find the place. Actually if he was a shinigami he could enter the theater for free. He instantly dispelled that thought, would feel guilty doing such a thing; plus he did want some popcorn. The wind picked up and Arawn pulled his black hoodie tighter. He would have no choice but to stop and ask for directions. The first person he approached, a middle aged man, turned away before he could even greet him. Well that was to be expected, he was a complete stranger. His second attempt was a woman walking her dog "Excuse me, but..." "Not interested." was her quick reply as she trotted off with her small animal in tow. "Did she think I was hitting on her?" It looked like things weren't going to go as planned. He looked around at the surrounding people, someone had to be of some help. Arawn moved on to the next person, but had no luck there either. "At this rate maybe I should just wander around looking."

To have someone approach him first was a relief for Arawn. He was starting to think he had broken some hidden rule and was being shunned. It was a pretty woman for that matter, he was almost happy to have her help him at the same time very embarrassed. What did she mean by keep it down? Rather ask, he took her up on her offer. "I'm looking for the movie theater. I could have sworn I saw one from before. " He tried not to sound completely lame, "If you could just point me in the right direction." Arawn felt a tickle in the back of his head, and brushed his hand through his hair absentmindedly. Perhaps she was trying to pick him up, he felt himself flush. He shook his head, he was getting ahead of himself. If anything she was doing it out of pity. He sighed aloud, after coming to this thought. Still he was grateful for whatever help she could provide.

Junko was abit frustrated, he was a shinigami, but he didn't understand why he didn't get the hint. He seemed abit embarrased. But junko decided that maintaining this guise as a human would work best. "Here, just follow me" Junko knew the nearest theater was just a block or two away, just in the other direction, She decided she needed to get him isolated for a moment, so turned into an alley making sure he followed her. As she was halfway down it, a man jumped out from behind a dumpster with a knife, Junko sidestepped and tripped him, and threw him into the wall oppisite her, his head hitting hard, bleeding starting from his head, She rumaged through his pockets and found what she was looking for, a cell phone, she dialed the emergency contact number and hurried the man along, "He will be fine, but we won't be if you keep your spiritual pressure up."

Perhaps she was trying to pick up a man, Arawn thought to himself as the woman forcefully led him. This wasn't such a bad day after all. That thought was shattered as he rounded the corner with her into the alley. The next thing he saw was her beating up a man. With ease she slammed him into the wall. He started to bleed profusely and collapsed to the ground. Once there she started to dig through his pockets. "My god she's a mugger." Arawn ran back around the corner he had come from. No wonder she had been so friendly, she was going to lure him into the alley to attack him. She had taken out the man to avoid having any witnesses. He had traveled some distance from the alley now. He needed to find the human authorities and get that man some help. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. "1 , 1 , 9." he spoke aloud while dialing the emergency number. "Hello, you've got to help me! I saw a woman injure some man in an alley." the voice on the other end calmly asked him where the alley was located. This was problematic, he didn't know the street names. He looked about for some street sign to tell him where he was. The street was nearly empty except for the occasional passing vehicle. He looked back down the street, no sign of the female. Arawn had half expected her to come after him, but she might have decided not to since he was in the open now. A bit of shame rose up in him for relying on the humans for protection. While he was sure he could defend himself normally, in a gigai was another story. Plus as a shinigami it was his job to Protect humans not hurt them. Even if they were violent against him.

Junko felt the presense before she saw it, the Shinigami had left, misconstruing her actions of self-defense. and that was the hollows prey, it jumped down from a 5 story building on the street, Junko swallowed a soul candy, Her armored form would seem odd to any passerby, such armor on a small woman, but no passerby could see her, and she could see the hollow.

Junko intercepted the hollow as it jumped down on the other shinigami. Junko pulled her blade as the shadow of the hollow overtook the shinigami, and Junko promptly sliced through its mask, she stood on air, reiatsu at her feet, where the hollow once was, but all there was not was a fragment of mask and black dust. Junko looked down at the red haired man, "You need to pay attention, its a dangerous world out here."

Suddenly a shadow appeared above him. He looked up just as it barely 5ft from coming down upon him. His voice caught in his throat. There was a metallic ring as the creature's mask was cleaved by a sword. As the monster's body dissipated he saw a figure clad in armor floating in the air. He breathed a sigh of relief. Although strangely dressed, the person was a shinigami. He was glad that while in a gigai he was still able to see spiritual being. But it was a shame His savior warning was true enough. He hung up the phone, cutting off the dispatcher talking in his ear. Capturing the mugger seemed such a minor detail at the moment.
"Yeah it's really dangerous, I almost got mugged just a moment ago." he shudders when he thinks about it. If he hadn't been using the phone to call the police his radar would have warned him of the coming danger. He had foolishly turned off the option to override his conversations. He fiddled with the controls. He looked at the radar. The area seemed clear enough. "Thanks for the save, I'll keep an eye out for any more hollow." He waved at the shinigami and started to walk down the road again. Now he didn't fill like going to the movies at all; he just wanted something tasty to eat.

Junko figured it out, that shinigami was unaware of spritual presenses. In essence he could not sense her, She shunpo'ed to her gigai, grabbed it, shunpo'ed back to the street, and reentered it.

Junko kept her spiritual energy low, not that it would make a difference, but now she sprinted after the Shinigami. Nearing him, she tapped his shoulder, "It really is dangerous out here, and you cannot sense spiritual presenses can you?"

So deep in thought Arawn was startled by the hand on his shoulder. He gave a yelp of surprise and spun around angry. Only to release a second yelp. It was the mugger! Arawn's heart was hammering in his chest, his eyes scanned the area. There wasn't anyone on the street. How was he going to get away from her this time. There was no one to assist him if she decided to do something. Why was he so unlucky? Quickly he reached into his pockets and pulled the money out.
"Here! This is all I have!" He tossed the money at her and raised his hands like he was at gunpoint. He had intentionally raised his voice in hopes someone would overhear him. He took several steps back from the blood stained woman. "I won't press charges, just take the money and go."

Junko, caught the money, and muttered, "Bakuto 1 Sai", Junko needed to bring his to his senses, importantly his hearing. Junko said to him, grabbing his shoulders with her arms, he was looking at her like she was covered in blood, but there was no such thing.

"You need to listen, I know that you are cannot sense spiritual pressure, you need to calm down though. I wouldn't just saved your life if i wanted to mug you" Junko dropped the kido, and gave him his money back, "Do you still want to go to the movies, and dont worry about the mugger in the alley, i called an ambulance for him."

OOC: Meant to say "blood thristy" and yet I typed "blood stained" Not gonna bother editing it.

Terror turned to surprise as the woman cast her spell on him. There was denying that it was a kido. Was she a shinigami too? But why would she mug someone? Caught he had not choice, but to submit to whatever she wanted anyway. A short explanation later he was free although confused.
"Wait so you didn't mug that guy? I saw you grab him and slam him into the wall when I reached the alley. After that I saw you digging through his pockets." He scratched his head. While he did believe she was a shinigami he wasn't certain he could trust her. She hadn't tried to do anything to him when she had his arms locked either. Still something about it all still troubled him. He was willing to let the matter drop for now. She offered to escort him to the movies again. "Actually I rather get something to eat at this point." The day had flow by, the sun hung lazily in the sky. "Do you know any places?"

Junko nodded as he spoke, the accusation of mugging someone was dishonorable, and she would never do such a thing, attacking anyone without their knowing they were in battle was worthy of commiting suicide over. "That guy in the alley was trying to mug me, i just defended myself, and as for going through his pockets, i needed to call an ambulance for him"

And as for his second request, she was honestly in the mood for some popcorn, and croseed her arms over her chest to see think about a multitude of places, but since he was a guest, she would ask this, since he needed the escort to prevent dying. "Umm what would you like to eat?" And right afterward look like she had a great idea!, "Oh im Junko Tenshi, 13th seat of Squad 11"

"Arawn Dan'Shir." he spoke giving a slight nod. Hearing her squad made him less comfortable. Squad 11 was know to the most violent of all the divisions. And that was putting it nicely. From what he heard the those in her squad enjoy fighting so much that when bored they fight themselves. "Well that would explain the armor." he muttered to himself. Someone good at fighting would be prepared to fight. "I think I've met some people in your squad I think his name was Shurinko or something." He recalled their fight with some humans, he didn't mention that part, as there were still some mysteries about that. It was then that his phone chirped; it was a warning signal. Reaching into his pocket he looked at the screen. There were five signals in the immediate area. Two of the signals were moving towards them while the other 3 were slowly advancing. Moving that fast must mean flying hollows, he thought. One was coming from 2 o'clock and the other from 6 o'clock. "Looks like the food will have to wait." He pulled out his soul candy and popped it into his mouth. He felt his body, his real body free itself from the gigai. It was like coming up for air after diving for so long. His body felt light and relaxed. "Please hide yourself." he said turning to the gigai, it nodded and dashed off. Looking back at the screen the two signals were still coming at them. Two of the others had stopped in close proximity to each other, and the final signal was still advancing. "We got company." Arawn said just as a bat looking creature cleared the building top. it gave a loud screech as it looked down at them.

Junko felt it just before she saw it, a flying hollow, the worst variety. It's reiatsu was weak, and it looked wounded, probably running. Junko had to think of a way to bring it down before it either charged or ran. So Junko said plainly, in a matter of fact tone, in the tone that is used to sentance one to death. "Hado 13 Killer Bee" the yellow bullets shot from her fingers, and she poured reiatsu into the techinque, and it created a rapid fire effect, Junko aimed for a sort of scatter shot with the kido, The sort that was unavoidable. By a flyer at least. Junko had no intention to get out of her Gigai, so she watched as the hollow was hit by 4 of teh 10 shots and fell out of the sky. Junko felt the other hollows in the area, and her intentions to not get out of her gigai vanished. She reached into her pocket and dispensed a soul candy to swallow.

She did so, and her armored form came out, "Stay Back" She said, searching for the other hollows, her hand on her zanpaktou.

Her words fell on deaf ears, Arawn had already jumped to the top of another building to intercept the other signal moving their way. He climbed the tall building quickly and once on the roof scanned the sky. The target was easy to spot it was a snake in the sky with three sets of feathery wings along it's length. It's head very much like a shark it looked like a mythical dragon . It zigged and zagged through the air as it flew overhead circling the block. He tried to figure a plan of attack. Even if he jumped he wouldn't reach that far into the sky. Since he couldn't reach it, he would have to bring it to him. As his reiatsu fill the air he pointed is left hand at the monster and drew his sword with the right. "Hado #3: Crimson strike!" The burst of red energy missed the head of the beast, but that was his aim. The beast bellowed in rage and dove at him. Before it could draw to close to him, he raised his hand a second time. "Bakudo #5: Senko!" A brilliant light shone from his hand, the creature roared again, turning it's head as it shut it's eyes. Arawn jumped to the side as the blinded beast dove straight past the building into ground below.There was a thunderous crash at it impacted with the hard asphalt. Wasting no time he jumped down from the building after it. The hollow's body was a mess, wings were broken, parts of it's flesh was cut from the now cracked street. It's howl was silenced as Arawn came down upon it's head with his blade the force of the blow had stunned it. Arawn knew he lacked strength so he had used the fall to increase his strike. It's body thrashed again as he pushed the blade through the rest of the mask and then pulled it out. Seconds later the body dissolved into nothingness. "Three left." he said looking at Junko then to his radar. But things had changed; the one of the signals close together had vanished. He could only guess that one had killed the other. "Make the two." He corrected himself.

Junko watched arawn jump away as she walked up to the wounded hollow, it snapped at her, biting her, but it's weakened attempt could not pierce her armor, she drew her sword, and decapitated it, its grip dissolvied into nothingness as it was sent to soul society.

Junko shunpo'ed to where she felt Arawn's spiritual pressure clashign with another hollows, just in time to be blinded by his Bakuto 5. She swore loudly, covering her eyes for a moment and closing them. She opened them a few seconds later, to see arawn finish his hollow. But Junko was furious, "HEY! WERE ON THE SAME TEAM!" She yelled, her voice clearly implyign the anger she was feeling, her reiatsu expanded, warming the armor and the area around her. She listened to what he had to say and came to the realization, "Hey, why don't I have one of those..." Before she grabbed around the neck and thrown backwards rushing upwards slightly and into a hard surface, she was being choked and her hands could not pry the firm grip of the rope-like appendage away. Junko saw her assailent though, it was a hollow that looked much like a crab, and the rope was a sort of cord that shot out from its claw.

The hard surface was another wall, part of an emergency stairwell, she was pinned against the wall between the grip of its large pincers, which threatened to crush her any second. It was big, as big as a house even, and the hollow's mask was covering its eyes.

Junko couldn't speak much, perhpas a croak or two, and she managed to get out a choked sound of, "Hado 4 Byakurai" And the white light shot out at the rope like extention, severing it, she could breath, but it induced the worst reaction. The pincers Crushed and threw her out into the street where arawn was before. She was not lucky enough to hit a window, she hit a brick wall, breaking it into bits before she fell away from it, bricks pummeling her body and head. The entire ordeal lasted ten seconds, but Junko was very hurt, a brick having hit her on the back of the head, and the crimson red of blood was already contrasting with her white hair, rolling down from the top of her head, down her forehead and off to the right of her eyes and rolling down to her chin.

Junko struggled to her feet, unarmed she looked up to see crab hollow where she was standing before, and over the edge of the building. Her zanpaktou. The tip of it glistening off the side, Junko stood shaken, but in total ready to fight, her armor protecting from exterior damage, but it was fairly battered, especially the back piece, and the abdomen area on the sides was crumpled inside, but it was loose there, and just looked painful. Junko stood, ready to fight, looking for arawn to lead.

The attack on Junko had taken him by surprise as well. Even though he knew the creature was coming, there was no way to know how it would attack. Why it had attacked Junko he had no idea. Perhaps it thought her the weaker of the two? He was thankful she was wearing armor as she was forced into the wall. Even as Junko managed to free herself Arawn's reiatsu flared.
"Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and tear out your own throat! Bakudo #10 Hōrin!” The rope of light whipped around the creature's other claw. He saw Junko stand up and wanted to prevent it using it's other tendril. While he was successful in closing it's claw he had not anticipated the monster's strength. With a tug it pulled him off his feet into the air. The creature waved it's pincher to and fro and Arawn with it. It tried to use it's other claw to attack him. Somehow he managed to fend the swiped off as he hung on for dear life. Arawn swung wildly at it's head, but it used it's arms to swing him away before he could do any harm. The crab hollow swung it's and sent him crashing into the ground. The pain rushed through him as the wind was knocked out of him. Arawn's sword dropped from his hand. It raised it claw again and yanked him back up before he could grab his weapon again. Once more it jerked it's claw down, but Arawn released his spell. He landed on the crab's back, the creature looked at the empty claw confused. Arawn released his reiatsu once more and stood atop the hollow. Baek-Ho - Mountain Thunder! He raised his fist and brought it crashing down upon the monster. The strike made a crack, it's legs to buckled, and then collapsed. The creature tossed it's head back sending him flying off.

Junko watched as Arawn used Horin, And Junko was about to do the same, when she broke out in coughing, she tasted the distinct tang of metal, the fit continued, the violent spasms reducing her to hands and knees. The spasms stopped and she spit, confirming her fears. The crimson beads of blood were on the white concrete sidewalk. She looked up, and Arawn was in a spot, flipped on the back of the hollow, without his zanpaktou.

Junko got to her feet, Shunpo'ing to the roof, she appeared in a crouch, reaching toward the ornate hilt, she grasped it, and as the head bucked back, Junko left her arm out stretched and did a one 180, to face the hollow, pivoting on 1 foot crouched, and bringing her arm around, still straightend, to reach the hollow. The creature's head was coming down, and Junko's blade sliced through it, the hollow slowly dissolving to reveal Arawn behind it. Junko smiled, a trickle of blood coming out of the left corner of her mouth. She felt lightheaded, but just allitle, She saw a shadow come over her, and she spun her arm extended, a long strike, but it never got through, as a foot grabbed her arm. At the elbow, and another at grasped at the back and brestplate of Junko, but the latter slipped away. A rush of winds on her face, and a firm grip of a bird foot, an eagle foot. It wrapped around her arm, the tug imediatly dislocating her right shoulder. Another rush of winds, flapping of wings, Lifted her airborne.

she was in inmeasurable pain, the screams of her own and her screamsas she was lifted airborne by the eagle like hollow were overridden by pain. The only thing that held her arm to her body was petite muscle tissue, she could feel it tearing, slowly, and Junko swung her left arm to grab the talon that held her elbow, blinded by pain and adrenaline as her sole fuel for conciousness, she lifted, taking the some of the pressure off her dislocated shoulder.

Junko looked down, they were only about 50 feet away from the building that she was just on. And even so, they were far away, Junko felt a bash on her shoulder, sending another bolt of pain, and she saw a flash of white in her perhipheral. Junko felt her her platemail pressure release, and saw another flash of white this time on her left shoulder, and her back and breastplate fell away at the shoulders. Junko would not know this, but the hollow was one of the smarter ones and realized that her armor was held on by the clenches and straps, and that it couldn't get through it either. Junko felt the platemail dangle from the waist, Junko just held on her chainmail barren now, unadorned, she prayed that this hollow would not knot that hteh clasps for her chainmail were at the top as well.

It turns out, as the hollow turned around, that the hollow. Deemed that unnessicary, as its other foot reached down and grabbed her chest, piercing the chainmail, its 3 front talons going through her chest, 1 at near her collar bone, one near her where her breast started, and one through her left shoulder. As the eagle hollow appoached the building. It let go her trajectory to put her where Arawn was...

He could only watch in amazement as the creature picked Junko up and shot into the sky. Arawn's arm still felt numb from punching the hollow. He searched the ground for his sword and picked it up. The weapons felt odd in his weakened grip. He glanced back skyward hoping to catch sight of Junko again only to see her falling like a stone and he was right beneath her. If she was conscious she wouldn't be in such a death dive, he had to stop her fall somehow without hurting her or himself. In the seconds before the impact he had he pumped out his energies again. "This might hurt you abit, but it's the best I can do." He said aloud, not sure if she could hear him. He placed his hands before him "Bakudo #8: Seki!" A round energy shield appeared before his outstretched palms and let his body go limp. Junko's body hit the shield and sent him flying backwards. Junko's body hit the ground with less force than the inital drop. Arawn rolled over, the impact had sent him to the ground sliding on this back. His shirt was ripped from grinding on the rocky street and he could feel the fresh cuts. Junko looked fine, well not as bad shape as one would be after surviving such a fall. He didn't have time to congratulate himself; the other hollow was circling above. It wasn't going to be as easy as the first flying monster he took down. It wasn't going to come down to him, so he was going to have to go to it. The problem was how to get back down.

Arawn had to act fast, he climbed up the nearest building a small four story parking garage. Watching the monster's motions carefully he waited. When the time came he jumped into the sky with all his might, he let his reiatsu blanket his body. The bird hadn't expected him to get so high, it had lowered itself after tossing Junko. It let out a screech of surprise and the shinigami rose up into the air beside it. Arawn swung his sword down at the monster's head. But the swing wasn't fast enough, the creature dodged by flying higher just out of his reach. It laughed at the shinigami's feeble attempt, but Arawn only smiled. It had moved out of reach of his sword, but it was still within range for his true attack.
"Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat! Bakudo #9: Geki!" The creature's ascend stopped as a red light engulfed it's body. Frozen stiff it started plummet to the ground. But it was not alone.
But now he too was falling, but still he had one more card to play. There wasn't much energy or time left.
"Gravity, leave my body. Wind, carry my feet. Heavens, wait for my arrival. Bakudo #18: Feather Fall!" he cried out as he wind whistled in his ears. The ground was fast approaching. A blue haze cloaked him and his falling slowed considerably. But the hollow fell past him and continued head first into the parking garage Arawn had jumped from. The building couldn't take the force of the body as it hit and collapsed. Arawn landed on the tattered roof seconds later, but there was no motion. He looked through the hole made by the creature. He peered into the darkness below.

A talon ripped through the crumbling concrete and grasped his body it's hooks dug into his back. The face came forward to bite him, and he raised his sword as best he could to intercept it. The beak bit into his shoulder, but in doing so it embedded the blade into the mask. The corners of the mask cracked and the hollow held still only just realizing what it had done. It tried to pull back, but Arawn pushed the blade deeper and it froze again. This time it squeeze it's talons, he screamed but he pushed the blade again and it stopped. Their eyes met for a second, the shinigami gave a final grunt grabbing the other side the sword with his left and pushed it through the mask. The white bone mask shattered and the body dissolved. The pressure of the talons vanished instantly.

Kido Training:
Bakudo 18: 508/280

Junko was ricocheted by the seki, and it was painful, her inertia for the most part reversed, and her heavy armor clad self when crashing into a vent, crushing it flat, but a strange thing happened, it managed to redirect her inertia so she was traveling head first, and the stress on the to straps of her chainmail popped free. With her armor at the top free, she slid out of it, completely, her head impacting the concrete as the crushed vent held her armor in its mangled clutches.

Junko's white hair was blotted with spots of crimson red of blood, a small pool of blood forming by her head, her white thin linen robe that she was wearing underneath her armor was stained with the already forming pool of blood from the wounds of her left side. Her right side of the robe was ripped from the slide out of the armor, it catching on part of the broken clasps and ripping a sleeve off at the stitch line. leaving a still ragged edge, this revealed the dislocated shoulder, the bone of her arm forming a large bump over in the skin.

Junko was badly hurt, and she lay, light headed and her vision blurred, watching, As the eagle hollow crashed through the building a short while away. Junko saw arawn land, and She saw the hollow try and get him with another trap too, Junko gritted her teeth and moved her left arm, the pain searing her shoulder, and causeing more blood to pump out of the active muscles. Junko said, "Hado 3 Crimson Strike" And the kido fired, a quite weak one, but it fired none the less, killing the hollow. Junko felt blood enter her mouth afterward, and more blood trickled from her left corner of her mouth, blood wetting her lips in the process, and she stopped moving, simply breathing, the last thing she was able to do right now...

The cool breeze the blew across his face woke him. As his eyes fluttered open the took a moment to examine his surroundings. Only the sky above him and crumbling stone beneath him. When he sat up a sudden wave of pain hit him, and he lay back down. He remembered now, he and another shinigami had be attacked by a group of hollow. The woman! He sat up again ignoring the pain and stumbled to his feet. Slowly Arawn shuffled to the edge of the building, falling and rising several times until he reached it. With much effort he looked down to the street below. He could barely make out the still form on the ground.
"She's probably hurt much worse than me after that fall." He coughed, his throat felt dry. Reaching into his shirt he pulled out his phone. There was blood all over it and the screen was cracked. As he turned it on the display flickered with light, but he couldn't read anything on it.
"I hope the mic still works." He pressed the emergency code, there was no response. Normally the phone allowed him to request anything from reinforcements, messaging, and even evacuate procedures depending on the number code entered. The might might have damaged the unit, there was no telling if it could even send out a signal. He tried again. "This is Arawn Dan'Shir of Squad 12 requesting medical assistance to my current location. Fellow shinigami has sustained heavy damage. Medical support required!." He shouted into the mouth piece. Still no response. He sighed and pressed the code again while he leaned against the side of the building. He felt tired, his strength ebbing again from the minor effort. It was obvious he too has heavily injured. The creature had nearly bit him in half and it's nails had dug deep into his body. He barely noticed that his vision was blurry, his glasses had been knocked off in the fight. He pressed the code again, this time not bothering to look at his hand. The parts of him that didn't hurt were now going numb.
"Master Sung won't be too pleased to see me this condition." Arawn sighed "He probably won't give me another break like this again." As he sat there looked at the sky. If all his days off turned out like this he rather not have any. His phone started to vibrate in his hand. That usually meant a message. Arawn drew the phone close to look, but the cracked screen prevented him from reading anything. He pressed the code once again. If he could receive a message, he had to be able to send one.

Moments later

Two men in shinigami robes stood over him.
"We found him up here, sir!" they shouted, rousing Arawn from his slumber. He didn't remember falling asleep. He tried to sit up, but their hands gently pushed him back down. The cracked phone was still clutched in his hand. One of the men placed his hands over Arawn's heart and his hands started to glow. The pain lessened and Arawn found he could speak.
"The lady?" he asked almost a whisper
"We've got her as well." he tried to smile to reassure him. Then turned to his companion "A quick healing will keep him long enough til we get him to an operating room. Arawn closed his eyes again, that was good enough for him.
