Superhuman
Name: Derek “Direkku” Carson
Age: 22
Birthplace: Storrs, Connecticut
Looks:
Derek is slender, and though male, has rather soft, feminine features, as seen above. He appears quite young for his age. Despite his thin appearance, he is quite strong and fit, and this is obvious if he happens to be walking around shirtless. He dresses in a standard SCS black suit most of the time. However, when he is using his powers, Derek appears as he does in the above picture.
Personality: Interestingly enough, Derek has a sort of dual personality. When he is not using his powers, Derek tends to be introverted and shy, a sweet, well-mannered boy who is most comfortable reading a book, listening to music, gazing at the stars, etc. alone. However, when Derek uses his powers, or is fighting, he takes on a decidedly more heroic personality, becoming more decisive and outgoing. In both personalities, Derek is kindhearted and generous, willing to sacrifice in order to save others.
Gender: Male
Occupation: SCS/High School Student
Special Characteristics: From a young age, Derek was trained in Japanese martial arts as requested by his mother, in order to preserve his heritage. This training includes Aikido, Karate, Kenjutsu, Naginatajutsu, and Sojutsu. As a recruit of SCS, Derek has training in how to operate various types of firearms, as well as a rudimentary knowledge of explosives. Derek can pilot small planes, and is knowledgeable about survival techniques in all sorts of wilderness scenarios. His SCS handheld of choice, however, is a Sig Sauer P228 (military grade) 9mm Parabellum (20 rounds/clip). Derek typically carries 2 back-up clips with him. With this gun, Derek is an expert marksman; anything else, he’s fairly proficient.
Race: Biracial (Caucasian and Japanese)
Special Power- Kagetsu “Bright Moon”
General Power: Derek possesses the ability to create and manipulate light in a way so that it manifests itself aesthetically like moonlight. When Derek activates his powers, the light bends around him to give him the appearance in the above picture. The most basic ability tied to his power is the formation of a weapon; Derek creates a blade of light (just to reiterate, resembling moonlight) which is on par with a Shinigami’s katana, etc. The blade is very much curved as a crescent moon is (see above picture), and manifests itself as either a sickle or a scythe. It can also be used to illuminate natural darkness, unnatural (to an extent) darkness, as well as blind opponents. When Derek reaches rank 2, he will be able to use Shunpo in the sense that for the smallest increments of time he can become light and move at the speed of a Shunpo/Sonido/Hirenkyaku, etc.
Techniques/Abilities:
Gengetsu “Crescent Moon”: From his blade, hands, or reflective surfaces like mirrored glass and still water, Derek can send out spiraling arcs of white light capable of slicing through objects or flesh; alternatively, they can explode on contact. The reflective surfaces aspect of this is key; in a city, Derek can be quite a formidable opponent based on that ability alone.
Kagetsu “Bright Moon”: A ball of pure white light appears around Derek and/or other object(s) or person(s). It acts as a shield against physical and spiritual harm, and also has a gradual healing effect on organic beings within the shield. It obviously has limits as to how much damage it can take before breaking.
Tsukikage “Moonbeams”: Derek can focus beams of pure white light to act as lasers to heat, burn, and/or cut. The beams are about the circumference of one of his arms, and like Gengetsu, can be sent from his blade, hands, or reflective surfaces.
Stats:
Spirit Power: 15

History: Derek was born in an average suburb in America and lived there happily without incident when he was thirteen. The only unusual thing about this time period of his life was that he a) learned to speak Japanese, and b) learned various Japanese martial art forms. At age 13 however, his father found a much higher paying job in Japan, and so the family moved. In Japan, Derek was teased for his outlandish appearance (especially his green hair and feminine facial features), and was bullied often. Strangely, he never developed any resentment towards any of the perpetrators, viewing them simply as misguided people who would learn in time that treating people badly is wrong. Derek spent much of his time staring at the night sky from the roof of the apartment he and his family stayed in, and from this roof, he saw his first Hollow, and it was at this time that his powers as a Superhuman first activated. Needless to say, the SCS picked up on this spiritual activity and recruited Derek, giving him formalized training with firearms, explosives, and survival techniques. They taught him all they knew about the other kinds of spiritual beings in the world. After getting his university degree, Derek joined the SCS full time and the rest, as they say, is history.
Role Playing Sample: It had been a long eight years since his powers had first manifested. Since he had viewed his education as more important than the spiritual world at the time (that and he was admittedly quite terrified of Hollows), Derek had only undergone minimal SCS training during his high school and university years, and had only just completed basic training at the end of his senior year in university. And he was still considered a recruit. In some ways, it was better than a regular job. It was certainly more exciting, for one thing. Tonight was his first night on the job, which was to keep a close eye on the streets for threats.
He didn’t have long to wait (cliché!). A Hollow about the size of a house and resembling a mangy hyena of some kind was sniffing its way toward him. Derek coolly drew his gun and unloaded a standard five-shot spread at the beast; three in the chest area, two in the head; pretty much a guaranteed kill if you hit the right places. The bullets tore through the beast like little knives through butter, ending its life before it could even contemplate aggressive action.
But then…the body rose and the wounds closed, in fact, the beast seemed to get larger; now it was twice as big as it used to be. It roared its displeasure at Derek…who calmly emptied the last 15 rounds in his clip into the beast’s head, and then reloaded in one smooth action.
That should do it…he thought. Nope. The beast rose again, now three times as big as it was in the beginning.
Derek began to run- what could he do in this narrow suburban street? His bullets had failed him; the only option he could think of was to get to the glass skyscrapers of the city a few blocks away. As he ran, Derek pointed backward with his gun and continued to fire rounds, though more slowly, at the beast to make sure he stayed ahead.
Finally, they entered the city. It was time to use his powers.
“Kagetsu!” he cried out, forming a scythe of pure light in his hands.
“Gengetsu!” From the mirrored panels of the city skyscrapers, he sent spinning blades of light toward the hapless creature, slicing it into so many chunks of stinking flesh before it disintegrated.
