| Arawn had finally unloaded his two boxes of stuff into the empty drawers. Even with that task done, he now had various items "donated" to him all over his work station and floor. It was nice to have it clean for those few moments when he first came in. Rolling up his sleeves he looks at the pile of parts. "Might as well start organizing the items. The first problem is that the items are so irregular. Some are small screws, others are cylindrical, a cubical box with lights flashing on it, a silver disk that changes colors, and many others. Some he's afraid to touch others he toys with trying to figure their intended function. He finds one such object that catches his interest. The object in question looks much like a tuning fork; two metallic arms jutting from a black cube. The two metal rods stick out from one side of the cube, on the opposite side is a small lever. The other side of the box has a half sphere. "Is this the top or the bottom?" Arawn asks himself. The other sides of the cube are flat and smooth to the touch. The material feels almost like plastic. It would take too long to find out who had given him the object. The pile was still quite large, and no one actually signed their work. With a deep sigh lay the object on the table and flipped the switch. There is a bright flash of light and Arawn blacks out.

| After much time Arawn awakens to a dark room. His body is sprawled out on the floor, his face resting on the cold stone. As he raises his head a thin line of drool. He can't tell how long he had been out, nor when he had fallen asleep. He moves from the floor and hits the light switch, the room is flooded with a soft glow. His attention is drawn to the work table. On it sits the strange object he had haphazardly turned on. The area around the object is blackened and charred as if burned by an intense flame. Arawn unsheathes his sword, using the blade's edge he nudges the object. Nothing happens. He sighs and puts the blade away. He walks to the table and moves the object into a corner. "Maybe they're trying to kill me." he mutters. It's probably something he should look into later, but he wasted enough time from it knocking him out. Well rested he works on the monster pile.
It was late when he restarted his cleaning efforts, but he feels well rested thanks to the strange unit. Progress is slow, but he finally sorts the parts from the half finished objects. The unfinished objects had promise, while others were complete flops. One object he found was a powerful spring loaded chamber similar to a rifle barrel. Rather than a rifle it was a "T" shape, making it's actual use hard to discern. Another odd item was a metal orb with a button on the end. When pressed it became like a bear trap; a mouth of teeth suddenly appeared. Luck for Arawn the size didn't allow for much power, his finger was cut but not too deeply. By turning the other half of the orb the teeth retracted and he was free. He sucked on the sucked on the wounded finger. "Built a better mouse trap." He decided not to press anymore buttons or switches til he got some protective gear.

| The protective gear was easy to find, but there were many types. There was gear to protect against fire. Arawn hoped none of the trinkets he was given were prone to combustion. He decided to keep the face shield since it had a shade built into it. There was protective gear to guard against shocks and electricity. Think insulated gloves of various degrees even simple plastic gloves. In the end he decided upon a medium thick pair of plastic insulated gloves. He also picked up a pair of rubber sole boots. The reminded him of oven mitts one used when baking. Blast protective gear was also available. Thick armor plated with metals, vests filled with ceramic like plates, and steel toed boots. Arawn chose a heavy apron that was felt like chain mail covered with thick cotton. To complete his uniform he got a pair of steel toed boots with rubber soles. It looked silly with all the pieces put together, but he felt safer.
Back in his room he began once again dismantling the pile. Things went much smoother; he suffered no further injuries at least. A few of the devices did trigger, but with minimal effect. He found another orb shaped object this one released a loud hiss when it was activated. It then rolled off the table and onto the floor. Arawn could only guess that it was meant to hold some gas or liquid. He had lucked out since it was empty instead of filled with a toxic agent. Arawn then found a pair of goggles that allowed a person to look behind themselves. Unfortunately it hindered regular vision. "Genius tainted with madness, or madness tainted by genius?" He asked himself laughing. The table was almost clear now, and he'd done his best to sort them by size and functionality. So engrossed in his work he had forgotten to get supper. He sighed and removed his protective gear. Sweat covered his brow. The thick materials were heavy and hot to wear. As he left the room he looked in the corner to see the various parts he had purchased from his trip to the human world. They needed sorting too, but it could wait.

| Using some tools given to him Arawn slowly dismantled the electric box. He figured the creature had attempted to make a stun gun, but instead created an electric bomb. Irony was upon firing it had fried itself out. Thankfully that meant Arawn could take it apart and try to figure how it worked. Had the giver handed over the device knowing it was armed? Or had Arawn done that to himself? Either way he decided to try to make it work again or copy it to some extent. This proved a very difficult task. Arawn's skill and knowledge of electronics was abit lacking. Upon opening the device he saw the intricate parts and was beside himself with doubt. On his desk were several books on the subject, he picked up the first and started reading. There was a lot of information to absorb and Arawn was barely getting half of it. If the basic was this hard, the advanced stuff would probably kill him. He sighed and kept reading. Most of his free time he would take looks into the books he had gathered. Once in a while he would look at the device and try to find a picture or diagram that matched anything he saw. Most times he just read in silence. Arawn went about his duties in the squad as usual occasionally asking questions to during his helping others. The more he learned the better help he could preform was his excuse. It was a valid reason, but it did advance his studies too. The workload didn't lessen by any means, but he took it in stride now. The hectic workload had become so natural for him, if he wasn't overladen with work he was worried something bad was going on.
The months of study put only a dent into his inability to understand the device, but it did strengthen his admiration of it. Now somewhat versed in the workings of some electronics he could see the genius that had went into it's design. Improving upon it might be impossible, mimicking it was still within reach. The interesting part of the device was that it had no generator as far as Arawn could tell. It probably what cause it to function as it did. Somehow rather than generating electricity it worked off ambient electricity. It didn't make sense to Arawn, how could it utilize such minute amounts of energy and cause such a discharge. Again he wished he could ask the creator, but he wondered if they would want it back if they knew it had worked. Why hadn't they tested it? As he'd observed in the last few months people started and abandoned projects at a ridiculous pace. A project he started last week was canceled well before completion for a new project the next day. Once in a while an old project would re-emerge and be used to help with a more current work. It was an odd system if it could be called that. Still the device baffled him, what was he missing why couldn't it work?
The answer came many weeks later and after several volumes of text. The small machine used something he could only call 'Flash Ionization'. With almost zero energy input it created a domino effect in the area around it. Displacing energy? The metallic pegs rather than become a focal point for the charge acted as antenna allowing the effect to cascade outward. No wonder the machine had shorted out, the energy feedback was too much for it. He was surprised it hadn't caught fire or exploded upon use. His admiration for the creator grew a little more that day. Arawn now felt ready to attempt recreating the device. Getting the right supplies took time. While the wires and casing were basic parts the metal used for the rods was a mystery to him. In the end he had to ask a favor of the other lab workers. His workload increased while they procured him the material and tools. He purchased a video recorder to document his work. A month's worth of preparation and now he was ready.
Arawn requested the week off to begin his project, but he only got 3 days. He would have to make the best of it. With camera filming he finally too the machine apart taking notes as he went. Completely dismantled he studied each part fully and compared them to the gathered materials. Some matched others were close enough he was will to try to use. The first day went by quickly, but he confirmed the parts. The reconstruction was the next step and it was more frustrating than the first. He had to figure which parts had burned out while putting the device back together. Testing each piece took time. Some parts he wasn't sure their function. Backtracking the video and looking into the books again for info. It had seemed another project was used to create this one, a miniature computer was used to begin the electronic cascade. Wiring was easy to replace, but he wasn't sure how to recreate the circuit used to regulate the procedure. A roadblock had fallen into his path.

| The last day was spent looking to replace the chip. The computer guru he went to looked at the charred chip and frowned. "Where did you get this?" The short man at the computer asked. He had several wires connected to his body a connected to his terminal. Arawn resisted the urge to pull them out. "I found it while cleaning storage area." Arawn lied, he didn't want his project taken from him. He wired man looked at the chip. "Well it's very advanced, shame it's damaged." He held the broken circuit chip out back to Arawn. The shinigami took it from the man as he turned back to his terminal and started to type. The matter was over for him, so he was going back to his work. But Arawn wanted more information "Is there any way to repair or create another one?" he asked after moments of listening to the man click away at the keys. The man snorted, but didn't look up from the screen. "It's not possible?" With a sigh the man finally responded "That chip is, make that was, pretty powerful. Don't think it would be easy to repair or recreate." the typing continues. Arawn sighs this time. "How powerful, can you make something similar to it?" The man stops typing eyes slightly wide he turns to Arawn. He snorts then turns back to the monitor and back to typing. "That chip you got is meant to do complex functions and equations within seconds, and it's beyond repair. You couldn't afford to make another one, and even if you could it would take months if not a year to create it." "But is there anything similar? "Hardly it takes like four regular chips just to come close." Arawn grinned at his response.
He couldn't afford a new chip, but he could buy 4 standard chip. He had the man program the chip circuit and resumed his work. The third day was nearly over by the time he actually fit the device together. He wasn't about to try it yet without rechecking all the leads and connections. His last day off ended with him watching the video of the construction again. Work resumed the next day, but he was anxious to have time off again to work on it. He needed to work on the casing, he didn't want a box design like the last one, he planned to make an orb or sphere. It was easy to make a plastic cast to hold the mechanism. He melted down the antenna metal to make a coil around the sphere. Connecting the wires to the now coiled antenna was easy as well, but he needed to make the switch into a pressing button. The only real problem was that he couldn't find a way to properly shield the chip circuit from resulting EMP wave. The finished product sat on his desk, and he would need to test it soon. But before that he wanted to produce another unit. Thankfully he knew it would take less time, since he knew what to look for, but the cost would take a good month or more of favors. He sighed, if it worked he might have a great weapon to add to his arsenal. He looked at the softball object on his desk. Perhaps he should name it? He sat looking at it for several moments "Raiton: Jibashi."
(OOC: will make a post explaining the object fully later)

The object is an orb, black in color, with five metal rings parallel along it length measuring 4 inches in diameter (About the size of a baseball). On the top of the sphere is located a yellow button. Once depressed the sphere will function after a 7 second delay. By pressing and holding the button the delay is only 3 seconds. As for the function itself; the sphere creates a large electric charge in a 4 foot raduis measuring well past 3000 kV. The mechanism doesn't produce this charge, but rather displaces electricity to cascade outward. So while it may in fact electrocute someone at first it actually is moving electricity from the area surrounding it. The removal of electricity gives this weapon an effect not unlike an EMP as well as it's stunning abilities. Unfortunately that in itself is a problem. The grenade cannot be reused or repaired after firing. The internal machinery is burned due to large feedback generated (heat). It does dampen the effect on any other electronic displacement; reducing the range and voltage by half of a second grenade withing 200 feet of the first discharge. The explosion's duration is a scant 3 seconds.
