| Blue orbs gazed at the person staring back at her through the glass. Pale skin a tangled mess of green tresses, fingers traced over the dark circles beneath the blank eyes, a tongue came out and wet the pink lips as a sigh came out. Was this really her? Is this really what she had become after so many years?
Even though her childhood was tough, she never had the love of a mother and especially never her father, for he blamed her for the death of his beloved. Although he constantly reminded her every day of her entire life of this fact, her brothers never did and gave her the love she needed, and then eventually her best friend Raikou. In reality she was very happy and never truly felt the loneliness of this life.
Covering the ghastly face in the mirror with her hands, she left out another sigh, but that was then. There is no such thing now, Rai had left her...he had lost himself, crushed he had no more room for her in his life. Tomo and Toyo every day since their father had left shown her nothing but smiles, forever trying to cheer her up and get her to move on with her life. Even with that she felt more alone than ever.
A squeak of the knob, and then the rush of the water of the shower, slowly peeling off her pajamas and leaving them on a crumpled pile upon the floor, she stepped into the steamy confinement. An empty shell is what she became, she was there a person, real breathing and alive, but inside there was nothing...her soul was broken as well as her heart, and isn’t that what you needed to truly be alive.
Again back to the mirror to stare at this person, the brush running slowly through the tangles of wet hair, and then the slow process of putting on a little make up, why she did this she didn’t know, maybe it was because she hoped it made someone happy, that she put at least that bit of effort. She would slip into her sneakers and pull her coat on, another look into the mirror before saying good bye.
The sun was bright and the day was hot, abnormally hot for being the first of July, her sneakers thudded along the cement as she walked, the orchids nestled safely in her arms, they were her favorite so she was told. The birds sang their song, the smell of the grass and the incense was sweet. It was silent, as she sat their head bowed taking in the scents, talking silently to the woman she never knew but yet missed terribly. Her fingers tracing over the character of her mother’s name as a tear moved along her chin to drip on the flowers.
The walk home was always the worst, it’s when the emptiness wrapped about her tighter than ever, she felt colder, the sun was slowly sinking below the horizon, the hum of e verything going on about her slowly began to die out to nothing, she walked and walked, the hum clearing suddenly, a blaring horn sounded.
The empty shell lay broken and bleeding, her body twisted in such a way that was not possible, the terrified gasps from on lookers, shouts of help and sirens. Blue eyes looked down at the poor miserable thing, such a pretty girl, lying there with a smile over those pink lips.
Who was she?? | |

| Watching silently and unseen by the others, checking the pulse, frowning sadly giving a slow shake of his head to the surrounding people, the sign telling them that this girl before them was gone. Pulling the Student Id tag from her bag, she was identified as Rin Kanazaki. That was months ago, and she now knew that the girl was herself. She was the loney broken girl who died that day. It was her that was now stuck in this exsistence, still lonely as she was when she was alive.

| As the time went on, she continued to watch those she left behind unnoticed, the loneliness only becoming worse, it was now that she noticed that during these periods of time, the chain that was attached to her chest would come alive, the links devouring one another, the aching in her chest would become stronger and more painful, but after a link or two had gone, it would stop. Soon the memories of these people would begin to fade, and she found it harder to remember the faces she watched everyday. Although one particular face was clear and it caused the ache in her chest to worsen and deepen the loneliness in her chest. | |

| Gritting her teeth against the pain, her hands clutching at her chest, her breath came out in pants, just a little longer and it would be over. The horrible crunching of metal soon came to a stop, and she let out a breath of relief, her hands touched the now dormint links, the pain had been getting worse lately, and then links more active. Looking down at the last few remaining link, she wondered what was going to happen now. Before it was only when she tried to remember the faces and the memories of those two boys, as well as the other. But now...it just happened the increase of pain was also beginning to make her worry. Over the past few months she had noticed strange creatures lurking about feeding off of the souls like her that wandered about, she had also witnessed a few of these things destroyed by spiritual beings clothed in black robes, who saved the souls and would send them off, allowing them to pass on. Rin could no longer take the pain anymore, she didnt want to have this empty lonely feeling.
Pressing herself against the walk of the darken alleyway, she clutched at the chain on her chest, the pain was almost unbearable, the sight of that wolf like creature set something off deep within herself, those glowing red eyes pierced straight through her, luckly one of those blacked robed people interupted as she was able to get away. But since then, the links of the chain had begun to chew and eat away at each other the pain increasing.
The loneliness was surrounding her, the black void swallowing her up, her green eyes squeezed shut tightly as the sound of the metal crunching began louder, the pain seemed to be tearing her apart, she let out a long wail, as she slid down the wall, curling up on the floor.
Why? Why did her mother leave her alone? Why? Why did her father hate her and leave? Why? Why even when with Tomo and Toyo was she alone? Why? Why did Rai push her away? Why? Why did he leave her alone? Why? Why was she always alone?
The wail turned into a painful blood curtling scream, as the last link devoured itself and the chain forever disappeared to leave a gaping black hole. | |
