Old Pals

Kaoseu had nothing better to do and was terminally bored. He decided he'd fix his problem in the same fashion he always did. He gathered his Zanpakuto and left the room, absent of his sandals, as was his new fashion, increasing the strength of his soles and taking the weight off his feet. He grinned and made his way to the sparring grounds, ready to ease his twitching nerves with a bit of swordplay.

He arrived after a few minutes, breathing in the fresh air. The sparring grounds were virtually empty, a few Academy peppering the grounds here and there. He walked into the grounds and drew his blades, not caring who saw both. He ran through katas mechanically, then switched to his own experimental styles. He connected both blades and unwound the bandages that were wrapped around the hilts, and used those to whir his blades about his person, pretty much creating an impenetrable bubble around him. He grinned, keeping one blade whirring as he lashed out the other blade, striking through when open, creating a new tactic for battle as he yanked both blades back to himself. Now, if only he had an opponent to test it on...

Not far from where Kaoseu was practising Ri was standing on a training field with multiply destroyed and a class of student watching in awe. Ri had gotten roped into demonstrating the use of Kido in combat to a new class of students.


"Ri. Demonstrate Bakudo thirty four" The instructor order to a disgruntled Ri. Ri turned his attention to a few unharmed dummies and then concentrated his reiatsu on creating the black chains.

Soon thick dark chains formed in his hands as oo's and awes came from the students. Ri shook his head as he start swinging the chain around over head then without really putting much effort into it he sent the chain the dummies. The chain pierced through one of the dummy then swung around taking the heads off the rest


“May I leave?” Ri asked staring at the instructor clearly show he didn’t want to be here at all. He didn't like wasting his time showing student simple kido that the instructor should be able to demonstrate themselves.

Kaoseu caught wind of the very end of Ri's statemet and turned to the familiar voice. He grinned as he watched Ri helping to teach a class, but the look on his old friend's face showed he clearly had no desire to teach these guys. Kaoseu grinned and went over, lazily whirling his blades.

"Leave? Not just yet, old friend. We still gotta show these kids the basics of swordplay and the similarities and differences of one blade and two blades in battle." he said with a matter-of-fact tone, as if he were teaching too. He grinned as he waited for Ri to respond, watching his old friend carefully for any movement.

"Do you really think they'll be able to keep up with even watching us?" Ri said as his cocky little smiled return to his face at the chance for a good fight. Ri turned his head to the instructor who nodded back


"Come one then. Keep up." Ri said as he shunpo'd toward the west only to reappear at the far end of a nearby sparring field. Ri mind raced recalling his previous fight with Kaoseu so to plan his offensive in this fight.

Kaoseu chuckled under his breath as he Flash stepped as well, arriving 15 feet in front of Ri.

"Alright, keep your eyes peeled, and try not to blink. If blood spatters, we'll clean up later. And no screaming in horror, please. We're both good at what we do." Kaoseu called to the students, smiling from ear-to-ear as he recalled Ri's past actions in battle. Without warning, he Flash Stepped at Ri, appearing just behind his left shoulder, his left hand blade trailing behind him, aimed at Ri's midsection.

"So tell me, how's the Shikai coming along, Ri?"

Ri movement we're fast but merely clever, he moved his body and placed his sheathed sword in the path of the Kaoseu strike. Ri smiled as Kaoseu blade pierced his sheath revealing the steel beneath.

"Your lagging behind, Kaoseu , maybe I shouldn't of left squad eleven cause seem you've been slacking with me gone" Ri said slowly as he saw the student arrive to witness the fight.

"You've not Shikai long, I'd say" Ri said smiling as he quickly glanced over their current battlefield, it was flat for the most part only a few dents in the ground from old fights.

There was a moment in which Kaoseu's forward motion was halted by Ri's parry and Kaoseu used that to his advantage. He quickly shifted his blade to a reverse grip and drew his other blade, spinning in a circle towards Ri's open side.

"Lagging behind? I do believe that I'm very much on level. You're the one that is in need of practice. The 10th Squad's made you soft." he replied as he swung. "As for Shikai, I'm fairly decent. Except I haven't had the opportunity to try it in battle." finished the white-haired Shinigami.

Ri watched Kaoseu changed his grip on his sword and Ri knew the path Kaoseu attack was about to take. Ri sighed and shunpo'd away a good few yards behind Kaoseu.


"Hm I'm surprised , I jumped into battle the moment I got Shikai, as a member of squad eleven I assumed you'd do the same but maybe your Shikai isn't all it's cracked up to be" Ri said slowly drawing his sword as he spoke. He wasn't overly eager to fight but he was interested in Kaoseu shikai and he never turned down a chance to use his shikai.

Kaoseu grinned as he continued his circle and ended facing Ri. "Running away, are we, Ri?" he said teasingly. In truth, Kaoseu had just gotten back from his Shikai training, and Ri was his first battle with it. "So, let's see it then." he said.
