Shinigami

Name: Kasumi Hitotsu

Actual Age: 93
Appears: 14

Height: 4' 9"

Weight: 86 lbs

Gender: Male

Personality: Kasumi is a very laid back, easy-going kind of person. He always has a crooked smile, although maintains a lethal wolfish expression, even with the smile. He is at ease with anyone, and is very adept at hiding his emotions, although if angered, will flare into an unstoppable rage. He is a talented liar, but will tell the truth unless necessary, and also has an unparalelled way with words. He speaks his mind, no matter what you think of him. Despite his light frame and unremarkable height, he is extremely confident in his personal ability, and can sometimes get cocky. He is an excellent judge of character and his tongue is as sharp as his mind. He relies on his speed and intelligence in battle, having not much real prowess or remarkable fighting skill.

Appearance: Kasumi Hitotsu Untitl10
There's not much else that differs from his appearance. Kasumi made his outfit his own soon after joining the Academy. The belts and pants are all made from dried strips of his old uniform. He has a hard exterior appearance and a stare so piercing it could stop a train in it's tracks. The tatoos on his body are all hand and self made.

Sealed Zanpakutō: Kasumi carries twin double-edged, long blade katana. They were originally as any regular katana, but Kasumi sharpened the flat edges of the blades on his own. The blades are completely normal, except notches that Kasumi made indented into the tips of the blades. Both blades are a tinted red. The hilts of each are almost nonexistent, and Kasumi has melted black rubber gloves onto the handles of each blade. A black chain extends from the bottom of each hilt, the tips of which are able to connect. The guard on each blade is nonexistant. Each blade is approximately 60 inches long from the top of the hilt.

History/Background:

Life in the Living World

Kasimi grew up alone. He had and still does not have any idea of who his parents could have been. He lived on the streets as long as he could remember, fending for himself. He developed a phenomenal speed and an easygoing way with words, often times wooing his way into food and shelter. At the age of six, he was aster than most grown men, and could give an Olympic runner a hard-pressed time. At the same age, he was inducted into a circus.

While with the circus, he became an extremely talented gymnast and acrobat, his small build and light frame making hm quite adept at it. His strength grew and by the time he was 9, he could lift grown men one armed, though he looked as if he had no muscle whatsoever. He was happy, and never had to worry about food, but missed being alone, as sometimes he was forced to bunk with several people at a time.

Kasumi was being hard pressed, now at the age of 12. He decided it was tme for him to learn, and left the circus while they were in a place dubbed Karakura Town. He found a library and snuck in, making the stacks located beneath it his home. He read every book in the library, after teaching himself to read. He became an intelligent young individual in the year that passed.

At 13, he enrolled himself in school, but was still not fitting in as he thought he would. He still was feral on the inside, wild and unruly. He began seeing, things, or so he thought. They were beings with white masks and empty, fathomless eyes, sometimes insanely small, other times as big as houses. Then, a year later, the day came when he saw something that changed his life.

One of the white masked beings, one of the huge ones, was lumbering through the streets. Kasumi chose to ignore it as he walked the lonely street to the house he'd talked the lovely female owner into allowing him to stay at. Then, it was as if the creature noticed him. It let out a screech, one so inhuman and loud, it set off car alarms and shattered windows. The creature then leveled its gaze at Kasumi and charged. Kasumi was running before the creature was even close to him.

The creature was huge, and faster than it looked. It was tailing Kasumi quite well and finally Kasumi rounded a corner then hid in an abandoned building. The white masked being seemed to wander by and Kasumi sighed. He was just about to exit the buiding when there was a huge flash of light and then the world was on fire.

Kasumi realized, as he lay dying, pinned beneath several beams that were set aflame, that the world was not on fire, rather, there was so much flame it had fooled his eyes. He heard the inhuman howl again and knew what the being wanted, that it wanted Kasumi to be its next meal. He was closing his eyes when he heard the rustling of fabric and saw a figure dart before his eyes, then several others.

He heard voices and then clattering, then one last inhuman howl. The voices gathered around him, talking lightly. Kasumi managed to ask who they were, and was told to relax and just let go. He did so and then the voices died away. Hours later, he awoke on the ground, a scream at his lips, in an unfamiliar place. Later, he would realize he had entered what is known as Rukongai, part of the entirety that is Soul Society.

Life in Soul Society

Kasumi lived in Rukongai for many years after his arrival, relishing in the feeling of being independent again. He wandered around much the way he used to, stealing and talking his way into whatever he needed or wanted. After 79 years, he discovered he had potential as a Shinigami after being plagued by odd dreams of whispering beings that he was unable to hear, and enrolled into the Academy where he is currently today, hoping to become like the famed and equally despised beings of Soul Society.
(sorry if this is a bit flat, 79 years is a bit much, even for me.)

The white haired, short statured teenager wandered through the stalls, hungry for a good bit of food. Kasumi walked past a stall of fruit, most of which looked old and dried. He saw a bit of apple poking through the pile that looked fresh and still gleamed its rosy red glow. He walked up to the stall, screwing his face up into a pained expression as he clutched his stomach and pushed himself right up against the stall. He looked up at the vendor with pleading eyes.

"Please ma'am... May I have some food...? I'm so hungry, and I haven't eaten for days..."

The vendors scowl melted away as Kasumi looked in her eyes. She was malleable as putty in his hands as she picked out the best pieces of fruit for him and put them in a sack. Little did she know that as she was putting fruit in a sack from behind the stall, he was discreetly loading his pockets with the fruit he saw as well.

The woman handed him the sack and gave him a few gold pieces. He smiled, forcing a few watery tears from his eyes. He walked away, still clutching his stomach, then rounded a corner where he was out of sight of the other vendors. He hid his sack of fruits and shuffled up to the baker, peering through the dirty glass into the shop. The baker came out screaming at him.

"Either buy somethin' or get the hell outta my window, ya rotten kid!" he yelled, waving a rolling pin threateningly in the air. Kasumi had hidden most of his gold with his sack of fruit, but held two pieces in his hands. He cupped them and looked at the baker pitifully.

"I would like to buy some bread... but this is all I have... Will this get me something... Anything...? I'm so hungry, sir..." whispered Kasumi hoarsely. He looked up at the baker again and held out his hands, offering the gold.

The baker's scowl never disappeared, but the anger in his eyes dimmed to pity as he grumbled for Kasumi to follow him. He entered the warm shop, and the baker handed him several loaves of warm bread. Kasumi offered him the gold again, but the baker only turned away. Kasumi smiled and set the gold quietly on the counter, then left, running quickly to where he his his sack of fruit and gold, then ran all the way across Rukongai, to a rundown, abandoned house.

Inside, he met with 5 other kids, ones he had befriended soon after arrival. They split the food, gourging themselves on the small feast.

"Kasumi, you're so good at it! You'll have to teach me how to woo people the way you do one day!" called his best friend, Hanabira.

Kasumi grinned and blushed lightly as the other kids, the majority being guys, made childish cat calls and whistles at the two. Kasumi laughed and threw a piece of bread at the ones closest, playfully. Then, he stood and ran a hand through his white hair. He told them all goodnight and went off upstairs to the hammock he'd handmade himself, kicking back and drifting off into a peaceful sleep, interspersed with blurred images of two figures and vague, sensless whisperings.
