Extended Mission (open)

A Garganta opened in the very center of Karakura Town, and from it stepped an individual who had not set foot within the area for quite some time- but had now returned. Jacques Kyoukan took a long pull on his cigarette before flicking some ash down on the town below. It had been too long since he had breathed in Real World air. But now he was here on an actual mission, handed down from the Espada. His job was to hunt down three specific kinds of spiritually aware beings, Bounts, Quincy, and Superhumans. Unless engaged, he was not to fight Shinigami. He had no clue as to why, but thought it didn't matter. The point was, he had some killing to do.

It didn't take him long to zero in on a spiritually aware individual. It was a human leaning against the side of a building, smoking a pipe. He looked middle-aged, and completely harmless. Well...Jacques supposed it would be courteous to warn this human of his death before it happened. "Excuse me..." he said. "But you are about to die at my hands. Would you care to-"

Jacques was cut off by the man reacting faster than he would have thought possible. The flame in the pipe seemed to flare, and then all of a sudden, Jacques was surrounded by immolating flame that licked at his expensive shoes and suit. This would not do at all. With an irritated grunt, Jacques released his spiritual pressure into the night sky, smothering the flame and slowly asphyxiating the man. "Fool...you think your parlor tricks are sufficient to kill me? You've barely singed me." And with that, Jacques plunged his hand into the man's chest, killing him instantly.

Perhaps it had been foolish to release that much spiritual pressure. It would surely draw Shinigami as well as his intended query. Oh well- what was done, was done.

Ri's officer was perfectly silent. Everything was in perfect order and the room was clean for once. He'd spent some time cleaning it then had retired for a nap in his chair. From the open window a Hell butterfly flew into the room and landed Ri.

The room suddenly burst apart, Ri's chair was knocked over, the paper on his desk scattered and Ri himself was no longer present. He moved quickly toward the gate, receiving the restricting limit in the form on snowdrop in over his heart then entered into the human world.

The reason for the rush was that for one an Arrancar was lose in the human world but secondly Ri knew the pressure, he'd fought it once before as the first seat of squad ten and Ri wasn't one to leave to job half finished.

After the incident with the Superhuman, Jacques decided that vacating the premises was probably in his best interest. He had no intention of running into hordes of any kind of enemy, and like anybody with half a brain, preferred meeting enemies on his own terms. Just to be extra safe, he decided he would use his ability to turn invisible. Now invisible, he Sonido'd up to the top of the nearest building and began heading toward a general concentration of higher than normal spiritual pressures.

It didn't take him long to reach the outskirts of the area of high spiritual pressures. Here he found a young woman fiddling with a cross dangling from her wrist. She seemed completely preoccupied with this idiotic activity. Jacques Sonido'd down to street level, and then stealthily crept up behind her, becoming visible as he did so. She didn't know what hit her. His Bala-enhanced punch was sufficient to break her back and send her through the side of the building she had been standing by.

Not the typical type of kill Jacques liked to employ. Too flashy. However...his orders had also been to eliminate his targets in obvious manners. As a message to someone, he guessed, but to what purpose, Jacques had no idea.

Moving quickly through the city, Ri didn't stop when he felt the pressure vanished. He arrived where the pressure had been. As he arrived he stood on something, a pipe. Searching the ground Ri quickly found the body of a old man.

His chest had a large hole through and through, big enough for a hand. Ri tried but the Arrancar seem to know he was being pursued. Ri knelt to the ground around the corpse and concentrated, a small amount of the attackers pressure still lingered in the wound.

"Sacred light that gives us sight, lead me to where I must go. Bakudo twenty Lit" Ri chanted quietly. He could feel the direction the Arrancar had come from but the trail on from there virtually non-existent

Then a flare of pressures, Ri shunpo'd immediately drawing Gaircas as he moved. Buildings and people flashed by him as he traversed the town. Ri could only hope he'd be in time to prevent the attack but he feared the worst.

The more prudent thing to do was probably to leave and head on to his next victim. However...Jacques had always had a soft spot for the souls of women. It wouldn't take too long to absorb her essence. He strode through the rubble and placed a gloved hand on her twisted corpse. Jacques opened his mouth, and light that seemed to originate from the body began to flood into his mouth...

Ri wasn't far but there was only one pressure now, someone had fallen. He gripped Gaircas tightly as he skidded on the ground to stop himself though he wish he hadn't. The first sight he saw was an Arrancar feeding on the soul of a woman.


"Sight. Hearing. Smell. Taste. Touch. Thought. And unto the six mortal senses... Good. Evil. Neutrality. And further unto each, Purity and Corruption. The 36 earthly desires of this world. Shared with a loved one, 72 earthly desires Hado forty two, seventy two Pound Cannon" Ri Canted quickly and fired with dead aim for the arrancars chest. He was a good distance away, more then likely it was going to be a miss but at least it would stop him feeding.

The taste of a woman's soul was always so...gourmet. It was delicate and subtle, like a good mousse, or fine wine. Absolutely delicious. Jacques was so enjoying himself that he nearly didn't notice a change in spiritual pressure close to him. He turned his head, her soul still entering his mouth to see a Shinigami raising a hand at him, chanting something. Likely a hado spell; especially since he was in quite the compromising circumstance.

With an irritated grunt, Jacques severed his connection with the woman's soul, and Sonido'd away from the three blasts, which ended up sending debris (and bits of flesh) into the sky. He appeared down the street from the Shinigami, nonchalantly lighting a cigarette. "Very classy, Shinigami, desecrating a corpse like that...and I thought you were more cultured than that- obviously not."


He blew some smoke in the Shinigami's direction. Considering that this *was* a mission given to him by the Espada, he figured he would be merciful and give the Shinigami a chance to leave without quarrel. "Look, Shinigami, I have no quarrel with you. I am here to do a job, and I always follow through. Fortunately for you, my job is not to kill you...at least not tonight. So go away. I have things of a...delicate nature to attend to."

Even though he had offered the Shinigami the chance to go, Jacques of course mentally prepared himself for battle. He thought it unlikely the Shinigami would just go away...but perhaps this one was a coward at heart. One could always hope.

Ri erupted in laughter for a moment as he uncorked his bottle and took a deep swig then returned it to his side. He knew if the limit on the power wasn't it place Nirro wouldn't be asking him to run away.

"I'm upset you seem to have forgetten me. I introduced myself to you before as Ri O'nocht fifth seat of squad ten but lets me Re-introduce myself. I'm Ri O'nocht Captain of squad thirteen" Ri said speaking between stints of laughter. He gripped Gaircas and drew her out.

"Watch his hands, last time he near tore your heart out" Gaircas advised as Ri took his stance. He knew he that if Nirro was as strong as he was before he'd soon need the limit removed and he'd need a wider battle field

"Lets take this were we can fight properly" Ri said as he shunpo'd slowly enough for Nirro to follow with ease. He moved himself up into the sky high above the tallest buildings. Here at least sword play and direct kido's were do able but a missed kido could easily caused untold damage.

"Captain? Hmph. Obviously Soul Society has become more lax when it comes to choosing leadership," said Jacques contemptuously. "The Espada eat people like you for breakfast." He blew a smoke ring up at Ri as he flash stepped up. He thinks he can decide the terms upon which we meet for battle? Arrogance beyond belief- I should relieve him of that infirmity. Jacques only watched as Ri flash stepped up, not moving himself just watching.

"I'll be up in a moment," he said, holding up a finger. At the end of his fingertip, a green ball of energy formed. Sorry Captain. But I don't fight fair. There was no way Ri was going to stop Jacques's action in time. Jacques's Cero tore through the skyscraper that Ri had been adjacent to as he went up. The resulting explosion sent twisted hunks of steel girder, shards of glass, and chunks of concrete flying up and then raining down. Jacques figured this would impede Ri's flight up quite effectively, as well as distracting him.

He Sonido'd away, just barely far enough to dodge out of the way of some of the falling pieces of debris, and then vanished from sight. Another Sonido, and he was behind Ri, who was presumably distracted by the fact that there were falling things all around him, and the fact that Jacques had pretty much just murdered a building full of humans. Here's my chance, he thought. His knife slid into his hand and he drove it forward to sever Ri's spinal cord with a single stab.

Ri did move he was still in the same position he had been before, he watch on in horror as the building fell. Knife drew every closer and as it pierce his skin Ri's being dissolved quite literally, the after-image anyway.

The real Ri had entered into a shunpo dive bomb toward the grounds, leaving the image behind after him. Moving through the falling ruin those inside Ri couldn't save but those on the street had a chance.

With in seconds Ri removed every person form the street, each on he move out of harm and each one fell unconscious due to his pressure probably best. He save what he could does inside the building he couldn't help now.

"This is Ri O'nocht. Requesting soul protect over the entire town and removal of the limit" Ri asked through the mic on his ear. Nirro had proved to Ri he was evil and for the fact Ri wasn't going hold back.

He flash stepped from street back into the air, level with Nirro. He started Nirro down, his eyes had gone a hazy blue colours but it was clear from his eyes, he wanted blood and a lot of it.

"Oh dear, I've made quite a mess," Jacques said unconcernedly as he took a long drag on his cigarette before exhaling smoke in Ri's direction. "Humans are so entertaining to play with- and I'm sure I felt some small spiritual energies in there. Soul Society views Superhumans and Quincys as a threat, don't they? I just did you a favor..." He chuckled with genuine amusement. "We're not so different, you know, Arrancar and Shinigami. I don't intend to be cliché, but we're two sides of the same coin, really."

Inwardly, Jacques was disappointed that his ploy had not worked; killing a Captain would've surely proved that he was Espada material. Anyway, the Captain appeared to be pulsing with more spiritual energy (and anger) than before. "I seem to have touched a nerve. I think you should take life a little less seriously, Captain Whats-your-name. More fun that way." He punched forward with his left hand, sending a green Bala flying toward Ri. He of course had no intention of hitting Ri with it, but as always, his moves were practically choreographed.

Even as the Bala left his fingertips, Jacques vanished from sight, Sonido'ing upward and stopping away from the bits of dust and debris still in the air. As Ri was distracted by the Bala, Jacques turned invisible and stood stock still. There was no way he was going to fight the Captain on the Captain's terms. He was a dirty fighter- that was how one survived- there were no other options.

Ri waited till the bala was close then sliced through it with ease. The balla exploded with no effect to Ri but Ri knew it was nothing more then a distraction. Nirro it seemed wasn't will to fight Ri head on instead he used cowardly tactics.

"Coward" Ri muttered somewhat as he smiled. Ri waved his hand and instantly the wind around him began to blow at gale forces. Ri kept the wind around him being filled with his reiatsu should Nirro come close he'd be able to detect him, Ri could extend the area if he released his Zanpakuto or remove the limit but for know he wanted neither.

Wind-user eh? How boring... "Estar Despierto, Diablo Divina!" Jacques became visible quite suddenly. His Hollow mask had melted up over the top of his head to form a sort of demonic lizard like helmet. The mask extended down to his shoulders and down his arms. It also covered his back and wrapped around his torso. Wings sprouted from his back, and he had gained a whip-like, prehensile tail. Interestingly enough, he seemed to be surrounded by copious amount of a white smoke.

With a disinterested look on his face, Jacques pointed down imperiously, sending clouds of the smoke down to integrate with Ri's wind. Of course, in its current state, the white smoke could do no damage to Ri- if anything, he might feel a slight burning sting if it touched him, but that was superficial. Actually, Jacques had sent his smoke down for a different reason. Hopefully Ri would be on his guard about the smoke, and act exactly as Jacques was predicting he would.

From the same finger that he had pointed down with, Jacques formed another green ball of energy. His Cero erupted straight down toward Ri, who had encased himself in his gale force winds, which now contained the white smoke. Stupid, really, it gave him limited directions in which to travel. Jacques wondered how Ri would choose to counter his Cero.

"Captain O'Nocht, Your limit has been lifted. Soul protection in place" A voice chimed down the mic in Ri's ear. A smile broke out across Ri's face, now he was going to have a lot of fun. The white smoke floated to Ri but with a simple gaze Ri blew it away from his sight, the cero fired at him now was going to be move trouble.

"Hado seventy three Twin Lotus Blue Fire " Ri called out as two blast of blue flamed shot from his hands. The first connected with the Cero creating an explosion and ending both of the attacks. The second flew in an arc around the explosion and was aimed for Jacques.

“The wind whispers of your demise. BANKAI!” "The wind whispers of your demise. Bankai!"

An cue Ri's pressure rocketed and he felt that sensation, that un-describable sensation that he lusted after so much. Gale force wind surround Ri blocking him from sight. The winds carried his reiatsu within them and gathered more from him meaning detecting his exactly location was impossible but any being with sense could find his general locale easily

When he next appeared, his hair had turned pure white , his eye now tinted blue and his robes were not replaced by long draping white robes that blew at full lenght in the wind. His Zanpakuto was now a green staff around six foot in length, taller then him.

"Now the fun Starts"

Jacques grunted with annoyance as his Cero met with the first blue fireball and failed to hit the Captain. He was more pleased, however, with the addition of the second. Both fireballs had had to travel through a section of his white smoke; the second more so than the first. By the time the second came close to Jacques, it had already traveled through a great deal of Jacques's reiatsu, which severely weakened it. He reached out with a single hand and met the power-diminished blast with a single hand- appearing to dispel the powerful spell effortlessly.

"That's all you can do, Captain? Feh. I can do better. Energía Duplicación," said Jacques. He pointed a finger down at Ri and fired two identical blasts of blue fire directly at him; essentially the same attack Ri had just used against him. Unlike Ri's spell however, these fireballs would not be diminished by Jacques white smoke.

When Ri released his Bankai, Jacques's smoke had been blown away in all directions; no matter, he knew how to use that to his advantage. The smoke simply roiled back and surrounded Ri on all sides. "Acero Reiatsu." The smoke instantly began firing spears of hardened reiatsu at Ri, with a majority of them firing up so as to force him toward the fireballs, and toward Jacques.

Jacques's tail twitched impatiently. He wanted so badly to wrap it around the Shinigami's neck.

Two blast were coming at Ri and a number of spears were nearing him, Ri laughed. He spun his staff between his finger was he brought it across into his left hand, as it spun in crashed through the spears that disintegrated before they touched the staff. Ri's laugh echo'd , he looked at Jacques and smiled.

The two blast struck Ri dead on, one hit each of his shoulder but as the smoke cleared Ri became visible again, seemingly untouched. His laugh ceased as he walked slowly toward Jacques. As Ri walked wind blew at great speed from him, removing the white smoke from his sight.

"There is unfortunately a great difference in our powers, normaly I'd ask if you wanted to continue but in this case you've no choice" Ri said, his voice was difference now, more direct and determined. He raised his staff pointing one end at Jacques, once moment a distance of at least 20 metre separated the two , then in a split second only inches divided the two.

"Buile an Cas"

Jacques was annoyed by how easily Ri had taken care of his spears, but brightened a little when his fireballs caught him in the shoulders. He was less pleased when Ri emerged barely worse for the wear. "That may be true, *Captain*," Jacques emphasized the word as if it was distasteful in his mouth...which it was. "But I am by far more cunning than you." This statement was of course accompanied by the drawing closer of more of his white smoke- though the fact that it was making its way through the wind belied something about its quality.

And then Ri flash stepped toward him. Jacques whipped his tail around as a counter, as he moved away instinctively- only to have it severed by Ri's wind attack, which went on to cut a ragged hole through the wall of smoke. Unfortunately for Ri, Jacques had had every intention of getting a body part removed. As the tail was separated, solidified reiatsu instantly caught the appendage and quickly and roughly brushed it against Ri's exposed left shoulder. Perfect. The Captain had now been injected with Jacques's venom. Now he only need hold out.

Jacques Sonido'd away from his opponent and eyed him warily. "So you've removed a limb. Impressive. Too bad it won't help." With a flare of reiatsu, Jacques's tail regrew as if nothing had ever happened to it. "Balanza del Dragón," he uttered, and reiatsu molded itself around his entire body, except for his wings, and solidified into a pure white scaled armor. "Energía Duplicación," Jacques said. With a wave of his newly formed tail, he sent hundreds of identical blades of solid reiatsu directly at Ri.

Jacques tail attempted to pierce Ri's shoulder but as it neared him, it lost all of it's momentum. With a flick of his wrist gale winds blew the torn limb for his sight. Ri's laugh still filled their battle field.

"Cunning matters little when you can't cut me" Ri said a cocky smile on his face as he took a few steps forward. The reiatsu blade rose in the air the made for the their target, Ri raised his hand and using the wind suspended the blades in the air.

"Roar mighty winds! Wail your symphony of pain and rend my enemies with your unyielding bloodlust! Hado eight Greater Gale winds" Ri chanted, his favourite kido. A blast of winds erupted from him and shot toward him Jacques making short work of his blades.Gale wind howled around Ri as smiled broadly at Jacques .

The kido offer Ri many advanages, the first being with wind carrying his reiatsu Jacques had to rely on sight to find him, the winds could also replenish a moderate amount of reiatsu and with the wind forever blowing around him Jacques white smoke wasn't going to be able get near him.

"Hmph..." Jacques Sonido's up, above Ri's tempest, where his white smoke followed. A new strategy would have to be adopted, that was for certain. Jacques spread his limbs wide, and his smoke curled around him, over nearly every area of his body, obscuring his form from sight for an instant. When it cleared, it was obvious what he had done. His armor was now thicker than it had been before, he was definitely more barrel chested and had a lot more mass now too. His wind won't be able to shift me, thought Jacques. All I need is to touch him. That's all I need. He did however leave a decent amount of smoke in that form though- you never knew when opportunity would strike, and he didn't want to be too weighed down by the increase in armor.

Jacques Sonido'd back down, right behind Ri and struck out with an armored fist...as well as a rapid succession of pretty much every other limb. Jacques was a masterful hand-to-hand combatant, and he was showing it now, with never a pause in the flurry of punches, kicks, and the occasional tail whip aimed at every conceivable part of Ri's body, without pause. The goal was not to inflict damage of course- only to touch him. Just once. After all, the spines that covered Jacques were still effective even with him so armored; his Resurrection was so convenient...so versatile. No wonder it was called "Divine Demon."
