Running for Fun [Kaiyo]

Shin rummaged through his little pack, pulling out a little bottle of water and taking a few sips of it before resealing it and putting it back in his pack and taking a few deep breaths. He was practicing running, he had so much free time now that none of the local children would allow him to play with him in their games, on account of how fast he was. So he had taken to practicing running in order to increase his speed and had been working as a courier a lot more often now, and he was started to get a lot more money, though for some reason he found that he was hungry a lot more often now and was spending almost all his earnings on food.

Shin looked over his little running course, it was the forest in district 7, it was pretty big and he often trained here because it was out of the way, quiet and pretty. Shin took a deep breath and put that all out of his mind and took a running stance, then bolted into the forest at full speed, weaving in between the trees as he ran along, ducking under branches and avoiding clustered areas of bushes.

The crunching of twigs and cracking of leaves had blurred quite blissfully into a montage of noise; a heavenly chorus that drowned out the sorrows of the world. For the morning at least. Kaiyo had been searching for quite a while to find the perfect running arena and today she thought she'd found it. The sun-dappled branches sprawled out ahead of the girl, a tantalising risk that echoed and called to the runner within the girl. The unquestionable musty smell of earth had long since filled her nostrils, cleansing them of all garnished stenches beyond it's towering protection.

She slowed her pace, vaulting a low branch to have a quick break. Her hand sank through her soft blue hair, tracing it back for only a moment before it stayed back into place. The dew seeped through her shoes, her body was warm; her palms sweaty and a sincere smile growing at the girl's lips. She shut her eyes for a moment. Just listening, enjoying the sweet nothings that shivered through the leaves. A steady heart beat and she was ready for round two.

Her back arched as she threw her body from her resting branch, rolling as she hit the ground and bouncing back up to her feet as she began to increase her pace again. Kaiyo would have liked to believe that such a run heightened all of her senses and made her overly aware of the world around her; she would have been wrong. In actuality, the colourful blur than ran and leapt and bounded through the forest was far too encapsulated with a quiet joy to notice a tree falling right in front of her. So when Kaiyo's feet bounded along the un-even ground and swan dived over a bushy area, she hadn't expected to run smack into another person.

Ever the graceful party; the girl fell face first into the dirt, grazing her hands on some prickly twigs that had kindly broken her fall. Hot and sweaty, the girl sat up to more sure the other party was alright. As if her cheeks could have burned any brighter. 'Sorry! I didn't expect anyone else around' she smiled weakly, dragging herself up to her feet as she tried to wipe the dirt from her shirt; in vain. 'Are you alright?'

Shin had no clue what happened, one minute he was practicing running the next he saw a girl come flying over a bush to the right and connect with his head, throwing him off balance and he collided with a tree, then tumbling through a few bushes, leaving him in a daze with some scrapes here and there on his body. He grumbled and whimpered in pain, completely forgetting about eh girl and clutching his head as tears started to come down his cheeks, he had hit his head really hard against that tree.

The smile slipped from her face as soon as the boy started to cry. Instantly a weight hit the pit of her stomach with regret. Kaiyo staggered forwards to the boy, ignoring the large trail of mud along her back as she skidded to the ground in front of him. Her hands as steady as a beating drum, she took his palms in hers and brought them down to her lap to get a look at his wound. 'I'm so sorry, are you alright?!' Her large eyes bore into his, trying to figure out if her had brain damage or anything. To be honest it was probably unlikely, but knowing her damned luck she didn't want to just rule it out.

The awkward silence of the situation seemed to glare loudly at the girl. Her mouth hazarded a guess at what to say, opening and closing with uncertainty as she decided to just hug the guy instead. It was usually a fail-safe anyway. The girl herself could feel the heat radiation from her own body, she was a lot more tired than she realised and the humidity hidden between the greenery was starting to get to her. 'Erm...Can i do anything to help? Or make it up to you?' she muttered feebly, withdrawing from her embrace.

Shin was still grabbing his head and crying when the girl came over and asked him if he was alright, of course he wasn't he was clutching his head and crying, his head throbbing pain. Then she took his hands off his head and looked at it then looked at him for a while as he whimpered and tried to fight back the tears, when she suddenly reached out and hugged him to her chest. It was warm and comforting to shin, who had always had to be tough and was always on his own, it helped him calm down as he took some gasping breaths and pulled himself together, sniffling and holding back the tears as she released her embrace. He sniffled once more and wiped the tears and dirt off his face and onto his sleeves. She asked if she could do anything to help or make it up to him. He sniffled again as his head throbbed as the pain started to subside. He thought about what she had said for a moment and just said, "Food, food would be okay." He sniffled again and stood up, biting back the pain and looking himself over, he had little scratches all over and was all muddy now.

The blue haired girl cocked her head to one side. That was definitely not the answer she'd been expecting but she did offer anything, so she was probably being let off easily with such an answer. Kaiyo stood up, brushing down her clothes as her gritty hands smeared more mud along her shorts. What a pointless exercise. Even better was her nervous disposition to run her hand through her hair, a single twig remained in the blue locks. Kaiyo didn't notice so much as mind, no amount of twigs could make her look any worse right now.

Inhaling slowly she slumped her shoulders down on the exhale. 'Heh. Food I can do, you know anywhere nearby?' Exhausted as she was, Kaiyo could still muster a soft voice, especially when she was trying to gain favour from the injured party. Kaiyo managed a mildly awkward half turn before pausing; her foot still hovering in the air before she turned back with a more serious expression. It didn't last long though. Her flushed cheeks tinted a deeper shade of red as she spoke. 'Erm, sorry, what did you say your name was?' She'd never found a comfortable way to ask a person their name, so the politeness marker usually helped.

Shin looked up at the girl, and she was even muddier than he was, and he was pretty muddy now. she was trying to clean herself off a little but only succeeded in getting herself dirtier. She accepted the offer of buying food though looking at himself now he wanted a bath too. The girl asked him what his name was.

He looked up at her with mud on him, sniffled and said, "My name is Shin." The pain in his head was starting to subside, but he knew that if he touched it it would hurt. He started walking towards the girl, she was really really dirty, he glanced down at himself, holding his arms out for better self inspection, he was really dirty too. "I need a bath, you do too." He looked up at her expectantly, waiting for her to say something. Suddenly he heard a large rustling noise behind him and spun around to look, after seeing nothing and glancing around a bit more he turned back to the girl, who was no longer there. He glanced around for her but she was nowhere to be found. He looked for a while longer and then decided to go home as he had a vicious headache.
