Rei and Roun tunneled through the sand effortlessly. Of the many ways hollows could travel this was one of the safer methods. The sand shielded the lesser creatures' spiritual power it could do the same for others. If the creature knew how to suppress it's power the sand would work it's magic in their favor. Granting the lucky hollow a stress free journey. Unfortunately this wasn't something the twin headed hollow enjoyed. Rei was itching for something to occupy it's time and yet there was nothing. It was hungry, but it had stopped to eat not an hour ago. Stopping too frequently might give away it's position. At least that was what Moldale had warned it. As it's body burrowed through the desert it's minds began to wonder.
"Why the hell do I have to do this?" Rei grumbled. It put more effort into digging hoping to speed up it's journey, but that was the case. The sand pushed around them and their pace only increased by a narrow margin. It wasn't efficient, but Rei was getting angry with all this work. Of course this boredom also stemmed from the fact it's eye was closed during this whole trip. Roun acted as the navigator. While the twin focused on the spritual power Rei did all the digging. They couldn't switch only because Rei was terrible at spiritual sense. Even Moldale didn't know that. Since only Rei could talk he took credit for practically everything. It won't admit that Roun was the brains. The very thought made the creature angry. Worst yet the fact that everything it was thinking was relayed to Roun. They were two different minds, and yet not. To any shinigami they would be a marvel of hollow biology. Was it a single mind linked via telepathy or some other strange reason for the dual consciousness? Had he once been twins? What exactly could make such a beast? The world would never know. Not like Rei would ever let a shingamai live long enough to even consider those questions. Grumbling more Rei continued to work, his boredom growing by the second.

It was nearly an hour before the hunger he felt could not be denied. It was time to eat. Roun soundlessly agreed. Rei didn't even have to ask, as it's twin began to sift through the many signals for adequate prey. Indeed this is something that the other head excelled at. Rouns detection ability almost worked like sonar. It was able to pick things up much better than most. In moments it had found a cluster of hollows not far from their path. Rei shifted directions and headed for them keeping it's power as low as possible. Groups of hollows weren't that rare in Hueco Mundo. Sometimes the smarter creatures would form packs to hunt and survive together. Most didn't last that long as they became prey to the larger and more powerful groups. But that was to be expected. Here only the strong survive. If the group couldn't stand up to another group it was going to fail in the long run. As Rei drew closer Roun signaled for him to stop. The sibling's information moved straight into his brain. The cluster was a group of 5 hollows, but from the looks of things 4 of them were attacking one of them. The formation they had was almost that of surrounding a cornered animal. Rei was all for eating them all, but if watched them he might get an idea of what kind of fight he was in for. Slowly Rei pushed his head up through the sand. It's massive head barely breached the surface and it's singe eye opened. It had come up within a dune, perfect camouflage. It's spiritual power still hidden it gaze out in the direction of the group. Although it had only one eye it had nearly perfect vision. The half mile felt like he was watching from barely 30ft away. He could see they had cornered a four legged beast. Rei snickered and settled in to watch the show.

Vikaz ran through the desert, being followed by 4 other hollow, they had been tracking him for a while now and he had gotten fed up of being hunted and stopped and stood his ground. The other hollows dashed around him, surrounding him. They were weak, at least compared to Vikaz, but together they were stronger, he glanced around himself, looking at each of the hollows. He knew that it would be best for him to go on the offencive. He grew spikes from his bones, covering himself in sharp thorns and transforming his tail into a sharp mace. He leapt towards one of the hollow in front of him, swinging around to bring his tail to bear, the hollow leapt into the air over him towards his companions as they ran forward.

However Vikaz knew that the hollow could not dodge midair and fired most of his spikes in a spray at the airborne hollow, impaling it multiple times, it landed in a bloodly heap next to its compatriots, attempted to get up and collapsed on the ground, unmoving. The other three paused for a moment and one of them roared and they all rushed towards him. He spun around, lengthening his tail and growing spikes along it, and whipped he tail around at them like a spiked whip. The first one leapt in the air as a dodge and the second turned and caught his tail in it's mouth, as the third maintained it's charge. He was now facing backwards towards the enemy. Thinking quickly he leapt backwards toward the one holding his tail, retracting his tail and growing spikes out of it. He heard a roar of pain as one of the spikes pierced the eye of the one holding his tail, freeing himself. He landed on the ground in the midst of them all, the one that had leapt now landing on the ground and charging forward towards him along with the one he had dodged by going into the air.

He retracted his tail back to its normal size and whipped spikes towards the one he lept over and charged the other one as the wounded one wailed in pain. He sidestepped it and whipped it's tail toward it's face, but that was a feint, his jaws connected solidly on the hollow's neck, crunching down with all his might as he severed the head from the shoulders. His stalling tactic had been useful and he had wounded the last unharmed one with his spikes. It charged forward towards him in a fit of rage and pain as the one who lost it's eye began to run away. He dodged to the side and knocked it into the air with his tail, quickly extending his tail and wrapping it around the hollow now suspended into the air, he grew spikes out forcefull, impaling it all over and it gave one last cry as it went limp. He flung it to the side with his tail, the hollow leaving a long bloody streak across the light sand.

He looked at the last hollow, now running away, and decided that not even it would escape his wrath, he stuck his tail into the sand and lengthened it towards where the last one was attempting to get away, Vikaz now noticed that it had a shard of his bone in it's leg and couldn't move very well, either way it was time to end this, he could feel the sand displacing above his tail where the hollow's feet hit the ground. He thrust up with his tail impaling the last hollow then growing spikes from inside it's body until the poked out from it's flesh, then he grew spikes on those. The hollow screeching in agony as the spikes ripped through its insides, then he fired all the spikes he had grown inside, creating a bloody explosion of flesh and bone as it detonated. He then quickly retracted his tail and looked around to confirm that the first one was indeed dead, crushing it's head in his jaws.

From the distance Rei watched the rather bloody show. He did expect for the hollow being chased to put up some fight, he hadn't expected a completely one sided battle. His hunger was quickly forgotten as he got drawn up into the spectacle of the spike using creature's fight. Were the other four really that weak, or was the dog hollow that much stronger. No, it had to be something else. That thing that Moledale was always going on about. Rather than dwell on that thought Rei was content to continue watching the rest of the battle unfold. The others really were out classed. If they couldn't handle such a beast they were going to be killed by a greater prey sooner or later. It was fortunate they met their end by the dog hollow. Rei would have eaten them alive both literally and figuratively. The serpentine head smiled as another creature was skewered by spikes. He had to admit the hollow reminded him of when he had first met Moledale. Back then Rei and Roun were the ones receiving a beating from the deceptively small hollow.
For twin headed beast that was a fond of a memory it had. The rest were nothing but a series of massacres.

At this time Vikaz was finishing up the last of his pursuers. Now the dog beast was making sure they didn't have time to regenerate from their wounds.
"Alright, he's done with them." Rei said aloud. "Even if he's not tired, we know enough about how he fights. Since he strong enough to take on four, he'll make a better snack than they would." Roun gave a mental nod as it's brother's head sank back under the sands. Like a submarine their whole body dove deep into the sand as they moved toward their target. They were already keeping their energy low, but the white sand's minute ambient energy was more than enough to completely hide their presence. The distance between them and the target faded rather quickly as through the white desert like water.
He should be right above us Rei signaled as they drew to a stop. Roun took only a moment to confirm the target's position. The were close, less than twelve feet. While they couldn't see for sure Roun could approximate the location. Slowly they shifted forward a couple of feet then stopped. Now they were ready as the others' spiritual signal was right above them. Both heads moved slowly apart positioning themselves on either side. Then like a rocket both head shot up and out of the sand. They emerged, as planned, with Vikaz between them. Both heads rose up and over the small beast. The two long necks where similar to trees as they stood firmly out of the sand, their body still hidden beneath. Rei's eye was the first to lock upon the dog. His mouth opened and a greenish yellow liquid sprayed down. Roun opened it's mouth as well, but instead of a green liquid from it's mouth came a nearly clear translucent substance. The oily substance was sprayed around the dog to cut off it's avenues of escape.
