On the verge of dying, he trudged along, his footsteps dragging. Of course, he wasn't literally dying, but Kaoseu felt he would if he didn't find something to entertain himself quickly. Up here in the desert of Hueco Mundo, very few Hollows roamed about. Most of them preferred to stay under the sand, in the Menos Forest, where they could devour other Hollows in the hopes of attaining greater power and becoming Espada. Sadly, none of the Hollows in the Desert were strong enough to create a Garganta he could use to escape this desolate place, and he had no communication with Soul Society either, so he couldn't get a senkaimon gate opened, even if he wanted to. Sighing heavily, he looked up at the sky, which, in the extended time he had been here, had not darkened or brightened at all, and thought heavily. Then it hit him, almost literally, as Heiwa abruptly shook him internally, as if trying to get his attention. In his mind, he heard the cold, dual voice of the Inner Hollow,

"C'mon, ya got a bit more smarts than that, dontcha? Yer a Hollow, and a higher caliber one, thanks ta my handy work. A Garganta is cake ta handlin' me, so c'mon, ya got the balls to try, or ya gonna sit there and be a little pus-"

Kaoseu, tired of hearing the pest, quickly forced him back down. He did, however, take notice of his words. However much he didn't want to admit it, Heiwa was right. He should be completely capable of creating a Garganta, so why not try it out? He thought back to the time when he had met Ayame, and had been taken through one, and the feeling he got from it, and, at the same time, from Ayame. He pulled down his mask, focusing on that feeling, as if Ayame had opened up a piece of himself, willing it to a location of his desire. Kaoseu was attempting to replicate that now, focusing on his room in the squad 7 barracks. After several minutes, every one of which was in vain, Kaoseu's head felt as if it would split open from such concentration.

Not one to give up easily, he sat down, cross legged, almost as if about to enter a Jinzen state, and cleared his mind completely. After 5 more minutes of meditation, Kaoseu slowly opened himself up, allowing himself only to think about the first place that came to mind. As if it had been waiting for this, the cemetery where he had last seen Kaika shot into his mind. The connection with the place was obvious, and he could even remember the sights and smells of it, the feeling it always had, that biting cold of winter. He felt his heart pounding, and it gave an extended, single beat, pressing against his chest until he thought it would burst through, and when it felt like it was about to, something pressed from him, directly from his chest, it seemed. His heart continued beating now at a regular pace, and slowly, he opened his eyes.

Sitting before him, in all of it's Hollow-esque glory, was a Garganta. He could feel it in the air, and noticed it didn't feel like a normal Hollow's Garganta. It had more substance to it, and less of a violent sensation. It sat there, open, for a little, and in the not-too-far-off distance, Kaoseu heard the shriek of several Hollows, who obviously sensed an open Garganta. Kaoseu cursed to himself, and saw the first, a long legged cheetah-looking Hollow careening over the dunes, approaching at an insane pace.

Quickly, he dove through the Garganta, coming out in the cemetery. With a gasping sense of horror, he realized he had had no time to learn to close the damned thing. Cursing loudly, he got to his feet, pulling his blades as he did, thinking quickly, processing at a mile a minute. Apparently, the cheetah Hollow had been running the same pace, as it suddenly leaped through the steadily open gate, and directly into the awaiting blades of the white-haired Shinigami. He knew he somehow had to close his heart off from the gate, but it was that part that had him stumped.
He always had his heart closed, to everything, so with it now open, he didn't know how to close it. The only thing he could think of was to focus on fighting any Hollows that came through. In time, his instincts would kick back in, and he'd be able to close the gate. However, that didn't take long, as Heiwa suddenly forced his way to the top, Kaoseu having completely forgotten he was under the influence of his mask.

"Watch an' learn, bub." said the bi-vocal voice as Kaoseu's blades became whirling columns of biting metal in his hands that were no longer his for the time being. Several Hollow jumped through at that moment and were basically pureed in the whirlwind. Then, sensing the lack of Hollow on the other side of the Garganta, Heiwa could be felt pouring his will for the gate to close out, which, from the feeling, was quite simple, by Kaoseu's standards. Heiwa laughed, feeling Kaoseu's interest and understanding now.

"Aw, so ya get it now? 'Cause next time, I'm not gonna save yer ass, so ya can just go fu-"

Before he had a chance to finish, Kaoseu had taken back control of his hands and smashed his mask. It fell apart into tiny pieces that disintegrated in the air, flying off in the wind. With not just one, but two new-found abilities under his belt, he felt he was another step higher up the ladder. Silently, he opened up a Garganta to his room in his barracks, and stepped through, sealing it instantly as he got to the other side. He fell on his bed, exhausted, and was out within moments, mind dreaming of things to come.
