Kuro looked at the web, nervous. What can I do? What can I do? If I use any offensive kidou to burn or destroy it... I would still continue to fly at me... No matter what I am screwed... Bind with Destruction... Kuro smiled, "That is it! Oh the crescent moon of the lunar eclipse, where one of the purist of light and the shadows of darkness, show me your holy light! Way of Destruction #21 White Lunar Spear Shot!" A white orb formed in both of Kuro's hands. Kuro threw the first one in the air, and as it began to resemble the moon he started to throw the second. The first ball shot down in the form of a spear of reiastu pinning down the web on the ground before it captured Kuro. The second formed and shot directly at Ryouta. "Heh... I did not think I could find my way out of that mess...." Kuro said with a smirk.

Ryouta sidestepped the spear of reiatsu and allowed it to hit the shell barrier. His voice sounded weirdly echo-y from behind the shell. "Bakudo no Sanjuyo: Bond of Black Chains!" Chains erupted from Ryouta's right fist and wrapped around the shell barrier. "I may not look it...but I'm pretty strong," Ryouta called. "Watch out!"

The shell barrier tore out of the ground, and Crowe saw Ryouta twirling the makeshift chain mace around his head with a single arm. "Hado no Juichi: Tsuzuri Raiden!" The entire thing glowed with electricity. Ryouta smiled and whirled it at high speed toward Kuro. He then jumped up into the air and brought it over his head to come smashing down at him.

Kuro dropped onto his back and held up his fore arms and shins. "May the bucklers of the Holy Knight grace my forearms! May the boots of ten tons grace my feet! May these Angel's Arms hold me in my place so I may stand steady against all odds! Way of bindings #7 Steadfast!" Kuro poured extra energy into the spell, so instead of just looking like a protective layer it was bucklers on both his forearms and shins. The big electrified shield crashed down on the barrier. Kuro tried his best to hold up the Shield, ignoring the small shocks from the electricity. When he could feel that the shield had stopped, he rolled over causing the giant shield to crash on the ground next to him. "Way of Binding #8 Repulse!" Kuro formed the golden shield and charged Ryouta with it.

Ryouta smiled and yanked. The shell barrier came hurtling back toward him and crashed into Crowe. Crowe was sent flying through the air. "Bakudo no Sanjunana: Tsuriboshi!" Ryouta's Suspending Star technique caught Crowe and prevented further injury. "Okey-doke, ya were doin' okay before ya charged me and disregarded somethin' that was still a threat," admonished Ryouta. "But otherwise it was alright, I guess. What didja intend to do with that shield of yours though? I'm curious."

Kuro smiled, "As soon as I was close range, blast a 36 pound cannon sending the shield at an unblockable speed... Though I was waiting for you to get close." Kuro shrugged, "Just wondered if it would work. Apparently not. " Kuro was stuck, restrained. He was waiting to be released.

"Hado no Sanjuichi: Shakkaho." Ryouta used the fire spell to blast the shell off of Crowe; it landed some distance away. "I think it's time we changed the environment- follow me." Ryouta led Crowe to the city replica portion of the training grounds.

"Dodge or deflect. Hado no Yojuni: Avalanche!" Chunks of the buildings and structures around Crowe broke off (seemingly inexplicably) and began raining down at him.

(Kidou)

Kuro looked around at the pieces of building that were flying around him. He clapped his hands together and yelled. "Destruction! Surround my body! Send any around me to the realm of the the unconscious, where dreams do not reach! Way of Destruction #20 White Crawl!" The white barrier of reiastu formed around Kuro incinerating the pieces of building that hit it. Kuro held the barrier until the storm of debris ended. Kuro dropped the barrier and began breathing heavily.

Ryouta faced Crowe. "OK, hang on a sec. Bakudo no Nijuku: Royal Medicine." He healed Crowe so he would feel in tip top shape again, more or less. "Now I want ya to try to hit me with a spell or whatever, k?" Ryouta began flash stepping around all over the place, behind Crowe, above him, to the side. He pushed off of buildings and arched his back, bent every single joint, spun like a top.

He was never in one place for very long, and as such, this would make an excellent exercise for Crowe. As 2nd Squad Vice-Captain, it took a lot for him to get out of breath. He was hoping that Crowe would prove to be something of a challenge.

Ryouta stepped onto the training grounds and looked around. There were few people around at the time as it was early morning- the people that were there looked at him in surprise, as he was rarely seen here. Their surprise turned to awe and just a touch of fear as they saw that he was being accompanied by the Captain herself, who was shorter than him, but seemed to pulse with power and energy. They were here for training, obviously. She had decided that he needed to spend more time here.

They walked to opposite sides of an open field about a football field in size. They turned to face each other, and Ryouta saw his Captain's eyes narrow. Time to go, he thought in response. She flash stepped in front of him with blinding speed and swung a fist at his head. Ryouta ducked and turned, sweeping his leg out in an attempt to trip her. She flash stepped above him and came down at him with both hands clasped together like a club; Ryouta dived out of the way, and her blow hit the ground, actually forming a small crater where she hit.

Ryouta sucked on the metal toothpick he had in his mouth pensively as they circled each other. My defense...is passable, he thought. I should take the offensive. Ryouta flash stepped towards her and aimed a punch at her shoulder; she rolled it back and it glanced off. Undeterred, Ryouta used his other arm's elbow to strike at her face while he pulled back his fist. She pulled her head back, and Ryouta performed a flawless backflip, he landed and balanced on his outstretched hand and swung himself down and around, aiming another sweeping kick at her legs.

His Captain jumped and flash stepped behind him and kicked him in the small of his back, sending him tumbling through the dirt. He stood up and looked at his Captain, and then drew both of his Zanpakuto. "A flash of lightning, the sound of drops, falling amongst the bamboos. Raikou Arashi!" The blades lengthened to become a pair of hook swords. He ran forward towards her, and uttered, "Shuurai!" Both of his blades glowed yellow, and he sent twin arcs of electricity flying toward his Captain.

She flash stepped forward and up, bypassed them, and brought her katana across his two blades, pushing him back a little with the force of her blow. That few seconds when their blades were connected was enough. Ryouta twisted his wrists and hooked the hooks of his swords around the length of her katana, locking them together. He kicked out instantly, and his right foot connected with her soft gut, sending her sliding back, slightly winded.

"Not bad," she complimented him. "But that won't work again." She flash stepped towards him and slashed at him; Ryouta sidestepped and aimed a retaliatory strike of his own with his left blade, she jumped back to avoid a cut on her chest. Ryouta continued his assault and took advantage of the fact that he had two blades by doubling the number of attacks he could put out. His slashes were aimed at all of her vital parts; not organs, but tendons and ligaments.

Sweat poured down his forehead and coated his arms as he continued his onslaught. It was beginning to wear on him though; his arms were beginning to feel heavier. "Todoroke!" he said, and used the solidified air to push his Captain back so he could have a moment's reprieve. She flew back, and then vanished. A flash step! Ryouta turned just in time to get a kick in his temple, which made his head swim and sent him crashing to the ground.

"Same time, same place, tomorrow," she said, and walked off the field.

Ryouta walked onto the training grounds the next morning, and found his Captain already there. She was watching the sunrise with her back to him. "You're late," she said without turning around.

"Sorry," he apologized. "My alarm didn't go off, I swear." She flash stepped and brought her katana down at his left shoulder. Ryouta snapped his right blade up and blocked her sword just inches from his shoulder. He then rolled his shoulder back so that she would come down to the ground; he kicked dirt up into her face. But she flash stepped before the dirt could reach her face, and appeared behind him in a Senka maneuver.

Ryouta was forced to flash step himself, and appeared several tens of feet above her. He drew his left blade and then released them both to Shikai; they curved into his signature hook swords. She flash stepped up to meet him and swung at him horizontally. Ryouta blocked the swing with his left sword, and then slashed at her with his right. She jumped backward to avoid the attack, and then aimed a stab at his left elbow.

Ryouta muttered, "Todoroke," and caused her blade to shift a little so it missed, and seized the opportunity to aim a lightning fast slash at her while she was exposed. His blade appeared to slice right through her, but then! Her image faded. "Utsusemi!" he gasped in surprise as he whirled to face her incoming vertical slash. Ryouta crossed his blades and parried the forceful strike, and then twisted his blades around to hook his swords to hers.

This time though, she actually let go of her sword and flash stepped, appearing behind him and aiming a kick at the small of his back. Ryouta was forced to drop her sword and turn to face her. She flash stepped away from his responding slashes and appeared just below her falling sword, catching it easily. "I told you that wouldn't work again," she said.

"Worth a shot!" he replied cheekily. Ryouta flash stepped down to meet her, shouting "Shuurai!" as he came down. Both of his blades glowed yellow and released twin blasts of electricity. His Captain caught them both on her sword, and slashed down, causing them to dissipate. Ryouta closed the gap between the two of them and began aiming slash after slash at her; first at her shoulders, then at her thighs, then at her elbows, always changing targets in a random, erratic fashion.

"Ha!" she yelled, and struck out low at his legs. Ryouta's blades went down in a cross-down parry, once again catching her blade in between his hooks. The standard response would be then to let her go and resume fighting, but instead, Ryouta seized the opportunity to kick her in the face.

"I toldja so," he said smugly as she slid backward, her nose bleeding freely, and her lip torn slightly. "Shuurai!" he sent several more blasts of electricity at her. She flash stepped away to avoid them and came in at his side. Ryouta twisted and blocked the attack with the hooks of his swords, and then turned on the offensive himself, aiming 'Shuurai' enhanced blows at her as fast as he possibly could.

His glowing yellow blades were a blur as he hammered away at her defenses; nearly none of his cuts got through, and the ones that did landed only minor to light hits. And his frenzied attack came at a cost- he was definitely getting tired. She exploited that perfectly. As he slashed at her, his fatigue caused him to unconsciously slash out farther than he should have. She seized the opportunity, grabbed his arm and pulled him forward, making the length of his blades useless. She then, quick as a flash, sucker punched him in his carotid artery, knocking him out instantly and sending him plummeting to the ground. Before she left, she left a note on his prone form that said, "same time, same place. tomorrow."

to Ryouta

Kuro stepped out onto the training grounds in the early afternoon. Other members were all around engaging in various sparring matches. Kuro calmly whistled to get their attention. All stopped what they were doing and turned their attention towards him. He spoke with a minor level of authority since the captain was not around at the moment.

"I am in need of some practice today and would like all of you to engage me in combat. Use of zanpakutos in this exercise will be prohibited. Come at me with your fists, your spells, and most befitting of our squad...your speed. Whenever you are ready."

The members seemed wary at first. Everyone in the squad knew of Kuro's sharp wit in battle, and the power of his zanpakuto. His accomplishment in Hueco Mundo had brought his skills to the attention of even the noble Shihoin family that their squad served. But then they realized that Kuro had said that zanpakutos would not be used. That thought gave them a sliver of hope and they began to organize all around Kuro as he stood in the center of the main sparring ground. His analyzing battle glare came to face as he smirked at the turnout. He counted about 20 other squad members all around him. Showtime...

The squad members came at Kuro in waves, beginning with five quick footed warriors on his left. He side stepped the charge of the first two that reached him, jumped up and off of the head of the third and flared his reiatsu to give his body a small boost that allowed him to catch the fists of the last two. "Tsk, tsk...not good enough." he taunted with a mocking grin. His smile disappeared though as he was struck from behind by three crimson strike hados. It wasn't a high level spell, but three of them together caused a nasty burn on his back. He turned towards the casters that had taken advantage of the diversion caused by the attackers. With a short shunpo, he brought himself into their midst and punched one in the stomach so hard that he gasped in agony and passed out on the ground. The other two tried to get away, but Kuro snapped out both his arms and grabbed them by their arms. Twirling on the spot, he heaved and tossed them both out of the ring to the edge of the training grounds.

Leaving him no time after the kido casters to catch his breath, a lone fighter approached him directly. He was both strong and fast, and his strikes came with precision aim at Kuro's vital spots. Kuro had to dodge constantly for many seconds until he saw an opening in the man's defense and horizontally chopped at his throat. The man gagged from the strike and sank to the ground as Kuro turned towards the remaining fighters. Their sliver of hope was beginning to fade as they saw Kuro's skill and the fear and respect they had for him was reinforced. It was hard to believe that he was only the fourth seat of the squad. Kuro grinned until he was caught in a hold from behind by a burly member of the squad who pinned his arms to his side. Most of the remaining opponents rushed in to take advantage, slugging Kuro's stomach repeatedly. He winced in pain and annoyance, and concentrated his reiatsu. Their tactic had been effective, but they had overlooked his small talent with kido.

"Hado #20: White Crawl!" A burst of energy stunned the fighters surrounding Kuro and knocked them out. He shook the passed out body of the squad member holding him off and faced the five remaining members that had been smart enough to hold back and think of the situation. He squated down, planting his hands against the dirt ground and cast, "Bakudo #21: Red Smoke Escape!" A cloud of red smoke burst from Kuro's position and blanketed the ring. Kuro masked his reiatsu and began to dash in circles around the remaining opponents. They were all on edge, wondering where he was.

Weak...cowardly...they shame our force with their timidness...I'll have to fix that at a later date. Kuro sped up his dashing with shunpo and zigzagged through their group unseen in the smoke. Each time he passed, he dropped another member of the group with a well aimed kick or punch in vital spots. As the smoke finally cleared, the last opponent fell with a thud. Kuro wiped his face which was drenched with sweat. He had fought harder than necessary against them, running faster than needed. But if he didn't give his best, then he wouldn't be setting a good example for them. He walked out of the training grounds leaving them to get over their humiliation and do something about it so that the next time he came, they wouldn't be so easily defeated.
