Shikyo smiled slightly as Kaiyo managed to survive his attack, throwing his arms over his face as the blast from his kidou and Kaiyo's shikai attack collided and waves of energy surged through the air. Looking at Kaiyo it was apparent that the attack had made an impact however, and Shikyo thought that if he went on the offensive once more then he would secure victory. Her comments about his Squad reassignment delayed his actions though as he was unsure how she would react to finding out about his moving to a different squad. "It's not anything personal," he clarified. "I just feel like the 10th Squad is where I need to be for now."

As he spoke Kaiyo flash-stepped toward him, launching her Zanpakuto at him before using a second flash-step to appear behind him and activated another of her shikai's abilities. Shikyo's eyes shot open as he realized, to late, what her plan was and fell backward to the ground as the bolt of electricity surged through his body, hitting him directly in the chest. Laying on the ground as smoke escaped from his wound, he mentally cursed himself for losing focus on the fight, if only momentarily. He slowly stood up, channeling reiatsu through his hands so that the sand that now lay scattered across the arena hovered above him once more and his Zanpakuto was recalled to his hand.

Twirling the blade as he looked forward he realized that his spiritual pressure was dwindling, having used such an intense kidou and then allowing Kaiyo's attack to land had taken its toll. He could press on for a little longer but if he didn't think of something soon, he wouldn't have the strength to continue the fight. Building his remaining reiatsu as he allowed it to flow freely from his body and into Miku, he could feel the high-pitched hum of her vibrations that indicated how much she wanted to attack Kaiyo's Zanpaukto. He stood for a moment, allowing his spiritual energy to build until it reached its peak, the force of his reiatsu causing the arena to shake, before he launched himself toward Kaiyo intending to use the built up power in his blade in one final slicing attack.

Kaiyo couldn't help herself smiling as her attack landed directly on Shikyo's chest. This was the second time they had sparred and Kaiyo was starting to worry; his skill had increased dramatically and her was relatively the same, biting her lips slightly Kaiyo was still unsure about her secret weapon; she didn't want to cause any sever damage; and with her attack things could easily end badly.

Giggling slightly as Shikyo's reiatsu rose, 'No i don't take it personally at all; you gotta do what you love'. The arena floor started to shake as Shikyo's spiritual pressure continued to rise; understanding the slight panic of the situation Kaiyo knew he'd have one hit to make or break the fight. Her eyes staring straight ahead she tried to guage how badly her stomach had been hurt, she'd say a 8/10 on the pain scale; closely behind taking a cero straight on.

Kaiyo guessed she had about five seconds to react, millions of thoughts rushed through her mind at once. Kaiyo was unsure how badly she wanted to hurt Shikyo, or how badly he wanted to hurt her. Kaiyo knew Tenrai Zenpyou was still quite eager for a big attack but she also knew her body wasn't up to releasing her Bankai and she wasn't practised enough in it to control it effectively. These we just a few of the thoughts that glanced through the girl's head; one thought however did make a lot of sense. If you just want to block the attack you have to at least match the power he's putting in.

5 seconds; Kaiyo was sure if she managed to pull this off it would be some sort of record. Sliding one foot in front of the other Kaiyo's face lost her smile as her eyes began to stare blankly through her serene face. Concentrate! Concentrate!. Energy flowing heavily around the girl she forced it all out, raising her energy level to as high as they would go and even further, 'I need your help!' Kaiyo called to her sword. Tenrai and Zenpyou appeared vaguely in front of the girl; it was only outlines but she could tell. Her face still stern with concerntration the lion spoke to her, 'Very well Kaiyo'. The blue energy that cascaded around the girl swung round at intense speeds as her Zanpaktou began to glow brightly: releasing more energy to the girl, '2 seconds' she called to herself. Her headband flicking under the pressure behind her, tightly gripping her sword Kaiyo let the golden energy flow through her arms and all around her body. '1 second' she called.

Kaiyo moved her Zanpaktou to block the attack, her own energy practically throwing itself through the tip of her blade; eyes glowing a golden yellow tinge slightly Kaiyo knew this would be the end of the fight, no matter the outcome she wouldn't be able to continue after this.

Shikyo charged forward, refusing to hesitate even as he felt Kaiyo raising the level of her own spiritual pressure. Using a shunpo to close the distance at the last second Shikyo arched the blade over his head, swinging it as fast and with as much strength as he could muster upon the vice-captain.

The result of the two reiatsu powered blades colliding against each other sent a massive shock wave through the arena, disentigrating the little portion that was left. It was a battle of spirit power against spirit power and try as he might, despite his will to win and the strength in his sword he knew that he was outclassed in this area.

As the bright golden light that surrounded the pair subsided, Shikyo fell to his knees collapsing from exhaustion.

Kaiyo felt the beads of sweat form at her forehead; Shikyo had a hell of a lot of power behind his attack and Kaiyo was struggling to keep her Zanpaktou straight. The two enery's exploded togetehr and destroyed the remainder of the sparring arena; Kaiyo was fairly certain it had also managed to spill over to the other nearby arena's.

The air hung heavy with reiatsu and Kaiyo stumbled forward after Shikyo had feel; Kaiyo tried to lean on her Zanpaktou but the sudden release of her energy had left her exhausted. Kaiyo fell to the ground a few seconds after Shikyo; her breathing heavy and sharp as she lay there for a while with her eyes shut.

Kaiyo woke up what she guessed was only a few hours later; her stomach rumbled with hunger as she looked around, her Zanpaktou lay on the ground next to her ; and next to that was Shikyo. Kaiyo's mind raced back to their very strenuous battle; still short of breath Kaiyo decided she'd wait for Shikyo. Sheathing back her Zanpaktou slowly Kaiyo practically fell back down in complete exhaustion. Her muscles felt weak and Kaiyo wasn't sure she would be able to stand even if she tried. Instead she decided rest was better; making a conscious effort to stay awake Kaiyo simply stared up at the sky and rested.

Shikyo's eyes squinted as he winced in pain. His entire body ached as if he had been caught in the path of a freight train. Opening his eyes as he looked around him, the tattered mess of the arena reminded him of the battle he'd just been through. Picking up his Zanpakuto he sealed it back in its emerald casing before sheathing it on his back.

Looking around as he remained seated he saw Kaiyo lying a few feet away from it. The match had been more intense than he anticipated it would be, but he should have known that it would escalate. "How's it going over there?" He called. "Are you alive?"

kaiyo rolled over at the sound of Shikyo's voice, grinning she replied, 'yeah i'm alive; you?' she giggled slightly. Kaiyo had been resting for quite a while; the ruined arena around them had been quite a good spot to just lay and contemplate her thoughts.

Kaiyo paused before moving; trying to both enjoy her last bit of relaxation and trying to anticipate the weakness she would feel upon movement. Kaiyo had become unfortuantely, quite accustomed to pain. So upon her slow but steady rise to her feet Kaiyo's face remained a sweet smile, despite the fact that her muscles felt like jelly. Holding out her hand to help Shikyo up Kaiyo's eyes glimmered slightly in the sun; like blue crytsal's shining in water.

The plan so far was to some how hobble back to her room; and sleep for a year, dependant on paperwork.
