Kaiyo's tragic death Empty
PostSubject: Kaiyo's tragic death   Kaiyo's tragic death I_icon_minitimeFri Dec 03, 2010 8:04 am

The idea had been a quick one. A snap decision one might say. Perhaps it's basis had been less than adept, but in Kaiyo's mind the links of events and her conclusion had made perfect sense. After the latest term of paperwork had been piled into her office; Kaiyo had decided to go out for a walk...

The glazed over eyes of the body lay motionless as the flickering lights grew nearer, dancing along her skin and up to the pupils. Void of life. The area around the charred body was destroyed beyond recognition, a maelstrom of energy lingering in the ashen air. That honour given which the lowliest might proclaim, unjustly held by such a girl. The war-torn arena of a battle one might assume and yet, for Kaiyo, the story was somewhat different.

Living long in combat and pleasing the hierarchy that she once served. The burnt and still body of the 11th squad captain remained on the ground. A trail of blood splattered from her body, tracing along the cuts and gashes on her body. Her one weakness, no hard question to anyone. The 11th squad captain less than skilled in the craft of kidou had seemingly killed herself with a practice shot? An odd conclusion to make and yet for the initial recovery team that buzzed and crunched through the collapsed buildings to the small girl's body. It made perfect sense.

'Sir! Our analysis confirmed the large fluctuation in reiatsu was a Kidou spell cast by Captain Kaiyo, judging by the energy particles that have remained, it was Hado 91, an un-controlled usage by the looks Sir. The Captain...No longer breathing'. The uniformed men glanced down to the smouldering body, turning away in sadness as more people began to arrive. The girl's own squad members had noticed the large flair in their Captains spiritual energy that had swept like a wave across Soul Society. Alerting most emergency forces to the Captain's area.

A bitter chill swept through the rubble, picking up smaller pebbles and rattling them along the scorched earth. The crowds had begun to gather, and rumours spread as Kaiyo Saiyouko was announced dead.

--------------------------

*One hour before*

Kaiyo dragged her gigai further into the area. It was crowded enough to make a massive explosion and not hurt anyone else. In the middle of Sereitei and with the perfect nearby hiding place. At first glance, the girl dragged the limp body of Kaiyo wouldn't seem like her, in fact, Kaiyo had changed her appearance a fair bit. Her headband gone, and donning the robes of an academy student. Her blonde hair gone, replaced by a light brown colour that hung in loose ringlets down onto her shoulders. Any trace of her reiatsu had vanished. A few previous trips to the real world had left Kaiyo fully equipped with everything she needed. Some handy fingerless gloves that suppressed her reiatsu without any trace, aside from the faint alteration that meant her spiritual energy seemed different. Effectively leaving Kaiyo dead, or MIA. That and a special gigai that had been formed to mirror the dead Captain, even offering a glimmer of her own reiatsu from it's core. Of course, it was all in he interest of science. The only true way for anyone with any remote power to go undercover to take a real look at the Soul Reaper Academy, and the increasing amounts of superhumans. Very few people knew of this mission. The central 46 had of course been consulted, their resigning laws had forced Kaiyo to such a decision, because being killed for faking her death was just a bit too ironic. Her acting Vice Captain, who would take over her role during her leave of absence. Adding in the high chances that the 12th division and 2nd division Captains probably already knew; Kaiyo felt safe in her new plan.

The short girl dropped the fully robed Captain self to the floor. Shutting her eyes to make a quick check of the area for any lingering souls that could cause problems. The final stage was probably the hardest part of her plan. Tricking Soul Society would be easy with her seemingly gone, for the most part... Casting the kidou spell without actually killing herself was more of an issue.

Kaiyo opened her crystal blue eyes. Leaning down as her finger traced along the handle of her Zanpakuto for a second. Kaiyo rose back up to her feet, taking a short step back from her body as she clenched her fists tightly shut. Already feeling guilty for the deceit, the adrenaline of the action was starting to kick in. 'Heh, I guess it's too late to back out...' One final look down to her already battle-torn shell of a body. The murmuring traces of her spiritual energy radiating the corpse, Kaiyo looked straight ahead. Casting the spell was bad enough without having to strategically cast it badly. Still, it was to late for doubts.

'Limit of the thousands hands, respectful hands, unable to touch the darkness. Shooting hands unable to reflect the blue sky. The road that basks in light, the wind that ignited the embers, time that gathers when both are together, there is no need to be hesitant, obey my orders. Light bullets, eight bodies, nine items, book of heaven, diseased treasure, great wheel, grey fortress tower. Aim far away, scatter brightly and cleanly when fired'. The swirling golden reiatsu of the Captain exploded out around her. Jolts of lightning erupting in a vortex across the sky as Kaiyo held her stance. The shifting wind began to sweep dangerously at her foot as the sky turned darker. The first explosive spear of light shooting directly in front of Kaiyo. The others dropped quickly with a thunderous roar that light up the air. Crashing and slamming into eachother as the rumbling buildings began to topple over.

Then in a flash of light, the spears exploded. A shockwave of pure destructive power leapt through Sereitei. Jolting and sparking with golden trails that lead into the mist. Kaiyo was gone in a flash, her gloves on, and standing at the entrance of the Soul Reaper Academy. To the rest of Soul Society, Kaiyo Saiyouko was dead. For a little while at least.

Apollo was in the library late into the night, as had become habit for him as of late. His face buried into one of the books he found on Shadowhunters, though most of the books he found turned out to be nothing more than garbage this one had held his attention. “…trained from birth, the hunters made sure their kids would be able to defend themselves if the need ever arose…” Well that explains my feelings in an unfriendly environment.

Suddenly the library was filled with sounds; people were shouting and running in between the aisles. Grabbing one of the people by the collar Apollo looked at him through strained eyes. “What is going on, why all the sudden panic?” he asked with an edged voice.

“Captain Kaiyo Saiyouko, was killed just a few hours ago…” Apollo never heard what had happened to her as his mind suddenly went blank. Dead? Captain Kaiyo is dead…no this is not right, she can’t be dead…I promised her a rematch… Letting go of the shinigami’s collar Apollo stumbled back to his table, everything had been planned out, and he had the captain to thank for it…now it all just seemed worthless.

“NO, SHE CANT BE DEAD!!!” His voice was full of rage as he swept all of his paper’s books and maps off into the floor and paced back to the center of the clearing. “SHE CAN’T…be dead.” Apollo fell to his knees as tears cascaded down his cheeks, spattering the papers on the floor with them. She was one of the few I considered a friend, and just like my life before she is gone.

Remembering the words he had spoken before at the funerals of his comrades in the living world he whispered, “In sudore vultus tui vesceris pane, donec revertaris in terram de qua sumptus es: quia pulvis es et in pulverem reverteris.”

Tatsu had been in the barracks of the 4th division in a coma, or more, conversing with his zanpakuto without really knowing it himself. His reiatsu had helped alot of the people in the 4th division getting him up to his feet rather fast enough, but they still didn't know why he hadn't waken up. Time slipped and he didn't come back to himself, up until a compulsion told him to wake up. ''Wake Up'' It said in his head. ''She's in danger'' It said again, as the shinigami's eye's shot open to the surprise of the faceless shinigami beside him, and before he knew it he was already walking towards the exit of the 4th division.

He didn't really know where he was, but alot of people were running in the same direction, people murmuring about a captain's death. His mind was racing, he had no clue what was happening, he decided to follow the mass in the direction they were leading him. Seemingly leading him towards Seireitei, of course there were alot of blabering around, but Tatsu was just acting like a sheep following the flock at the moment.

Many members of many divisions were present, and other captain's tried to make people leave, as if trying to cover up something, the young man, harbouring new scars and had a bandaged hand walked forward to what seemed like a line preventing people to go further, at first sight Tatsu saw the blue bandana and looked away closing his eyes as if this wasn't possible, he took a deep breather and turned around and addressed one of the guards and pointed the roasted captain. ''She has something on her person that belongs to me'' He said passing by him as if it was his right, the guard rather flabbergasted didn't say anything. Tatsu moved forward and his heart pounded, he kneeled down beside her and removed his bandana from her forehead and tied it on ending part of his handle, he took her hands and tried to move them to her torso, when he saw something was missing, wondering how long he had been outcold, he turned around and offhandedly asked as guard what date they were.

Two days, he clearly remembers every word the captain had told him when he was unconscious, he knew it was weird but he heard her, and in two days a scar doesn't just vanish like that, without changing his attitude he stood up and walked away, after finishing positioning her hands of course. The young shinigami had a lead and he would see it through.

Shikuro was sitting in his office his eyes softly resting on the pieces of paper infront of him to many it would look like he was just normally doing his paper work and he was also suppossed to though for the past hour or so he just been sitting there staring at that piece of paper his pen swirling around his fingers, he hadn't even filled out on piece of paper in that our he had just been staring at it, not even taking his time to read the first word of it, not even sure what it was about, possibly just some report, from a squad member, possibly as poor written as it mostly was, but right now he really just couldn't care less about that, thoughts of dangers and stuff that really just could go wrong was filling up his head, not really sure weather he should feel worried or not, it was proberly not really neccesary, Yet he couldn't help but to feel, worried...

He had proberly been counting the seconds from when he started, but he couldn't help it, really. He eyes widened slightly as he felt an huge surge of Reitsu being released, he was pretty sure what it meant ofcourse he couldn't seem like that. He dropped the pencil on the table, it could be heard through the hallways, people where allready up and about on that surge, confussed, ofcourse, he would have been to his door was closed though as he felt it best that he needed to move he left the papers untouched.

After Event 0
___________

Shikuro moved about the squad making them settle down, ofcourse he put on the act as he should though he might just have seemed more confident than there was expected all in all that was just a good thing, he then moved over to the source of this surges, ofcourse he wasn't the first some squad members and even medics had got there before him.

His face turned sad, he couldn't really bare to actually look at the body, he just looked away He stood there though going through all the countermesures he needed to ofcourse many would seek him out after this, with questions both members of the squad and those of other squads, he would just stand plainly by answering his eyes not really on the persons at all he just looked away while answering, not really certain he could pull of the full act of a sad person well enough to look people in the eyes.

______________

It had been a while since Kaoseu had left his brracks. He had had no clue a Shinigami could still catch the flu. He felt much better though, and the cool night air felt great on his clammy skin. The light outside, or absence of, since it was nightfall already, was comfortable to his eyes. He inhaled deeply, closing his eyes. However, it didn't last long as he felt Reiatsu building in the air. He would have figured it a student until it peaked, and he realized it was Kaiyo's. He had the unnerving feeling something was wrong and begna Flash Stepping in the direction it was coming from. Not even one Flash Step in, he was hit by a light of a golden color so bright, he was forced to turn face and hide his eyes. He could feel the heat in the air, and cursed, ignoring the light and continuing his Flash Step now, with more urgency. He arrived at a scene of horror, and for a moment, thought he saw something flicker, but cast it from his mind as his brain registered the scene.

The ground was scorched and charred. In the center, a small figure, burned severely, lay motionlss. Kaoseu didn't want to look, but couldn't help it. Others were arriving at the scene, as Kaseu fell to his knees beside the captain's body. One of the few people he could speak with, or associate with properly, and she was gone... She couldn't have been gone so simply... It just wasn't right. From what he could tell, there was no other body, though with a Kidou as powerful as she had released, he wasn't surprised. He shut off his emotions, not wanting to feel the pain of loss as he stood. He turned around as 4th squad members arrived. He had just so happened to look down and notice two small patches on the ground in a genral oval shape, spread apart as if a small person had taken a wide set stance. However, they were too far away from the body to have belonged to it, andthat could only mean something was amiss.

His eyes narrowed as he looked at the body one last time and turned back around. He was going to find out what had happened. He carefully scuffed the marks over, so they wouldn't be found, and walked away slowly, his mind whirring a mile a minute.

Saroki was relaxing in a small tavern near the squad 11 barracks when the tragedy occured. The tavern was mostly empty except for a some few people. The whole place seemed so quiet, except for the occasional sound of someone passing by. Saroki took a drink of sake and looked out of the nearest window. Saroki breathed in deeply, letting out a sigh of boredom afterwards. The girl glanced back at her now half empty cup.

She took one last sip, then sat up from the chair. Taking one more glance around the tavern, she left. She walked at a steady pace down the dirty road, occasionally one of her steps would be slower than the last, causing a akward half-limp look. It was starting to get late, and she was heading home. It took her around an hour to finally reach her quarters; The walk was calm and pleasant, a luxury she usually didn't have. The tired girl lazily opened the door to her bedroom, closing the door behind her she stumbled into her bed. She was a little bit more than tipsy...

After Event 0

Saroki was disturbed from her sleep with the sounds of talking and footsteps, she didn't really know what was happening, nor did she care. Saroki stuffed her face into her pillow and tried to ignore the annoying sounds, but it wasn't any use. Saroki lifted her tired body up. From how she felt, she estimated she must've been asleep for a few mere minutes. Her legs felt like they were about to give, and her head...Oh God, her head; It felt like someone had hit her in the head with the world's biggest sledge hammer. Saroki looked out a nearby window, watching as a few shinigami ran by. 'Just what the hell is going on Here?!' The irritated shinigami scowled, she rubbed her head for a moment. The girl slowly walked out of the squad barracks, resolving to find the source of all this commotion. Saroki started trodding down the road where she had seen so many shinigami run down. After a few minutes of walking she started to see the shinigami disappear into the distance. 'Aw crap; Better hurry... Saroki glanced at a nearby roof, then she jumped up onto it, landing gracefully. After she regained her composure she started sprinting towards what seemed to be the center of attention. It took her awhile, but after much running she found what she was looking for...

As she started to near her target, she realised...She was heading towards the 11th squad barracks, which didn't sit well with her. She felt odd, a cold sensation filled her body, she squinted her eyes, realising that something has happened. She landed near a crowd of people that seemed to have gathered around a large blast crater. Saroki made her way through the crowd, and when she finally got a glimpse at the scene..."Oh my God..." She said with pure shock. A scorched and burnt body that could only be Kaiyo's...The small stature..The burnt haori. And not only that, this was also the captains quarters. Saroki couldn't handle it, she didn't know how to react, or what to do. She just stood there, staring at the corpse with wide eyes. "K...K...Kaiyo...-san...." Her voice drownded out in the mass of the other voices. Saroki bursted forward, running towards the corpse of Kaiyo. "KAIYO-SAN! KAIYO-SAN!!" Her voice shot out, she was soon to be stopped by a few other shinigami. She fought them, pushing and shoving, hitting, clawing, anything. But soon she was restrained after a few more shinigami arrived. "LET ME GO DAMNIT! NO! SHE'S STILL ALIVE! LET ME GO! I CAN SAVE HER!...I CAn...S...Save her!!!...." She screamed out in desperation. Her body couldn't take the stress, and she fell to her knees..

The shaken girl broke into tears, not by will. She wiped them away, but it was no use. "Kaiyo-san...You can't be gone...You can't be gone...You can't..." She looked at the corpse once again, this felt like one big horrible nightmare to her. She was overcome by sadness and anger. Kaiyo was gone. And there was nothing Saroki could do about it. Saroki stayed there for a few more minutes, grieving over Kaiyo untill a 2nd squad shinigami escorted her back to her quarters. Saroki lyed in bed, unable to sleep. Unable to think of anything else but the gruesome corpse of Kaiyo.

There was nothing she could do.

Nothing.

Kuro was seated on the walkway outside of his office, admiring the nighttime scene of the second squad's gardens. The pale moonlight shone down on the division beautifully, not giving any sign of the chaos that was to break out in a matter of hours. Kuro himself knew little of Kaiyo's plans. Though he had the patrol corps regularly monitoring the events in the Seireitei to keep his knowledge updated, it was especially difficult to spy on the happenings in Central 46. Regardless, his squad members had managed to report some events to him that arose his interest and suspicions. As he heightened his gaze towards the moon itself above the Seireitei, a light swishing sound behind him alerted him to the arrival of one of his men. Not bothering to turn around, Kuro merely questioned him while continuing his laid back lounging.

"Anything new?"

The member answered quietly and swiftly as to not let the information be overheard by anyone else, "Someone with the appearance of an academy student was seen dragging a body into the area near the 11th squad's grounds. We did not dare to get closer for fear of being detected so we don't have perfect visual confirmation. But from the size of the body and the haori it was donned in, we believe it to be the body of Captain Saiyouko."

Kuro listened to the report in silence, taking in the information. His suspicions were being aroused even further, but he couldn't talk to anyone else about them yet. His experiences had led him to keep thoughts to himself until approached by another informed individual. That way he could avoid giving information to someone it didn't belong to. He kept his back turned to the squad member, but spoke with dead seriousness in his voice.

"You are excused. Do not speak of the events you have witnessed to anyone. Inform the others who conducted this mission of my orders as well. That is all."

The squad member gave one grunt of obedience before another swish announced his departure. Kuro continued to ponder the information gathered. There was no way that Kaiyo was defeated by an academy student, but he didn't have enough leads to act upon. Now he had to do the smart thing: wait for the next move to be played. A few minutes passed before a powerful wave of energy swept through the Seireitei. Kuro stood up, recognizing the feeling of the energy. He'd fought beside and against Kaiyo enough times to know the feeling of her reiatsu. That sure wasn't a long wait....

After Event 0

__________________

Shinigami were running everywhere. Kuro even saw members of his own squad joined in the panic. From a vantage point on top of a building over the scene of the "accident" Kuro observed the events as they unfolded. Many were grieving, overflowing with sorrow or denial as to the apparent occurrence. He himself was unconvinced. His squad's reports conflicted with the way things appeared. If the student had indeed somehow overpowered Kaiyo, than where had the massive burst of her power come from after she was dead? There was more to this than what everyone was seeing.

Kuro left the scene still in thought. Maybe Ryouta would know something. He always seemed to know more than he should, though Kuro still hadn't found out how he did it. But he reminded himself that he'd have to wait until Ryouta showed signs of knowing first. He didn't want to cause trouble for Kaiyo if this was some sort of secret. He actually wondered how much of a pain he'd be himself for knowing something.

Kuro ended up back at the second squad grounds. He relaxed inside his office and listened to the sounds of everyone handling the news. Some of them weren't doing so well. He especially heard Saroki as she was brought back by another member. He didn't want to spread things further than necessary, but he didn't want Saroki to feel helpless either. He left his office and walked by the door of her quarters. Checking to make sure there weren't any other members listening, he spoke clearly enough for her to hear.

"Don't give up yet. There's a chance she's still alive."

Kuro returned to his office feeling that they couldn't get to the bottom of this fast enough.

Kuroi felt the flash of reiatsu... It was kaiyo's correspondingly he saw a blade of light streak in the sky...

Nothing, not a tell tale flicker of her power now... Kuroi was in squad three's barracks, holding a letter of application for a transfer back to squad four... Now he was in the air, 75 feet away. His papers in the air where he stood...

His shunpo was not the fastest, but he was there before squad four arrived, if just.

He set to work healing the fallen captain(i am going to start speculating here... tell me if you want to edit it) He immediatly started healing the heart, brain and lungs... as he thought those were the three things that he needed to get done first... Kuroi was perplexed though now that he though about it, he couldn't even feel if this body had been alive... It looked like Captain Kaiyo for sure... but He could not feel her spiritual pressure in the body, but in the air yes... it looked like this was not her... But he didn't show it... He got up and bowed out to another recovery team and walked away, whatever she had bought time for, it had worked... as the 4th squad recovery teams didn't exsactly seem to notice what he had...
