The sound of the pen on paper, echoed furiously around the office as Shikyo finished the signing the last of his papers. "Finally." He sighed to himself. It felt like hours had passed since he'd been outside this office, the paperwork that had piled up during his leave of absence having stacked to unreasonable proportions. But he was done now. Or so he thought. The door opened as one of his squad members, hidden behind a huge pile of papers in his arms, dumped an enormous amount of papers onto his desk. Shikyo glared daggers at the messenger as the shinigami bowed and slowly backed out of the room. Hanging his head in his hands as he rubbed his face in frustration, he took a breath and prepared to climb the mountain of papers stacked before him.


Fortunately for him, a hell butterfly flew into the room, the voice emerging from it sporadic and panicking. "Vice-Captain...ambushed...adjuchas...help." The message ended as abruptly as it began as Shikyo leapt from behind his desk, grabbing his Zanpakuto as he flew out of the room to help his squad members. Although he worried about the well-being and health of his subordinates, a small part of him allowed itself to be happy as he finally escaped the responsibilities of paperwork, if only for a little while.


His men had been sent on a mission at the gate of Seretei, where one of the gate guardians had been defeated by a hollow. Assuming that it was merely a Gillian-level hollow, Shikyo had dispatched three of his unseated members to deal with it. Apparently, there had been a miscalculation and now Shikyo would have to intervene personally. Travelling by rooftop as he leapt from building to building, Shikyo knew that he couldn't afford to waste anytime if he intended to save the lives of his men and as such allowed his reiatsu to concentrate in his legs and feet as he pushed himself through the city, moving faster and faster until he arrived at the entrance gate.

Shikyo immediately noticed the torn door hanging flimsily off its hinges. Searching the area it wasn't long before Shikyo found one of his squad members sprawled on the ground, barely breathing as blood slowly seeped from his many wounds. "We need a Squad 4 member now!" Shikyo sent in a hell butterfly as he examined the body of the shinigami rapidly descending into unconsciousness. A sudden roar behind him drew his attention as he turned to see a sickly green colored hollow with four arms protruding from its snake-like body that ended in a tail instead of legs. The beast rose its fist as it aimed to crush the pair of Shinigami but as the claw descended into the ground, powderizing the dirt, the only thing the hollow hit was the ground as Shikyo flash-stepped himself and the Squad 10 member to the top of a nearby building. "You should be safe here for now." Shikyo stated before standing and using his shunpo to appear in front of the hollow once more.

"Unfortunately for you, this is just the kind of exercise I've been needing." As he said this he flash-stepped into the air so that he was levitating right in front of the hollow's face, his emerald staff already drawn as he swung it with as much force as he could muster toward the hollow's mask. The beast couldn't react fast enough to block the much smaller opponent but this wasn't a normal hollow. The blow connected with the hollow's mask and sent it hurtling through the gate and back outside the city, but the attack was not enough to break the mask completely. "What a pain." Shikyo mumbled as he launched himself toward the hollow, cutting through the air like a jet as he allowed his reiatsu to further enhance his movements. Not knowing when the next time he would be out of his office would be, he decided he'd have a little fun with this Adjuchas, at least until he got bored.

(OOC: This post will also be for speed...as a matter of fact, this entire thread will be for speed so I don't have to put this everytime)

Coming to a halt as he landed in front of the hollow, Shikyo sheathed his Zanpaktuo, deciding that this would be as good a time as ever to practice his Hakuda. The hollow launched itself at Shikyo, sending its two right claws directly toward Shikyo. Crouching and bending at the knees, Shikyo leapt into the air, timing the leap so that he landed on the bottom arm of the hollow and quickly performed a second jump as he latched onto the hollow's extended claw of its upper arm. Using the momentum from the jump, Shikyo angled his body upward, flipping higher into the air so that he was now positioned on the top part of the hollow's upper arm and wasted no time as he sprinted up its arm and toward its face.

The beast swatted at Shikyo with its left arm, attempting to knock the shinigami off its body but this attempt failed as Shikyo flash-stepped to right in front of hollow's face, channeling his reiatsu through his fist as he launched an explosive punch into its mask. The hollow fell to the ground, howling in pain as it thrashed its tail wildly at Shikyo.

Flash-stepping left and right as he dodged the prehensile appendage, Shikyo dropped to the ground, quickly rolling out of the way as the tail came crashing behind him, dangerously close to smashing Shikyo into a permenant fixture in the dirt.

The hollow finally rolled over and pushed itself back into an upright position as it glared at Shikyo as it opened its fanged mouth, a crimson light forming the back of its throat as it fired a cero at the shinigami. With cat-like reflexes Shikyo unsheathed his staff, activating his Shikai in the process, "Scatter the Sands Miku!" Shikyo's spiritual pressure exploded from his body with such force that the twirling golden light of his reiatsu disappated the incoming hollow attack, leaving Shikyo standing quite unharmed as he looked up at the doomed creature.

Flash-stepping into the air and towards one of the hollow's arms, the creature only felt the pain of losing an appendage as Shikyo's movements were to fast for it to hollow. Violently twirling its body as the hollow turned away from Shikyo, the shinigami flash-stepped in front of it again, preventing its escape. "Sorry charlie, today just isn't your day."

.5 if you want more you should describe a little more about him flash stepping, atm what im reading is that he shunpo's to different location and while i suppose this would give him more practice in the skill it wouldnt really strain him much and so probably wouldnt cause too much improvement, maybe write about how he feeld as his doing it, the atmosphere it creates or the look it give. anyways those were just a few friendly tips but they were well written post's overall i did enjoy reading them.

If hollows felt fear then Shikyo knew that doubt racked the abomination's being. The golden light of his reiatsu outlined his figured as Shikyo extended his hand in front of his face, concentrating the spiritual pressure to his hand as he started the incantation, the final words the hollow would hear, ""I am facing the muzzle of a cannon at you. You are a pistol. I am a cannon. In timing and power, my weapon surpasses your's. Have you seen... The Flying Blade Attack? Way of Destruction #23: 36 Pound Cannon!" The air circulated around Shikyo, converging upon itself in front of his hand as his spiritual pressure forced it into a spear-like object that launched itself toward the hollow. The force of the attack send shockwaves through the area as it hit the hollow directly in its mask, crushing it as the hollow didn't even have time to release a final roar of defeat before fading away.

Shikyo stood still as he released a slow sigh of relief, before his mind replayed the hell butterfly message that the squad member had sent. The message, although distorted, clearly mentioned an ambush of types and as far as Shikyo could tell there was only one hollow in the area. Granted it was an Adjuchas, but Shikyo was sure that only one could not have defeated three of his squad members alone. It was then that he felt the immense reiatsu appear behind him and forced his body to react fast enough so that he could bring his blade up to block an incoming cero. The spiritual pressure that flowed through Miku connected with the attack, sending it spiraling away as it dissipated and in its wake Shikyo now saw two more Adjuchas quickly rushing toward him.

His muscles burned from his previous incessant use of shunpo but he knew that he could not stop now, or even hesitate, or he would die. The first beast leapt into the air, forming another cero from high above Shikyo as the second hollow simply charged toward him. Despite his body's protest, he forced his reiatsu through his limbs, envisioning where he would reappear as the cero reached his location. The beam crashed into the ground, decimating the pavement but Shikyo had already enacted his plan, now appearing even higher above the first hollow as he allowed his body to fall and the increased momentum due to gravity was all he needed as he removed the hollow's head from its body.
