Kaiyo chewed her bottom lip as they walked, 'What no i'm fine, he deserved it right' she mumbled, her voice trailing off at the end. Kaiyo tilted her head in confusion as a parade of knives fell down around Kaito, the blonde girl smirked, 'Just in case she needs persuading' she said, her eyes fixated on the knives that could have so easily killed someone. Kaiyo figured stepping on more traps was just a hassle, the class had already been distrubed by the attempted murder of the kid who had tried to sneak into class, TenTen Sensei stood, arms folded as she smirked at the pair. 'This should be fun' Kaiyo mumbled under her breath, stepping over Kaito as she strolled into the classroom.

A cold shiver ran along the girl's spine, the woman was damn scary, even for Kaiyo. Smiling in her usual manner she bowed to the teacher, 'Mornin TenTen Sensei, i'm here to'. The woman turned away from Kaiyo, facing the class once more as she cut off the small girl, 'Kaiyo Saiyouko and Kaito Saruwatari i do not need my time wasted for administration and i think you will agree you don't expect me to sign away your life so easily' a glimmer of joy ran along the womans evil words, an evil smirk curling the edges of her lips the woman waved her hand towards Kaiyo and Kaito. 'Now take a seat at the front and don't fall asleep'. Kaiyo stood up straight, glancing around in disbelief. 'Quickly' the woman said in a cold tone. Kaiyo widenned her eyes back at Kaito, as she girl sheepishly took a seat at the front of the class. There were various problems heading her way, the girl was being made to stay in a class for academy students, she didn't know what subject it was, she was certain she would get picked on byt the teacher, and Kaiyo had never sat at the front at any class, ever.

Kaito breathed out loud exasperatedly, "The old witch is at it again...damn" he said louder than he had intended to. When those words reached the teacher's ears, Kaito knew he was doomed. TenTen, the teacher of the class walked over to him and began to smile wickedly at him. Although the woman had always struck Kaito as a scary person, he had been in the academy way too long for her to have to try and pull some nonsense like this. "What did YOU say, Kaito?" she said her icy cold voice matching the overstretched grin on her face. Despite the excrements that were about to make their way out of his body due to fear, Kaito made sure that his demeanor remained stoic, "TenTen-sensei, I don't have time for this...you know as well as I do that neither of us can stand each other...so why waste time?" he said to her with as little emotion as possible in his voice. The woman, who was pretty tall in her own right took a couple of steps back as she kept that evil smile on her face and turned back toward the front of the class, "Have a seat, Mr. Saruwatari" she said without looking back.

Kaito was really irritated that Kaiyo had chosen to sat down so he shot her mean look and then took his place next to her in the front, "I can't believe a lieutenant takes orders from a part time shinigami..." he thought to himself. The teacher then took her zanpakutou out and began to explain to this class that today's lessons would be about the proper usage of a zanpakutou and what it means to have one. Kaito groaned excessively loud trying to irritate the teacher, but it didn't work as she simply kept smiling eagerly as if she had some big secret. He didn't know what to do and Kaiyo was busy paying attention to the lesson as if she were student, "I can't believe this" he incredulously stared in wonder at the small 11th squad lieutenant. He was getting ready to nudge her when suddenly he heard TenTen say, "And now we will have the 11th squad lieutenant come stand in front of the class and deliver a presentation on the basic functions of a zanpakutou. Please step forward, Lady Kaiyo." Kaito's jaw nearly dropped, but he thought it would be a good time to take a nap so he didn't say anything except, "Good luck, Kaiyo-san" with a wink.

Kaiyo's jaw damn near dropped off, her only response, 'but i didn't even say anything!'the small girl objections were met with the ice cold glare from the teacher, Kaiyo glared back at kaito, blaming him entirely for the whole situation. Kaiyo stormed towards the teacher, smirking sweetly at her What the hell even are the basic functions! the girl screamed to herself as she stared silently at the class. Kaiyo slowly unstheaed her Zanpaktou, spinning the handle in the palm of her hand as she spoke, 'The basic function of a Zanpaktou is to kill people' she said, smiling at the teacher as the class exploded into laughter.

Kaiyo sheathed back her Zanpaktou and strolled back to her desk. TenTen Sensei simply looked at the class and they were silent, speaking loudly to Kaiyo, 'Seeing as yourself and Kaito wish to only disrupt my lesson you will stay behind after class' Kaiyo's eyes widenned once more as a small laugh escaped her mouth. Kaiyo dropped her head loudly on her desk, glaring as TenTen Sensei unsheathed her own Zanpaktou and began the demonstration, Kaiyo turned her head curiously at Kaito, she'd gotten them both in trouble now.

Kaito had fallen asleep literally as soon as Kaiyo had gone up to talk about the basic functions of a zanpakutou, but he had definitely heard when she smacked her head on the desk. "Uh...did I miss something?" he asked with a dazed look on his face. He was sure something had happened since Kaiyo was staring at him with a look of confusion and curiosity. Looking back at the class behind him, he could tell that Kaiyo had done something silly and that it had caused some sort of commotion. Raising his hand, Kaito asked, "TenTen-sensei, would you mind explaining what our punishment is?" he asked trying to slyly fish for the answers, but it backfired, "If you were awake you would be aware of I said, Kaito" the woman said without looking up from her zanpakutou.

Leaning back in his chair, he tried to think of all the things that could possibly have gone wrong, but before he knew it he had fallen asleep again. He was awakened when he felt a breeze just past his arm and saw that part of his desk had been cut away. Looking up, Kaito saw TenTen-sensei staring down at him with daggers in her eyes, "Uh Oh...I didn't sleep through class did I?" he asked still a little dazed. Suddenly he had to sneeze and it just happened to be when TenTen-sensei was bringing her face close to his to try and intimidate him. The woman squinched her eyes and backed back a couple of steps as she reached blindly behind her for some tissue so that she could wipe her face. Unfortunately it was the same tissue she had used to blow her nose earlier and the mucus had spread all over her upper lip area.

The woman shrieked and yelled at the two, "Give me that paper you wretched monster. Hurry up so I can kick you out of my class forever". Kaito hurriedly gave her the paper and she signed it with much haste as Kaito tried to hide his pleasure at the comedy of the situation. She slid the paper on the desk to Kaito as she rushed out of the room and to the bathroom. Kaito shook his head and walked out of the room, "And you couldn't handle her?" he asked the lieutenant with a suspicious look in his eyes as they made their way to the second to last teacher that he had to get a signature from.

Kaiyo smirked as she followed Kaito out of the classroom, 'Please, your the one who missed my show'she smirked, rounded the corner slowly. The girl was still laughing at TenTen Sensei, smirking happily at the result, although Kaiyo was also fairly certain she'd still expect them to turn up after class, the girl shrugged, there was no way in hell that was going to happen. Kaiyo quickly snatched the form off Kaito and bounced along the hallway, smiling as she made her way to the next classroom, spinning quickly in the air the girl landed in an agile manner. Her face frozen in shock as the girl slowly looked down to the form in despair, the name written in bold shot through the girl's mind, the very woman who had made Kaiyo run laps until she passed out for yawning in class.

'Natsumi Sensei' she said slowly, glancing up at the classroom door. The woman was already walking towards her, kaiyo's spiritual energy giving her away already the girl quickyl spun back round to Kaito, 'Lets go i don't think she's home'. Kaiyo turned quickly and turned to leave, a solid hand clamping down on her shoulder as she slowly turned around, sinking into herself as she smiled, 'mornin Sensei'. The woman stared at Kaiyo and smirked, 'Is that how you adress your teacher?'. Kaiyo smiled nervously, bowing her head quickly at woman, the girl's head was knocked down quickly as Natsumi slapped the back of her head, speaking in a cold tone, 'What kind of Lieutenant adresses a teacher of a lower rank than themselves like that?!'. Kaiyo was still in shock, simply smiling as a responce as Natsumi quickly spoke to her class before walking out, shutting the door behind her as she looked between Kaito and the small girl.

Kaito had been wondering why Kaiyo was so nervous when suddenly some woman gracefully made her way and snatched her shoulder when she attempted to run away. "Another scary woman, but this one is a little more controlling..." he thought as he remembered the times he had spent in her class. Scratching his head he started to ask her what they needed to ask her, "Natsumi-san, i--" he had started to say before she gracefully moved behind him and smacked him in the back of the head. "Kaito, you are not a lieutenant. You are still an academy student so mind your manners" the woman said in a very even tone that implied that she meant business. It bugged Kaito that this lady had always resorted to smacking him on the back of the head to make her point.

"Well, fin--" he tried to say something else when Natsumi smacked him in the back of the head yet again. This time Kaito put two hands behind his head as he began to speak really fast, "Natsumi-sensei, it would be a great honor if you could please sign the sheet please miss!" he said rather irritated that he got stuck with all these people. The lady nodded as she smiled, "Much better, Kaito. Of course I will sign the sheet" she said as she motioned for Kaiyo to give her the paper. Kaito sighed, "Well, that's goo--" before Kaito knew it he had received another smack in the head and that was the last straw. "Tell me when we can move o--" he tried saying to Kaito before he felt another smack in the head, "This is ridiculous, the woman must have a nervous tick..." he wondered.

Kaito ran off so that he could avoid getting smacked again, "Kaiyo-san, I will catch up with you when she signs the paper. Bye Natsumi-san!" he called out forgetting to refer to her with respect. As he slowed down he heard light, rhythmic footsteps behind him and he though that it was Kaiyo, but then he felt a smack in the back of his head. He held his head and ran as fast as he could down the hallway without making a racket. "Crazy woman" he thought grimly.

Kaiyo smirked as Natsumi Sensei flash stepped down the corridoor after Kaito, the girl slowly crept backwards, not turning around until she thought it was safe. Slowly as Kaiyo shuffled backwards she spun round, leaping quickly into the air, 'How the hell did you get there!'. Natsumi smirked and stepped closer to Kaiyo, folding her arms as she spoke, 'Flash step, i hear you've become quite skilled in it Lieutenant Kaiyo'. Kaiyo smiled, still edging backwards as the woman towered over her, the girl knew what was coming, and she knew it would somehow be her fault. Kaiyo stared into the womans eyes, a momentary silence settling upon them before Natsumi's icy tone broke it once more. 'Excuse?' the woman barked. Kaiyo smiled nervously, scratching the back of her head as she spoke, 'I, erm, got busy?'.

Natsumi stepped closer, staring coldly down at the small girl as she sighed heavily, 'You got lazy again Kaiyo, you could have easily been Captain by now, but instead you settled for second best'. Kaiyo clenched her fist, yelling at the woman in a defiant manner, 'I didn't get lazy, i still care, i just got busy'. Kaiyo dropped her head, staring down at the floor as Natsumi passed the form to the small girl, 'We'll talk soon Kaiyo Saiyouko'she said, walking past the girl as her shoes clicked down the hallway to her classroom, the woman turned once more at the door. 'Call me when your Captain'.

Kaiyo sighed, dropping her shoulders for a moment before she flash stepped down the hallway after Kaito, appearing in front of him as she passed him the form and grinned, 'Okay so one more teacher then we make it official' she beamed.

Kaito didn't respond to Kaiyo right away as he held his entire head which was throbbing from the various slaps that Natsumi had given it, "That woman...seriously causing so much trouble for no reason..." he muttered through pained lips. Getting up reluctantly, Kaito was happy to hear that it was only one more teacher left and he was somewhat glad that he had saved this person for last. It was someone that he had admired for sometime, although he never really took their advice, "Well if it ain't ole' Gai-sensai..." Kaito thought reminscing about all the great sleep he had gotten in the old man's class. Compared to his last two teachers he hoped that this would be a cake walk as they came to the front of the class.

"Ladies first Kaiyo-san..." Kaito said as he gestured the girl forward since he didn't really want to take the chance of being beaten to a pulp again. Not that he was scared or anything; it was simply a matter that Natsumi had beaten confidence out of him for the time being so he signaled Kaiyo forward as he grinned. He knew that Gai would probably come and do a back flip round house kick on the girl, but she was lieutenant so he was sure she could handle it.

Kaiyo smiled curiously at Kaito as she stepped towards the teacher, not bothering too much about the brutal roundhouse kicked aimed at her head, Kaiyo flash stepped quickly behind the guy and threw forwards her right fist into the ridge of his back. The man smirked and spun around quickly,moving underneath Kaiyo's arm as he ducked low and flew his body at her with an uppercut to the chin. Still smiling, Kaiyo shifted her body weight in time with the man, turning sideways as his fist shot past her face the girl paused. The teacher's leg aimed at her face as Kaiyo held her shiny blade at his neck. The man smiled, slowly dropping his leg back down as Kaiyo sheathed her Zanpaktou and bowed, 'Mornin Gai-sensei'. The tall man grinned with pride as he placed one hand on Kaiyo's shoulder, 'So what can Gai Sensei do for the two of you?'.

Kaiyo stood up and stepped to the side, gesturing to Kaito as the girl finally saw the looks of shock from the man's class, mouths open as the students simply stared in silence at the blonde Lieutenant that had ran in and attacked their teacher. Her cheeks blushing slightly red Kaiyo tilted her head to the side and smiled.

Kaito hadn't expected anything less from the two as they made their introductions through fists and blades rather than using words like normal people do, "I figured that crazy bastard would try something like that..." he thought as his face sunk when Gai decided to look over at him. "Kaito! My exquisitely lazy friend. Your laziness is legendary around these part, yet as I told you the spring time of youth granted you the ability to graduate early. Despite you failing most of your class" the man said excitedly. Kaito tried to back up a couple of steps as he saw his former teacher tense up as if ready to attack him, "G-Gai-sensei, h-hold on a sec...wha-what are doing?!" he asked as he took into a full on sprint away from the classroom door. He managed to make it exactly five steps down the hallway when he felt what could only be described as a wild beast tackle him from behind. His face hurt from being slammed to the ground from the force, "Hi Gai-sensei..." he murmured while still face down on the ground.

Gai laughed loudly as he sat on Kaito, out of everyone that Kaito had met thus far in his adventures in Soul Society, Maito, Gai was the only person that was even close to his height. Because of this Gai thought it was okay to roughhouse with a student, who otherwise wanted to avoid engaging in such troublesome activity. "Well, Saruwatari-san, how are you enjoying the spring time of your youth?" he asked in an excited manner. Kaito hated these types of conversations because he knew something would get Gai-sensei extremely excited and the teacher would challenge him to a contest which Kaito would have no choice, but to compete in. "I'm enjoying it great!" he answered with mock enthusiasm and even went as far as waving his arms from where he was pinned on the ground to express his excitement. "In fact I am here because I needed you to sign this form so that I can enjoy the spring time of my youth even more!" he shouted again in mock enthusiasm.

Instantly he felt the weight come off his back and Kaito brushed the dirt of his white and blue kimono; Gai-sensei was holding his thumbs up pose at Kaito for a reason even Kaito couldn't figure out. "If that's the case Saruwatari-san then I'll definitely sign! I can't wait to see you do missions and become a captain! Then we can request contests with each other all the time!" Gai said as he stared off into space star struck with tears in his eyes. Kaito's only response a dead look as he quickly glanced over at Kaiyo and then returned his gaze back to his daydreaming teacher hoping that this ordeal would end sooner rather than later. After he wiped the tears away from his eyes, Gai turned to Kaito, "Before I sign it there's one more thing that a student and teacher must share one last time" he said with a twinkle that Kaito knew all too well. "A-ah...wait...no...Gai-sensei...listen to me...I can't...listen to me dammit!" he said as he tried to run away from his sensei once again only to be pounced on once again.

"We will play our famous game of...ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS!" Gai announced as he raised his hands in the air to flourish the statement. Kaito groaned at this because he knew it was coming and he could already here as the other classes including Gai-sensei's own class clamored out to come and see the struggle that had become quite legendary around the academy area. "Gai-sensei, you're a devil, you know that, right?" Kaito said with an irritated look on his face, but he knew that pouting wouldn't help so he raised his fist in the air, "Same as always I'm guessing. One shot and to the victor goes the spoils?" he said crossly from his laid out position on the ground. Gai-sensai raised his right hand and made a fist dramatically as he gave the thumbs up sign to Kaito once again, "If I lose, I will run around the school blind folded on nothing, but my hands!" he announced as if Kaito cared. "Well...let's do it then" Kaito said as he keenly eyed the movements in Gai sensei's hand as they began.

Finally they both shot and Kaito quickly analyzed the muscle squence that Gai's hand had taken while he thought out logically what the teacher would choose as his first choice, "Well, I know Gai-sensei loves to choose rock, so normally he would pick that, but in this instance where he is trying to outmaneuver me, he will probably pick the opposite of rock with the hope of tying with me..." he quickly thought. From the way that the man's hands were tensed up, Kaito knew that he was right as he put forth a scissors at the same time that Gai through out a paper sign. The entire classroom area began to clap and cheer as if some big even had taken place, "Geez...these are supposed to be students..." Kaito thought as he observed the scene around him. He even caught sight of Natsumi and TenTen in the crowd smiling; the smiles were devilish, but they were smiles none the less. Sighing, Kaito dragged himself up as Gai-sensei saluted him and signed the form with as much drama as a person could possible put into the signing of a paper. Handing Kaito the paper, Gai-sensei summoned his students to put the blind fold on him as he stood on his hands, "It seems the record stands at 51 wins for you to my 49 wins. Congrats" he said as he took off dashing on his hands.

Shaking his head and avoiding all the people that were congratulating him on his victory in the stupid game, Kaito made his way towards the small 11th squad lieutenant, "Well? Now that we had the adventure of a life time just trying to get teacher sigs, what do you think is next?" he asked. While he did have some fun, Kaito didn't really have a taste for doing so much work for something as small as a signature and left to him, he probably would have forged them had Kaiyo not come along. As he looked at everyone returning to their daily routine which meant class, he couldn't help, but grin at the fact that he was going to become part of the Gotei 13. Not only that he was going to be seated officer, "3rd seat, huh...I wonder how much work I will have to do..." he pondered as he stared out over the academy area knowing that he was no longer a daily part of the machine that was the Shinigami Academy.

Kaiyo stood motionless for a moment, the girl was definately in a state of shock. So many people, even teachers, had appeared out of nowhere to watch a student and teacher play rock paper scissors, Kaiyo simply stared gawmlessly at Kaito for a moment before mumbling down the corridoor, 'Your crazy'. Kaiyo shrugged and slid the form out of Kaito's hand, 'You've got all the signatures you need, follow me' she grinned, turning the opposite direction in the hallway and strolling happily down, still holding onto Kaito's form as she went. Kaiyo called casually over her shoulder, 'I'd hurry up and think of a squad if i were you, people are gunna want to know very soon' she giggled, just to pile on the pressure.

Kaiyo stopped at a small office just outside the school assembly hall, the girl bounded through the door to find the school headmaster waiting patiently on the other side of the desk, Kaiyo wasn't entirely sure why he hadn't used his own office but she wasn't that bothered. The blonde girl held open the door for Kaito and passed the form to the old man. After a quick signature at the bottom of the form the old man stood up slwoly, smiling at Kaito as he shook his hand, 'I trust you have made your squad decision already'he didn't even wait for a reply, instead winking slyly to Kaiyo before he left the room; shutting the door behind him. The blonde girl's eyes lit up with excitement, 'Okay next part gets good'.

Kaiyo jumped quickly over the desk and rummaged around in a bag for a while before pulling out a large wrapped box and passing it to Kuro. 'It's your new unfiform' she smiled, nodding to him as he opened the box, 'Put it on and meet me in the hall'flash stepping out of the room Kaiyo left before Kaito had time to argue.

The girl sat with her legs crossed on her chair on the main stage of the hall. The entire academy waiting as the headmaster sat centre stage in his chair. All Kaito had to do was come in, say which squad he was choosing, receive his graduation certificate and leave. Of course the headmaster always asked other annoying questions but nothing Kaito couldn't manage. Kaiyo chewed on her bottom lip for a moment, she figured the guy was squad 3, but that was simply her humble opnion. A small smirk grew along her face as she leant back in her chair, Kaiyo hadn't actually told Kaito it was an assembly, he probably figured it was for a photo or something, the girl giggled. Turning quickly Kaiyo stood up as the door opened at the side of the hall.

Kaito opened the door in his new shinigami kimono with a grin of his face as he looked up into the bright sun; it was then that he realized that he wasn't facing a camera, rather what was in front of him was an audience. Scanning the area he caught a glimpse of Kaiyo grinning sheepishly in the crowd, "That girl...she knows what she has done..." he said as his eye twitched in anger at the girl. He was tempted to go right back through the door and walk home so that he could get some sleep, but then he saw that the head master was waiting at the center of the stage and his annoyance with the entire situation exponentially increased. The head master smiled a commanding and authoritative smile as he motioned Kaito over to where he was sitting. With no choice, but to collaborate at this point Kaito made his way slowly to the center of the stage so that the headmaster could address him.

"We are here today to graduate one of the academy's finest, if not laziest student into the Gotei 13!" he began as he flourished his arms in the air signaling the entire academy to clap. The clapping started politely then one of Kaito's classmates started to chant and from then on it went downhill in Kaito's opinion; he hated to be the center of attention since it required the effort of behaving with modesty and dignity. He kept his expression a distant stoic look as he showed no emotion and acted as if he had expected something like this the entire time, but secretly he vowed that he would make Kaiyo pay. "And now it is time for a soon-to-be third seat officer to tell us what squad it is that he is going to join!" the headmaster again said with a flourishing of the arms that incited an even greater response than the first time.

Kaito stared out into the crowd with a blank look on his face as he glanced up to the sky, staring at the clouds as he contemplated his decision of what squad he wanted to be in, "Well...I've always wanted to be in the 3rd squad since they like to have strategy as a basic principle of their fighting style. Also I think I can change the meaning of the marigold that symbolizes despair for the squad...but then there's also the 12th squad that love to do research and invent things all the time" Kaito's eyebrows furrowed as he thought about the different possibilities that the could have in the 12th squad with the Bureau of Research at his disposal. Silence filled the air, but the storm that was going on in Kaito's head was more than enough to keep him from noticing how on edge everyone was about his lack of decision.

After a little more thought he decided that 12th squad would mean that he would have to actually take the effort to do research and invent things which actually sounded like work so he ruled that out. Then the 8th squad which had been known for being a bunch of easy going shinigami came into his mind, but he quickly pushed that idea to the side as well since he felt like 8th squad didn't really fit his persona. "I guess...I'm going to be the 3rd seat of the 3rd squad" Kaito said frankly to the audience of academy students and teachers. There was a dead silence before the clapping went to a deafening pitch and Kaito was sure that he was going to simply shunpo away to his house where he would sleep off the events of the day. Finally the headmaster calmed things down and handed him his diploma along with is official certificate showing that he was now an official officer of the Gotei 13. The entire time the headmaster shook Kaito's hand vigorously with a smile that looked like it must split his face to do so, "Congratulations, Kaito, I had my doubts, but you are truly one of the greatest this academy has seen" he said.

Kaito looked at the guy with an amused look since he remembered just a month ago how the same person had calmed him a wasted bag of shinigami ability, "I guess everybody has their two faces..." he thought as he closed his eyes. After the everyone had congratulated him and shook his hand repeatedly Kaito made sure that he found out where Kaiyo was so that he could avenge himself. As soon as he walked up to her he looked impassively down at the small girl, "Thanks for the warning...I am so thankful in fact that I asked Natsumi-san if she wanted to teach you for week which she said she would gladly do so" he stated to her, "Since I'm going to be a 3rd seat I should have enough pull to work something out right?" he asked her with a grin to let her know he was joking. Then a serious look crossed his face as he gave her the certificate and diploma, "Here, do what ya like with it...Such things aren't necessary" he said as he began to walk towards the academy dorm. "I take it we have no more business?" he said as he stopped and half turned towards Kaiyo.

Kaiyo's large smile dropped as Kaito mentioned Natsumi Sensei, the girl clenched her fists tightly, that woman would kill her, easily. Kaiyo glanced down at the certificate and smiled to herself, she'd get it framed then send it back to him, every Shinigami still had their certificate, even the Captain Commander himself. The girl shrugged her shoulders at Kaito, she figured she didn't kind of let him in for it about coming into the hall, but she also knew he wouldn't have come in otherwise. The girl grinned back at him as he turned back to her, 'I'll come see how your doing in Squad 3' she smiled. The girl liked Kaito, and as angry as she was at him for a wekk with Natsumi Sensei the girl thought of him as a friend.
Kaiyo smiled once more and turned on her heel to leave, proud of her days work, and that didn't happen often.
