For some reason Rab Nesbit had shaken Kaito awake alot earlier than usual, but the big guy never mentioned what kind of training could possibly be achieved at such an earlier hour in the morning,
"What is it with sensei these days? Damn early morning training all the time..." he muttered as he stumbled out of bed. It didn't help that Rab hadn't even bothered to wait for him to at least stumble to the door before leaving to begin preparing the area for Kaito to begin his training. When he fell onto the ground on all fours Kaito had the thought of simply using this opportunity to climb back into bed and catch a few more winks of sleep. Of course when he had first come under the training of Rab Nesbit's wing he would have very quickly made his decision to go and sleep in the bed once more, but now that he had suffered under the man's wrath for sometime now he knew better. Crawling to the door Kaito wondered whether or not he had made the right decision in coming to seek Nesbit's training in the art of sword fighting; especially with all the trouble that it was putting him through. Upon reaching the doorway Kaito was immediately greeted by a giant hand that blotted out the early morning sun when he had tried to look up into the sky; the hand grabbed him by his now dirty clothed collar with ease which forced him to stand on his own feet.
Staggering forward a little bit Kaito flailed his hands in front of him as he attempted to maintain his balance, but to no avail since moments after the meaty hand let go of his collar the young soul stumbled forward and fell on the ground face first,
"That hurt..." was all the boy could say from the ground. Kaito heard Nesbit chuckle a little as he said,
"'Ight as well git it done now..." and then he heard the shuffle of the man's heavy feet as they made their way towards Kaito, but he didn't resist as he felt first his hands being tied in rope and then his feet. Once again Kaito felt the hand upon his collar followed by the quick jerk from the ground which brought him to his unsteady feet once more,
"How many times do you...want me to fall...?" Kaito asked still a bit sleepy.
"Lad, I 'ave a special training fer ya. Ya see...fighting is a two 'ay street. If ya have da power attack, ya must also train yer power to counter or dodge..." the old man explained as he walked a little distance away from the bound shinigami and picked up a pebble from the ground. Kaito's dozing off quickly came to an end as he realized what was about to happen,
"Don't tell me..." he shook his head with wide eyes,
"You have got to be kidding me..." he finished as he watched the burly man wind up and launch the pebble at him.
Twisting his body left Kaito managed to avoid getting hit in the ribs by the pebble as it sliced through the air making a whistling noise that indicated exactly how dangerous it was to get hit by something moving that fast,
"What is your problem?" Kaito asked as he stared in disdain at Nesbit. Sighing Nesbit picked up another pebble from the ground and began to playfully toss it in the air,
"Lad...this training is bout 'ody positioning...as a swordsmen its good ta be able to move yer certain parts of yer body 'ather dan yer whole body..." was all he said as he cocked back once again. The second pebble came out his hands smoking as it sailed through the air and straight for Kaito's knees to which the boy responded by leaping in the air to avoid getting struck. Since he wasn't able to use his hands or feet for balance, the young shinigami fell flat on his face and the fall was so hard that he ended up ingesting some of the dirt that flew up from the ground as a result of his fall. While he was still on the ground, Nesbit's gruff voice began to instruct him again,
"Lad...yer moving too much. Huge 'ovements like dat one dere will get ya killed. Don't let me words lead ya astray though ya can test this biggie if ya want..." he chuckled again which made Kaito quiver as he lay on the ground.
Rolling over so that his face was out of the ground, Kaito directed his eyes to where he had last seen Nesbit standing only to catch sight of the huge man letting go of yet another pebble that was sure to inflict permanent damage to him if he was struck by it. Gathering his wits about him once more Kaito managed to rotate his body so fast off the ground that his body sprung into the air without the use of his hands and at the last second he was able to bring his feet into a position where he could stand. Breathing heavily from the exertion of trying to get away from rocketing pebbles, Kaito's forehead dripped with sweat as he panted in an attempt to gain his breath,
"Damn, the old bastard really isn't kidding about this one..." he realized.
"No time for breaks me laddy!" Kaito heard the ex-lieutenant called at and Kaito looked up to see three pebbles sailing through the air at him with speed that was comparable to bullets whistling through the air, but he focused his mind's eye in attempt to try and deal with the situation. The first pebble came whizzing towards his side so Kaito bent slightly so that his body bowed a bit just enough so that the pebble flew into the space where his body used to be.
The other two pebbles sailed together in perfect sychnronization so there was no way that Kaito would be able to avoid one before the other, narrowing his eyes as he assessed their position with each other before deciding which move to make, the young soul readied himself. Leaping into the air, Kaito twisted his body while spinning to the left and the pebbles sailed past him on either side without so much as touching a piece of his clothing that flopped around him as he spun. Landing, clouds of dust arose into the air once more as the boy lifted his head up to look at Rab Nesbit, who was staring back at him with a look of shock on his face, "Nesbit-san...did you think that I was going to let you put a hole in me?" he asked with his head cocked to the right. The ropes that bound his arms and legs no longer seemed to be a shackle through which he had to struggle through, but they had simply become situations which forced him to move his body in a different manner than it was normally used to moving. As he caught his breath he listened to the ex-lieutenant's assessment of his performance,
"Ya managed to dodge all o' dose witout much effort even though it be yer first time doin' this...I don't believe it..." he said with a thick accent that made Kaito break out into a grin.
